i watched the entirety of Monkie Kid recently and its such a great series. considering i loved rottmnt and both shows are the made by the same studio i should’ve watched it sooner

I wasn't spoiled in terms of casting so it was a nice surprise to see Tan Jian Ci and Tang Zeng together again(?). They were both amazing in Winter Begonia but as far as I can recall didn't share any scenes, and what a shame because their scenes in the most recent episodes of this series were powerful. The story was so farfetched, even for this series, but they made it work and Tang Zeng's final scenes were so well acted and his character's grief was so moving that I was close to tears, which almost never happens.

That said, despite the fact that they seem to be communicating telepathically Du Cheng does not have a handle on what Shen Yi is doing, or how he might be putting his life in danger in the moment, but he does appear to be aware that Sheng Yi isn't at all well. Does he feel powerless or unable to find a way to help at this point, or does he have a plan to keep Shen Yi from going off the rails completely? I'm finding their dynamic much more compelling than the weird af cases as of episode 20 and hope we get much more screen time with just the two of them before series two finishes.

Chung Myung (as an instructor) always emphasize the basics, he wants everyone from the sect to be strong and capable to protect themselves, he trains everyone hardcore with equality and so proud if the disciples can withstand the obstacles then we have the others like Baek Cheon pushing everyone, and Baek Sang who found his thing in the Finance, everyone have so depths in their characters

Another name for the series could be the cat’ty concubines. Seriously. The entire series is made up of a man the marquis (played by Wallace Chung) who has a lot of concubines that try to outdo one another in all different sinister ways. It also has a. hateful terrible mother who was the one who picked the concubines in the first place who who apparently we are supposed to sympathize with?. For me it takes a handful episodes to get into, but then it becomes fun and enjoyable where you root for the good side watching everything unfold. Yes it might be predictable and cliche but it’s entertaining as heck. Unfortunately it doesn’t last long and towards the last ten episodes it falls of the rails again and becomes meh. Still would recommend it though for a watch just keep the fast forward button handy.
