I love queer movies where the protagonist realizes that his ex-girlfriend is better off with someone else, and that he actually finds his soulmate in his mutant best friend (+their love language is killing each other)

my favorite thing about young royals is that it’s a story about ending cycles of generational trauma. while wilhelm’s abdication arc shows him choosing personal agency over familial duty, the eriksson siblings break down their own generational pattern of running away from negative emotions in order to cope.
one of strongest scenes in s3 is when micke tells sara that he has passed down his trait of harboring shame and beating himself up for his mistakes. micke copes by numbing his guilt out with alcohol, further sabotaging his own ability to be a parent. sara isolates herself from the people she hurt because she doesn't believe she deserves forgiveness. simon uses marcus as a distraction to run from his feelings, only to cave to his love for wille and feel guilt about how he navigated the situation.
but throughout s3, we see sara and simon face their difficult emotions rather than allow avoidance to continue to shape their decision making. simon finally opens up to linda about how overwhelming the public backlash has been and ultimately accepts that he has to prioritize his own needs rather than making himself small. sara faces the people she hurt and attempts to rebuild those relationships without allowing the guilt to prevent her from living her life as micke has done within his own family. in the end, sara and simon no longer villainize themselves for their feelings and are able to make healthier decisions.
and though the series ends with micke and kristina still burdened by their respective family curses, both parents are shown to be proud of who their children are becoming. you hope that, one day, they will be able to follow in their children’s footsteps to begin the healing process themselves. there is still time!

He had taken what he called un petit coup. The little drink. Not enough to kill me, but just enough to keep him fit. It takes an enormous amount of restraint for us, the little drink. For a human, experiencing it for the first time, it was... unsettling. And not for the physical toll on my body, which was significant, but for the feelings of intimacy it awoke within me.

This. This right here.
They spent so much time together, went through so much. They knew each other, in every way. So much that Lestat was sure Louis had hurt himself in San Francisco. He didn't need to be there. Didn't need to reach him telepathically. He just knew.
Just like Louis knew he needed to see Lestat again, talk to him, feel him in his arms.
They don't have to get back together. They just have to know that the other is alright.
That's not a vampire bond.
That's pure and genuine love.
