IS IT SO HARD…

Is it so difficult to support your family and friends in the things that they love.

As a starting small business (photographer) I’d love for the chance to shoot any friends or family that I have that need shoots done, yet :

I offer free sessions and get ignored

I send out inquiries to shoot big events at very cheap discounted prices and get ignore

I get told “I’ll defiantly reach out when we are ready” and then they post sessions done by other people

I support other people’s business and dreams and then get shoved aside for mine

It’s ridiculous that people are like this. When your family and friends have a small business they are trying to start just be supportive even if it’s just by sharing their work or posts. Let them use you as a model for their business it costs nothing and you get free gifts about of it!

It’s heart breaking that I feel like no one is there for me and no one supports me the way I support them. Is discouraging and disappointing and makes me want to quit but I won’t because I do this for me and my love for capturing memories. The struggle is just part of the hustle I guess… but don’t be surprised if the offers stop and I disappear from your life. ✌🏼

Little Joan needs surgery!!!

Joan Al-Habil is has been repeatedly hospitalized due to severe gastrointestinal problems and overwhelming fatigue. This poor girl has been to multiple facilities and seen multiple doctors, undergone extensive testing (as extensive as is possible in Gaza’s collapsed medical system), even having to endure an unsedated endoscopy, which I know from personal experience is extremely uncomfortable.

She has now been diagnosed with severe gastritis due to starvation and hazardous living conditions. Remember, she and her family are living on the streets, which are cold and wet due to winter rain. Homelessness, stress, exposure to the elements, her previous injury when the IOF firebombed her tent, and malnutrition all conspire to sap little Joan of her strength.

Her condition is so serious that she now requires surgery. Gastritis very rarely requires surgery to treat, so this is an indication of how dire her situation is. In addition to surgery, she is going to need treatment to manage her symptoms.

The cost of this is very very high. One consultation alone cost $650 USD. Joan’s family is going to need your support to pay for her treatment.

Please, this little girl is in so much pain and misery. Her parents are watching her waste away as her condition worsens daily.

Abed @mohmad2 is raising funds to support his family after they were displaced from Gaza City to Deir Al-Balah.

His two previous campaigns, which raised over €5000, were terminated by GFM with no prior warning or explanation. This was catastrophic, as he requires these funds to feed and supply his young family. He and his wife have 2 children, a toddler and a newborn, and they are struggling to feed and provide them with medical care.

thinking about jeremy hitting rock bottom his freshman year, losing so much in one disastrous night, the repercussions of which would continue to haunt him for years. thinking about jeremy spiralling so bad cody said they “really thought we were going to lose him for a while there.” cat saying the right therapist can be “life changing”, using jeremy as an example. thinking about how bad jeremy’s crash out must have been, understandably; thinking about his family continuing to blame him for noah’s death—from the coldness of annalise, to the outright antagonism of bryson, to joshua ignoring him for years. the wilshires doing everything in their power to cover up what happened at the banquet rather than lending an ounce of support to a boy who had lost his brother in terrible circumstances, because jeremy was there, because it was so much easier to blame him for all of it. coldblooded, if you ask me. jeremy needed help, not damage control.

thinking about jeremy having probably the worst year of his life, having the opposite of emotional support from his family, and still somehow coming out of it a better person. thinking of all the work he put in to be better and succeeding—i’d rather die than ever be that person again. believe me. despite the hostility of his family system, despite being blamed for the fallout, despite the guilt and heartbreak that “nearly destroyed him”. still jeremy managed to build a new life for himself out of the wreckage, going so far as to be captain of the trojans, with a team who respect and admire him. still he managed to come out of it with such a capacity for kindness and goodness and lifting the people around him up.

thinking about jeremy continuing to be the human embodiment of sunshine despite living in such a cold home that was never forgiving or warm to him. jeremy knox, you will always be loved by me.
