• The Hermit Card •
1. Core Meanings
Keywords: Introspection, solitude, wisdom, guidance, inner journey, self-reflection, enlightenment.
Themes: Seeking deeper truths, stepping back from external distractions, discovering inner wisdom, being a beacon for others through personal experience.
2. Symbolism and Imagery
The Lantern: The Hermit carries a lantern, symbolizing the light of wisdom and inner guidance. It only illuminates a small area, suggesting that the journey is taken one step at a time. Inside the lantern, the six-pointed star (often the Star of David) represents divine wisdom and the connection between heaven and earth.
The Staff: The staff he holds symbolizes support and stability, often representing the strength gained through inner work and self-trust. The staff acts as both a grounding tool and a guide.
The Cloak and Hood: The cloak and hood signify protection, introspection, and concealment. They represent the decision to turn inward, where true insight is often hidden from the outside world.
The Snowy Landscape (in some decks): The isolated, often cold landscape around The Hermit reflects solitude and a “winter” of the soul—times when we withdraw to reflect, regroup, and seek wisdom within.
3. Numerology and Astrology
Numerology - 9: The number 9 is associated with completion, fulfillment, and attainment. It’s a number of spiritual insight and serves as the end of a cycle, preparing for renewal and the beginning of something new.
Astrological Correspondence - Virgo: Virgo’s energy aligns with The Hermit’s themes of introspection, analysis, and a focus on self-improvement. Virgo brings a meticulous and service-oriented energy to this card, highlighting the Hermit’s role as both seeker and teacher.
Planet - Mercury: Ruled by Mercury in its association with Virgo, The Hermit’s energy combines communication with introspection. This reflects the Hermit’s role in translating inner wisdom into guidance for others, even if his insights are not immediately shared.
4. Deeper Meanings and Interpretations
Spiritual Growth and Enlightenment: The Hermit often appears when you are called to turn inward to seek spiritual growth or find answers within. This card encourages meditation, self-reflection, and a retreat from external noise to find inner clarity.
Solitude and Self-Reliance: The Hermit values solitude, not as isolation, but as a means of cultivating self-reliance and self-trust. This card invites you to embrace moments of aloneness as a source of strength.
Guidance and Mentorship: Sometimes, The Hermit symbolizes a mentor or guide entering your life. In this role, the Hermit can represent a teacher or wise elder, one who shares wisdom and experience. Alternatively, it may signify your own role as a guiding light for others through the knowledge you’ve gained.
Inner Truth and Clarity: The Hermit encourages you to seek the truth of a situation by withdrawing from outside influences. In this card, clarity comes not from logical reasoning alone but from intuitive understanding and inner listening.
5. Reversed Meaning
Keywords: Loneliness, isolation, ignoring inner guidance, feeling lost, excessive withdrawal.
When reversed, The Hermit may indicate an unwillingness to look within or a period of excessive isolation, possibly leading to feelings of loneliness or disconnect. It can also suggest you’re ignoring inner wisdom, focusing too much on external guidance, or struggling to re-enter the world after a period of solitude.
This reversal may call for balance—knowing when to turn inward and when to re-engage with the world. It reminds you not to lose yourself in introspection and to be open to sharing your journey.
6. Associations and Connections
Herbs: Sage (clarity and wisdom), mugwort (enhancing intuition), lavender (calming the mind).
Crystals: Amethyst (spiritual insight), labradorite (self-discovery), and clear quartz (clarity of mind).
Deities: Hekate (goddess of crossroads and inner wisdom), Thoth (Egyptian god of wisdom and knowledge), and Odin (Norse god of wisdom and introspection).
Colors: Grey (neutrality, wisdom), white (purity, enlightenment), and deep blue (spiritual depth).
7. Meditative Questions and Prompts
Where in your life could you benefit from more introspection or solitude?
What inner wisdom are you seeking to uncover, and how can you access it?
How can you act as a guiding light for others, based on your own experiences?
Are there any influences in your life clouding your perception of your truth?
8. Practical Applications
For Meditation: Sit quietly, focusing on your inner light as if it were a lantern guiding you through the dark. Visualize it illuminating the answers you seek, one step at a time.
Journaling: Reflect on a time when solitude helped you gain perspective. Write about the wisdom you found in that experience.
In Daily Life: Allow yourself to step back from social pressures or the need for external validation. Practice moments of stillness and quiet, listening to your inner voice.
9. Affirmation
“I seek wisdom within, honoring the light that guides my journey of self-discovery.”

✨ Tarot Numerology ✨
Tumblr media
ONE
The Leader
Numerology Meaning:
The number 1 is about initiation, originality, and stepping out into the world with purpose. As the first step out of infinite potential (zero), 1 stands alone, symbolizing individual identity, willpower, and the courage to create. Historically, 1 is the mark of primal force—the singular essence from which everything flows. In numerology, it’s the energetic core of independence, ambition, and the spark to innovate.
Tarot Perspective:
In the Tarot’s pip cards, the Aces of each suit carry this singular, potent energy. They represent pure forms of the suit’s element—raw potential that holds all possibilities within it, waiting to be expressed. Just as 1 represents an unshaped force, each Ace is a pure idea, whether in action (Wands), emotions (Cups), intellect (Swords), or physicality (Pentacles). These Aces invite us to seize opportunities with confidence and be bold in our pursuits.
TWO
The Diplomat
Numerology Meaning:
The number 2 brings balance, harmony, and relational awareness. It’s about duality—the first reflection, the dance between two forces, and the desire for unity and partnership. Historically, 2 has symbolized the divine feminine, yin energy, and the space of receptivity. It’s a number of gentle strength, peacekeeping, and the intuitive drive to connect.
Tarot Perspective:
In the pip cards, the Twos depict the ways we connect, reflect, and balance in each element. Whether it’s a decision (Swords), a new partnership or harmony in emotions (Cups), steady progress in material pursuits (Pentacles), or a balancing act in action (Wands), the Twos reveal how we respond to relationships and decisions. Like the number 2, these cards emphasize the quiet strength in collaboration and the subtle wisdom of patience and timing.
THREE
The Creator
Numerology Meaning:
The number 3 is a dynamic, expressive force of creativity and expansion. It’s the fusion of the initial two energies (1 and 2) into a creative whole, representing communication, growth, and joyful expression. Historically, 3 is connected to the principles of birth and development, a number that thrives in social and creative environments, promoting joy and fertility.
Tarot Perspective:
The Threes in the pip cards embody this energy of creation and growth. In Wands, it’s the first steps toward actualizing dreams; in Cups, it’s celebration and community; in Swords, it’s the understanding gained through pain or loss; in Pentacles, it’s teamwork and craftsmanship. Each suit shows how 3 encourages us to move beyond ourselves, combining effort with passion to shape something new.
FOUR
The Foundation
Numerology Meaning:
4 represents stability, structure, and reliability. In numerology, it’s associated with the four elements, directions, and seasons—grounding forces that bring order to life. 4 is practical, focused, and foundational, favoring systems, organization, and discipline.
Tarot Perspective:
The Fours in the pip cards manifest as the foundational aspects of each suit. In Wands, it’s the grounding of achievements; in Cups, it’s emotional stability or contemplation; in Swords, it’s rest and mental recovery; in Pentacles, it’s financial stability or holding on to resources. These cards show how 4’s stability brings a solid base to each element, though it sometimes carries a sense of inertia, requiring a conscious effort to move forward.
FIVE
The Adventurer
Numerology Meaning:
5 is the number of freedom, movement, and change. It introduces the unpredictable, challenging us to adapt and expand our horizons. Historically, 5 symbolizes humanity’s sensory experiences and the drive to explore. It thrives on energy, pushing limits, and living in a space of constant discovery and sometimes disruption.
Tarot Perspective:
The Fives in the pip cards embody this restless and sometimes chaotic energy. They represent conflict (Wands), emotional hardship (Cups), mental challenges (Swords), and financial strain or material lack (Pentacles). Each Five brings tension or discomfort, urging us to confront, question, and adapt. In this way, they reflect 5’s adventurous yet unpredictable spirit, which, while challenging, drives growth and resilience.
SIX
The Nurturer
Numerology Meaning:
6 is harmony, nurturing, and responsibility. It reflects compassion, community, and a balanced home life, often associated with service and love. Historically, 6 has been seen as the number of perfection and balance, promoting healing and relationships.
Tarot Perspective:
The Sixes in the pip cards capture themes of restoration and connection. Wands shows victory and public recognition, Cups delves into nostalgia and shared memories, Swords highlights journeys and transitions, and Pentacles reveals generosity and material support. These cards express 6’s nurturing energy, reminding us to cultivate harmony, support others, and seek peace within and around us.
SEVEN
The Seeker
Numerology Meaning:
7 is introspective, spiritual, and analytical. It represents the quest for deeper understanding and the mysteries of life. Historically revered as a sacred number, 7 embodies wisdom, inner strength, and a desire to understand the hidden truths.
Tarot Perspective:
In the pip cards, the Sevens show moments of introspection and the need to go beyond the surface. The Wands reflect perseverance despite challenges; the Cups present illusions and choices; the Swords show cunning or strategic thinking; the Pentacles emphasize patience and evaluation. Each suit’s Seven prompts us to dig deeper, calling for self-reflection, and urging us to align with our own truth.
EIGHT
The Achiever
Numerology Meaning:
8 is the number of material mastery, strength, and accomplishment. It’s associated with abundance, power, and the balancing of spiritual and material realms. Historically, 8 reflects infinity and the natural cycles of life, emphasizing responsibility and resilience.
Tarot Perspective:
The Eights in the pip cards reveal how each element achieves mastery and balance. In Wands, it’s momentum and fast-moving energy; in Cups, it’s emotional resilience and the courage to leave behind what doesn’t serve; in Swords, it’s mental entrapment that requires strength to overcome; in Pentacles, it’s diligent, focused work. These cards embody 8’s ambitious and disciplined energy, showing how mastery demands persistence and often involves sacrifice.
NINE
The Humanitarian
Numerology Meaning:
9 represents universal love, wisdom, and completion. It carries a sense of fulfillment, reflection, and the giving back of one’s learned insights to others. Historically, 9 has been seen as the number of the elder and the humanitarian, encouraging selflessness and empathy.
Tarot Perspective:
In the pip cards, the Nines reflect both the challenges and fulfillment of completion. Wands depict resilience despite near exhaustion; Cups offer emotional satisfaction and wishes fulfilled; Swords show anxiety and worry; Pentacles celebrate material success and independence. The Nines hold 9’s humanitarian spirit, reminding us to connect deeply with our experiences, learning and growing as we prepare to move forward.
TEN
The Whole
Numerology Meaning:
10 is a number of fulfillment, closure, and the start of a new cycle. It represents both the ending and beginning, incorporating the dynamism of 1 with the boundless nature of 0. Historically, 10 has been the number of the “great wheel,” symbolizing the completion of journeys.
Tarot Perspective:
In the pip cards, the Tens express the culmination of each suit’s journey. The Wands bring the weight of success and responsibility; Cups bring emotional fulfillment within family or community; Swords depict the finality of mental strain; Pentacles reflect the legacy of material wealth and stability. Each card carries the essence of 10 as a cycle that has reached fullness, preparing for a new phase with both the wisdom and challenges of what came before.

⛤ A Card a Day ⛤
Day One
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tarot is such an integral part of our daily craft, isn’t it? Whether we’re pulling a card to gain insight into how our day might unfold, using it to communicate with our deities, or diving into deeper spreads to explore the past, present, or future, Tarot is one of the most beloved tools in a witch’s arsenal.
Yet, let’s be honest, it’s no small feat to memorize and truly grasp the meaning of each card. With 78 cards, each layered with symbolism and nuance, it’s understandable to feel overwhelmed.
That’s why I’m starting a new segment here on my blog called “A Card a Day.” As the name suggests, each day I’ll select one card and explore its meaning with you all. Whether you’re a seasoned Tarot reader or just starting out, I hope this helps you deepen your understanding of the cards and enrich your practice.
Today’s Card: The Devil 🐐🔥
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Upright Meaning:
The Devil represents bondage and attachment often to material things, unhealthy habits, or self-limiting beliefs. This card can symbolize temptation, indulgence, and a lack of control, but it’s also an opportunity for self-awareness. It challenges you to confront the areas of your life where you feel stuck or powerless and encourages breaking free from those restraints.
In Love Readings ♡ (Upright):
This card may point to passion and intensity, but also unhealthy dynamics. It can signify codependency, obsession, or being stuck in a toxic relationship. It’s a call to evaluate whether your connection is balanced or rooted in attachment rather than true love.
Reversed Meaning:
When reversed, The Devil is a card of liberation and personal empowerment. It signifies breaking free from harmful patterns, regaining control, and stepping into self-awareness. This reversal often represents a turning point where you overcome the challenges and attachments symbolized by the upright card.
In Love Readings ❥ (Reversed):
The reversed Devil indicates liberation from a toxic or restrictive relationship. It can signify personal healing and a new sense of independence, or that you’re learning to establish healthy boundaries within your partnership.
What does The Devil mean to you? How has it shown up in your readings? Let’s discuss in the comments or reblogs! ☽⛥☾

MAGIC FOR THE CITY DWELLER
CHAPTER ONE: WELCOME TO THE CONCRETE JUNGLE, WHERE MAGIC NEVER SLEEPS
magic isn’t just for the deep woods and moss-covered stones. it’s not limited to candlelit covens or ancient runes etched in a sacred grove. magic is where you are. in the humming neon signs, the flickering streetlamps, the rhythm of bus doors opening and closing, in the energy of walking amongst a crowd on a busy street.
urban magic is about finding the mystical in the mundane, harnessing the city’s restless energy, and using every graffiti tag, liminal space, cracked pavement, and forgotten coin as a tool for enchantment. the city is alive—a churning, breathing, chaotic organism—and if you listen closely, it’s whispering spells in the wind between skyscrapers.
this isn’t some high-brow, ceremonial magic doctrine. here, we work with sigils written on coffee shop napkins, metro card protection spells, and phone screens charged as scrying mirrors. this is magic for the streets, for the punks, for the witches in walk-ups and studio apartments, for the ones who find the divine in the hum of a dive bar at 3 AM.
WHAT MAKES URBAN MAGIC DIFFERENT?
the biggest shift between traditional and urban magic is the environment. instead of sacred groves, we have community gardens. instead of rivers, we have storm drains. instead of bonfires, we have neon lights and power grids pulsing with raw electricity.
but just because the setting is different doesn’t mean the magic is weaker. city magic is potent as hell, because it’s charged with movement, history, technology, and millions of lives overlapping in real-time.
ELEMENTS IN AN URBAN CONTEXT:
• earth → concrete, bricks, asphalt, parks and park dirt
• air → the wind between high-rises, the whispers of overheard conversations, the endless streams of information moving across the city
• fire → electricity, neon lights, the heat of a crowded bus, a match or lighter
• water → rain pooling in the streets, sewer systems, fountains in public squares, water dripping from rooftops
• spirit → the city itself, the collective energy of its people, the ghosts in old buildings, the echoes of everyone who’s walked these streets before you
this practice isn’t about forcing the old ways into a modern setting. it’s about adapting magic so that it fits your world, your reality, your city.
THEORY & FRAMEWORK: CHAOS MAGIC, QUEER MAGIC, AND CITY SPELLS
urban magic thrives on three key principles:
1. ADAPTATION – use what’s around you. city witches need to be resourceful as hell. your “wand” can be a pen, a drumstick, or a crowbar if that’s what speaks to you (though a crowbar is a little extreme). your “altar” can be a windowsill, a shoebox, or even temporary like the back of a bus seat where you traced a sigil in the condensation.
2. INGENUITY – urban magic is subtle, fast, and often disguised. your ritual circle might be drawn in spilled coffee, your sigils hidden in street art, your glamour spells worked through fashion choices and body language.
3. INTERACTION – the city is alive. talk to it. work with the spirits of your apartment building, the crows and raven and wandering city cats who see a lot, the graffiti messages that seem to answer your questions in cryptic scrawls, street names that feel like answers to questions. trust your gut, keep watch for the synchronicity
MAGICAL SYSTEMS THAT THRIVE IN THE CITY:
1. CHAOS MAGIC: THE DIY APPROACH TO WITCHCRAFT
urban magic truthfully falls under the umbrella of chaos magic.
chaos magic is sort of like punk rock spellwork. no rules except what works. it’s the belief that magic isn’t just about ancient texts and strict traditions—it’s about belief as a tool. hacking reality, using symbols, and experimenting with what actually gets results. if something stops working you chuck it and move on to something new.
• create sigils from street signs, corporate logos, and subway maps.
• use “reality hacking” spells—like placing intent in a QR code or whispering an incantation into a social media post before it goes viral.
• swap out outdated correspondences for modern tools—your phone can be your scrying mirror, your router a beacon for intention-setting.
chaos magic thrives in the city because cities are chaotic. they’re full of random encounters, glitches, synchronicities waiting to be tapped into.
2. QUEER MAGIC: BREAKING RULES, BENDING REALITY
witchcraft has always been the domain of outsiders, rebels, and the marginalized. queer magic embraces fluidity, resistance, and radical self-expression.
• use genderfluid deities, archetypes, and spirits in your workings.
• cast spells at drag shows, pride marches, and underground raves—because those are modern sacred spaces.
• turn self-love into a spell, defying the narratives that say queer people don’t deserve power, joy, or love.
urban queer magic is loud, unapologetic, and built on the bones of those who paved the way before.
TOOLS & MATERIALS: USING THE CITY AS YOUR SPELLBOOK
urban witches don’t need fancy supplies. we use:
• 📱 smart phones – scrying mirrors, digital sigil boards, enchanted playlists
• 🎫 metro cards & transit tickets – protection charms, travel blessings
• 🗝 keys – for unlocking opportunities, closing doors that need to stay shut
• 🖋 pens & sharpies – sigil-making, graffiti spellwork
• 🪙 spare change – prosperity charms, offerings to city spirits
• 🧾 receipts – paper magic, petition spells, glamour workings
if it exists in your daily life, it can be a tool.
EVERYDAY SPELLS & RITUALS
🔮 PROTECTION SPELLS FOR NAVIGATING CITY LIFE
• “doorway ward” – rub salt along your threshold, whispering “no harm may cross this line.”
• “metro shield” – imagine a glowing energy bubble around you before stepping onto public transit.

What im actually doing as a college witch
Hello! I have finally settled into university after a long couple months getting all my affairs in order, and I wanted to do an update post to my university witch series and tell you about tips and tricks that worked for me, and ones that didn't work so much. I am a transfer student, living in campus apartments, and here are some things im doing to keep the magic alive in my life :)
Tumblr media
Things that work
I brought a couple decks with me, but I mostly have switched to online formats like using online rune casters or even using a random wheel picker to do things
I have been using a lot of water magic, using crystal elixirs and rue water (no one is allergic!) to protect my apartment in a college friendly way
I dont really have space for wands or candles, so instead I enchanted my room spray for certain goals, created an academic perfume oil for tests, and enchanted my medications
I use a lot more makeup magic, so certain shades of eyeshadow for test days, using under eyeliner
Created a sigil for testing calm, and another one to help draw anxiety out from me and you just throw it away to keep it away from you
Nap magic has become a really big part of my life, my favorite spell has been saying a prayer before my nap to be fully recharged so I can retain information better
Doing little bits of divination here and there
Nature magic! My campus has a lot of spaces to check out plants and walk with history, so that’s been very grounding
“Sleep magic” so before bed I like to honor water by going to a sacred space in my mind and using wave noises to sleep, it’s a way to have a sacred moment every day easily!
HAIR MAGIC!!! Vailing, braiding, and other stuff with my hair has been amazing! I keep a crystal in my bun, cover my hair for certain observations, and braid it when trying to do stuff. Plus it’s been a great way to connect to my culture
Honest to god baneful magic saved my ass when I got into some hot water so I’m keeping that close to me
What hasn’t worked for me
Daily meditation, I just lack the time to actually sit down and do it, so instead I’ve been integrating it into my mornings and lunch time by eating outside to ground myself
Essential oil magic, as much as I love it, a lot of people are sensitive to scents so I try to just enchant my perfume and body spray instead and pair with a sigil of the day
“Study magic” in general can be really tedious especially when you need to lock in, I would recommend pre-enchanting your notebooks for retention, and just focusing on the content
Any physical items like crystals are great at home, but because I am in so many labs and lectures they tend to just be left home, instead just try to integrate what you can
Really intentional “self care” stuff, like affirmations and such can be really hard to remember, so instead take some time before showers or self care time to just breathe and reflect, and that can be a good enough reset!
As I think of things I hope to include more of my experience as a college witch! I wanted to be transparent in what things worked and what things didn’t, so this was a wonderful check in! Feel free to leave your college magic tips or opinions in the comments!
Fair winds!

book recommendations pt. 1
i read,,, a lot of books. and with a special interest in this shit that means i have a considerable amount of books that are just witchcraft/paganism related. ofc, not all of these are going to be the Best options out there, i know that it's much better to get your information from a primary/secondary source or academic study, but i'm working with what i have and what i know how to get access to. if you have any recommendations or addendums to these, let me know! i'd love to hear what yall have to say.

THE WITCHY BOOKS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sigil craft: teaches you the basics of creating your own sigils using existing imagery, alphabets, and your own creativity
encyclopedia of magical herbs: honestly just a great resource to have for any witch. i'd say any herbal magic book is a must have for a witch
don't wanna buy the book? here's a great alternative!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
crystal, gem and metal magic: another must have imo!! i prefer this book to the crystal bible because that book/those books spend a long time on chakras, whereas this book is more concerned with things like astrological associations and cultural contexts
don't wanna buy the book? here's a post i made that has some basics
enchanted tea time: love this book, it was honestly such a good find. tbh though, i wish there was more clear warnings about some of the ingredients, and some of the recipes like the lucid dreaming ones could have a more thought out presentation
don't wanna buy the book? here's a post i made that's similar
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the complete book of incense, oils and brews: another great book by scott cunningham (honestly i had no idea how much of a shill i was for him until now), but it's probably not a must-have, especially if you're not very crafty or already have an herbal grimoire and a good youtube tutorial
guided tarot: it is so important to me to have a book like this, because no matter how many little guidebooks and online guides i looked through, NONE were as detailed and accurate as this. i personally prefer this book the most out of all that i've seen, although it could have more information on reversed cards tbh. i prefer this book to seventy-eight degrees of wisdom cause that book has some weird overlapping ideas of qabbalah, although i do recognize it's very well written and thought provoking

just some good spellbooks!

🚗 A Witch's Car
Hang a safe travels, protection, or swift travels amulets in the car.
After every car wash and vacuum, sprinkle protection powder/black salt underneath the car mats.
When your car is dirty, draw sigils on it with your finger on the dirt and grime.
Draw sigils after every car with a cloth as you wipe the water off.
Feathers in the glove compartment or door pockets for swift travels.
Anoint seatbelts with travles, protection, and success oils.
I'd avoid oil on the steering wheels and pedals as you can slip.
For long travels, brush your car outside with mugwort, especially the wheels.
Hag stones in your left car door to receive protection and luck.
Bath in feverfew (or spray some on you) before a long journey. Keep feverfew in the car too. It prevents paranoia of accidents, at least it eases my mind.
General lucky amulets, like four leaf clover, should be kept in the car.
Deities of travels and swiftness could have a small dedicated altar in your glove compartment. It can be the whole compartment or just a pocket altar kept in there.
Have an Eight of Wands Tarot card on you as you travel for speed and progress.
Prevent accidents by having wormwood in the car.
Obtain a small car toy or carve one yourself. Obtain something of your real car, be it dirt that's been there for months, mat shavings, etc. Combine your real car piece with your toy car. Anything you anoint this toy car with, will happen to your car. Useful for when it's at the mechanic and you can dress the toy car in healing oils.
Music in the car to scare malevolant spirits away.
Sunglasses in the car is a good idea for those bright days, especially after it has rained. Enchant them with clearer sight.
Success oil on your driver's license.
Sigil or protection powder on your car keys.
Glamour spells on the sun visor mirror.

༺🫀༻
know you are eternal. the energy within you has existed since the beginning of time, space, and the universe — if not before — and it will continue to exist once your physical form has gone, in such different, perhaps unimaginable shapes and ways. we have no beginning nor end. we are eternal life. we are the universe experiencing itself, in a place that is a tiny spec of that which exists for us.
