Wanda was excited to start her first day at Oscorp, of course she never told Jarvis where she was working. Oscorp and Stark Industries are the biggest rivals in the USA, both companies sell high tech software and Oscorp also sell pharmaceuticals and weapons, something which Tony had stopped Stark Industries manufacturing. So Stark had lost a lot of investors due to lack of materials.
"Why are you up so early?" Jarvis asked his wife as she sat at the table, a cup of coffee in one hand and a slice of toast in the other.
"I have my first day today." She told him as she put the cup down, gathering her things.
"What time will you be home?" He questioned as she raised her brow. "I just want to know if I should expect dinner or not when I walk through the door."
"Seriously?" She scoffed as he gazed at her. "I am not a little housewife. It is not my job to mother you!" She left the toast and coffee on the table as she grabbed her purse, heading straight to the door. "Don't expect me to cook dinner for you tonight." She told him before she slammed the door behind her. Heading straight into the cold city air as she walked to Oscorp. Making her way up to the top floor after retrieving her I.D. badge.
"Wanda, good morning." Jean greeted her as she entered the office.
"Good morning. How are you and the little one?" She asked her as Jean smiled, resting her hand on her stomach.
"We are both great." She answered before Y/N walked in, three cups and a bag of donuts.
"Green tea for Jean, coffee for me and coffee for Wanda." They handed them the cups before placing the donuts on the desk. "And breakfast." The two women thanked them before Jean handed them a file.
"You have a meeting with Dr Stacy about the new antibiotic." Jean told them as they nodded.
"Would you spend this week showing Wanda how everything is done here?" They asked her. "I want her to know everything before you leave but if she doesn't get everything, I will always help if you need me." They told the two who just nodded. Wanda watched as they disappeared down the hall and towards the elevator.
"They don't really get a moment." Jean told Wanda who nodded, grabbing a seat beside the pregnant woman. "You seemed to be upset when you came in." Jean observed as Wanda shook her head.
"Just marital problems." Wanda shrugged as Jean looked at her shocked.
"But you're so young." She whispered as Wanda chuckled.
"We have been together forever." Wanda told her, soon interrupted by the phone ringing, watching as Jean showed her how to get into Y/N's schedule. Wanda was shocked at how many meetings they had in a day, and what time they actually finished work.
"They also never really rest." Jean told her.
"I can see." Wanda nodded as she swallowed.
"You won't be staying that long unless they need you for an emergency." Jean told her. "But the overtime is generous." The two had gone on with Jean showing Wanda how to use the company software and how to make the changes as Y/N headed towards the labs.
"So, how far along is the process?" They asked her as she looked up from her tablet.
"It is almost done, we just need to start trials soon." Gwen started. "It is supposed to be stronger than your average oral antibiotic, tackling the source of the infection. We have tried it on a test dummy but we won't get sufficient results until we open up for human trials."
"Get the FDA to sign off on the trials first." They told her as she handed them another file.
"We have also had to adjust the formula of the tranquilizers." She informed them. "The old formula was." She made a face. "It was too potent."
"Just keep me informed, inform the FDA and get that approval." They told her before they walked away with the new files in their hands. Once Y/N had made it back to the office, they spotted both Jean and Wanda chatting comfortably. "Ms Maximoff, a word please." They held the office door open for her which she had quickly moved inside. "Please, have a seat." Wanda was quick to follow their order as they placed the files down in their growing pile. "I assume that Jean has shown you most of the database."
"Yes." Wanda answered as Y/N smiled at her.
"Wanda." They stood up from their seat and looked out of the window for a brief moment before continuing. "I had to do some of my own research and it seems that your husband is none other than the son of Anthony Stark."
"I can explain." She tried, thinking she was going to lose her job.
"I know you can." They gave her a smile. "But I also have another contract for you to sign. It protects the assets of Oscorp and its investors." They reached inside their draw for a binded contract. "It pretty much states that you cannot speak of anything that happens inside of this building, or you will be facing a lawsuit." Wanda nodded in understanding, of course she hated the idea of lying to her husband but she needed to earn her way, not like anyone would understand. She held out her hand for a pen which they handed her one from their pen pot. "Just a quick question darling." They asked as they took the contract. "Why do you want to work if being Jarvis Stark's wife provides for you?"
"I want to be able to earn my own money." She told them honestly. "I don't want to be known as Jarvis Stark's pretty little wife."
"Then why did you marry him?" They questioned as she bit the inside of her cheek. A small smirk formed on their face before they smiled guiltily at her. "My apologies, it isn't my place."
"I love him." She told them, her eye contact never faltering. "I have loved him since the moment he asked me out, as nervous as he was for being the infamous Tony Stark's son. He was the complete opposite to his father, he was sweet and loyal, kind and caring."
"You said that as in the past tense." They told her. "So, you don't think he is the same man you fell in love with?"
"Are you my shrink?" Wanda questioned with a raised brow, making Y/N chuckle lightly before leaning on the desk before her.
"I just want the best for my employees Wanda." They told her, nothing but genuine affirmation of the words laced their tone. "I know the people outside of this company think I am heartless. A power hungry being but I only want what's right for every one who works for Oscorp, that is what Norman taught me before he left me as the sole successor of his company." Wanda listened as they spoke. "The company is as strong as the people who run it. I just keep everything in order, it's the employees who keep Oscorp running, their ideas, their knowledge, their creations keep Oscorp from going underground."
"I can say that I was one of those people." Wanda whispered as Y/N laughed a little.
"Wanda, you are now one of the people who keep Oscorp running too. You keep me on schedule and arrange the appointments for the investors." They rested their hand on her shoulder. "So I only have your best interests at heart." With that they grabbed their next file before heading to the door with Wanda following. "Just know you can always come to me." With that they opened the door for her before heading to Jean.
"Mr Fisk is downstairs." She informed them.
"Why don't you both order lunch? Take a break." They suggested, before they headed to the elevator, leaving Wanda pondering their last conversation.
"What is the deal with them and Norman?" Wanda asked Jean who shook her head.
"That is not my place to tell." She told her. "I only knew because I was Norman's assistant before Y/N took over."
"So you've been here longer?" She questioned as Jean shook her head.
"No, Y/N was always here, shadowing him, learning how to run the company. They even helped with the Glider Project." Jean told her. "Of course it failed, an accident happened and well, Norman scrapped it."
Wanda was most certainly drawn into the mystery that is Y/N Y/L/N.

Everyday I see looms for sale on facebook marketplace and everyday I yearn so so deeply, but I have no weaving experience beyond some very basic tablet bracelet kids stuff. Is there a good "beginners" loom that I might look out for if one pops up in my area?
a rigid heddle loom is a wonderful introduction to weaving that will allow you to get familiar with the basics of setting up a loom, woven structure, finishing, etc. while being more affordable than a multishaft table or floor loom as well as involving less moving parts. it depends on where you live, but generally the most common rigid heddle loom you'll find on secondhand sites is by ashford, a company from nz/aotearoa. any manufacturer is fine, just make sure the listing comes with all parts, ie. the heddle, warping peg, shuttles, etc. there are tons of free resources online from the manufacturers sites as well as youtube tutorials and books that can teach you every step of the process of using a rigid heddle loom

The thing parked outside is . . . theoretically a towncar. Theoretically.
Match doesn’t actually think towncars are typically equipped with obvious armor and subtly “concealed” weaponry as accents, though. At least not the kind that’s clearly designed to handle open warfare, anyway. There are tanks he’s seen that were less prepared for open warfare.
“Right on schedule, Mr. Luthor,” the chauffeur says, then holds the car door open for Luthor as the bodyguard slips into the front passenger seat. Match . . . doesn’t actually know what he’s expected to do here. Obviously the chauffeur’s going to be the one driving, but he’s never ridden in a car; only the kind of transport vehicles the Agenda uses, most of which are military-issue or at least militarized designs.
The chauffeur raises a pointed eyebrow at him, still holding the door open. Luthor’s already settled into the back of the towncar and seems to be occupied with skimming the contents of a tablet that was left on one of the seats.
Match . . . doesn’t have any orders. Or even instructions. Or–anything.
He’s supposed to get in the car, he thinks. It’s the logical deduction, that he’s supposed to do that.
But no one’s told him to do that.
Technically, he could still kill any one of them. Kill all three of them, if he’s careful about it. Luthor isn’t going to be able to pull out any kryptonite if he’s having a TTK-induced massive stroke. Technically, he could kill them all and just go back into the facility and–
“‘Joseph’ seems appropriate, but also implies I’m willing to share,” Luthor muses idly, not looking up from his tablet. “But ‘Alexander’ is just too on the nose, and doesn’t account for your brother anyway.”
. . . “share”, Match wonders? Share what?
“Superboy isn’t my brother,” he repeats. Luthor spares him a dry look.
“I’m your father,” he says. “I’m perfectly aware of who your siblings are.”
. . . Match cannot process a damn word that the man just said, so just gets in the towncar and sits stiffly on the opposite side of the backseat. Luthor returns his attention to his tablet and the chauffeur shuts the door. Match feels an odd sense of–he’d call it “panic”, almost, if he was the kind of thing that could feel anything like that.
“I suppose one of you could be ‘Alex’ and the other could be ‘Xander’, of course,” Luthor says, tone back to musing as the chauffeur gets in the driver’s seat and starts up the car. “But that also doesn’t seem like much effort, which seems a bit hypocritical of me after I was just judging your respective manufacturers’ lack of it.”
Match doesn’t know how or even if he’s supposed to respond to any of that. Some of the staff at the Agenda just talked to hear themselves talk; some of them expected him to function as a sounding board. A . . . “rubber duck”, one of the engineers had called him once, laughingly patronizing, though he hadn’t understood the apparent reference.
“I don’t have a father,” he says. Luthor spares him another dubious look.
“Oh, don’t you?” he says. “I designed your DNA myself. You’re a masterpiece, by the way, so you’re welcome for that. A perfect blend of Kryptonian and human. Sublimely arranged and maximized.”
“Biologically, that wouldn’t make you a parent,” Match says. “Superman and Paul Westfield were the only DNA donors to the initial design.”
“It’d actually make me more of one, in my opinion. But I said a perfect blend,” Luthor snorts dismissively, rolling his eyes. “Paul Westfield’s DNA was anything but ‘perfect’.”
Match . . . pauses. What does that mean? Who else’s DNA would . . . ?
Oh, Match thinks.
“The tactile telekinesis is much more effective with Luthor brainpower behind it,” Luthor informs him. “Just for the record. Westfield’s DNA wouldn’t have you capable of crushing cities or splitting atoms.”
. . . oh, Match thinks again.
“Splitting atoms?” he asks slowly.
“I told you,” Luthor says, pointing the tablet pen at him and tapping it against his chest. “You’re a masterpiece. The radiance of a thousand suns. And I am Death, destroyer of worlds.”
Match doesn’t know how he feels about being called a . . . “masterpiece”. He’s an improvement on Superboy, the Agenda’s told him, but it’s not as if Superboy’s all that impressive a baseline to start from, so . . .
So he doesn’t know. He’s still a clone either way; a copy of someone else. A copy of a copy, in fact.
And apparently, he’s also an atomic bomb.

Surprising no one who works in prisoner advocacy: the DOC panic over drugs in the mail is based on absurdly bad data, and prison officials are not interested in good data or addressing the actual sources of drugs in prison (staff) because what they really want is to punish the people in their custody

NEW YORK (AP) — In 2022, New York City’s jails commissioner, Louis Molina, issued a dire warning to local lawmakers: fentanyl was pouring into Rikers Island through the mail, he said, spurring an overdose crisis among the jail’s detainees and putting guards at risk.
As evidence of the insidious threat, Molina passed around a child’s drawing of a reindeer, one of hundreds of seized items he said had been “literally soaked in the drug and mailed to people in custody.”
But that claim was based on faulty drug-testing kits with a stunning 85% false positive rate, according to a report released Wednesday by the city’s Department of Investigation. The report found the city vastly overstated the prevalence of fentanyl sent by mail to detainees.
When investigators retested 71 pieces of mail initially flagged by field tests as containing fentanyl, only 10 actually showed traces of the drug. The drawing of a reindeer highlighted by Molina was fentanyl-free.
Field tests indicating an influx of fentanyl-laced mail to Rikers Island fueled a yearslong campaign by Mayor Eric Adams’ administration to bar people in city custody from receiving physical mail.
As a replacement, city officials proposed redirecting mail to an offsite vendor, who would then upload it digitally for the incarcerated person to read on a tablet — a practice used in other correctional systems, including New York’s state prisons. So far, the proposal has been blocked by a jail oversight board.
Jocelyn Strauber, the commissioner of the Department of Investigation, said the city should reassess its ongoing effort to bar detainees from receiving mail, given the report’s findings.
“The field tests don’t support a concern that a high rate of fentanyl-laced objects are coming in from the mail,” she told The Associated Press. “To the extent policy determinations are based on flawed data, they ought to be reconsidered.”
Detainee advocates have long contended that drugs primarily enter the jail system via employees, who can easily smuggle them inside and sell them to gang leaders. In recent years, dozens of correction officers have been charged in multiple investigations of smuggling rings on Rikers Island.
In its report, the Department of Investigation said corrections officials had failed to implement many of the department’s previous recommendations aimed at screening staff for contraband.
In an email statement, a Department of Correction spokesperson said the agency would review the report and continue refining its testing processes. “Field tests are a tool used to quickly assess potential threats, and while not perfect, they play an important role in our safety protocols,” the statement said.
Such field tests have gained popularity in recent years alongside a spike in opioid overdose deaths nationwide, allowing law enforcement officials to bypass the lengthy lab process to determine if a substance contains narcotics.
But experts have long raised questions about the strips’ effectiveness. Under federal regulations, manufacturers are required to include language on their packaging indicating that results are preliminary until confirmed by a lab — something that rarely happens in correctional settings.
Last November, New York’s state prison system was found to have wrongly punished more than 2,000 detainees due to false positives from drug tests manufactured by Sirchie Finger Print Laboratories.
For years, the test strips used on Rikers Island, the city-run jail system, were also provided by Sirchie. But after complaints about the reliability of the tests, the Department of Correction switched to kits made by DetectaChem last April.
The review by the Department of Investigation found DetectaChem’s test strips had a false positive rate of 79%, while Sirchie’s were wrong 91% of the time.
Inquiries to Sirchie were not returned.
Travis Kisner, the chief operating officer of DetectaChem, said the company was still reviewing the report, but added: “We stand behind our product.”

Deeply apart from the worlds we once knew, long after the days of Earth and her sister planets were consumed by their star, there existed a new source of light and life several, several lightyears away.
While humanity managed to survive its galaxy's inevitable end, they weren't the only species to seek refuge in other parts of the universe.
Luminasia, the mecca of peace and evolution. The planet of fluorescent lights and less than favorable air quality, ever-evolving and expanding her influence's reach, housing beings from all over, living as one in a melting pot of sorts.
"Papers! Get ya Newspapers here!!" a digitized fellow yelled repeatedly from his corner on the sidewalk. His form was fragmented, pixellating in and out of focus as he and his solid booth of merchandise swayed in the breeze.
A drizzle of rain patterned over the concrete, coating the air in a whimsical steam while pedestrians passed the floating newsstand, some too busy on their phones or in their conversations to notice. Or care. With a population well into the billions, it wasn't hard to be drowned out by the early evening buzz on the streets of the neon city, buzzing with its usual pass of traffic, foot and motor alike.
Yet the hologram continued its mantra, tossing out other lines involving hot coffee and e-cigarettes at half of the price in most stores.
A tall pale gentleman with stark white shoulder-length hair, suited in a forest green tailored suit approaches the stand. Rain pebbles over his translucent hands-free umbrella that hovered over his head to keep him dry as he and the hologram make eye contact.
"Evening sir! Can I interest you in today's paper?" the AI grins and the gentleman nods.
"Yes. One please.." the customer croons. A peculiar undertone of clicks and coos in his voice. When he blinks, two sets of eyelids flutter horizontally then vertically one bright green irises with his response.
"Oh and one coffee, " he adds, offering his wrist to the salesman for him to scan the glowing symbols etched into his skin as currency.
"Caf or decaf?" the AI perks a pixellated brow.
"Decaf, please."
Once the payment is processed and seemingly out of nowhere, a plain paper cup of coffee appears from under the salesman's left hand. In his right, a single blue capsule wrapped in plastic that fits in the nest of his palm is presented to the green-eyed customer.
He takes the pill, immediately tearing into the package and placing it on his tongue.
In an instant 10,000 words and images rush the gentleman's brain, flashes of images and speedy clips of video footage downloading in seconds as the tablet dissolves. Weather. Traffic. Celebrity gossip. Politics. All are compacted in one consumable capsule.
He blinks, shifting the colorfully distant look in his eyes as more present and the salesman gazes at him blankly with a steaming cup of coffee waiting to be taken by the customer.
Charteues eyes drop to the drink then back up to the AI's manufactured smile, nodding with gratitude before taking it. He lifted it to his lips for a sip, grimacing at the chalky bitterness coating his tongue as he swallowed. He doesn't seem overly offended by the coffee's offputting flavor however since he merely takes it with him.
"Enjoy." the robotic vendor bids the suited male adieu, promptly going back to yelling his pitch to hail in more customers.
That was life in the year 4471. Instant gratification, artificial intelligence. The coffee still sucked but much like most things carried over from the old worlds, very little was the same.
On a night like any other, the glowing streets of the neon city were alight with motion. Vehicles hovered in streams overhead while others remained traveling on the slick roads underfoot.
That was Megan's preferred method of travel, something about the feeling of the pavement beneath her tires kept her grounded. Long cotton candy blue tresses flow in the wind as the engine of her Venomx22GT growled against the damp concrete. Music blasts from her speakers, the bass vibrating through her down to the slope of her seat. Strips of black leather coiled around her luscious brown skin in some semblance of an outfit that covered only the parts of her that were necessary. Summers in Luminasia were sweltering, even after a drizzle, so why else cover up if not just for public decency purposes?
Her curves mimicked the way she leaned to swerve through traffic, unphased by the offensive swears and honks hurled her way for her careless maneuvers. She snickers at their antics, caring only about the path laid out in front of her.
*bling bling bling*
Interrupting her night-riding playlist, a call notification twitters in her ear. If it weren't for the personalized ringtone telling her who it was, she would have ignored it.
Being a professional jack of all trades Megan's line was constantly ringing. Whether it be a noblewoman in need of exclusive details regarding her husband's whereabouts on a particular night, stealing family jewels from museums and returning them to the rightful owners, or organizing entertainment for events dedicated to impoverished Lumin youth of all colors.
Not to mention her side hustle of procuring the very rare and very expensive, from places most people weren't brave enough to go...
Needless to say, our girl was a busy woman.
So calls from her partner in crime meant a few things; money on the way, or news of money to be made.
"Phor..talk to me." she takes the call, tapping her temple and unleashing a hologram strip an inch in front of her right eye. She still has a decent view of her surroundings as she weaves through traffic while her pixelated view of her four-legged, bull-dog confidante with heightened human-like intelligence, transitioned to a high-definition shot of him seated at his wall of projected screens and keyboards.
Phor pauses his constant type to push his tinted glasses up, allowing his color-blind eyes to appreciate his monitor adequately.
"Hey. I've got good news and bad news, Mama. Which first?"
Megan makes of face of careful contemplation with pouted lips.
"Mmmmmm..Gimme the good," she smirks, easing her bike to a stop at the red light.
She looks over, spotting a bright orange muscle car with its windows down blasting music beside her. The driver glances over at her, flashing a wide gold-plated grin before lowering his shades to reveal two sets of glimmering blue eyes. Both of the left two wink at her suggestively while a long yellow serpentine tongue lashes out of his mouth in a hiss.
Megan grimaces before twisting the handlebars of her bike, revving it in preparation to get as far away from the hungry-eyed creature as soon as the light changes.
Tapping away with his paws, Phor narrows his dark gaze at one of the maps on a screen to his right.
"Well...Looks like you were right about the location of one of the synstones hidden in the city. I tracked its sonic signatures to the southside of Mamba District."
Megan smiles at the news.
"I told you my dreams are never wrong." she shimmies her shoulders triumphantly while maintaining her balance on the bike.
But then the mention of the cold blooded's territory dawns on her, and Megan seethes in deepened disgust.
"Ugh! Mamba District? I said good news, Phor!" she exclaims and he chuckles, his long tongue rolling from his mouth as he panted softly.
"That IS good news. Means it's close to where you already are. I'd say 4-6 minutes if you hustle. And I'm pretty sure it's in an abandoned warehouse near the border. So it should be easy to find." he shrugs. The holo-light goes green overhead and Megan doesn't hesitate to lurch forward at a speed she was sure would leave that Lizard-faced onlooker in her dust.
Squinting against the high-speed winds in her face, Megan kisses her teeth.
"Ok, but who would hide a synstone in some raggedy-ass warehouse? Aint that just asking for someone to come take it?" she asks. Phor's consistent typing fills the line as she alters her course in pursuit of Mamba District.
"Who knows? Maybe keeping it under heavy guard would be too obvious.."
For all who have no clue what a synstone is, think of an infinity stone but less threatening. With only 6 existing in the entire universe, synstones were a hot commodity, each of them very different from the others and granting whoever possesses it extremely unique abilities.
While little is known about their true origins, knowledge of their existence has had scavengers and thieves scrambling all over the galaxy to acquire one. Whether it's for their gain or to sell to the highest bidder.
Megan's motivations leaned towards the latter.
"True, true. Alright. So what's the bad news?"
There's a thick pause after her question and Megan would have figured the call dropped if she weren't already looking through Phor's hologram and his apprehensive puppy-eyed expression.
His teeth were bared in a hesitant grimace, making Megan's worry intensify.
"What Phor?" she snaps at him and he exhales loudly.
"Ok. I tracked another signature near the stone as well. A very...familiar one."
Meg's hard scowl softens gradually when the tone of Phor's voice tells her everything he seems afraid to say.
Not afraid for her, more so for her reaction once she faced the very familiar presence they both knew would want the stone just as badly as she did.
"Fucking fabulous. Send me the coordinates." she glowers, but that doesn't stop her from hitting max speed through the glowing night streets and deeper into the neon jungle.

i think one of the biggest steps we, as a society, will be able to take towards sustainability (of, like... everything) is to eliminate the concept of manufactured obsolescence. For big stuff like houses and buildings, but also smaller stuff, especially electronics of all kinds.
And this got a bit long, but the TL;DR (too long; didn't read) is: capitalism is evil and gonna destroy the entire planet unless we abolish it as soon as possible.
There's no real reason why any kind of computer/tablet/phone/etc. can't last more than like 3 years max. It should be highly illegal for companies to push updates onto our electronics that purposely slow them down, or to stop support of "old" operating systems that aren't even 5 years old yet, in favor of getting a new phone with a new operating system for no reason other than to sell people a new phone.
Same goes for storage, kinda. I have an SD card that's about as big as a SIM card and can store 250GB of data. There's no reason why my phones internal storage is only 25GB, except to push "cloud storage" onto people for companies to secretely mine that data to push more advertising onto us. And why is it always ads, anyway? Like, at least offer me a service, but they're not doing that.
And not just phones, but literally everything. There's no reason why a fridge or an oven or an automatic feeder or ANY kind of smart device should need a wifi connection to just do the one thing it's supposed to do. None. These things worked just fine in the part when we didn't have any internet of things type bullshit, there's no reason to make these things worse except to squeeze more money out of people. (I am aware that "smart things" can be incredibly helpful for disabled people to live an independent life. However, in those cases as well, there's no reason why "no internet" should be a fatal point of failure, and there's no reason why something like a thermostat needs to have an internet connection to recieve voice commands. I mean it needs to know like... 3 or 4 words: an activating phrase, "higher", "lower", and numbers. It cannot be complicated enough to require regular updates via internet.)

Just take clothes.
So many clothes are made out of "polyesther" or "polyacryl" or something else with the word "poly-" at the start, which usually just means "plastic". And I'm sure there are some uses for plastic clothes like if someone has complicated allergies to a bunch of natural fibers, but there's no reason to have more than 80% of all clothes available on the market be either pure plastic or half plastic. 1) it's absolutely atrocious for the environment, because these clothes leech microplastics into waters like no tomorrow while only lasting like 5 years at best 2) they're just terrible quality-wise. I used to wear a plastic jacket in winter, and i would either sweat to death with it closed without even exhausting myself, or freeze like hell with it open. Neither of which are ideal. Then i got a cotton sweater to wear in winter and i didn't sweat, but i wasn't cold either. I was comfortably warm without getting sweaty, because the sweater let my skin breathe. Plastic can't do that. 3) Vegans can yell about this one all they want, but "vegan leather" is also just plastic. there's no such thing as "vegan leather", but ACTUAL leather may harm an animal (though with as much beef that's sold all over the world, there's no way there's a shortage of cow leather), but it's only gonna "harm" ONE animal. Not every single animal on earth due to byproducts of the manufacturing process and the fact that it never fucking goes away. And real leather is so durable. Like, sure, you kill one animal and get its skin for leather (but also its meat for food and everything else, i don't even know how much), if you care for the thing you made from its skin, you're set for literal generations, because it doesn't break after like 5 years. And if that thing does eventually break, you can still break it up and use the leather for new, smaller, things. And once those things break, too, to the point where the leather can't be reused, you can throw it away, knowing that it will decompose soon, instead of sticking around forever.
And I'm sure there's plenty more things, but it all ends up leading back to money and capitalism. Capitalism tells companies to get money. More money. More money. Get absolutely obscene amounts of money.
and of course the first question that regular people always ask is "but why?" But here's the thing: the "why" isn't important in capitalism. There's no reason behind the hoarding of wealth, because the hoarding of wealth is the reason.
and remember the saying "When the Last Tree Is Cut Down, the Last Fish Eaten, and the Last Stream Poisoned, You Will Realize That You Cannot Eat Money"?
Yeah, capitalism doesn't care about the fact that you're cutting down the last tree, killing the last fish, and poisoning the last stream. As long as you're making money, the damage you're doing is irrelevant. There's no cost too great for making money, as long as that cost isn't money.

Battalion- A Paranormal agent of the Department of Paranormal Activity. He is commander-in-chief of The Paratroopers and the Department’s most skilled operative. As a result of dangerous experiments conducted by the Department on siphonophores mutated by psychic energy, Battalion possesses a colonial consciousness and the ability to clone himself at will.
The Black Brigades- A militant group of urban guerrillas combatting the United Republic of Corinthia.
The Department of Paranormal Activity (DPA)- A global peacekeeping operation established by the United Nations Security Council and tasked with covertly monitoring paranormal activity across the globe.
Gadget- A young Paranormal Entity with super-cognition. He is an official member of the Paratroopers.
