Mini-review:

Damn, this is one masterful piece of television. It's outstanding in pretty much every regard (save for one, but I'll get to that later). From the very first episode, you can just tell the show's cast and crew poured all their passion into making this. The sets and costumes are amazingly detailed, and the writing is nothing short of spellbending; it's pretty much impossible to pry your eyes away from the screen. And the acting... just WOW. This is one superb ensemble. Everyone is so f**king good that I can't even pick an MVP. As for the one thing I didn't like, that would be the cinematography. This show falls prey to the Hollywood trend of making some scenes so dark that you can't see anything. But still, everything else is absolutely incredible, so I can forgive them for the darkness. Anyway, if you haven't started Shōgun already, you really should do it as soon as possible. It's a true must-watch.

End-Class Princess: the Other Assassin

In which Takeshi looses the plot, Kurokawa Hana ends up dragging him along with it anyway, and a dog starts to revert to a wolf.

The first day of middle school, Takeshi hears some classmates sniggering about a prank they played on Sawada-Chan. They seem so pleased with themselves, at the reaction that Hibari-Senpai will have when she makes it to school tomorrow. Takeshi frowns slightly. Sawada-Chan is nice. She didn’t deserve that. He resolved to try and be extra nice to her when she came back.

Takeshi is restless. Sawada-Chan hasn’t been at school all week. They’d had a test already, and everyone had laughed about his low scores, saying that at least he had baseball. It stung worse than usual, turning his head slightly and not seeing a distressed pair of brown eyes and wringing hands. He hadn’t realized that he kept an eye out for her, or noticed that she worried about his grades. It’s been a week, surely she’s not sick? Hibari-Senpai has been rougher than usual too.

It’s a month into the new school year, and it feels like he’s the only one who’s noticed that Sawada-Chan hasn’t shown up. Everyone else seems to be forgetting about her altogether, except Kurokawa-San. She occasionally glances at a particular empty desk and frowns.

Takeshi squints his eyes shut to hide his irritation, flashing a toothy grin. To be honest, it feels more like he’s baring his teeth. The baseball team is getting on his nerves. Before, he’d been able to work it out on the diamond, the sheer physicality and camaraderie of the team pulling together soothing him. But as the weeks drag on, it works less and less. The team favors him as a star player, but they seem to be pulling less of their own weight.

He tells himself he’s just being overly sensitive. This year has just been unusually stressful. Once he adjusts to middle school, it’ll get better.

(He glances at an empty desk, than away. He accidentally locks eyes with Kurokawa-San doing the same. Maybe he should see if she wants to talk.)

Kurokawa-San seems to be the only other person who’s noticed that Sawada-Chan hasn’t been to school once. Even Sasagawa-Chan just brushes it off with a vague, “who? Oh, Dame-Tsuna! Do you think she had to go to another school for extra tutoring?” She’s nice about it, at least.

Kurokawa-San is surprised when he points out no one has seen her in town either.

“I didn’t think you paid her that much attention,” she stated. “Huh. I suppose even a monkey like you can tell what would happen if you asked her out.”

It’s not that. It’s just. He didn’t realize how much the glimpses of her had settled him down before. Right now it just feels someone is rubbing sandpaper on the inside of his skin. It’s not an unfamiliar feeling, it always happens over the summer. Usually it goes away when school starts up and he can play baseball. But baseball isn’t working like it usually does. Sawada-chan’s mysterious disappearance gives him something to focus on so he doesn’t use his bat like a shinai and makes the second string players run faster.

His dad would be upset if he did that.

Takeshi realizes intellectually that he should be proud to be playing an away game in his first year of middle school, even with his less than stellar grades. He’s more distracted by imaging all the ways he could really hurt people. Kurokawa is helping, a little, ever since she noticed his struggle to keep his smile up.

“Stop pushing yourself around me, like some sort of stupid monkey,” she said bluntly. “I know you’re a wolf, try not to go rabid.”

He’s pretty sure people are starting to think they’re dating, the way he seeks her out. She mostly doesn’t care, and uses it as an excuse to get away with physically grounding him. The desperate rasping inside him is growing worse.

If this keeps up, they’re both worried he’s going to kill someone. And not even Hibari-senpai is paying enough attention to notice.

Takeshi whips his head around as they’re escorted to the sports field. Had that been, Sawada-Chan? What would she be doing here?

After the game, the coach lets them wander around the market a bit, as a reward for winning. Takeshi takes him up on it, managing to shed the usual hangers-on that he has after a game. The sandpaper and chisels that have been steadily working away inside his skin are joined by anxious jangling bells. He can’t figure out what’s wrong with him.

“Yamamoto-kun?” A familiar voice rings out, puzzled.

He turns and the bells go silent, the chisels drop away from his bones, and the sandpaper pauses. Sawada-Chan is staring at him, pale amber eyes meeting his properly for once, a cloth bag slung over her shoulder. Takeshi beams at her. Oh. So this is why Kurokawa called him a wolf.

“Sawada-Chan! How have you been? Kurokawa and I have missed you,” he comes up to talk to her without hesitation. He’s almost dizzy as whatever has been clawing at him finally quiets down.

Eventually, he manages to convince her invite him back her place. She leads him to an apartment, tossing him concerned looks from the corner of her eye. Takeshi feels something in him preen in pleasure. He’d never noticed her do that before, but the feeling is very familiar. She has worried about him, and not because of his baseball skills.

She looks good, her shoulders held back and her gaze steady. He had never noticed her eyes were so light before, almost the same shade as fossilized amber. She’d always had her head down before. Takeshi likes it.

“I texted Rika-Chan, she said it was alright to lend you her slippers,” Sawada-Chan pulled out a pair of guest shoes for him.

They were still a little stiff, but he was too distracted by how many pairs of shoes were tidily tucked into the shelves of cubbies by the door. While she’d been gone, she’d become close enough to a lot of people, close enough to have guest slippers. He ruthlessly suppressed the urge to mess them up. What if she got mad at him and threw him out? He wasn’t ready to face the noise yet.

Her apartment was small, but cozy. There was a beat up old kotatsu where she was putting some tea for him, and a faded couch. There were little touches everywhere that called to mind comfort. (He liked the amateur ink painting of a puppy of some kind, tripping over its paws chasing a ball.) Takeshi was seized by the desire to roll around the whole place and never leave. A plate of dumplings, lopsided and mismatched, found themselves next to the tea.

Eventually, he has to go, but he managed to spend several hours talking to Sawada-Chan. She’s bolder than she used to be, but still doesn’t say much. Takeshi is pleased with himself when he manages to get her to forget to be wary and snark back at him. She even let him take a nap on her couch while she did homework leaning against it.

No wonder she’s in Kunugigaoka now. He doesn’t even know where to start, and she’s flying through the worksheets.

There’s a slim hand nudging his shoulder. It’s not Kurokawa, and it’s not his otusan. His hand snaps up, snake quick, to latch onto the wrist. He misses. It’s so unusual, that he actually pauses before remembering where he was.

“Oh, sorry, Sawada-Chan!” He grins desperately. “I didn’t recognize you!” Please don’t send him away. He doesn’t want to have her shrink away from him again. He doesn’t know what he’d do if she flinched from him. Kurokawa is getting better at genuinely not flinching, even when she gets cut by the edges he can’t hide anymore.

“It’s fine,” he almost collapses as she waves it off. “But the buses are going to stop running for the night, your otousan has already called you.”

He gets her number before he lets himself be ushered out the door, nearly running into her neighbor who eyes him suspiciously. Not even Takeshi’s best sheepish grin erases the unfriendly look in the man’s eyes. It, probably didn’t help that he was disheveled, and still smelled a bit sweaty from the baseball game earlier. It didn’t look good, a teenage boy walking out of girl’s apartment looking like that.

Takeshi avoided his gaze and hurried to the bus depot. His otousan had been pleased that the reason he’d gone missing was running into a friend and loosing track of time, and not something, else. But he’s heard the warning to make it back tonight, and so had Sawada-Chan. She’d all but thrown him out the door, tugging on a worn pair of running shoes to lead him to the bus depot in time to catch the last bus to Namimori.

As the bus tumbled into the night, he wonders when he can make time to come back again, and how many times it will take before his shoes have a space in her entrance.

word count: 665 ship: 1896 (HibaChrome) Chrome's Birthday 2024 Summary: Hibari was never a very social guy, but one girl caught his eye with a love confession one day and now where things went for them? Only time could tell. Gift for @thehandworld

He'd never been a very social guy. Sometimes that's just how it has to be, you gotta close yourself off before the wrong person gets in and does so much irreparable damage that you're left as nothing more than a hollow shell of the man you once thought you were. He was the strongest, but that strength didn't come from nowhere, he'd learned to fight, to bare his fangs and claw his way out then lick the wounds in silence when he could no longer stand as the bodies piled up beneath him. A lone wolf isn't always exiled from the pack, sometimes they're just better off running free and operating solo.

Few dared to cross his path, even less dared to reach out and touch him. Icy glares and a cold touch to match, he wasn't the most inviting guy in the Vongola and that was how he always wanted it. The more he intimidated, the less trouble he would run into. And the less trouble he ran into meant the safer the others would be. Ever aloof, ever drifting he walked his own path and refused to be held back by anyone or bound to any organization.

And that all changed when Hibari met the quietest girl in the school. It seemed she was social at least with a few others, like Sasagawa's sister and Kurokawa at least of the girls at Namimori. The girl seemed to be closer with the boys, a set of boys he knew were trouble, Sasagawa Ryohei, Yamamoto Takeshi, Gokudera Hayato and one that got under his skin specifically, Sawada Tsunayoshi.

As much as the guys got on his nerves, Chrome didn't. She was calm and quiet and rather peaceful to be around. He noted her shyness complimented his silence and her company was often appreciated as he never got any trouble out of her. However this silence between them meant he honestly didn't know much about her except that her birthday was coming up soon and she seemed to like sweets as he often caught her snacking with the other girls sometimes when he'd take a walk in the evening.

He didn't know her favorite animal but some of the small cakes were decorated kind of cutely and one in particular stood out to him, a snow owl cupcake. He honestly wasn't certain where to find her, but he had a feeling if he looked for the other girls he'd find her. However when he did, his worst fear was confirmed. They mistook it as the two of them dating.

"Hahi! Chrome-chan has a boyfriend now!" He heard Haru exclaim.

"It's Hibari-san!" Kyoko added. He wanted to get on his motorcycle and run away as fast as he could. If he was her boyfriend, that meant he'd have to deal with Mukuro more often. For a split second it didn't actually sound that bad.

Hibari didn't want to interrupt her time with her friends and took out a slip of paper and a pen from his pocket and quickly scribbled his number down. "Call me when you're done, I have a surprise for you." And he turned red as he walked away and heard the words "love confession?!" Come out of Kyoko's mouth.

Was it love? Not quite. Yes he wanted to get to know her better, but that was all this was so far. And while Hibari let his thoughts consume him, Chrome climbed up to the roof of the school and sat down next to him silently hugging her knees to her chest and unconsciously snuggling closer to him without realizing.

"It is a nice view, isn't it, Hibari-san." She blushed and hid her face against her knees.

"Ah, it is." He wrapped an arm around her. "I just wanted someone to share it with."

It might have been a small confession, but it was at least the start of something for the both of them, where it went from here, only time could tell.

Don't worry at all, there's no rush.

Oh I see what you meant. Well, Hanabi is one of the latest babies to be born, so basically everyone was already there for his birth. More or less.

They have separate friends group, but they all know eachother. Groups will mix a lot once Hanabi and Xavier start dating.

Hanabi doesn't really think about his bfs as guardians, he likes to picture them like they are some sort of power rangers. Hanabi grew up aware of the fact that Tsuna has guardians and he wondered whether or not he had guardians too. Hayato explained to him he supposedly had some guardians already, because after all guardians are something like your closer friends, your chosen family.

Vongola Eleventh Storm Guardian- Margarita Blanco, cis female, straight and basically Gokudera's mirror. She has long curly dark green hair and blue eyes. She was found in the streets by Gokudera and he basically adopted her, not as a daughter, more as a student. She was trained by Gokudera personally and she grew up emulating Gokudera. That's probably why she is always yelling "Eleventh" to Hanabi and has a crush on him. Margarita reminded Gokudera of himself, when he was fighting for his life in the streets. Saving her was kinda like saving himself once again.

Vongola Eleventh Rain Guardian - Amelia Yamamoto. Cis female, bi. Long dark hair and Haru's eyes, yes because she is Takeshi Yamamoto and Haru Miura's child. She is very enthusiastic like both her parents and she is very nice. She likes to bring calm and also to make chaos, it depends on the situation. She was born the year before Hanabi and she is very close to Hanabi, they were raised together along side Ikuyo (Ino) Sasagawa.

Vongola Eleventh Sun Guardian - Ikuyo Ino Sasagawa. Cis female, straight. Hana Kurokawa and Ryohei Sasagawa's child. She has short dark hair and grey eyes. She doesn't like her real name which is Ikuyo, that's why she went for Ino, like her dad likes to call her. She was basically born a month before Amelia and they are very close. They are always together and look kinda like twins. Growing up their bodies changes showing different shapes, Amelia is very slender and fit, while Ino is more strong and soft. She took a lot after her father. Let's just say Eleventh generation looks a lot like the Tenth. After all... Offsprings.

She is very close to Hanabi too, the three of them were almost always together when they were babies. They grew up as siblings.

Vongola Eleventh Cloud Guardian- Geneve de Mort. You already know about his cloud, but let's just say Geneve had a small crush on Hanabi too and both Tsuna and Hayato are very relieved it was just a phase.

Vongola Eleventh Lighting Guardian- Pietro Rizzo. Cis male, questioning. He is a very cute boy common for his physical features. He was isolated in middle school and Hanabi is attracted to outsiders, so he decided to approach him. On the other side Pietro himself wanted to get to know Hanabi better because he could feel his energy like a soothing one, a safe one. They become very close friends easily and he is the only person outside mafia to join the family.

Vongola Eleventh Mist Guardian- Louis Valois Orleans. Gender disaster, sexuality definitely not straight. He is Fran's cousin and he basically doesn't have a brain. I mean he has a brain, but it works in a questionable way. He is the reason why Hanabi took not his best decisions and 3/4 of the chaos in Vongola Eleventh Gen. He and Hanabi are very close, a package as Lou likes to remind constantly. He like to be Hanabi's shadow that much Xavier wondered at first if he were supposed to date Lou too to get Hanabi. Lucky for him Lou has the hots for Eddie, but I'll leave the honour to @masterdisastre.

Yes, Hanabi grew up sheltered, totally. Both Tsuna and Hayato are terrified their child could go through some traumatic experiences and they try to prevent that from happening in every possible way. Hanabi is spoiled, but he is also gentle and generous.

Hanabi and death... Well...

Let's just say Tsuna brought peace to the mafia, but the devil never sleeps and Vongola are made of far too many people, because Tsuna has such a big heart and he offered shelter and a job to all people who swore him loyalty, without really looking deep into these people. He just offered another chance, that's why there have been spies among the trusted ones and some of them slipped info about Hanabi, the six flames newborn. So, basically what happened in that some people had tried to kidnap Hanabi when he was just a few months old and Tsuna killed in that occasion. But Hanabi was too young to remember, he didn't acknowledge any death around him. He met the very concept in movies and stories and first time he asked of Gokudera's mom.

Tsuna's subordinates are pretty alive.

Hanabi's favourite dinosaur is pterodactyl, he really likes the sound it makes and they funny shape it has. He likes to replicate that sound, much to Tsuna and Hayato's "happiness".

Hanabi doesn't really have a style till high school. He doesn't even like to dress, he would go around naked if possible because it's such a pain in the ass. He prefers baggy clothes, comfortable and pajamas like. Growing up he goes through a punk phase. In his twenties he has basically a style made of everything he likes and let's just say that he likes a lot of different things.

He's strongest flame is sky, that's why after all he is still a sky, his weakest is sun, which is something that he struggles to accept because he'd like to be able to heal people faster. He tries to train each flame individually and to explore the potential combined. Gokudera told him about the CAI system just to give him a hint to create his own combinations.

He really enjoys vanilla tea, he likes sweet and soft flavours.

Hanabi's first dead body comes at primary school when he was abducted by a stranger. That time said stranger was killed, but Hanabi was told he had just fell off the stairs and he basically had had a very bad nightmare. Which is not true. Growing up he is going to have some flashes of a head slammed to the floor followed by a gunshot.

His favourite flame is sun, he really like its power and his favourite colour is green and he shows that very early.

Btw I need to say something about Camelia Bianchi, Hanabi's cousin. She is a pain in the ass but at least she doesn't poison food.

So when Chikusa was first introduced he said Gokudera & Yamamoto’s seat numbers so I thought that I could use those seat numbers along with the panel from the Future Arc to figure out what Tsuna & Kyoko’s seat numbers were as well since my understanding is that in Japan seats are assigned at the beginning of the year based on their student number which is based on alphabetical order. 

But when I actually made a layout of the classroom Gokudera & Yamamoto’s numbers didn’t fit at all

 I understand that some schools shuffle seating arrangements at various points in the year so I guess there’s a chance that everyones seats got shuffled some time between the Kokuyo Arc & the Future Arc but the thing is their seat are still in alphabetical order since Gokudera would be in a seat before Sasagawa & Sasagawa would be in a seat before Sawada & Sawada would be in a seat before Yamamoto ect. 

There’s also the fact that when I went back to look at the Kokuyo arc Gokudera isn’t in the front row which he should be if he was seat number 8 so at first I thought that during the Kokuyo Arc random numbers were just chosen.

But looking at the picture of the class from the future arc more closely it looks like the last seats of the first two rows are missing meaning that the seating layout looks more like this

Now there are still not the right seat numbers but if you take the theory everyones seats got shuffled some time between the Kokuyo Arc & the Future Arc then Gokudera’s seat number would work since there would be a seat in front of him if he was seat number 8. I looked through the manga to see if I could find Tsuna’s seat during the Kokuyo arc & found that when he starts his second year of middle school he’s in the front row or at least a row ahead of Gokudera

So if we take Tsuna being at the front of the class since Gokudera being in seat number 8 means that he’s in the second row & that fact that the seating numbers are alphabetic order means that Tsuna’s seat number is before Yamamoto’s the seating plan of Tsuna’s class during the Kokuyo arc would look like this

So Tsuna would likely be Seat Number 13 during the Kokuyo arc, I couldn’t find Kyoko’s seat but sticking to alphabetic order she would have to be somewhere between seat numbers 9-12 & if we are looking at Tsuna’s other classmates Kurokawa comes before Gokudera in the Japanese alphabet so she would be somewhere between seats number 1-7

The anime has a bit of a different seating layout than the manga in that they give Tsuna a smaller class making the seating layout look like this

With Hana sitting next to Kyoko so the seating looks like this:

You can’t take the seat numbers that Chikusa says into account for their second year class because in the anime the Kokuyo arc happens in their first year while in the manga it happens in their second year but if you want Hana to sit next to Kyoko like she does in the anime then her seat number at the start of her second year in middle school in the manga would be somewhere between seats 3-6.

So the seating numbers for Tsuna’s class would be:

Kurokawa Hana - Between Seats 3-6

Gokudera Hayato - Seat 8

Sasagawa Kyoko - Between Seats 9-12

Sawada Tsunayoshi - Seat 13

Yamamoto Takeshi - Seat 15

What are some pairings in khr that you can see being executed well in canon?:O

I know they’re canon but Ryohei and Hana are pretty cool. The only thing you get for this ship in canon is a photo in the future and a mountain of fanon. We all know Amano loves a good plot hole or random thing tossed in never to be spoken about again but this was actually a nice one. We know Hana likes older guys because she thinks they’re mature which speaks volumes about Hana at 14. Like any 14 year old being older = mature to her so it’s funny she ends up with the older guy who’s also the most immature.

6918 is a given

Whether you explore them as good friends in the way that hibari and Mukuro have good friends or as something more, it’s interesting. Both of these characters operate the same in their respective lives. They choose to be standoff-ish and come across as not needing theirs underlings while always stepping in conveniently when they need an Ally. They have a mutual respect for each other not to mention the obsession with each other’s strength that’s different from their curiosity around Tsuna’s. Two sides of the same coin and they’d be on better or worse grounds finding that out.

Idk any others off the top of my head but I think fanon pairings done well will always work in canon. They explore relationships with what they’re given and honestly have some pretty interesting aspects platonic or romantic. It’s fun to see when it’s leaning more towards canon so it feels realistic. But even when it doesn’t it’s still fun sometimes.
