Crazy to think that by now, Dionysus should have transitioned from a god of ecstasy to one of social refinement and polite gatherings if it weren't for ancient Greek religion losing its prevalence.
And I mean that Dionysus, as a god who promotes madness and disinhibitions, is what's left of a time when wine was our strongest alcoholic beverage, a time of maenads and symposiums. Nowadays, we have liquor (spirits), far better for getting drunk, and beer, as the always cheaper alternative, so in a "let's get drunk moment," wine isn't picked. That way, the beverage has been left to the sophisticated: culinary connoisseurs, elegant dinner parties, wine enthusiasts, elites, and intellectuals.
And if that's our perception of wine, shouldn't that also be the dominion of its god?

Hot take, apparently, but genuinely harassing or insulting anyone's religion is not ok.
Criticizing religious institutions, proselytizing, extremism, or horrible behaviors/beliefs done in the name of a religion? YES! Totally. That should be criticized.
Unpromptedly popping up on random posts by religious folks to say anything along the lines of "god isn't real", "the pagan gods are fake", "there is only one true religion", "[any religious group] are stupid/dangerous/barbaric" -- NO.
It's rude. It's unnecessary. And sometimes, especially in the case of minorities or oppressed groups, it's outright hateful. Theres nothing helpful, funny, or cool about randomly insulting one of the most personal aspects of a persons life. Unless it's invited or warranted, stfu.

Going to end up with Ares, Hephaestus and Dionysus as the three main Protagonists.
Aphrodite is a strong fourth.
Really need to start researching all the other Pantheons in the world.
Wondering how to bring back Inanna/Ishtar in as the "grandmother" to Ares and Aphrodite.
Gods and Pantheon creation have become a whole thing to develop now. And if I bring in a human perspective, we now get Aliens. (I grew up watching Ancient Aliens. This is just the newest idea of tying together old gods and the new aliens.)

the reason, irrelevant
the colours, bright.
it's a hug for the merryman.
will you freeze or fight?
because the reason's irrelevant,
and the colours are deep,
just a hug for the merryman
to get them to sleep.

Panathenaic Prize Amphora with Lid, 363–362 B.C.
35 1/4 in.
The Panathenaia, a state religious festival, honored Athena, the patron goddess of Athens. Held in its expanded form every four years, the festival included athletic, musical, and other competitions. Amphorae filled with oil pressed from olives from the sacred trees of Athena were given as prizes in the Panathenaic Games. These amphorae had a special form with narrow neck and foot and a standard fashion of decoration. One side showed Athena, the goddess of war, armed and striding forth between columns, and included the inscription "from the games at Athens." The other side showed the event for which the vase was a prize.

Hekate’s Deipnon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(3rd of September- 29 Metageitniōn)
"For to this day, whenever any one of men on earth offers rich sacrifices and prays for favour according to custom, he calls upon Hekate. Great honour comes full easily to him whose prayers the goddess receives favourably, and she bestows wealth upon him; for the power surely is with her. For as many as were born of Gaia (Gaea, the Earth) and Ouranos (Uranus, Heaven) [i.e. the Titanes] amongst all these she has her due portion. The son of Kronos did her no wrong nor took anything away of all that was her portion among the former Titan gods : but she holds, as the division was at the first from the beginning, privilege both in earth, and in heaven, and in sea [...]."
-Hesiod, Theogony 404 ff (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C8th or 7th B.C.)

Sometimes i feel the urge to appreciate the divine power and beauty of nature just like the ancient people used to do.
Hear the thunder shake the air and lightning illuminate the heavens.
Contemplate the waves of the sea, an entire world under it's surface, inhabited by very different beings.
Enjoy the warm heat and the cold light of the Sun and Moon as they provide illumination for our homes.
Aopreciate the Earth, mother and father of every single being on this planet.
I just wanna appreciate this world sometimes.

'The old gods are everywhere,' she says. 'They swim in the river, and grow in the field, and sing in the woods. They are in the sunlight on the wheat, and under saplings in the spring, and in the vines that grow up the side of that stone church. They gather at the edges of the day, at dawn, and at dusk.'

Tried imitating those Ancient Greece statues.
Looks good to me, but what do you think? :D
(Btw this is my first time doing "sun lightings" so it's normal if it doesn't look really good)

Mythical Wonders
This 1928 edition of The Wonder Book of Myths and Legends was compiled by editor and writer William Byron Forbush (1868-1927). It was published in Philadelphia by the John C. Winston Company, where Forbush served as a consulting editor. The edition is adorned with illustrations by Frederick Richardson (1862-1937), an American illustrator most well-known for his vivid and imaginative illustrations in the works of L. Frank Baum.
The book is a treasure trove of enchanting stories of magic and wonder that captivated the ancient world. It explores myths and legends from various cultures, interweaving tales of gods, heroes, and fantastical creatures. The illustrations are a testament to the Art Nouveau movement. His use of striking colors and creative depictions brings the stories to life in a way that genuinely charms the reader.

29. Injured
The final one ! I love her so much.
Athena/Minerva the last goddess of this tryptic standing between Poseidon/Neptune and Artemis/Diane who were fighting, throwing pointy stuff at each other.
I love that Athena is protecting her temple. She look so pissed off. Love her posture.
