Wow thank you the advice it made a lot of sense !! really helpful in giving something to work with in the sea of endless resources that is the internet,, i am indeed curious about the specific ways you stylize anatomy or really any other things (i find your explanations to be very insightful and would be delighted to see more of what you have to say :D) and get some rest !!

AWESOME ok you didn’t specify so i picked my favorite thing to draw. legs!! admittedly biased towards muscular legs because i’m a cyclist and well. i’m my own free reference material. also i just like them. not sure how to describe how i go about them though? so i drew a few out for u. the top blue shape is the quadriceps kinda fused together— the more muscular someone is, the thicker the bottom section of it is, if that makes sense? also. most people have a decent amount of fat on their upper thighs. bottom blue shape is more like the bone and some of the outside structure

yandere! shenhe who is elated as cloud retainer brings you to her abode so that you may spend time to her. shenhe wants to make sure you stay with her.. for as long as you both shall live. she sees no need to ask you to be her lover, as the way she marks you is enough to lay her claim on your body. your neck and your collarbones are marred by her teeth, beautiful purple hues on your skin yandere! shenhe who kidnaps you on a dark night. after all.. you are hers.

i love your drawings so much<333 your art is so perfect like the anatomy looks so beautiful!!!! how did you learn to draw that anatomically correct? like do you use a lot of references or do you just know how to draw bodies atp? bc im struggling with anatomy lmaoo

Wahhhhh!!! 🥹 Thank you so much!!! I'm holding this praise very close to my heart right now!!!! I've spent a lot of time over the years doing studies and having images of muscle group diagrams open while drawing, so I'm super happy to hear it paid off!

So I don't really use references anymore when I start drawing and composing the pose, but I absolutely still reference diagrams of muscle groups when I find myself hesitating with the way certain parts of the body may appear. Something like this, for example:

Something that gives me an exaggerated idea of what that part of the body looks like so I can soften it to my liking. My main goal when using reference isn't to do a 1:1 replica, but rather understand What I'm Drawing while I'm drawing it. At this point of my art journey, I'd prefer having more practise in manipulating these muscles than just practising drawing what I can see.

(Worth mentioning I absolutely still practise observational drawing, and it undoubtedly aids this aspect of my drawing, too. I used to use fanart specifically to practise it, but this year I've taken to separating my fanart from my study art because I find that it allows me to be less miserable when it doesn't come out good LOL now I just do oil painting which helps me focus more on general shapes and values)

Using these types of categorised diagrams has also helped me simplify that initial structure of the body when I'm sketching. Having general markers of what muscle goes where definitely helps me set the position of the body in the long run.

I very, very highly encourage the use of references always, but especially when still learning to get more confident with anatomy!!!! Me not using references for poses is very much at the cost of having anatomy that could be even More accurate LOL I merely know where to place the lines to make things look Passably believable. Buuuttt that's also just the process of improving. Imagination is a muscle that has to be trained too. What's been helping me find a happy middle nowadays is drawing with references that cover small parts instead of using the reference for the whole illustration. FOR EXAMPLE!!!

I had drawn this much of the catlaila I recently posted without a reference before I was like.. Huh. I can't really figure out what I want to with the arms, but I also don't know what is Physically Possible to do with the arms here, so I'll experiment with my 3D poser (WHICH BTW I LOVE AND USED TO USE RELIGIOUSLY FOR EVEEERYTHING SO!! GO DOWNLOAD LOL it's called MagicPoser) and I had adjusted the models up to this point before being like, ok yeah this is enough for me to go off of as something that is physically feasible. So the posing of the rest of the models is whatever because I just needed to know what Laila's arms would look like. This was the final linework:

Like, it's still not a 1:1 with the reference, but it's just enough that it seems feasible !! My personal opinion is that sometimes reference doesn't capture the Shapes that I want it to, even if it's more realistic, so it's ok to break rules and just go with your flow lol... It's shocking how many times I've thought references of real human bodies look unrealistic and ridiculous HAHA Hence focusing more on learning the muscle groups/shapes so that I can adjust to my liking without sacrificing the integrity of the anatomy...

Also, not necessarily on anatomy, but I use plenty of references when I need to see things like how tight shirts stretch over breasts, or how cloth sits at a certain angle, or, honestly, hands. I almost always draw hands by looking at my own. I cannot stress enough: I use plenty of references. I am not a magician and I don't have perfect memory, even after four/five years of studied drawing x)))

Anyway. I've yapped so much. I try to be detailed in my explanation of anatomy because god knows how much I struggled with it!!! I STILL do. If you ever catch the link to it, I often stream these drawings and you'll see how many times I duplicate these layers so I can erase whole sections and try again, or how often I'll attempt the position of a leg over and over before I feel its right. The final product is so quick to digest but the process is frustratingly finicky, I promise, LMAO.

I hope this wasn't too convoluted and long, and I wish you the super best on your anatomy journey! If you ever need help and catch me at the right time, I'm totally open to giving any work a second opinion ! :3c

yes i draw every day!! the only days i don't draw are the ones where i'm out all day or super busy. i go crazy if i go too long without drawing.. but i'm also super fast at drawing so i tend to draw more than one thing a day. how else could i have gotten ruikasatober finished twice?

funny enough.. i've always been like this. i've always drawn every day, so it's not a new thing brought on by ruikasa. although the two do certainly make me a little more insane than before..

I’m kinda taking a pause on working on the stuff I said I wanted to do cuz unfortunately I don’t honestly feel THAT great, like my throat feels so sore and I often cough a lot to the point my lungs hurt. It was like that before a few days ago along with me having a fever which I no longer have yet I still seem to struggle with this coughing problem for some reason. It’s not like dangerously bad but just very annoying and sometimes I get too hot or have my lungs hurt cuz of it.

So for now, I went back to doodling again and guess what, it’s with New Ninja! And i basically doodled them dealing with my current situation except this seems like a less bad version of it even though I tried my best to portray it right.

Poor kid joining in my suffering….at least Randy is there to help! I kinda tried to give him a SLIGHTLY different look with the little scars and a bit of the hair since like I said, in the AU New Ninja is from the teens are kinda older, including him. I don’t know how I feel about it so far tho.. oh well.

Where are New Ninja’s parents and why aren’t they helping?… they’re super busy workaholics that’s why. No seriously, that’s basically what they are like.

I also made a few more doodles involving the kid, mostly cuz I wanted to plus it’s been awhile since I made any more doodles related to them and their story in a way. So here ya go!

1st doodle: Nomi! New Ninja, doodled something for this idea long ago and decided to bring it back but with New Ninja being in their normal attire instead of their ninja one. As you can see, they’re….kinda gloomy.

2nd doodle: oh boy, can’t draw things about this kid without some juicy angst! This isn’t related to Nomi NN btw! This is a thing that happens during their story where they get nightmares at night of them getting treated horribly by their ninja self. It is linked to their insecurities and bad thoughts as the ninja! Dark, I know but it’s canon in their story and Au, and unfortunately they gotta have to deal with it for a loooong time!

3rd doodle: Basically how New Ninja first found out they were….well, the new ninja! Their reaction is pretty much the opposite of Randy’s first time.

4th last doodle: oh? What’s this? New Ninja seems to be in the middle of something serious with a certain magical being of some kind….what could it be?.. that’s for me to know and for you to find out!

Yuri Mitsukou!! I love this question

So awhile back I posted smth like “no fem4masc Yuri Mitsukou it has to be masc4masc” which like. I don’t really agree with anymore. I like that in canon one of them is feminine while the other is masculine and it’s not really done in a stereotypical way. Fandoms make a really big deal about people feminizing male characters- and for good reason, it does happen a lot. But that gets taken to the point that they end up unintentionally reinforcing traditional gender roles. “How dare you draw that man in a skirt” or “that male character would never cry.” It’s also weird to me that I never see the same defense given to female characters being masculinized, so it ends up feeling like a lot of fans just hate femininity. So when a male character is feminine and seemingly likes masc dudes but has one of the loudest personalities in the manga, I think it’s pretty neat. Ofc there are fans that are weirdly against calling Mitsuba feminine but I already blocked most of them so idk what they have to say

(I could talk more in-depth about how fans are so worried about feminizing Mitsuba that they erase all the soft parts of his personality and make him one-dimensional but I’ll hold my tongue)

However, with fem!Mitsuba things are usually portrayed differently. Since dude Mitsuba’s initial conflict was being bullied for looking like a girl, most people say that the reverse would be girl Mitsuba being bullied for looking like a dude. This is fine but we also have to keep in mind that the entire gag of Mitsuba’s character is that he looks feminine but has an unfiltered personality, based on his looks you would never expect him to act that way. So if girl Mitsuba looks boyish, does that mean her personality would be super soft and delicate?? Because, yeah Mitsuba does have a soft side but not in that way, and it’s not at the forefront of his personality. Plus girl Mitsuba could still get bullied for looking too feminine, internalized misogyny is very much a thing

However, at the end of the day it really depends on personal preference so I’m not at all bashing either depiction of fem!Mitsuba. I go back and forth over which one I like more. Gender themes are a pretty big part of how I write Mitsukou so it’s hard for me to imagine that switched up, but it’s also incredibly interesting to think abt. All in all I like to keep fem!Mitsuba looking androgynous, maybe she has a boyish face but still dresses very feminine. Or maybe she has a girly face but dresses very masc. It’s one of those things I like a variety of interpretation on. For this I say she keeps the same hair length and pink cardigan but wears the girls uniform. So like yeah she basically just looks the same

As for Kou, those of you that read my wlw Kou//Nene fic should know that masc girl Kou is actually everything to me. A lot of fans sort of flip their gender presentations when gender bending them- Mitsuba becomes masc and Kou becomes fem. That’s totally great if that’s what you like but for me personally Kou is gonna be wearing Old Spice. I like to imagine her hair a tad longer in the back, like a choppy version of the Bisexual Bob. She wears some type of hoodie over her uniform the same way canon Kou wears a t-shirt under his uniform. The hoodie is blue btw (gotta incorporate the lore from my mtsk fics)

I feel like their personalities and dynamic would stay mostly the same! Maybe make them a bit clingier the way female friendships are but they’re already pretty clingy in canon lol. I do wonder if Kou’s flaw of not being able to open up about his feelings properly would change due to gender socialization. But many women (including myself) have that problem too so I think it would stay the same. She might be able to open up to Teru or Yokoo and Satou better but she’d still struggle to admit when she’s feeling overwhelmed. I could see her not being the type to tell someone how she’s feeling until all those emotions have built up for months. That’s how I’ve seen the whole “can’t talk abt your emotions” problem present itself in women. And men tend to only feel comfortable opening up to their romantic partners, which is something we very much see with Mitsukou in canon. But with fem!Kou, if Yokoo and Satou were girls two they would probably encourage her to talk abt her feelings rather than just being like “let’s give him a task to distract him” (which is fine too, men have different ways of comforting their friends)

I decided upon Jesse's Zircon over Jesse the character (one in my bookmarks) b/c it seemed like Turquoise Zircon was less drawn this year but was his icon on AF. So easy pick from me :> (Btw doing Sodalite's stripes and copying Zircon's shape language was really fun!!)

@/clawothy (Twitter) - Chill Cat Another attack from last years bookmarks! It was definitely a soft but enjoyable opening into drawing furries since Claw's so human shaped. It was fun drawing his tail and patterns :>. This is just a nice character design all around.

@twidaisi - Speedy Service Twi was also one from my bookmarks, but also a doorway down an ArtFight rabbit hole. Which will become apparent in the next two pieces. For this one, I had a pretty clear pose in mind so I placed it onto O.R.B.I and went from there!! His design is so neat and he seems so cool! The pose was also pretty fun to do as well, just an overall fun art piece (Also this one got a revenge!!! I still really really love thank you so much!!!!!)

@scratchgeist - Escapism Ho! This was a doozy! Twi had Scratch's profile linked so I ended up hitting him with an attack too. Drawing Scratch's mane turned out to be a pleasant experience despite me originally fearing it. This scene idea also came from a prompt of Scratch going outside. I ended up putting Polish on this because all those scratchy "ink like" lines I actually did manually (take a fuzzy brush and then go over it using a sketchbook eraser). It was nice dipping my toes into BatIM again and trying out more animal feature.

@/stylin.art Instagram @/crypticc0rpse Instagram - Pirates in arms One of those two people were linked on Scratch's profile and the person linked also linked to the other person. But I realized that both Stylin and Crypt had some shared characters. So this ended my little rabbit hole of people by attacking these two lovely fellows at the same time. This little crossing swords idea took me a nice minute to come up with but I liked how it ended up anyway. I really did like drawing James together like this (probably helps that I really like pirates in general). Also yes I know her hand is fucked up I noticed way to late to fix it.

@smoresthehalloweenqueen - Listen to the waves Once I finished up with that I moved onto the next bookmark, which was Smores! Originally I was gonna draw Brutus but then I was like "I like his sona it looks like fun!" So I drew them listening to music because why not :>. I struggled on the arms initially but it came out real clean and nice. Honestly might be my best work so far! (Fun fact, I color picked the waves + background from Seafoam's icon.)

@skittisketch - I got it! Mr. Sascachawean himself! I referenced this pose form the classic Objection point because I thought it would fit his personality. This was also a little bit of a test with a style I had only done in sketches (Basically my human style but omitting a neck which somehow shaves off a lot of time). This was a super fun pose to do with a pretty nice background! (Once again, fucked up hand I know I noticed too late again)

@justpainterrobot - Rare Nightly Sight I had this really really clear picture of what I thought up for this attack and I'm happy that I was able to make it a reality. I put the polish tag on this one because I almost got super super detailed of what the junk was below her (Stuff coming down from Elysium n all that) but due to a lack of references I just went with typical metal and wood. Fun fact, the night sky in the background is based on the one from Deponia itself (The first game's scenes with the professor at night). I think this rewrite of Toni was really cool from what I could find about her. Overall a labor of love type of attack.

@coelpts @swan-swanno - Boss Battle I thought to myself "Hm, I see Coelpts around a lot, lets hit him with an attack." and it turns out Ciel's gay married to Swanno's charater Mikhail, who was the last one in my bookmarks from last year. So another double attack for this one! It was a struggle starting this one mostly because I was debating whether or not to draw Ciel's Lord outfit but I ended up doing so because why not :>. It was a fun experience copying Swanno's more angular style, which is a stark departure from my more rounded shapes (As you can see here). Has a nice venture doing the lighting as well, overall a good experience.

@tailsylennon - Sweet Treats Mitchell showed off Tasily's proflie one day and I saw their sona and was I was like "Lemme draw it!" and did! I ended up following another prompt by her because it was their birthday! (By the time I started on this it was 8 pm and I freaked tf out and got to work). Her sona was really cool and I really loved drawing them. Fun fact, each of the set pieces references the Hallows Souls trio. The chair is decorated after Terra, Markus is the table, and Whistle pallet is used for the tea set :>. It was just a pleasant and cozy attack to make overall.

@ceaseless-enemy - Congratulations!!!! I've actually known about Voila for quite awhile now and thought his design n theaming is quite neat! I actually based the pose off of Ai from Oshi No Ko (I think one of her key arts before the anime released, ifykyk). But I skillfully cut out the legs because I can't draw digitigrade legs... Hooray... Otherwise it was quite nice to work on this attack in particular, especially the eyes and the hair :>.

@killbent - Getting Ready This is another one I had a real clear idea of prior to doing this, specifically because Killbent gave a prompt to give Mr Fairchime pink hair, so i thought a "pre-show" set up would look nice :>. The lighting was another new venture for me, because I usually do cool/night time like lighting but I think it turned out nicely for Fairchime. It was also fun doing the accessories and stuff on the vanity as well. Fun Fact, it's a bit hard to see through the watermark + lighting but the face paint and pallet both have the colors of his make up! Overall a pleasant and warm attack for this year.

And that's all of them so far! I picked up some new bookmarks + I gotta get Twi back for drawing Compact!! So those will probably be compiled by the end of AF so about, early August-ish if I keep up the pace. Anyway, thank you so much for reading and gracing me with the opportunity to draw all of these amazing characters!

okok great god grove thoughts ive beaten the game now

god damn! first game i've beaten this year and i've found peak already. every game i play after will be worse /j seriously i really enjoyed it, i knew i'd like it i mean i loved smile for me, but wow! this game made me change my profile picture!

but anyway. i'm not great at explainin my feelings about things. but this game made me really really happy when i've been kinda feeling Shit and Ass lately. the message about connection really struck me hard as someone who's always struggled to connect with people myself..but people will listen if i try! i hope!

gameplay wise i reaallly like the puzzles. the difficulty of them felt like it progressed smoothly and they were all super clever too, but not too difficult that i ever felt like i needed to look anything up! same goes for the boss fights, which i didnt expect to exist at all honestly (the first boss had me like "omg the bizzyboys hiiii!!!!! hey why does this place look like an arena Hey") i really like all of the gods, if i was forced at gunpoint to pick a favorite i'd probably say bauhauzzo but i really like cobigail too. and huzzle mug, click clack, thespius, mitternacht, king, inspekta and whoops i've just listed all of them. but i mean how can i not they're all so good??? i like bauhauzzo and huzzle mug's story a lot it just makes me so happy to see a super close friendship given the same importance as a romance yknow what i mean. they're besties and they care so much about each other ooughgughdsnfjn. and i would hang out with cobigail every day btw she's so silly but also super caring i love herr. i love the bizzyboys sm. capochin being so desperate to feel important, to have a purpose, the devotion burger recipe video drives me Normal????? i can't word it but i need to throw capochin out of a window. the need to feel important the need to have purpose the blind following of inspekta because he thinks inspekta will give him that. also he's a little gay for him i think. patty learning to stand up for herself PATTY I LOVE YOUUUU transfem patty is real to me by the way. i love her i mean she's my pfp rn you can probably tell. vib getting a little too into the thought of capochin being sweaty and dirty was hilarious to me btw i respect him for it. i hope the bizzyboys are able to truly help people now under hector's leadership and man, the finale...ouuh if i didnt have dry eye i would've cried so hard. the LEITMOTIFS!! everyone working together to close the rift...inspekta/hector realizing what he's done wrong and doing his best to fix it, returning to humanity forever to remember who he is...and king! king reuniting with mitternacht WUAHG THEY'RE SO CUTE??? the fact that she calls mitternacht a bag of bones (affectionate) and she has a MATCHING HEART SYMBOL??? OIHUIHG?? im normal btw. im so happy hector gets to have a hopeful ending too anyway really good game its somewhere in the top games ive ever played list i wish i could write the kind of awesome analysies other people do but. alas! i really like it and i need to draw myself as a bizzyboy right now tl:dr
