Character yapping but:

It’s just the fact that Sylvie is so insecure that he often brings up his academic achievements, is in a rush to train his epithet, and his insistence of being seen as not a kid which all implies a fragile sense of self-worth where he equates his likablility and worth as a person to what he can do.

This guy literally wears cologne just because he thinks people will like him more if he does.

Another example, in the Two-lloween special, where he so desperately and pathetically tries to appear all mature around Molly and hide his hobbies he deems as childish. Like dressing up his sheep while playing D&D.

And he acts all “better than everyone else because I freaking graduated early, haha”

BUT.

The fact that someone else could be able to do all this hard work in mere seconds and practically compete with and challenge that perception of himself as “the special and talented teen prodigy” image he built?

Hahahahahaha. Nope.

Oh yes, and the other fact where he had his epithet stolen/used before. That’s going to be a factor as well. I’ve always headcanon these two to be off at a rough start before the storm turns into calmer waters.

Shout-out to @username8746489 for giving me the idea and motivation to do this fun little comic that would dive a little into my own interpretation of Sylvie and Rick’s possible dynamic :3

Also because Jello’s post below theirs hasn’t left my thoughts in a while.

Like, I know why Sylvie and Lori interacting would be interesting since he specialises in epithet-related psychology. But what got me really interested was that Jello also mentioned a Rick + Sylvie dynamic would also have a lot to discuss about.

I wonder what and why……

(Btw, I freaking love the idea to death of them having a brotherly relationship that could parallel Molly and Gio’s-)
