I found a new “friend” to make coding much more fun and “easier”

A couple months ago, my classmate, Vero, recommend me a very interesting application named Mimo that helps me a lot on learning code.

This app grabbed my attention for a while. You enter answers, select options and get rewards. Plus you have a streak to keep up – so you better not miss a day!

You can find it easily on App Store and Google Play as well and it’s totally free 👏👏👏

How’s cool about Mimo

Mimo’s best feature is simplicity. It’s easy to use and addictive. It guides you through a path and helps you get to where you want to go.

So far I’ve consumed over 20 courses on HTML and CSS code and I’m now making my way through Javascript.

Mimo is also good for making you feel rewarded. It gives you coins (at intervals that sometimes seem a bit random) and there’s a leaderboard each week. You start at the bronze league and if you do enough – after 7 days you’re onto stone.

One of the things I’ve enjoyed the most is the reassurance that I knew more than I thought I did. But I’ve also been learning things that were probably quite simple about the code I knew – the structure, names and the meaning.

For example, look at some lessons about “image” and the way to use <img> in HTML.

If you’ve ever thought “my coding is ok, but it can be better” then, the Mimo app is for you. Or if you’ve never coded before and want a simple way to get started then get on Mimo. 

I’d also recommend it if you know a few languages – and want to try something new.

Germanizmy, czyli polskie słowa pochodzące z niemieckiego

Żaden kraj nie żyje w próżni. Nic więc dziwnego, że języki, którymi się porozumiewamy przenikają się wzajemnie. Bardzo często przejmujemy słowa z języków osób, z którymi mamy styczność. Z tego właśnie powodu w języku polskim mamy wiele słów, które pochodzą z języka niemieckiego. Kraj ten sąsiaduje z naszym, przez wieki miał wpływ na naszą historię, przez co w dniu dzisiejszym możemy zaobserwować bardzo wiele słów, które brzmią bardzo podobnie w obu językach. Poznajmy je.

Czym są germanizmy?

Mówiąc najprościej germanizmy to nic innego jak zapożyczenia z języka niemieckiego. Nie są to jedynie pojedyncze słowa, ale również konstrukcje zdaniowe oraz zwroty wyrazowe. Zapożyczeń z języka niemieckiego jest w naszym języku naprawdę sporo. Słownik wyrazów obcych PWN wskazuje, że jest to aż ponad 3000 słów. Germanizmy dołączyły do naszego języka już w XIII i XIV wieku. Działo się to za sprawą korzystania z prawa magdeburskiego przy nadawaniu miastom statusów prawnych. To właśnie dlatego wiele słów zapożyczonych z języka niemieckiego to słowa związane z instytucjami, prawem i budownictwem. Wśród nich wymienić możemy słowa takie jak: burmistrz, ratusz, kanclerz, blacha, cegła, rura, gmina czy handel.

Zabory i ich wpływ na język polski

Historia Polski i Niemiec nie zawsze była pozytywna. Nie zabrakło trudnych momentów takich jak okres zaborów. One również miały wpływ na nasz język i sprawiły, że pojawiło się w nim wiele słów, które pochodziły z języka niemieckiego. Wśród nich wymienić możemy nie tylko te, które znalazły się w ogólnej polszczyźnie, którą mówimy wszyscy, ale również te, które przeniknęły do gwar i dialektów. Słowa takie jak plajta, rajbach, fajrant czy sztanca to flagowe przykłady niemieckich zapożyczeń, które są wciąż powszechnie używane, mimomimo że nie są to słowa znajdujące się w codziennym użyciu na terenie całego kraju. Niemieckie zapożyczenia znajdziemy w gwarze poznańskiej, śląskiej, a także w języku kaszubskim gdzie stanowią około 5% zasobu słownictwa.Podsumowując, język niemiecki miał duży wpływ na to, jak wygląda nasz język polski. Co ciekawe, wpływał nie tylko na nas, ale również na język czeski, a nawet rosyjski. Zapożyczone słowa wciąż są powszechnie używane, wiele z nich trudno zastąpić polskimi odpowiednikami (jak np. nazwy stanowisk).Obecnie o wiele częściej zaczynamy korzystać ze słów, które pochodzą z języka angielskiego i spolszczać je. Nie oznacza to jednak, że język niemiecki nie ma obecnie żadnego wpływu na to, jak mówimy po polsku.
