While I’ve been listening to Fall Out Boy since 2003’s Take This To Your Grave, their sophomore LP From Under the Cork Tree was the #1 album I listened to in high school. The music and lyrics on this record firmly solidified my love for the band, and I’m still going to their concerts today after first seeing them while promoting FUCT back in 2005.

I contemplated getting a FOB tattoo my senior year of high school, but was told by many that I’d regret it later, so I never did. Still a diehard in my mid-thirties, it was time to finally get that ink I wanted back in my teenage years. The eye/keyhole/crown design was the cover art for FUCT’s vinyl release, and I always loved the look of it. One of my favorite tracks on the album is also “XO,” which is the song that references the image. It was even the secret Magic 8 Ball song I got to hear LIVE when they played Fenway Park last year! Only fitting, then, to commemorate it with my latest tattoo. 🎱

As work continues on my prehistoric sleeve, take a look at this new color addition just below the elbow – a past and present piece made up of modern-day sea life layered over a set of fossilized Megalodon jaws! The now extinct shark was a biological marvel, having teeth up to 7 inches long and the strongest bite force of any animal in history at more than 40,000 PSI (compared to the strongest today: saltwater crocodiles at just 3,700 PSI)!

Megalodon was the largest shark to ever exist, dominating the oceans for more than 20 million years. Reaching sizes upwards of 50 feet in length, the largest jaw reconstruction of the behemoth measures 11 feet across and over 9 feet tall! With a life-size tooth of the shark already tattooed above my elbow, I can once again pay tribute to one of my all-time favorite animals with this unique ink. 🦈
