cruelposting but harm reduction is interesting bc yes it makes people less likely to die from overdose or drug side effects but at the same time the population of very heavy addicts keeps growing and shrinking much slower because they can stay alive while maintaining addictions that should, in another world, have killed them 4 times over. and so the harm reduction programs endlessly grow and grow. you never die which is good bc all your ngo and drug addict buddies carry narcan and clean supplies on them but you also never get any incentive to really get clean because its made maintaining a highly risky and dangerous + highly antisocial habit Safer :-). when if im being honest and realistic forcing people into rehab is probably a better long term solution even if it profoundly sucks short term. for the addicts at least. the fact that people dont like it bc "addicts dont like that :-(" is funny because like if you ask an addict what they like the response is gonna be well i like getting high. and we know that is bad for them and basically everyone around them lol.
