Thinking about a fic idea where Casey Jr. ends up attempting to summon the Hamato spirit/ghosts of the Future Turtles but due to freak incidents keep summoning the wrong ones. By wrong I mean like, from different timelines. Different dimension. Different iteration.
Some examples:
Casey Jr. tries to summon Future Raph? He doesn't get the Future Raph from the Apocalyptic Future he came from. He gets the Future Raph that stopped the Kraang and died happily.
He tries to summon the Hamato ghost of Future Donnie? He gets a different one from an alternate universe set in a different time period.
He tries to summon Future Mikey? He gets the Mikey that died early in his 20s but still looked as old as the one he knew since this Mikey overused his powers too much too fast because his brothers weren't there at the time to stop him.
He tries to summon Future Leo? He gets the depressed version of him since his all family members died before he reached his Late 30s. Also this Future Leo is cis and straight, the horror.
Always similar but never the same.
Kinda fucked tbh.

first rule of fandom is everything goes back to destiel
second rule of fandom is everything goes back to kirk/spock
third rule of fandom is everything goes back to holmes & watson
fourth rule of fandom is everything goes back to achilles & patroclus
#plato was debating whether achilles was a top or bottom in 385 BC. the more things change the more they stay the same#< I'm not joking. there's a whole bit about it in plato's symposium#he basically argued that achilles is prettier and therefore a twink and therefore the eromenos and therefore a bottom#fandom#destiel#kirk/spock#spirk#holmes x watson#johnlock#achilles x patroclus#patrochilles#supernatural#star trek#sherlock#bbc sherlock#sherlock holmes#the iliad#the song of achilles

Reminder that Jacob Anderson apparently loves Armand and Daniel’s relationship in the books and it’s one of his favorite dynamics. So not only do you have Assad, Eric, and Luke repping it but you also have the show’s main actor going “I would like to see it.” They’re gonna be shooting DM scenes for next season and he’s going to be nodding approvingly on the background.

Crazy to think that by now, Dionysus should have transitioned from a god of ecstasy to one of social refinement and polite gatherings if it weren't for ancient Greek religion losing its prevalence.
And I mean that Dionysus, as a god who promotes madness and disinhibitions, is what's left of a time when wine was our strongest alcoholic beverage, a time of maenads and symposiums. Nowadays, we have liquor (spirits), far better for getting drunk, and beer, as the always cheaper alternative, so in a "let's get drunk moment," wine isn't picked. That way, the beverage has been left to the sophisticated: culinary connoisseurs, elegant dinner parties, wine enthusiasts, elites, and intellectuals.
And if that's our perception of wine, shouldn't that also be the dominion of its god?
#dionysus#symposium#hellenic polytheism#ancient greek mythology#ancient greek religion#ancient greece#ancient greek gods#ancient gods#dionysus could have also become the god of spirits and wine and take a dual identity#but it's far more likely that a separated diety for spirits would have been created#overanalyzing#greek mythology#I know beer is older than wine#but more now than ever is cheaper and readily available for everyone anywhere#and it has this working man label attached to it that it didn't before#before beer vs wine was more Mesopotamia vs Greece#now that cultural alliance is lost#besides beer never had a higher alcohol % than wine

the mbmbam episode where richard stink shows up to talk about spring fragrances only to slowly reveal that he's accidentally created a cult who have turned on him and imprisoned him in a freezer with daphne skrillex is one of my favourite podcast bits of all time.
#it's called the symposium on cosmic harmony btw. it's all about scent harmony and not necessarily social or word harmony.#mbmbam

In ancient Greece, dance had a significant presence in everyday life. The Greeks not only danced on many different occasions, but they also recognized several non-performative activities such as ball-playing or rhythmic physical exercise as dance. In fact, dancing to the ancient Greeks seemed like a natural response of the body, mind, and soul to music. They would dance spontaneously at weddings or drinking parties (symposia), or perform pre-arranged choreographies as exemplified by the chorus' dances in the ancient Greek theatre. Greek dances could be performed individually or in a group. They could tell a story, showcase martial and athletic skills, entertain guests, or shape processions and other key parts of religious rituals. Whilst dance is largely defined in ancient Greek literature as an element of the mousike (the umbrella term which covers all categories of the performing arts: making music, dancing, singing, and recitation), there is a wide range of evidence that suggests dancing was practiced as an independent skill. Dance-training (gymnopaidai) was a foundation subject in school, and pictures of boys and girls practicing dance under the supervision of male and female tutors appear in vase painting. Classical writers such as Plato, Lucian, and Athenaeus recommended dancing as an essential part of the development of good citizens, men and women, thanks to its constructive effects on the body and mind. As in many ancient cultures, dancing played a fundamental role in ancient Greek society for thousands of years.
