thinking about leorio looking for kurapika in york new. how naive he was, hopeful to find him. i like to imagine him thinking that he could find him, because of their connection, because of his will to see him. but no, it doesn't work. it's impossible. i like to imagine a kind of reality setting in here for leorio. how a person can be truly unreachable. how they might never see each other again, and he's powerless to do anything about it. i wonder when that fully sets in.

I've been reading the BL/horror manga The Summer Hikaru Died/Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu, and I was really happy to come across this unexpected reference to Gon and Killua's relationship! The fact that this is a BL series and the larger context of this mention make it an especially nice reference IMHO.

The manga itself is super interesting--I definitely recommend it!

(This was in Chapter 16. However, I don't recommend trying to find this scene if you're interested at all in reading it, it's a pretty spoilery scene...)

I don't know what would be a funnier setup; Kurapika receiving a quick tutorial and still bungling it, or Morel presenting him with the supplies and saying, "show me what you got!" as a callback to the 2nd phase of the Hunter Exam. Anywho, happy (belated) 420 to those who celebrate!
