What is Dammit Hedgi Day?

Dammit Hedgi Day, the 25th of September, marks the 9th anniversary of the first "Dammit Hedgi" tag on one of my angst fics. Every September I accept [angsty, typically] prompts for three weeks, and then post a massive amount of oneshots and ficlets. Prompt fills range from 200-2000 words, and as the Poll dictates, will start being posted on September 25th

What Fandoms can be prompted for?

Dammit Hedgi Day started with the Flash and DCTV, but has grown! Previous years have seen ficlets for: The Flash (up to mid season 6? I make no promises after that) Supergirl (season 1) Legends of tomorrow (first 2 seasons) Stargirl (all three seasons) Leverage+ Leverage Redemption Blue Beetle (2023) Into the Spiderverse (ish) My Adventures With Superman Young Justice Big Hero 6 Avatar the Last Airbender The Librarians Books of Bayern and assorted original RPG character content That said, I'm not strictly limited to these! I've started watching Stargate SG1, and will accept prompts based on that UP TO MID SEASON 4. Do NOT ask me about things beyond the end of s4, I'm trying to be unspoiled. If you've seen me talk positively about a media, you can ask for it, essentially. I may not fill everything, but I'll try.

What kinds of prompts?

Originally an ANGST fest, it can get a bit more broad especially in recent years. Ideally: send me a fandom/ two characters and a line of dialog like one from a promptlist below OR fandom/ characters and a vague concept-- "Sokka in a time loop" is vague! "Leverage, Daemon au for the Big Bang job" is vague. "Stargirl, Rick and Cindy: "I'm never going to trust you" " is vague. Two full paragraphs that detail who says the line and everyone's feelings on the matter and the outcome is not vague. If you're not sure if something is too detailed, you can always send it in and see, though. Crossovers welcome. DHD is a smut-free zone, and it’s my day so  I will write about characters with my viewpoints so prompt with caution if you like a character I do not :)  You may attempt to rig your prompts for fluff but do not count on it. Do not expect shipping, this is a genfic event. A few ships may slip through at my discretion, y'all know who I Like. You can send me a couple characters and an angst prompt from a list like  this one or This one,  Or this ….or  if there’s a whump post out there that grabs at you, you can use that. If we've talked about an AU, you can prompt that! If I've made a post like " hey neat concept for [show]:...." you can ask for some of that! If there was a prompt from past years you liked and want More Of? (roundups for 2020 , 2021, 2022, 2023) hell yeah! Canon suffering!! Aus make everything worse!! I think a lot about how my experience of watching Supergirl is different from those who saw the show as it was airing.

I blazed through the entire show in a few weeks, and knew in advance that Kara and Lena had a big fallout. And going through at that pace... the Rift made itself central in my mind in many ways. (If you read my fics, you've probably noticed 🤣.)

Then I got encouragement to write my Archaeologist AU, and I thought... why not. I started writing.

But my brain started frizzing out. I was so embedded in the Rift that I had a hard time imagining a Lena before her various betrayals (Andrea, Rhea, Eve, Kara, etc). What does Lena look like when she's trusting and optimistic? She's still cynical, but she's hopeful too...

So I paused on that to write my Lena character study. In part because I had these notes about her time at MIT that seemed fun, but it was also critically necessary to finishing the archaeology AU. Because Lena wasn't always the hurt and closed-off person that she became in season 5. (That fic didn't get a lot of attention, and I didn't expect it to - but it really helped me internalize a softer Lena.)

And now it feels full circle in a way, in that I'm writing a real AU (unlike the archaeology one, my Aviation AU has a human Kara). The character study and the other AU were sort of a bridge.

I think a lot of people got to spend more time with the more trusting, optimistic Lena of season 2 than I did. I'm guessing that Lena's villain era wasn't even the expectation when people watched the ups and downs of the pre-Rift in season 3 and 4.

It's just interesting to think about, how I'm circling back to an earlier Lena, when I think it's the Lena that most of the fandom internalized for a very long time.

I had an idea for a SuperCorp arranged marriage AU where to resolve the Luthers vs Supers feud Supergirl and Lena Luther are made to get married. (The plot twist is that Kara and Lena already secretly knew each other and fell in love and realized this was the only way their families would allow them to be together.) I was having fun thinking about it, but then I hit a snag: taxes.

If Lena is technically (and very publicly) married to Supergirl, and not Kara Danvers, how do they file their taxes without revealing Kara's identity? Kara Danvers has a W-2 and a SSN, but Lena has to file with Supergirl, who doesn't want to be revealed to be Kara Danvers.

I know this is fanfic and I could probably ignore this question (and I'm probably never going to write it anyway) but my brain wull not let me continue until I have a satisfactory answer to this question.

I know technically Kara reveals her identity by the end of the show making the problem a moot one, but this is more season 2 timeline.

Yes, I do usually respond, though not always right away. I enjoy chatting about my fics, so don’t hesitate to ask questions, but I don’t give out spoilers though.  

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

When She’s Gone, the Darkness Comes – Oof. It was so sad I had to write a second chapter. I much prefer happy endings (teen)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

All of them have a happy ending of some kind, or they will once they’re completed. Though there are some with happy endings like Speak Now and Tis the Damn Season. Smut. I’m talking about smut (explicit)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Yeah, though I’ve been mostly lucky. I don’t know why people leave hate on any fics really. If you don’t like something, close the tab.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes. It started as a small scene here or there when it was a natural progression of the fic, but now I occasionally right full smut fics and pwp like those found here (explicit)

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Kind of, but the characters are all from within the Arrowverse/ DC Comics universes somewhere.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of. I don't understand why someone would do this. Please respect writers.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I’m currently working on one with @thatonebirdwrites, though it's not published. It’s a Supercorp fic where Kara is a building inspector and when she goes to inspect Lena’s home, she meets Lena’s daughter to tells her the floor is lava, so naturally Kara has to ensure that issue gets resolved.  

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

Supercorp. But I do love most wlw ships

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I intent to finish all of my active WIPs. I have some WIP ideas that may or may not ever get going, but once I start a fic, I intend to finish it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I have no idea… I guess easter egg type stuff or like blending canon into storylines. If your a reader and there's something you think is a strength I have, let me know.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Actually writing. Words be hard. And it's hard to find the time.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I do it sometimes, probably not well. I like to include the translation in the fic (unless the characters themselves aren’t supposed to understand until later). But I'm sure the translations aren't fully right as I only use google translate and the Kryptonian dictionary.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Supercorp. I started writing fiction in Dec 2020. Before that it was all scientific research papers for uni.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

I suppose What Has Been Lost (Mature). It was what started this crazy adventure, has been the most challenging piece, and my longest (still ongoing). It truly blends lore and characters from across the Arrowverse and DC Comics into a human world and original storyline.

top 3 favorite characters: The legendary Lena Luthor, my king from the future Querl Dox, and uhhh I'm actually not sure who's third? Could be Red Daughter, could be James, could be Nia. Could even be Eve who fascinates me despite being underwritten. IDK. Depends on my mood. ...And actually if we count him as a Supergirl character and not as a walking backdoor pilot then it might just be Clark. I do like Clarky boy.

top 3 least favorite characters: Mon-El obviously, Ben Lockwood who Manchester Black should've gotten to strangle with his bare hands, and...there are several other annoying misogynists I could list here but I'm actually going to give this spot to Overgirl because it's still so baffling to me that none of the higher-ups thought, 'hey, maybe we shouldn't make a crossover where AU versions of Supergirl and Green Arrow are actual literal Nazis.'

top 3 notps: Kara/Mon-El is a no-brainer, Kara/William was a flop, and I can't believe it even needs to be said but. Kara/Alex. No.

top 3 brotps: Lena & Brainy my beloved <333 And I like Lena & Sam's friendship as well. Honestly a lot of the relationships in this show are great in theory but a little thin in actual execution, but I enjoy reading fanfics where Lena is good friends with Kelly, Nia, and/or iconic queen Jess the secretary. [I wish I could give a brotp for Kara but honestly I think most of her relationships suffer greatly from how they write her character.]

top 3 favorite episodes/chapters/scenes/games in series: My favorite is definitely 4.16 "The House of L." Bonus points for epic title also, like, that's an iconic pun right there. I look fondly on 4.11 "Blood Memory" as well which I think is probably Nia's strongest outing on the show and also is an episode that actually bothers to do something interesting with the Danvers sisters relationship. And in terms of episodes that are consistently entertaining I do really enjoy a significant chunk of 5.13 "It's a Super Life" although it's tainted by the terrible ending (as well as the foreknowledge of what comes after). [You might be thinking: what about XYZ Season 2 episode? To which I sadly must respond: Mon-El.]

top 3 other things u think ppl who like this thing should watch/read/play: I'm going to refrain from recommending other Arrowverse shows because I think that's too easy. But I do think my recommendations would depend on what you liked or didn't like about the show? If you like light-hearted superhero shenanigans you should watch DC Super Hero Girls (2019-2021). If you were frustrated by the show's surface-level pop feminism then you should watch Revolutionary Girl Utena (1997). If Lena Luthor's character type fascinates you then you should watch Severance (2022-ongoing). [If you're in it for Katie McGrath I can't help you, that woman was cursed by a witch long ago to only be in the worst shows you've ever heard of.]

A promotional tour, meetings with new club managers, the promise of a new hour down the line. Why wouldn’t I need you right there with me?” Ava’s head bobs up and down, her gaze bouncing between Deborah’s fingertips and her lips. “I could have promised you the prettiest little collar, a leash made of diamond tennis bracelets. See if it were Earth 2 that would make sense, it’s the closest one ( also I think that would make for an interesting AU because he would be completely alone on Earth 2, no Cisco and no Harry. And if Zoom could sense him (like he was able to sense Cisco’s breach) then he would basically be on the run literally the whole time (my whump gremlin brain wants to keep going with whumpy ideas but I’ll stop for now) ). But Earth 38. No.

So since he seemed to be able to travel to any of the 52 Earths (in theory)— you know what my gremlin brain thought?

fall inside the rabbit hole again

A rare non-Supergirl fanfiction that I've done, this one is actually focused on Batwoman, and I was going to say that it was one of my first, but it wasn't even close. That aside, though, I really liked writing Alice, specifically in a situation after season 1 with her reacting to what happened to Kate- albeit in advance of season 2 itself when that situation became clear.

This one is definitely a first, this one has to do with The Boys, specifically about my girl Queen Maeve and set right around the beginning of season 1 when Starlight joins the Seven. I still really enjoy this show and think these characters are very interesting, so I hope to write for them again at some point!

the darkest hour (of the darkest night)

This is one I forgot to put on the last list, but one that I love anyway and that got a lot of positive feedback. It's an AU of the Supergirl season 5 finale that I truly wish would have happened, as devastating and heartbreaking as this concept would have been with Brainy being kidnapped and probably brainwashed/aligned by his mother.

El MAYarah Fest Prompt Fill Collection

so this is a collection of fanfics from @mistyautumn's El MAYarahfest, which we did in April 2020, and it features mostly Supergirl fics but there are some others in there, and a variety of AUs and character interactions. I still really like all of the fics I did here, and I was happy to complete this challenge with Autumn.

just going to say this here, I brought Kenny Li back in fanfic form post-Crisis over a year before Supergirl actually did it during season 6. Very proud of that, even though how the show did it was different from how I did. Anyway, I still think he should have come back in the present day in addition to the past, and if he had, this is how I would've liked to see that.

Mein Injustice-Verse:

Als ich mich dazu entschlossen hatte diese Fic mitte 2021 zu schreiben war das vor allem deswegen, weil es offiziell hieß, dass es auch in der 2021/22-Season kein Crossover Event für das Arrowverse geben würde (wegen den Covid-Regulierungen) und ich beschlossen hatte in diesem Fall einfach selbst eines zu schreiben. Noch während ich an der Fic gearbeitet habe, wurde das Line Up vom "Armageddon"-Special Event für die 8. Staffel von "The Flash" bekannt gegeben, also gab es dann im Canon doch noch ein Crossover, doch man muss schon sagen, dass "Armageddon" gerade mal in Episode 4 gehalten hat, was das Event versprochen hat, insofern hatte ich Recht und es gab wegen Covid und allem, was danach passiert ist, nie wieder ein wahres Crossover im Arrowverse. Insofern ist "Injustice" nach wie vor ein Ersatz, wenn man so will.

Ich hatte immer geplant eines Tages vielleicht eine "Injustice"-Arrowverse-Version zu schreiben, aber immer auch gedacht, dass Marc Guggenheim und Co. das vielleicht ebenfalls geplant hatten. Nachdem aber klar wurde, dass es nie passieren würde - zumindest nicht so groß wie erhofft - habe ich diese Fic geschrieben.

Sie sollte zumindest am Anfang und am Ende sehr wohl im damals aktuellen Canon spielen. Das Hauptproblem damit ist, dass damals zur Zeiten der 1. Staffel von "Superman & Lois" diese Serie sehr wohl auf Earth Prime gespielt hat, deswegen ist die Serie auch in dieser Fic Teil von Earth Prime und das Leben von Clark und Lois wurde entsprechend umgeschrieben, sie haben nun zwei Teenager-Söhne, Martha ist gestorben, sie wohnen in Smallville etc. Da die Serie nun nie auf Earth Prime gespielt hat, ist dadurch der Canon-Status dieser Fic fragwürdig. Und auch ansonsten gibt es Probleme, weil die Prämisse auf die geschnittene Szene bzw. die Aussagen von Eric Wallace nach Season 7 von "The Flash" aufbaut, in denen Iris immer noch zeitkrank ist. In der Serie selbst hat sie sich durch ihre Taten während "Armageddon" erst wieder krank gemacht, was ihr aber erst viel später in der Staffel (und Zeitlinie) aufgefallen ist. Alles andere passt aber zum Nach Staffel-7-Status nicht zum Staffel-8-Status. Die Änderungen in den letzten drei Folgen der 6. Staffel von "Legends of Tomorrow" und der 1. Staffel von "Superman & Lois" hingegen waren Absicht und gehören zur Injustice-Zeitlinie, genau wie, dass die 6. Staffel von "Supergirl" gegen Mitte anders weitergeht als im Canon, letztere war ja damals noch nicht fertig ausgestrahlt, also musste ich mir selbst überlegen wie es weiter geht.

Nun, egal, alles was nach dem Ende von Staffel 7 von "The Flash" passiert ist, gehört sowieso zur Injustice-Zeitlinie.

Da man auf Earth Prime zum damaligen Zeitpunkt noch nicht wusste, dass es das Multiversum noch gibt, ist "Injustice" eine Zeitreise-Fic, in der Barry fünf Jahre in der Zukunft landet, auf Earth Prime nimmt er an, doch ist das überhaupt der Fall?

"Injustice" ist die erste meiner größeren Fics, in denen nur Canon-Pairings vorkommen (später im Nope-Universum war das ebenfalls wieder der Fall), was ungewöhnlich ist (normalerweise gibt es zumindest immer ein wenig impliziertes Westhallen oder Atomwave nebenbei), es gibt gerade mal ein paar Hinweise auf Kanvers, aber ansonsten halten wir uns brav an den Canon. Aber es gibt genug aufregende Dinge, die nicht zum Canon gehören: Leute sterben, manche werden für tot gehalten tauchten aber wieder lebendig auf, manche Charaktere werden böse oder sind fehlgeleitet unterwegs.

Da ich zum damaligen Zeitpunkt Season 2 von "Batwoman" noch nicht gesehen hatte und auch nicht vorhatte jemals anzusehen, ist Kate zurück und wieder Batwoman, sie nimmt Batmans Rolle aus dem OG "Injustice" ein (bzw. teilt sich diese Rolle mit John Henry Irons, wenn man es genau nimmt). Season 2 ist zwar passiert, aber Ryan wurde Opfer eines Tsunamis der Gotham erwischt hat, was nur kurz erwähnt wird, sie spielt für diese Fic praktisch keine Rolle. Sophie, Rene, Curtis, Caitlin und Chester sind übrigens auch Off Screen gestorben, die meisten anderen kommen - von einer plotrelevanten Ausnahme abgesehen - aber doch eher graphisch ums Leben.

Ich habe eine etwas zwiespältige Beziehung zu dieser Fic. Sie ist das erste und einzige Mal, dass ich wegen eines Flames einen geplanten Handlungsstrang vollkommen verworfen hatte (der Flame hat mir vorgeworfen über ein getaggtes Pairing zu lügen, weil eine Person tot ist, aber erstens war diese Person nicht tot, zweitens ist Clois der erste Tag zu dieser Fic und Lois stirbt wirklich quasi gleich am Anfang, was keiner berkittelt hat, und drittens hatte ich eigentlich für dieses Pairing eine Wiedervereinigung geplant und wollte ihnen ein besseres Ende als im Canon geben, doch durch den Flame ist mir die Lust vergangen). Als ich diese Fic geschrieben habe, war ich neu auf AO3 und habe ich kürzester Zeit mehr schlechte Erfahrungen dort gemacht als irgendwo sonst nach so kurzer Zeit (und zwar nicht mal solche wie ich erwartet hätte, sondern total seltsame!) und hätte die Plattform beinahe wieder verlassen, weil es so schlimm war. Und ja, wegen eines Tags, der erstens wahr ist und zweitens mein Kaffee ist, geflamed zu werden und dann erklärt zu bekommen, dass das erlaubt ist, weil jeder jeden Autor mindestens einmal ungestraft beleidigen darf, hat mich schon an dem Sinn auf der Plattform zu sein zweifeln lassen, besonders kombiniert mit der lesbischen Bi-Phobia anderer User, die mich in unterschiedlichen Fandoms deutlich spüren haben lassen, dass eine Frau, die Frauen und Männer mag, auf jeden Fall mit einer Frau enden muss, und wehe es ist nicht so bzw. wehe du schreibst das über diese Frauen in einer Form, in der die armen Lesben es sehen müssen, denn das tut ja ihren Save Space invasieren, igitt! Die wollen keine f/f und f/m Tags für die gleiche weibliche Person in ihren Fics, obwohl wie gesagt es mein Kaffee sein sollte wie ich tagge! Wie gesagt ich zweifle bis heute daran, ob es richtig war auf dieser Plattform zu bleiben.

"Injustice" an sich ist aber ganz gut geworden, denke ich. Manchmal vielleicht etwas unfokusiert und der eine oder andere Charakter ist verloren gegangen, aber das ist vielleicht nur realistisch, wenn man in einer alternativen Zukunft mit so vielen Charakteren hantiert.

Und ja, in dieser Fic habe ich Barry Kristen Kramer besiegen und niederschlagen lassen, weil ich sie damals gehasst habe und mir das einfach ein Bedürfnis war.

Kara doesn’t get rid of her glasses because that little plot point, like over 90% of the finale, was complete and utter bullshit. So I’m excising it.

Kara and Mon El give a televised statement to National City as Supergirl and Valor via CatCo saying that they won’t be around for a while but the city’s in good hands either the revamped DEO. The final shot of the series would be them and their seven month old twin sons flying to Argo in J’onn’s ship to visit Kara’s birth parents for a year. Giving Kara Zor El closure like they should’ve done in the first fucking place.

15. Supergirl Season 2 (22 Folgen, 2016-2017, Streambar: Netflix, DVD/BR)

Durch den Wechseln zum The CW zu einem Mini-Reboot gezwungen flog „Supergirl“ mit Staffel 2 zu neuen storytechnischen Höhen, in denen Romantik, Superhelden und Sozialkritik gekonnt zu einem Gericht vermischt wurde, das man nicht so schnell wieder vergisst.

14. Agent Carter Season 1 (8 Folgen, 2015, Streambar: Disney+, DVD/BR)

Genau genommen keine Superhelden-Serien, sondern eine Spionage-Serie, aber trotzdem ein wichtiges Standbein des MCUs. Damals vor den Disney+-Zeiten lief die Serie, in der Peggy Carter sich selbst und ihren Wert findet, noch auf ABC. Es folgte eine die Geister scheidende zweite Staffel, doch Staffel 1 war die, mit der wahren Kraft in sich.

13. Arrow Season 2 (23 Folgen, 2013-2014, keine Flatrate, zu kaufen auf Amazon, DVD/BR)

Die besten Staffel der Ur-Arrowverse/CW-Verse/Berlanti-Verse-Serie ist die zweite, in der Flashback und Gegenwarts-Handlung am besten miteinander funktionieren, und  die der bis dahin eher lauwarmen Serie ermöglicht durch neue spannende Wendungen den Zuseher ein Stockholm-Syndrom zu verpassen, den Grundstein für das Arrowverse als solches legt, und Rache und Vergebung zum bestimmenden Thema macht.

12. Young Justice Season 1 (26 Folgen, 2010-2012, Streambar: Netflix)

„Young Justice“ war ein Phänomen für sich. Ähnlich wie „Earth’s Mightiest Heroes“ für Marvel, war das die perfekte Einsteigerserie für DC, die es nie leicht hatte, aber so beliebt war, dass sie nach Jahren wieder belebt wurde und noch jetzt im Limbo der „vielleicht überleben wir den Reboot doch“-Projekte schwebt. Im Laufe der Zeit wurde die Serie leider zunehmend verwirrend, weil einfach zu viele Charaktere in ihr herumzugeistern begannen, doch die erste Staffel zeigt deutlich warum es so viele Leute gibt, die diesen Serie heiß lieben und warum diese der beste DC-Cartoon des 21. Jahrhunderts ist.

11. Peacemaker Season 1 (8 Folgen, 2022, Streambar: RTL+, DVD/BR)

Dieser Spin-Off von James Gunns „Suicide Squad“ wird nicht nach jedermanns Geschmack sein, vollbringt aber das Kunststück aus einem alles andere als sympatischen Charakter einen tragischen Anti-Helden zu machen, und war vielleicht das Beste, was das zum Untergang verdammte DCEU jemals hervor gebracht hat.

10. The Defenders (8 Folgen, 2017, Streambar: Disney+)

Schon vor „Infinity War“ crossoverte das MCU schön und im großen Stil. In dieser Mini-Serie treffen die Handlungsstränge und Figuren der zuvor erschienenen Netflix MCU-Serien aufeinander. Wem die Arrowverse Crossover Events immer zu wenig waren, der kann hier eine ganze (wenn auch nur kurze) Staffel lang Interaktionen seiner Lieblingshelden miterleben.

9. She-Hulk: Attorny at Law Season 1 (9 Folgen, 2022, Streambar: Disney+)

Wieder einmal keine Superhelden-Serie im eigentlichen Sinn, hält „She-Hulk: Attorny of Law“ Phase 4 des MCUs zusammen, während sie eigentlich vor allem eine Anwalt-Dramedy-Serie sein will, stattdessen aber eine Meta-Comicverfilmungs-Serie ist, weswegen es eines der wenigen Male ist, dass ein Marvel Held tatsächlich so verfilmt wurde wie er oder sie gehört. Deadpool sieht blass gegen dieses Meisterstück aus.

8. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 (17 Folgen, 2016-2017, Streambar: Prime Video, DVD/BR)

Die zweite Staffel der besten Arrowverse-Serie ist die zuseherfreundlichste, da die Serie zwar schon begonnen hat die Meta-Superhelden-auf-Zeitreisen-die-Tropes-zwischen-Crossovern-erleben-Serie zu sein, die sie eine Staffel später werden würde, aber zugleich noch genug herkömmliche Superhelden-Serie war um auch weniger gewiefte Zuseher bei der Stange zu halten. Außerdem funktioniert der routierende Cast in dieser Staffel am Besten, und den Legends steht die wunderbare aus diversen Arrowverse-Serien zusammengesetzte League of Doom als Gegner gegenüber.

7. Daredevil Season 3 (13 Folgen, 2018, Streambar: Disney+)

Die dritte Staffel von „Daredevil“ war die beste der Netflix-Serie, weil sie zu den wenigen Momenten gehört, in denen das MCU sich tatsächlich aus seiner Comic-Vorlage bedient hat anstatt diese vollkommen neu zu erfinden. Zugleich funktioniert sie auch als ein Ende, auch wenn es nächstes Jahr endlich weiter gehen dürfte.

6. X-Men ’97 Season 1 (10 Folgen, 2024, Streambar: Disney+)

Dieses Jahr erschien endlich die Fortsetzung der X-Men-Animations-Serie der 90er, und sie hat wahrlich nicht enttäuscht. Besser als irgendein Live Action-Film zeigen diese 10 Folgen worum es bei den X-Men eigentlich geht und warum sie die besten und wichtigsten Superhelden weit und breit sind. Zwar baut die Serie auf den fünf Staffeln der Original-Serie auf und setzt diese fort, da aber genug Leute, die das Original nicht kannten, diese Serie trotzdem angesehen haben und sich ausgekannt haben, ist sie wohl auch für Neueinsteiger geeignet.

5. Heroes Season 1 (23 Folgen, 2006-2007, keine Flatrate, zu kaufen auf Amazon, DVD/BR)

Man muss erst krabblen, bevor man gehen kann. All die Superhelden-Serien der letzten fünfzehn Jahre verdanken wir dieser Nicht-Verfilmung der Naughties, in der Menschen überall auf der Welt nach einer Sonnenfinsternis ihre Superkräfte entdecken und sich zusammenschließen müssen um die Welt (und die Cheerleaderin) zu retten. Ein Opfer seines eigenen Erfolges und der Fans, hörten die Showrunner nach Staffel 1 auf alle anderen, nur nicht auf ihre eigenen Instinkte, weswegen „Heroes“ im Laufe der Zeit immer mehr nachließ, bevor es heimlich still und leise eingestellt wurde, und von einer eher mauen Nachfolgeserie endgültig in den Untergang gerissen wurde (es soll aber ein neuer Spin-Off kommen). Staffel 1 war aber eine der ersten richtig guten Superhelden-Serien des 21. Jahrhunderts, ohne die keine andere Staffel auf dieser Liste je existieren könnte.

4. Jessica Jones Season 1 (13 Folgen, 2015, Streambar: Disney+, DVD/BR)

Mehr Psycho-Thriller als Superhelden-Serie war die erste Staffel von „Jessica Jones“ so gut, dass die Serie nie wieder an ihren eigenen Erfolg anschließen konnte. Melissa Rosenberg schöpfte hier aus Bendis‘ berüchtigter Killgrave-Saga aus seinen „Alias“-Comics aus den Vollem und heraus kam eine Serie über gebrochene Frauen, besessene Stalker, und die andere Seite des Superheldentums.

3. The Flash Season 1 (23 Folgen, 2014-2015, Streambar: Prime Video, DVD/BR)

Das Beste, was das Arrowverse je hervorbrachte, war die erste Staffel von „The Flash“. Die Blaupause dafür wie eine Superhelden-Serie sein muss, damit sie Leute anspricht, die zuvor nichts mit dem Thema anfangen konnten, findet sich hier. Ein Must-Watch für alle.

2. WandaVision (9 Folgen, 2021, Streambar: Disney+, BR)

Wieder einmal alles andere als eine Superhelden-Serie war die erste Disney+-MCU-Serie eine Meta-Serie über das Fernsehen, die mehr als nur eine Überraschung zu bieten hatte und dieses Jahr einen Spin-Off werfen wird. Nicht für jedermann, aber für jedermann, der gutes Fernsehen mag und kennt.

1. Stargirl Season 1 (13 Folgen, 2020, keine Flatrate, zu kaufen auf Amazon)

Geoff Johns Herzensprojekt war die Verfilmung seiner eigenen Schöpfung Courtney Whitmore, und „Stargirl“ ist in seiner ersten Staffel alles, was eine Superhelden-Serie sein kann, und noch mehr. Die Teile passen hier so gut zusammen, dass es fast schon zum Fürchten ist wie hier subtil Dinge hinterfragt werden, über die man im Superhelden-Genre bisher nie nachgedacht hat. Stellt euch auf gebrochene Herzen, Familienthematiken und eine Injustice Society ein, die so heißt, weil sie Ungerechtigkeit bekämpfen will, nur eben leider mit den falschen Mitteln.

My Human/Original AU Series is an amalgamation of original story work with various locations, character names, character descriptions, and/ or conversations, pulled, used, and/ or referenced from throughout all of the CW Arrowverse and DC Comics Universe, though primarily Supergirl. It’s not really crazy, but it is intricately woven throughout the storyline.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, my I Believe in a Thing Called Love into Spanish.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Not yet, but I’m not opposed.

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Supercorp... There are others (Avatrice, Caitvi, lots of wlw really), but nothing compares to the hold they still have on me.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I plan on finishing all of my actual WIPs that have writing associated with them. There are a couple of WIP ideas I have that I’m not sure I’ll ever get to… A Christmas fic, one loosely based on the movie D.A.R.Y.L., a couple with other main relationships

16. What are your writing strengths?

No idea… Someone once told me they love the way I sometimes write a singular scene from different POVs, telling the story in pieces to eventually for the whole… Not sure that’s a strength. I guess plotting out the story details then?

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

English is the only language I really know, so in the past when I’ve needed to write in a different language (I’ve done Spanish and Icelandic), I used Google translator- which I now know is kind of bad at what it’s supposed to do. I need to ask a native speaker to check on the Spanish I’ve done, but I don’t know any Icelanders. For Kryptonian, I use the Doyle dictionary but I don’t know if I do the grammar/ syntax right or not.

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

Oh, this one’s hard… Um, I like a couple of my fics for very different reasons, but I guess the Human/Original AU Series is the one that’s taken the most effort and I’m most proud of… It also started as my first, so you can see how I’ve grown as a writer as it continues which is fun/interesting/embarrassing for me lol
