It’s snowing where I’m at today, so an obligatory “Xmas Marks The Spot” post!!

Funny how this episode portrays Peter’s dad as an absolute asshole before we even meet him. As Ray reveals, he was always absent during Christmas, and knowing his field of work I doubt it was for a good reason. Obviously that affected Peter a lot and in order to numb the pain he pretended to not care about Christmas at all. He kept that front up for so long he began believing it, yet it still did not make him feel better.

When the guys learn about it they drag him out to the city, wanting to give him a holiday he never had, which I find extremely sweet. He’s not excited because he’s stubborn and can’t just give up the mindset he’s had for so long, but it’s still lovely to see them try to cheer him up 🫶

And it is not until a direct confrontation with Scrooge that he realizes that being angry at the holiday itself isn’t the way and is only preventing him from having something he always wanted but never had before. This can be read as him talking about Christmas itself, but I always understood it as having a caring family. He never did - not really, and now there are people around him who are willing to go out of their way to cheer him up and spend time with him, make him feel better. And by the end of the episode he realizes how valuable that actually is.

Funny things I found out playing with language setting in Netflix while looking episode 15:

Chilchuck's scream sounds HAUNTED in brazilian portuguese. Give it a try if you can.

In spanish dub, Senshi says: "tocó mis senos de hombre", which means "he touched my man boobs" in Spanish. And I think that's the best dub line one so far.

I'm jumping off a bridge. Their backstory is so tragic, I can't.

The fact that even Queenie being in the state she was, Kinger still found humanity in her, the fact that he risked his life knowing she could go crazy and attack him just so he could touch her one last time.

And the fact that Queenie allowed him to do it, the fact that she was able to keep control as a abstracted just so she could feel him. Because she loved him and he loved her back and both of them knew her fate, but in that moment, it was just them, their last moment together so both made it work.

This is such a powerful image I want to hug both of them.
