#HAPPY TO BE ENOLOUED EXCLAMATION POINT!!! but the hashtag energy is off#ran into an old friend from highschool at work tn...who ended up on a similar path as i did towards the end#and im trying not to judge him for it. im sure he had his reasons cuz so did i.#but the girl whose position i replaced was his ex girlfriend apparently. and she told me some of the things he did to her#and. yeah#he was very friendly to me tonight but he could tell something was off. and i could tell that bothered him :(#its just weird cuz i loved this guy he was a very close friend and obvi iv3 only heard the one side#plus this girl said some unprompted anti masking shit to me which was like err ahh uncomfortable#but all in all she was a sweet person with a good heart#even wrote me a mini goodbye letter wishing me luck!!#and the things she said he did sounded veryyyy familiar in terms of my ex#and its just kind of shaken me up a bit#someone from a part of my past that i never really left has come back and weve both changed#afaik he and i were the only ones who went awol and broke contact w everyone else#idk....kindred spirits but also wary#ykwim#anyway. still dealing with the feeling of I Dont Belong Here at my job#while simultaneously needing it to survive#such things are odd. life is odd

#icemav#top gun edit#ice is a FASCINATING one to watch post-hop 31 imo because while yes‚ obviously‚ the focus is on maverick and his grief and devastation#ice is there the whole time in the background‚ watching. and he's visibly disturbed by what he's seeing. because yeah -#he and mav had a rivalry going and yeah he called maverick dangerous and reckless to his face and he stands by that - he does.#but the problem is that this time - this one fluke freak accident of a time - it wasn't maverick's fault at all.#an unrecoverable flat spin brought on by a compressor stall from ice's jetwash isn't something that maverick could've outflown#by sticking to textbook maneuvers. it was just shit luck and shitty circumstances aligning to create a tragic mishap.#but now - now ice can see the way maverick is unraveling in the aftermath#and i'd bet that on some level it terrifies him to see that.#he's used to seeing maverick with all that brash cocky confidence with the moves to back it up.#he's maybe even had a bit of fun jockeying against that. not that he'd admit that out loud. There's not a demographic on this earth that can be treated as a monolith, even if you've suffered trauma at the hands of people who belong to it. It'd be nice if we could put people in little boxes and treat them all one way unilaterally and avoid them forever, but we can't, because we live in a world where we're all interconnected. Separatism, as appealing as it may sound, is neigh on impossible. I am not asking you to forgive and ignore your trauma. I am only asking you to remember that we are all humans with similar capability for love and emotion and compassion, regardless of arbitrary social division passing itself off as science.

hot take the biggest reason that byler doubt still exists in this day and age is because people are viewing everything through a lens of mike being bi and not gay and doubting that they've written mike as fully gay directly contributes to them thinking byler may not be a possibility. (bc they think the writers are not capable of going all the way with anything in this show when it is literally the opposite, like why do u think he has to be bi or has to have been in love with el at one point??) but if i made a really long post explaining why and that mike's specific sexuality is actually extremely important for the context of his character ppl would get mad at me lol

As much as I enjoy picking apart and having Emotions TM about Little's many low points - his failures and the indignities he suffers at the hands of fate and his fellow man - that darkness just can't hit the same unless you consider the light too (and I think many out there do fail to consider that light).
He isn't compelling to me just by how many times he gets knocked down, he's compelling for the fact that he gets back up again.
