AO3 has been scraped, once again.
As of the time of this post, AO3 has been scraped by yet another shady individual looking to make a quick buck off the backs of hardworking hobby writers. This Reddit post here has all the details and the most current information. In short, if your fic URL ends in a number between 1 and 63,200,000 (inclusive), AND is not archive locked, your fic has been scraped and added to this database.
I have been trying to hold off on archive locking my fics for as long as possible, and I've managed to get by unscathed up to now. Unfortunately, my luck has run out and I am archive locking all of my current and future stories. I'm sorry to my lovelies who read and comment without an account; I love you all. But I have to do what is best for me and my work. Thank you for your understanding.

Indigo is closing a beloved Chapters bookstore in Scarborough in a move that has employees and regulars alike accusing them of union busting. The Chapters at Kennedy Commons is not only the largest bookstore in Scarborough and one of the best Indigo locations in the city, it's one of three unionized Chapters locations in Toronto. According to Indigo (which owns Chapters), the decision to shutter the business was merely a fiscal one. In a statement to CBC Toronto, they suggested that the location's profitability wasn't up to par. But employees of the location, as well as some locals, aren't buying it. For some, the company's decision to close this specific location doesn't add up, leading to accusations of union busting from the store's employees and supporters.

if you live in the US and are still buying books off of amazon i am judging you forever. amazon is hard to boycott but for books you have like 100 other options. most indie bookstores ship nationwide and you can just order from their website even if you don't live nearby. just go to indiebound, pick a store, and order directly from their website. if you're in the US using audible or fucking spotify for audiobooks you're a fucking weenie, too. you can get that shit for FREE from libby or hoopla with your library card (which if yours sucks or you can't get one you can often get out of state ones pretty easily), but if you want to own it you can just buy a la carte or get a subscription from libro fm and choose a local bookstore to support. i mean damn worst case scenario you can order a lot of used and new books from better world books with free fucking shipping (and this ships to almost ANY COUNTRY)

so if any of y'all have ever purchased e-books from Amazon, then you should log in to your Amazon account, and under your Content Library, download all your e-books to your computer and transfer them to your kindle reader via USB, or send them directly to your preferred device (if you have more than one connected to your Amazon account) via wifi by clicking "Deliver or Remove from this device" and switching the device you want to send it to
Once you've downloaded all your purchased e-books, not ones that are borrowed from Kindle Unlimited or Prime Reading, download the free Calibre e-book management software and this DRM removal plugin to remove the DRM (digital rights management) from your e-books, which converts your kindle e-books into the universal e-book format EPUB or whatever other ebook format you'd like, bc the Kindle ebook format AZW and AZW3, can only be used on Kindle readers, but by removing the DRM, they can then be used on any device that reads the EPUB format
BUT why should you do all this? bc on Feb. 26, 2025 (one week from now as of the time I posted this) Amazon will no longer provide this download option bc they're aware that people have been downloading their e-books from their kindle libraries and using software like Calibre to convert those e-books into EPUBs and not have to be tied down to Amazon's ecosystem, which makes them lose money (boohoo), and also the switch towards cloud-based storage
Basically, any e-books you have purchased from Amazon are not yours to own, you're essentially being licensed the e-book, so they can use this loophole to alter or completely remove those e-books from the website at their whim, and you would no longer have access to those e-books, even though you legally purchased them, which is wild bc we should be able to legally own, forever, any digital media we buy and do what we want with it, and this is something that has been happening with other forms of digital media like movies and video games, where you "buy" a digital copy but you don't actually own it
You should also stop buying e-books from amazon from now on since you don't even own them, and cancel your Kindle Unlimited subscription if you have one, and you might as well download any audiobooks you've purchased on Audible (which is also owned by Amazon)
[watch this video and this video for more thorough explanations about this issue and this video for a tutorial on how to use Calibre and the DRM ]
Alternatives to kindle readers include: Kobo (has integration with Libby) and Nook (from Barnes & Noble), or sell or donate the one you have if you don't want to use it anymore
Alternatives to amazon e-books: Libby (free app that links to your local library if you have an active library card where you can borrow ebooks and other digital media), Internet Archive, Project Gutenburg, 🏴☠️ ebooks and PDFs, and research whether your favorite author has books available to purchase directly on their website
....and you can always purchase or borrow physical books and other media as well! support your local libraries and indie bookstores!
TL,DR: this is a matter of media ownership, censorship, and archiving, so download your Amazon e-books NOW before Amazon takes away your ability to access the items that you legally purchased and locks you down to using their devices and ecosystem
FEBRUARY 26 IS THE LAST DAY TO DOWNLOAD YOUR AMAZON EBOOKS
#amazon#kindle#ebooks#books#media ownership#idk what else to tag this but hopefully it can be seen by some people#if you would like to share this please do so bc this is time sensitive#just another reason to say FUCK YOU to amazon

on one hand i am a very big believer that reading written theory does not inherently define politics and that you can engage with most ideas without ever once touching a theory book directly and be just fine
HOWEVER - the number of people in general (not even just in transfeminist spaces) who think they can just write up their own theory without engaging with any other queer / feminist history or queer / feminist theory outside of their own bothers me so much
like, even re: people not understanding radical feminism and it's roots -- it's not just that radical feminism was born out of man hating, it was born out of genocidal rhetoric towards men. valerie solanas and ti-grace atkinson are the names to look up for anyone interested in the militaristic and genocidal roots of radical feminism that have never once gone away in the almost 70 years since the ideology's conception.
and you don't even need to be a scholar to look these things up!! you don't need to be an academic to learn history or to understand the basic principles of a political ideology. you literally just need a sense of curiosity and a search engine. hell - over half the time you just need wikipedia. then you could, if you really wanted to, support a local bookstore or used book website or your local library to read about the subject in your free time if you really felt compelled to. but again! books are not a requirement! if you're on tumblr the whole internet is at your fingertips!!
there are just so many routes to take the time to learn and be a metaphorical student, even just briefly, before you start acting like an authoritative teacher. the entitlement that comes with just thinking you can say anything about a subject and expect to be carried by your identity rather than the merit of your knowledge of a relatively accessible area of study bothers me to no end.
(also just for clarity none of those "you"s are directed at you velvet! they're the general "you")
The problem is that they read and don't internalize any of it. They just recycle all the big words they learned. Actually understanding the history of radical feminist thought is anathema to them because it'd pretty quickly make them realize no, for real, radfems don't think you're a woman, and also hate trans men. Being moderately educated on radical feminism would make their house of cards instantly collapse.

something wonderfully important has happened! my "wrestling dad" josh shepard got his book of wrestling erasure poems published & it is up for sale (either 10$ or "name a fair price"). this is incredibly important to me as im one of the first people to have gotten the privilege to read these poems as josh wrote them. josh is incredibly important to me as a friend, he is the guy who introduced me to wrestling & gave me a deep, unrestricted passion for it.
josh is so fucking talented, & creative. he is also my favorite poet, not just bc he's my friend. the book's flow is dedicated to the flow of a wrestling match, following all the hallmarks (the lock up, big heat, the comeback, ect) with the themes of his poems to create a match like narrative for the book.
there are like three specific poems in the batch that i want tattooed on me, a stone cold one, a mick foley one, & a briscoe brother's piece. the aj lee pipebomb poem moved me to actual tears, even when i read it now. the macho man poem abt being bipolar struck me so hard i rethought my own feeling on my mental health. josh pushes impressive themes of capitalism, mental health, poverty, & family theoughout many of his poems. i know ive got a few wrestling fans here, & if you're also into poetry please considered josh's work. or just if you want to support a friend of mine.
a cool way to support josh's work is by requesting it at your local library! even suggesting to bookstores that have poetry sections or interacting with the work thats already published. following/reposting josh's work for exposure also is great.
bruiser zine said this:
The second volume in the BRUISER Zines series, Cutting Promos is a collection of pro wrestling erasure poems by the Oklahoma City poet Josh Shepard. Printed and assembled in Baltimore, this limited edition zine collects 26 poems previously published in BRUISER, HAD, The Daily Drunk and many other fine publications.
After being laid off at the onset of the pandemic, Shepard found comfort and inspiration in the glow of professional wrestling and its performers—their violent struggles, fighting spirit, and electric language—and from their speeches and promos that have inspired wrestling fans across the globe he delivers Cutting Promos, a collection of erasures that echoes the personalities, pursuits and perseverance of pro wrestling’s greatest, standing as a testament to life lived during Hard Times and deliverance through them.
[ IN CASE YOU MISSED THE LINK ABOVE TO BUY JOSH'S BOOK ] [ JOSH'S TWITTER | INSTA | LINKTR.EE* ] *a lot of the links don't work bc the publications went under :( but there's still quiet a few up for free here
support my kayfabe father!!! i watched him turn his hard times into beautiful pieces. even in the beginning when he only had 3 or 4, before he even thought he could make the book i saw his passion for these pieces. i was there for every heart wrenching rejection letter & every hard earned spot. every time he was working late at the library sending me new ideas bc he couldn't watch dynamite. every single wrestling poem josh has written has now been published & that is a huge success. he puts in the work like a wrestler puts in the work in the ring. hard hitting, gritty, & beautiful.
#hope i got all the info and claims right in here lmao#ny memory aint so good#and hes been working on thus for FOUR YEARS#god im so proud of him#please please please reblog this#poetry#poems#poet#wrestling#pro wrestling#aew#wwe#poetry book#book#abt ranger#im also rb the fuxk out this#twice a day

Hello, I have an ask with the obey me dateables, and Luke (platonic) if you write for him ofc, with a fem! Mc who reads ALOT and constantly talks about them, I'm talking about shelves upon shelves of books that have been read.
Have a amazing day and remember to talk care of yourself!

But sorry, I don't write for Luke.
╚═══════════════•⊰•°༄༚

Diavolo always listens intently to MC talking about books with his chin resting in his hand and a smile on his face.
"You have a gift for finding the most interesting stories," he'd say, his eyes gleaming with warmth and affection.
"And the way you weave them into our conversations is nothing short of magical. I could listen to you talk about books for hours on end and never grow tired of it."
He'd lean in a bit closer, his hand nearly brushing yours. "Please, continue. I'm all ears."
As the conversation continued, Diavolo's interest deepened. He would ask thoughtful questions about the characters, their motivations, and even the symbolism behind certain scenes.
His laughter would ring out whenever you made a witty comment, and he would sometimes share his own insights about the books you were discussing.
He would even occasionally recommend some of his favorites for you to read, each recommendation accompanied by a warm smile and a subtle touch on your shoulder.
You could almost feel the warmth of his presence, wrapping around you like a cozy blanket.

Barbatos would listen intently as MC enthusiastically discusses their books, showing genuine interest in the stories, themes, and characters.
Barbatos would admire MC's passion for reading, finding their excitement contagious.
He would use his knowledge of the past and future to offer additional insights or historical context to the stories MC shares, sparking further discussion and appreciation for the books.
Barbatos could find creative ways to incorporate moments from books into special surprises or gifts for MC.
Barbatos would regularly surprise MC with a new book that aligns with their preferences, demonstrating his understanding of their reading tastes.
Barbatos might even playfully challenge MC to engage in intellectual debates about books, fostering an atmosphere of intellectual stimulation.
Barbatos would create a cozy reading nook filled with plush pillows and cozy blankets for MC to enjoy their books, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing environment for their bookworm moments.

Simeon would listen carefully and patiently as MC passionately discusses their beloved books, finding joy in their enthusiasm and the depth of their insights.
He would actively engage in conversations about literature, sharing his own thoughts and recommendations, creating a mutual exchange of ideas and perspectives on the world of books.
Simeon would be happy to accompany MC at the local library or bookstore, exploring new titles and discussing their favorite characters and plots.
He might even surprise MC with a thoughtful gift of a rare or special book she has been longing for.
Simeon might even surprise MC with a personalized bookmark or a handcrafted journal to jot down their reading notes and reflections.
During quiet evenings at home, they would curl up together to read aloud, taking turns in different voices while enjoying the simplicity of shared stories.
Simeon could encourage MC to write their own book, serving as their trusted confidante and supporter throughout the creative process. He'd offer insightful feedback, helping them shape their story into something truly special.

Solomon would be thrilled to engage in deep conversations with them. He would love to hear about their thoughts on the stories and characters, and would share his own insights on them. They would discuss themes, symbolism and even have debates on different interpretations. It would be wonderful to have someone who shares the same passion for the written word and he would love to hear their opinions on the books they had read. would also be very interested in discussing the author's writing style and background, as well as the historical or cultural context in which the books were written. They can geek out together and talk for hours on end about the stories, characters and worlds that they have come to know and love.

If the GoM + KagaKuro + Momoi had YouTube channels
I saw a headcannon post like this a few days ago and thought I'd take my own crack at what I think the YouTube channels of the main cast of KNB would look like if they had them. Hope you enjoy!
[KUROKO]
Mainly on the book side of YouTube.
He likes to do book reviews and book recommendation videos and keep people updated on what he's been reading recently.
He also does this thing where he opens up a Google Form every once in a while and takes suggestions from his subscribers on what to read and then he'll pick a few suggestions at random and give his thoughts in a video.
Sometimes he does vlogs where he hits up his favorite bookstores and encourages people to visit them (he mainly supports local bookstores and also is a big library advocate and often urges his viewers to support their local libraries, too).
On occasion, he uses YouTube shorts or the community tab to post pics and short vids about Nigou like taking him for a walk or dressing him in cute outfits (Nigou is Kuroko's pfp on his channel).
Kuroko also never shows his face in any of his videos and his viewers always get so curious about what he looks like, but when they ask for a face reveal, he never budges.
Because no one can see his face, they focus a lot on his voice and Kuroko has been told by many people that his voice is calming and he could definitely dip his foot into ASMR. He compromises by posting the occasional video of him reading excerpts from his favorite books.
[KAGAMI]
Very much a "ball is life" type of guy. He posts clips of his basketball game highlights from school tournaments. Also posts clips of him playing streetball with his team members from Seirin and sometimes other GoM members if Kuroko invites him to come play.
He posts travel logs, too. It could be something like him heading to LA to visit or to get some basketball training in with Alex. OR he could do "day in the life" vlogs in Japan where he just shows people how he's living. He posts them very sporadically, there's no schedule for any of his vlogs.
I feel like he could also do those "What it's like to live in ____" videos where he tells people about his experiences living in the US and Japan and gives people travel tips he's picked up along the way.
I bet he has YouTube shorts where he films what he eats in a day, and because of the sheer volume of food he consumes, his subscribers always think he's bullshitting because who tf eats that much in 24 hours?
He also does YouTube shorts where he cooks simple dishes. He always gives people an ingredients list so they can try the recipes, too.
He probably has both a domestic and international viewer base because he's bilingual (and I saw a headcanon someone had that Alex taught both Himuro and Kagami some Spanish so maybe he's even trilingual). When talking directly to viewers, he switches between languages a lot.
I bet he does livestreams too every once in a while when he's alone on a basketball court at night and wants some company, so he just props his phone up and comes back to it every so often to read the live chat.
[KISE]
Oh, he's a beauty guru through and through. I know he's got makeup tutorials on his channel. He also does viral makeup challenges (or maybe he creates his own challenges and they go viral on their own).
He also posts a lot of GRWM videos. Sometimes he gets ready for modeling work, and other times he gets ready for school or a basketball game.
Also, he deffo gets sponsorships from cosmetic brands all the time like maybe foundation or face wash. He just has so much social media presence that brands are all lining up to ask Kise to use their products.
I can see him doing vlogs, too. Usually when he's out doing modeling work. He likes to show his subscribers behind-the-scenes stuff about modeling and how the industry works.
He 100% does clothing hauls, too. He likes to pick clothing brands he thinks deserve more love so that his subscribers start shopping there and the brands get more business.
He does livestreams where he does Q&A with his subscribers and talks more about himself there. They're a fan-favorite because subscribers get to see him more laidback and comfy.
I can also see him trying to do simple dance challenges for YouTube shorts as well. He usually tries to drag his Kaijo teammates or even the other GoM into it. Some are more receptive than others, to put it lightly...
[MIDORIMA]
He's a weirdo (said endearingly) on YouTube. He makes content for all the boys and girlies interested in obscure niche topics.
I'm sure a good chunk of what he posts is related to horoscopes and compatibility stuff.
He also does livestreams where he does fortune-telling for his subscribers, usually summoning the power of whatever his lucky item is that day.
I would also like to think he does videos picking apart popular conspiracy theories and then going to war with said conspiracy theorists in the comments.
But then another part of his channel is almost like "study with me" type videos where he shows the process of completing homework or getting ready for an important test/exam.
A lot of people under his comments for those videos ask him for study tips and he freely gives out advice.
There are also people under his comments who talk about how stressed school makes them and he's actually very encouraging and supportive to them in his own way. He's big on motivating his subscribers to try their hardest and not to get too down on themselves if their results aren't as good as they expected. Because of this, his subscribers love to update him on their academic progress, both the good and the bad, and Midorima reads every single one of their comments.
[AOMINE]
Probably the most sporadic poster of them all. Nobody ever knows when this boy will post and he gives no heads up either. YouTube community tab is for losers. You'll see his videos when you see them.
Most of the time he uploads videos they're usually super short, maybe no more than 2 minutes long. And the content of these videos could honestly be about anything.
Sometimes they're clips of gameplay from a video game and other times, it's just him filming random stuff that captures his eye.
He doesn't edit or nothin, he just rawdogs the YouTube experience and posts his videos as they are from his phone.
In a way, you could call some of the videos vlogs, but they're just so short and borderline cryptic that his subscribers don't see them as anything other than shitposts. And that's precisely why Aomine has amassed a sort of cult following.
The non-shitpost short videos are ones where he films himself catching bugs in the summer. Those are actually super cute and wholesome because he likes to share factoids about the bugs he caught.
The only times he does longer videos is if he posts clips from streetball matches he has with the other GoM + KagaKuro. They're usually titled something like "Kicked Kagami's ass in b-ball today". Any and all dislikes on videos like that are solely from Kagami and all the burner accounts he uses to dislike Aomine's videos.
[MURASAKIBARA]
I think his most popular segment would be snack/sweet reviews. Especially when there are new limited edition flavors of something. Sometimes snack brands like to send him mystery boxes for him to open up on camera.
He also likes to talk about what he eats when he travels to new places, giving tips on places to eat in foreign countries that you may not find on an initial search online.
His subscribers treat his word like the holy bible and a lot of them will not trust a snack unless Murasakibara has said it's good. He's like the Keith Lee of snack YouTube. Very wholesome but also holds a lot of authority.
I think he would totally do mukbangs, too. He noticed his subscribers love it the most when he eats crunchy stuff, so a lot of his videos around that are him eating chips or his maiubo sticks. It's basically ASMR, at this point.
While he does mukbangs, he likes to rant talk about his day to his subscribers. They find it very endearing when he gets invested in telling stories.
I remember Fujimaki once saying Murasakibara's alternate future job would be a baker/patissier, so I think Murasakibara would also have content where he's just baking. He likes to take suggestions on what he bakes from subscribers. His taste testers are his Yosen teammates or the GoM if he happens to be down in Tokyo/Kyoto for whatever reason.
The only non-food content he has on his channel is his livestreams, where he plays video games. He either plays cozy farming sims or horror games. There is no in-between.
[AKASHI]
A total equestrian boy. A good chunk of his channel is riding sessions he has with his horse, Yukimaru. He answers questions about horses from his subscribers in the comments all the time. Sometimes you will see him under the comments of other good horse YouTube channels gushing about how beautiful those YouTubers' horses are and how well their owners take care of them. He asks them about certain riding gear he sees them use, too, so he can buy it for himself.
Another chunk of his channel is music-related. He likes to upload videos playing his favorite pieces on both the piano and the violin. He takes song requests from his subscribers, too. Once in a blue moon, he'll even post a piece he composed himself. One time, he posted a video of himself playing the violin for Yukimaru, and his subscribers thought it was the most precious thing ever.
He also posts videos of himself playing shogi, either by himself or whoever he has convinced into playing shogi with him. It's usually Midorima, and he always loses.
Speaking of Midorima, Akashi noticed his "study with me" videos and wanted to try doing it, too. This eventually led to once-a-month livestreams where Akashi studies by himself in his room. This led to his subscribers nicknaming him "Lofi Girl". He did not understand the reference.
He posts basketball stuff on there, too. Usually, stuff he's taken from his own team's practices as he observes them from the sidelines.
He also sometimes posts YouTube shorts of the Uncrowned Kings when he's hanging out with them. They're always candids of them engrossed in a conversation, or when they're goofing off, and during those times, when Akashi feels compelled, he'll sneakily record them and post it later, almost like an archive of memories to look back on and smile.
He's also pretty passionate about mental health and sometimes talks about it on his channel, encouraging people to normalize conversation around it. He gives updates on his own mental health journey (yes, I have a headcannon that he starts going to therapy after the Winter Cup) and his subscribers are always so supportive of him for being open and honest about it. His transparency in turn inspires his subscribers to take their own mental health more seriously and they give Akashi updates of their own. He always loves hearing their progress and always tells them to hang in there.
[MOMOI]
She loves a lil vlog here and there. She loves showing people what she does on a day-to-day basis. Her editing style is also super adorable.
She also likes to livestream to just talk to her subscribers about anything, really. A lot of times, it ends up being about romance, though.
Her content has a slight overlap with Kise in which she also does GRWM videos. Usually for school or to go into town. Sometimes this bleeds into her doing videos where she puts outfits together for specific situations and gives fashion/makeup advice to subscribers.
She does hauls, too, but it's all bath salts and bath bombs. She has an extensive collection of candles, too, and she loves to tell her subscribers when she gets new stuff.
She's probably also done a room tour, too, I bet. I like to think her bedroom has that gamer-girl vibe. Just all cute shit but at the same time she gets down to business you do not play around with data analyst Momoi.
I would say she also includes the other miracles the most out of everyone. Kise is usually the most willing participant in her videos. They probably team up for makeup challenge videos. Somehow they rope Aomine into them to be their test subject, may God bless his soul.
She also likes to take videos of the GoM when they have get-togethers. Her subscribers get a kick out of seeing their antics and they constantly tell her she has amazing friends. Momoi agrees.
Anyway, that was it from me. I don't think I've ever done a KNB headcanon post like this before, so I just wanted to try. I hope you guys liked it! ✨✨✨

Update: How to Support the Mangaka
Welcome new fans!
If you saw the anime and then found us through scanlations, we're glad you're here. Raise Wa Tanin Ga Ii/Yakuza Fiancé is a really fantastic manga and we enjoyed working on it.
The manga is still on hiatus. We don't know when or if it will return.

The mangaka has cleared all mentions of the anime from their Twitter and we are concerned that we might have contributed to their distress by picking up new material when we did, after it was licensed, and scanlating it.
We understand that licensed translations aren't available in all languages and is not carried by all retailers. The best way to address that is to use whatever resources we have to ask for access as often as we need to so we get it.
We urge you to please do your best to support the mangaka by buying physical or digital licensed translations.
-> Not available in your language? Reach out to publishers in your country and ask them to pick it up.
Publishers have social media accounts on Twitter and other social media platforms. Look up their webpages or accounts and reach out to them. Don't wait for surveys and for them to ask you what you want, ask.
Start with this list of manga publishers on Wikipedia.
-> Not available for sale at your local bookstore or chain? Reach out to retailers and ask them to stock it.
Google bookstores in your area, look for customer service contact information on your local Amazon instance and set up an alert.
-> You can also get manga physicals and digitals through libraries. Library copies contribute to a an author's sales numbers, reading scanlations does not. If your local library doesn't have volumes, ask them to get it.
-> You can buy your own chapters on Bookwalker and use a translation app such as Papago on your own.
-> Currently simulpubs are available on the K_Manga app. If you can't access it, reach out to Kodansha and let them know. If they don't know you want something, they can't give it to you.
Don't assume all mangaka are okay with scanlations: Konishi had Kodansha go after TikTokers who used clips of Koji Yusa from the Shouma CV, so clearly they feel strongly about using copyrighted material without permission.
We know collecting manga is an expensive hobby, and the animanga industry is notorious for overworking and underpaying artists, but if we really appreciate the work they do we need to respect artists by being willing to compensate them for their time and energy.
Please let us know if you'd like a template for how to ask for what you want. And if you're able to buy you can refer to our pinned post for resources. If you don't see retailers or sites you use frequently, let us know so we can update our info.
Thanks for reading!

considering buying copies of some of my favorite audiobooks so that I can just plain own them*, but i find myself strangely reluctant to stop living in the library app... the wait times just make it more special to me
*you can still buy audiobooks and just plain own them! libro.fm sells digital files of audiobooks and supports local independent bookstores with a portion of the proceeds, similar to bookshop.org. you can buy individual books a la carte or get a monthly subscription, but even with the subscription option, the books you buy are yours, and they don't stop being yours even if you unsubscribe. everything libro sells is DRM-free so you can listen to it on a wide range of devices and they can't take access away at any point. did i mention they support independent bookstores
#but who would i even be if i ever had less than one hold on a Scott Brick Philip Marlowe audiobook in Libby...#audible#audible alternative#libro fm#this is not a sponsored post btw i just love audiobooks and hate *m*z*n

Hey y'all!
A local bookstore is in need! Eleanor's is a queer, feminist bookstore that connects local organizers to the community, and they're loosing their lease this month. If you're able, any contribution would be so helpful and appreciated. You'd be supporting a space that:
Provides a stocked, free food fridge to the community
Provides free PPE
Provides a Free People's school where local activists host educational talks to the public on harm reduction, abolition, radical imagination, decolonization, reproductive freedom, and community organizing
Provides a third space for folks to gather without the pressure of making a purchase
Provides local artists with a venue to perform and sell their art
Provides various radical left bookclubs without the expectation of purchasing books, essays, materials
Connects mutual aid organizers locally and across the country and assists individuals in need of/seeking mutual aid
Sells both radical nonfiction literature but also fiction books from queer, feminist, leftist authors. And zines! Locally made and otherwise!
And plenty more! Eleanor's is an on the ground organizing space for my city and the collective that owns it has done so much more for my area than I could ever explain in one post.
Eleanor's is a space needed now as much as ever, so if you're able to assist, please do!

Shoutout to the Friends of the Library, a type of bookstore attached to almost every public library in USAmerica!

Yesterday I found thse 16 DVDs and 15 books and booklets for $2. Not per item, for everything you see here.
31 items for $2 total, including a physical copy of The Sims 3.
I used to be shy about taking books off the free shelf or taking advantage of sales like "8 discs for a dollar" but the volunteers have reiterated to me a thousand times that they need more shelf space for donations and it really helps them for you to grab as much as your little arms can carry.
If you want to own the books you read and still support your local libraries, this is the absolute best way I know to do it, and your shelves will be so, so full.
#libraries#support your local library#friends of the library#books & libraries#free books#from ellie#dont judge my book and dvd choices please i just love stuff that's nostalgic or from a religion im not in or potential scrapbooking material#it fuels me

Just wondering: Where did you read any of the GOTG/Rocket comics? I've looked for a while and can't find a reliable site to read them for the life of me xD
hey babe! this is a great, fair question.
honestly, as an artist and as someone with an ever-decreasing trust re: companies honoring digital licenses, i like print media for my favorite comics. i have most of the modern rocket, rocket & groot, and groot arcs in print.
i care much less about most gotg comics at large lol, so i have been more creative in my consumption of them. some ideas below (and maybe others will see this and add their own!) ♡ i am US-based so these may or may not be options in your location.
i was very lucky in 2023-2024. my partner had a free one-year subscription to marvel unlimited, so i consumed a vast amount of gotg comic content then. i don't love a lot of gotg comics (i'm a cretin, i know; a lot of the human characters are boring to me) so i read a lot at that time when it was free lol. things may have changed but marvel unlimited at the time was not a super-intuitive app (it might have been better from a web browser?), and there is a three-month lag from the comics hitting the shelves to be available in-app, but i didn't care about that too much at the time since i was mostly reading older stuff. marvel unlimited is $10/month i think. it looks like there is currently a free trial period you can access with a Disney+ account (not sure how long that lasts), and a code for 50% off for two months.
comixology through amazon is $6/month i think, and there's a 30-day free trial. if you're interested in going that route, i'd recommend lining up all the stuff you want to read in a list before you even sign up, and then consuming as much as you can before you cancel. you read through the kindle app, and some comics are available through kindle unlimited, too. if you've got money to spend and you enjoy electronic copies, you can also straight-up buy most of the comics through kindle. i haven't done a comparison on e-price vs print-price, so you'd probably want to double-check that.
finally, we also have a used bookstore near by with a decent tradebacks section, and we usually stop in about once a month. there was a pretty decent hardback version of rocket raccoon 1: a chasing tale (2014, skottie young) there two weeks ago, and it's actually where i got my copy of groot (2015, loveness & kesinger) about a year ago. i think i got it for like a quarter of the new-print price, and it was in really good condition. all the pages were nice and there was a little grime on the hardcover that i was able to get off (carefully) with some dish soap and a damp cloth. i've also gotten a couple gotg arcs there for cheap.
of course, all this relies on having at least some expendable income (unless you're gonna just truck through your whole library on that 30-day trial from comixology, which i fully support). i have not looked into this recently BUT if you have access to a local library, a lot of times they do have tradebacks/comics and will get what you want with an interlibrary loan if they don’t have it on hand. in most places you can coordinate the whole thing entirely online (even accessing the media digitally, sometimes).
beyond that, there really isn't (to my knowledge) a good way to access the comics for free, which i have complex feelings about.
i hope one of these options works for you nonnie, or that there are better options available and you can find them quickly! best of luck, and happy comics-hunting, my friend. ♡♡ may you find exactly what you need.
