So many plotpoints I just don't understand in this arc. Why have bkg die? Why have him fight afo? Why have izuku lose his arms? What purpose has any of it served???? At all???????

Todorki and ochakos fights were handled so well and streamlined and benefited their characters and arcs but bkgs and dekus have been a mess all bcus hori is a coward who won't just let them fight together bcus ig save to win and win to save meant nothing at all

Why have bkg die?

I think it's pretty clear from the way that whole thing was framed that the purpose of Katsuki dying was symbolic. This is a staple of Japanese drama running all the way back to kabuki. It is a trope for a main character to die to shed their mortal incarnation and come back to life as their deified form. Katsuki's death runs perfectly parallel to Tomura's from the PLW arc right down to the part where they are both responsible for their own resurrections. It's probably one of the best cases I can think of where a character's death actually did further that same character's arc without fridging them for the sake of someone else.

Why have [Katsuki] fight AFO?

Because AFO was set up as a "what if" scenario or cautionary tale for Katsuki, the other side to his "villains and heroes are two sides of the same coin" storyline. AFO in his physical form has a different character arc and story utility from AFO the quirk vestige. He provided a lot of backstory that allows us to infer the subtlety of how Katsuki is likely some sort of reincarnation of Kudou, the mechanics of which we will never need to revisit because they're unimportant. It was about karma and personal growth. It was about showcasing how Katsuki is an heir to many legacies, All Might's included.

Why have Izuku lose his arms?

Again, it's symbolic. It's been foreshadowed pretty heavily that Izuku would risk losing his arms in reaching out to save someone. This was a demonstration of his willingness to take on that risk. It also provides a moment for Eri to get in on the "everyone contributes a little bit to the fight" action all the other characters have been allowed to have. We don't even know yet what state Izuku will actually be in when this is all over, so it'd be premature to jump to any major conclusions about all of this. The story may still have a lot to say about this.

Like TB is infectious but can only be caught if you spend a lot of time with the person infected with it. So in Norton's case if Benny had it, then Norton would too, sense it seems like Norton only really spent time with Benny and a lot of time at that, enough to catch a thing like TB. orz Gee thanks Benny....

But the thought of bonding with the Da Capo/(except Orpheus pff) group through shared trauma after escaping, and and just constantly having each other's backs. Even though its a lot of getting Norton out of trouble cause he keeps going back to gambling when drunk and causing problems in towns they go to.

And then the time would come when Norton ends up in a hospital and just "looks like this is my last stop..." and unable to follow the group in their efforts to run and stay safe from anything manor related that is following them.

OH and then after hearing they left town he just gets out of bed and drinks as much booze as he can and causes one last big scene that prompts those who have been following them to go after Norton only for him to blowup one more mine.

i ABSOLUTELY can talk about this! i am 1000% always willing to talk about my OCs, eden especially.

so the deal with eden is essentially that he really really wants life to be worth living. he wants to be a person, he wants to have all the things normal people have. safety, friends, family, a lover, pets, whatever. all the stuff that makes it worth waking up in the morning. however, with the threat of the Farm and him being a regene, it feels impossible.

so he's resolved to do the villain thing to... make it possible. by force. taking his revenge on the Farm and removing them as a threat, and also hopefully getting rid of his tattoos, are actions he feels are necessary in order to get to a state where he can have a Normal Life™, hence the life motivation.

the trick there is that right now, he's pretty miserable. everything he has feels very fragile and like he could lose it at any moment, both because of his own actions (i.e. lying) or because of factors outside of his control (i.e. the Farm tracking him down). things like mortum being angry at him because of his own unforced fuck ups shakes his faith that it will even be possible for him to have all the things he wants one day, and since he's not going back to the Farm, giving up on his goals only really has one possible outcome, hence him being a suitag step in my heart.

HELLO!! okay, i think that they loved (and despised) each other in equal measure, though the actual difference that should be considered with them is more about who showed it more between the two of them than whether or not they had the same amount of love for each other, and for that it's also important to consider that how much someone shows the love doesn't automatically imply that one loved the former more than the latter.

so if we consider the question as a "who was more willing to show that love" then i would argue that it was actually uhtred who did that more, but that's completely because he was more open to it compared to alfred who had wayyyy more to lose and wayyyy more issues with loving a man than uhtred ever did (for example, uhtred's openness with aethelstan's homosexuality in seven kings must die).

NOW, my brain is pretty dead so i don't know how to explain it any better, but i think i talked more about all of this in detail on this previous post!! xx
