Sys culture is being infuriated when a system believes in "narcissistic abuse". NPD is literally one step away from system disorders, it's a coping mechanism just like DID/OSDD. Narc abuse isn't real.

I love talking about myself.
You ask me questions about myself? I could spend literal hours happily talking about me.

I'm curious how your take on Jimmy responds to things when made uncomfortable? He seems like the type to avoid vulnerability like the plague
personally i think it depends on the level of vulnerability… he’s definitely very avoidant but i do also think he’s the kind of person to say uncomfortable shit (like “i was too poor for that.” or “i wish my dad was around too.”) unprompted to get a nervous laugh out of someone (curly). however HE has to be the person to bring the uncomfortable factor out.
otherwise when made uncomfortable he makes a snarky comment, rolls his eyes. when he’s confronted with vulnerability or feelings he’s unprepared for/overwhelmed by, he resorts to anger and lashes out, whether that be through verbal abuse/belittling or physically punching someone in the face. either way he does not respond well to uncomfortable situations or vulnerability and always tries to make the other person feel smaller so he can seize control of the situation

Being a narcissist is bizarre because every so often you see someone talking about what it supposedly feels like to be abused by a narcissist and then they describe... what it feels like to be a fucking narcissist

I've read a few fics where Something Happens (Tim accidentally kills someone) and Tim calls one of his older brothers and they come and help him cover up/hide a body but like,, if Damian killed someone (accidentally or otherwise) Tim would not even hesitate that body is already melting in acid. He has crime scene cleaners on retainer and enough blackmail that they'll never say anything.
Tim has like 7 contingency plans for this Exact problem and he is going to do his big brotherly duty of helping his younger sibling cover up a mistake/laps of judgement.
And Damian is waiting for the other shoe to drop bc this is the perfect time for Timothy to oust him. He broke father's rule and now he'll be sent back
But Tim continues to say nothing and eventually even corners Damian and is like "bestie you gotta c h i l l they know somethings up I can't keep using puberty as an excuse for you" and Damian is like "why wouldn't you use this opportunity to prove you're the better son. To finally get me out of the house and claim your place is the heir" and Tim is like "uh im your older brother this is my job" and Damian is like "it is an older brother's job to help hide their younger sibling's murders??" And Tim is like "yeah absolutely except don't go to Dick or Jason only go to me or maybe Cass if I'm not around I think Dick would have a conniption and we don't want Jason to relapse"

Why is it that JT antis/crits can never articulate what they find distasteful about him without exaggerating?! Literally saw earlier where someone said Jason psychologically tortured Mia in Seeing Red and killed hundreds of prisoners ~just serving their sentence~ in Batman and Robin.
Neither of those assertions are true.
Jason does kidnap Mia, so that entire sequence is under duress, but all they do is talk and fight a little. If you think having someone going "you just like me for real" wrt your trauma, pls see a therapist. Mia is an out and proud survivor; Jason, in his incredibly dysfunctional manner, was trying to relate to her on that level.
Did he do a good?! No, not rly.
But was that psychological torture?! Absolutely not.
Also, despite how horrifically DC's artists tend to draw Jason, he is, at most, 19 years old in that comic. And that's without taking into account the fact that he was dead for six months, comatose for a year, and then catatonic for another year on top of that.
And let's get into this prison poisoning in Batman and Robin. Because people seem to think Jason just did that for shits and giggles. And I mean, it's clear that that's what he wants you to think. However, he was provoked. Some of the people ~just serving their sentence~ tried to kill him first.
Was that an extreme reaction?! Yes, it most certainly was.
Was it unwarranted?! No, it absolutely was not.
What, was he supposed to roll over and just let these people get away with their murder attempts?! Get fucking real!!
I just... What is the fucking purpose of criticizing a character if you aren't going to *criticize the character*?! It literally just sounds like many of y'all realized any critique of Jason could easily apply to the Bats, at large, so you gotta make him evilpsychobad in order to make it stick. But y'all sound ridiculous.
In fact, you sound like the cops you keep accusing Jason of being.
You might want to fix that.

What I am liking about TROP this season is that threaded within the storylines of a fantasy show, there are little messages that feel very current.
Take Celebrimbor, for example. Pretty much every modern educated person can relate to being ambitious on some level, and forgetting what truly matters. We see it happening in the show to Celebrimbor. He is a generally kind, capable elf, with a perfectly good life going on in his beautiful city with his happy people, but he is running after the mirage of outdoing Feanor’s legacy. Feanor did something great with the Silmarils, sure, but his actions later brought terrible grief to the elves. But all Celebrimbor can focus on is the fact that he did something memorable, and that Celebrimbor himself must live up to that. He focused on his own insecurities instead of celebrating his wins, and those insecurities were exploited by Sauron to use him and destroy him and his city.
Young professionals in particular see this happening to them far too often, having to hustle like crazy, asked to live up to nearly unattainable standards, and being forced to lose sight of who they are as people and why their gentler, finer qualities matter. Their insecurities are repeatedly exploited by malicious bosses in their work life, and by toxic relatives and friends and partners in their personal life. I see Celebrimbor as a cautionary tale for these people, including myself.

Have been actively resisting re-reading lionheart lately because my reading list is sooooo long and reading time is soooooo limited, so I was extremely excited to learn about M+G Readings! I’ve listened all yesterday evening while doing chores, and I keep finding myself going back to Hermione having to pretend Draco, Harry, and Ron are girls when discussing her friends with her family. I can’t help but wonder if she made up just really horrible feminine versions of their names to help keep her from slipping up??
On the same note, it has been so much fun to go back to book one just to see how much your babies have grown and matured! They were all such little shits (affectionately) except for our sweet harry, of course.
Hello! Yes! M+G's podfic is a superlative piece of fanwork and the talent involved is off the charts. As someone with zero experience in the field of audio mixing, the whole process reads like magic to me.
The elder Mrs. Granger (not to be confused with her daughter-in-law, Dr. Granger) is, of course, always delighted to hear about her granddaughter's various adventures with Harriet, Veronica, and Darcy.

I really do believe that there are no bad kids, only good kids having a hard time.
That doesn't mean I didn't frogmarch two neighbor kids out of my yard about thirteen milliseconds after they (meanly) dumped dirt on my (younger, smaller) daughter's head. (And I know it was mean because one kid said he didn't want the other to do it to him.... and then goaded him to dump it on my kid instead.)
