Interesting editing fact I noticed:

Himeno is the only one of the three that entered Rita's room but actually shown using the door. Gira and Jeramie were shown to already be in Rita's room.

So far only 2 people have been confirmed to be allowed entrance: Himeno and Morfonia. Himeno at the end of episode 16 when Rita doesn't lock the door when she leaves, Morfonia in 25 when invited in to discuss the God KingOhger plan. They are the only ones Rita is confirmed to open their heart to.

So Himeno would freely use her privilege by entering their room whenever she pleases.

But when it came to Gira and Jeramie, it's more of asking *when* Rita allowed them in. I'm not sure if Rita keeps their office locked when they're not in it, but I don't remember hearing the locks engaging in Episode 5 when they left it the first time. But I also didn't hear them disengaging so probably an idea made in 16.

In Episode 29, it's confirmed that they do care for Jeramie considering their anger when he sacrificed himself for the Kings and is entrusted with taking care of the Bugnarok. Considering they had no problem telling Jeramie about their parents and making the plush, it's more likely they've grown closer while living in the same region.

As for Gira, he seems more like Episode 10 Morf where he just barges in like a little brother. Leaving the door open and airing out Rita's secrets in the open rather than in private compared to the previous 2. Rita does respect him as a fellow King, but considering they wouldn't arrest him at the end of it, they would consider him a friend. When? I dunno. Probably because he didn't do anything stupid during the time-skip and slowly grew as King 😂

On todays episode of me being a little bit dumb;

Did anyone else not realize some of the darker things that were hinted at in the Netflix version of the sandman till you read the comics? Bc my dumb (and probably neurodivergent) ass did not realize the implications of the scene in the last episode where Richard Madoc goes up to “talk” to Calliope after he gets that phone call and then he comes down with a cut across his cheek.

Like when I read that bit in the comics I was like “OH WOW, well at least he didn’t do that in the show.” And then I watched that episode again and I realized I am just not good at picking up certain subtleties.

Also I think my experiences with shipping make me estranged from the general culture of it because 80% of the “ships” I “ship” and talk about on here I do so for majority humorous reasons. Idrgaf about shipping beyond the ability for fictional characters to fit into romcom tropes, and when I treat them seriously I don’t really consider romance unless their story is inherently romantic. Because then I’m not actually reading the story am I?

This is such an inconsequential detail but, in any sort of 'ending' for Pixie, in any timeline, that involves her leaving special forces/active duty military, she grows out her hair.

It isn't much longer than when it's at her longest verse-wise (chin-length, just long enough to be pulled back into a low ponytail), but it's long enough to reach + (barely) go past her shoulders.

As of the end of the book, Bill is in the process of being forced into a redemption arc. Please understand that I say that like "the airplane is in the process of being forced into a shoebox." It's not successful thus far and might never be successful from what the book presents. But the road is offered to him.

In my opinion, Bill & Ford's relationship is being written like a (mostly one-sided) romantic relationship (from Bill toward Ford), with multiple in-text parallels between how Bill talks about romance and how Bill interacts with Ford, and I believe the romantic coding is deliberate. I have not yet read something that explicitly verifies Romantic Emotions Are Happening and I don't expect to.

Like, we're at a point where Bill crushing on Ford has less textual support than Dipper crushing on Wendy, but more textual support than Tyler Cutebiker crushing on Manly Dan, and maybe even more textual support than whatever thing Dipper & Pacifica have going on.

It's left open-ended enough that you CAN go "Bill's just platonically obsessed with Ford and platonically trying to 'seduce' him and platonically heartbroken when Ford rejects their partnership after learning what Bill's up to." That is still an option. But this is some INCREDIBLY heavy romantic subtext.

At this point, "there's no romantic feelings on anybody's part here" is no longer the most default/neutral reading of Bill & Ford; it's gotta be, like, a choice. A choice that remains valid within the canon text, but still a choice.

So not "canon" as in "the word love is brought up between them" or "they were in a relationship," but "canon" as in "I believe wholeheartedly that the writer's intent was to make us think about a (toxic) romantic relationship when reading these scenes, whether or not such a relationship ever took place." The text doesn't quite go there, but it openly invites you to go there if you want.

I firmly believed the book wouldn't be any more billfordish than the show & J3 were—just some light, probably unintentional subtext. It completely blew past my expectations.

And what those movies do is a bit unfair, actually.

Yes, Deadpool is canonically pan, but to a regular straight audience he is not.

We live in a heteronormative world and actual queer rep has to be explicit to be recognized.

And no, I'm not discussing that particular point, you all know that's a fact and Deadpool 2 got his GLAAD nomination for Yukio and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and not for whatever Wade was doing.

But Wade never actually being with a dude (not even in comics sadly) is not even the main issue here.

The jokes in Deadpool are exactly the same lol gay jokes 90s and 2000s action movies use.

And people growing up with these kind of movies cannot differentiate.

How would they know if Wade has sex or hate boner for someone?

Sexual innuendo especially in fight scenarios is often used by straight men to ridicule their opponent.

So Deadpool truely manages to have the cake and eat it.

Queer audiences love it, because they know it's queer.

Straight folks think issa joke and homophobic people are elated the movie is allowed to make 'gay jokes' and is therefore not 'woke'. (No joke, I saw those reviews).

That's something pretty special.

And it would be kinda shitty but well, the homophobes basically watched two guys hatefucking in subtext for 2 hrs without noticing, so that's at least ironic.

I hope this explains the disconnect folks are feeling in regards to very different movie reactions.
