And so, God help me, she is dangerous, for many true lovers sustain and will sustain themselves in their love by Hope, but will never achieve their goal. We do not know what to believe, since she does not know what will happen. Therefore it is foolish to approach too close to her, for when she constructs a good syllogism, we should be very much afraid that she will draw the negative conclusion.
The Romance of the Rose by Guillaume de Lorris and Jean de Meun (tr. Frances Horgan).

Jokes on you, I had this hyperfixation in middle school!
The last three digits of your current follower count is the Dewey Decimal Classification subject on which you must immediately give a 15-minute presentation.
How would you do?

Opposites are opposites
Tumblr media
Morning fair, and shipwreck’d hull; Nightshade with the woodbine kissing; Serpents in red roses hissing; ⎻ John Keats
So I feel fragile and stupid, doing close to nothing, waiting out, wasting time trying to see what’s next. On the other hand, if I am to drop, just for a second, the time-obsessed stubborn get-back-down-to-earth-you-piece-of-slimy-shit approach I will see that I must take the most out of life.
Snake always knows what he's signing up for, can I trust myself a little further? Shall I?
What is dragging me down? The fear of losing comfort together with the all-mighty, highly marketed lust for more. (Hello minimalism) Let’s define that as being lazy and closely focused, tunnelled in a smart modern squeaky way.
This is, basically, trying to compensate for the unbalanced parts. Rather like moieties, it is much easier to leverage a trade-off than we tend to consider:
1. Opposites, actually, are opposites and aren’t related to each other at all (the fuck they’re not, but we’ll brood on that later) For instance: - Dating is hard for me, so I go do more dating! Not bad, not a syllogism but close enough to create an illusion we all love ⎻ being right!
And then shit happens, or the fun starts …
2. Forward is the only way our actions take us (Can you folks smell what I smell? The piles of 💩 cliché) - What do I want to begin? And what do I want to continue? - Being free, has proven more difficult than just following a certain path… However, are we ever certain? Set? Determined to satisfy a need and progress further? 3. Differentiating is powerful. [Can't take the whole pie in, slice it up]
4. The game is on ‘autosave’ by default. (Which can be heavily related to the previous model of thinking.) - To love and care without much drama or suffering, after years on pause, I finally have the means of doing what I want and how I want it. Let me ask, and do you? It got away, slipped through the fingers, disappeared into thin air... Opposites aren't trade-offs! Thriving on the contrast and divide makes describing easy and functional, whereas comprehension and understanding are looming in the gloom silhouettes. 📷 Montevideo, Uruguay 2023 (love how this photo came out to be a perfect imperfection) Vibes: https://open.spotify.com/track/4wt36rVlPalOn7JxrkNp6J?si=2c9ade8dbda04cda

Philosophy
Syllogism: the assumption that if a is part true and b is part true, then C which contains qualities of a and b, is true For example, Tom is an actor, Tom is friendly, then all actors are friendly. Which ofcourse sounds illogical and untrue. However there is another example that shows that syllogism is a good way to show truth by implying. For example, john is an engineer, john is smart, then all engineers are smart.. however of course, most engineers are smart. Then the idea here shifts from being a study of truth to a study of statistics. How many of the MAAAANNY engineers are smart. Can we base a truth off of that or is it just a random occurrence. So if we can prove something that is NOT random using syllogism, then it is being used properly. For example, if we say A bullet kills a man, a man dies, then all men could get killed by a bullet, which is true from a logical point of view. From here we see that some truths can be deduced from this method while others can't.

Syllogisms
A syllogism in logic is a statement which has a major premise, a minor premise and a conclusion.
A famous syllogism is the one coined by Aristotle
All men are mortal
Socrates is a man therefore
Socrates is mortal
Here are my syllogisms
All woman have/are w(holes)
Xantippe is a woman
Xantippe is/has a w(hole)
All men are/have assholes
Simon is a man
Simon is/has a/n asshole
All women are/have cunts
Sybil is a woman
Sybil is/has a cunt
All men get turned on by images
Adam is a man and
Adam gets turned on by images

Silmarillion Syllogisms - Beren and Lúthien
- Morgoth stole the Silmarils from Fëanáro. - Stealing is wrong. - Morgoth did a wrong thing.
- Morgoth stole the Silmarils from Fëanáro. - Stealing does not make something yours by right. - The Silmarils still rightfully belong to Fëanáro.
- Beren and Lúthien stole the Silmarils from Morgoth. - The Silmarils still rightfully belong to Fëanáro. - Beren and Lúthien stole from Fëanáro.
- Beren and Lúthien stole from Fëanáro. - Stealing is wrong. - Beren and Lúthien did a wrong thing.
- The Silmarils still rightfully belong to Fëanáro. - Fëanáro is dead. - The rights to the Silmarils pass to his sons, as implied in the Oath.
- The Noldor stole Falmari ships. - The Falmari killed Noldor to defend their ships, and they are not considered kinslayers. - Killing to defend personal property is fair.
- Beren and Lúthien stole the Silmarils. - The rights to the Silmarils passed to his sons, as implied in the Oath. - Beren and Lúthien stole from the Sons of Fëanáro.
- Beren and Lúthien stole from the Sons of Fëanáro. - Killing to defend personal property is fair. - It is fair for the Sons of Fëanáro to kill to defend their property.

Ronan has a type (Adam, thereby Declan, thereby his father, thereby himself) and Adam has a type (Declan, thereby himself, thereby Ronan) and Declan has a type (judging by the way he introduced himself to the woman he later marries with "you remind me of my brother", Ronan, thereby his father, thereby himself, thereby Adam)
i just really need a freudian psychologist to get involved here
freud actually wrote them. so maybe a freudian psychologist should get a little less involved maybe that would help them out

There's one headcanon some people (including me) have and it's that Maedhros renamed Thauron.
Sources I found say that the name could be either/both Quenya and Sindarin, but if Maedhros named him, I'm guessing it was Quenya (when did the Fëanorions learn Sindarin? I don't know if Maedhros even knew it).
If Maedhros named Thauron, in Quenya, he would have used the thorn (The root word is probably saura/thaura).
Additionally, Morgoth (and by extension, possibly Thauron) hates Fëanáro, so the thorn would make the name that much more annoying. Which was probably the goal.
Anyways, what I'm trying to say is:
If Maedhros renamed Mairon
And if Maedhros named him in Fëanorian Quenya
Then the name would properly be pronounced Thauron, not Sauron.
