OK enough ruminating on old relationships, I have (checks notes) catholic cardinals to draw
#this is why i was thinking about 'uniform whore' as a turn of phrase re things men ive dated have said in conversation#this would make more sense with more context but i'd have to pull out an 800 page book for a specific sentence#for the context to make sense and i am. SLEEPY

I have gone between two all encompassing soul devouring extremes this month, one was james bond, the other is ascanio sforza, and neither will let me SLEEP
#went to take a nap and instead i was awake thinking about things and mentally making lists about things like#enough. ENOUGH. let me REST#anyway my sister is chronically incapable of texting me back so im thinking of cancelling plans to fly out to (redacted) to visit her#might fantasize about a 4 day trip to italy. milan + rome.#<< this is not a financially sound plan bc i do need to go to the philippines next year. but. god. i neeeeeeed to get inside of ascanio

i have understood so many things about online leftist culture by the fact that when i said "your local community has people you will morally and politically disagree with but you cannot lock them out of accessing any tangible service you’re organising" one of the tags responding said "this isn’t about proshippers in here you’re not welcome" like. folks. focus with me. some of us are homeless here.

in my humble opinion, the moment you know you or a friend truly in it as a sports fan is if you have beef with sports reporters. officially in the trenches

Genuinely insane that George W Bush can go to like, starbucks or whalgreens or whatever without the constant fear that anyone he meets might start ripping at him with their hands and teeth like a baboon as soon as they lock eyes on him

a lot of my friends make their living as sewists & costumers and something i see a lot is that they’re selling custom commissions made from shirt/pants/dress etc. patterns that they painstakingly created and through hard work & a little luck a video of the pieces gets “viral” views and the comments are absolutely filled with people asking then to sell the pattern instead, specifically because it would be cheaper.
i understand the desire for access to gorgeous indie pieces & i know it can be frustrating that they’re out of our price range, but small designers are under no obligation to release their custom-made patterns.
i say this because i have genuinely seen drama across social media devolving into hate toward fibre artists who don’t release patterns to clothes/knit/crochet pieces they’re actively selling in their stores.
there are so so so so so many cheap & even free patterns available online that you can definitely find one similar to the piece you’re admiring, and with some practice you can learn to alter or even create patterns to replicate pieces you see online. you really don’t need to be badgering small artists.

anyway the MI6 book briefly goes into how the US uses intelligence in the government economy of legislation and policy making and I feel like I'm just slowly losing hit points with every new sentence.

#when a very boring 'oh damn i dont know how many agencies are needed to run state intelligence' has you up until 3am with a pen#and notebook writing down notes. augh. blegh.

honestly seems like a baffling oversight for a book on the structures of western intelligence agencies to discuss MI5/SIS/MI6/etc, the FBI/CIA/etc, and then jump to, very specifically, italian intelligence operations under the fascist gov't during WWII, skipping entirely over the french DGSE. what kind of comparative text are you.
#??? ???????#the MI6 book has more to say about the structure of the DGSE than the intelligence-espionage structure book

I've got a stack of dense reading material for this stupid horny spy thriller comic but the part that took the longest and required the most effort was figuring out a name for one of my principal characters. I finally decided on one last night and I might change it again.
#i went through nine different names and eventually just wrote down a whole bunch one one page and started assembling combos#on the other until one clicked. terrible. because i have a name now. but im looking at it and thinking 'ah....but what if his last#name was Madison......' tragically none of the first names i think he should have sound snappy enough to fit with Madison#like James fits but i cannot name this character James Madison (<< US president) that would cause me personally some kind of#psychic damage.
