Anyone know a good issue by issue reading for post-Crisis Superman comics, specifically the period after Byrne left but before the Triangle era started? Really wish there were big omnibus collections of this era. If only DC wasn't so sluggish with the omnis, we'd probably have everything from The Exile to Death and Return collected by now.

hc that Kryptonian names are kind of like true names so even though Clark grew up never hearing Kal-El until he was an adult, the second someone uses it on him he twitches and instinctively leans in a little. over time, the response gets easier to ignore, but there’s still times when Bruce (or someone else?) uses it and it just kind of. snaps his attention back over to them, Clark falling away from Kal as instinct fires at the back of his mind, hey that’s my name, why are you using it?

something I think is interesting is Superman ahs reason to be distrustful of Talia in lexcorp era, because she is so good at pretending to be a loyal Lexcorp employee who carries out Lex's plans for him in his absence. Like Superman: Man of Steel #120 shows from his perspective, she's the one in charge of stealing another country's oil that has been infected with lexcorp bio-engineered fungus, and possibly distributing it.

Likewise, Talia has reason to dislike Superman, because he accidentally ruins her plan. She had primed a guy to go to the press and reveal what Lexcorp was doing, to de-legitimize Lexcorp in the public's eye and bring them under scrutiny, and from her POV the guy went to superman* who just wound up stopping the operation but destroying all the evidence that would bring Lexcorp under fire.

*he actually went to Clark Kent, but Clark was feeling insecure in his journalistic abilities due to other plot stuff and wanted to win for sure against Lex, so he solved it as superman
