#IT’S WHAT HE WAS! IT’S WHAT HE DID! it was what made him able to carry the Ring to the Samath Naur!#no hope for the success of it no hope in the face of the Enemy’s power and might but he went on regardless in despair but still trying#and he paid a dear price—all of himself#body and soul hollowed out and left in shreds and tatters#AND THEN HE CONTINUES ON ANYWAY#giving even more of himself to rebuild the Shire#enduring on and on despite not having had any real hope for his own recovery or victory or joy or healing for a long time#god Frodo. endurance beyond Hope indeed#and always Sam—Hope Unquenchable. to the very fires of the volcano and the heart of evil darkness watching one he loved be destroyed#and then claiming the eventual miraculous victory and recovery with two hands and fashioning#a beautiful full rich life full of love and service and growth and healing after all is said and done#despite all the pain#I am being So Very Normal about this#lotr#Sam#Frodo#Sam and Frodo#personal
