as we enter the start of a semester and the dreaded Hour of Making Friends us upon us... if ur ever at a loss for what to say in one of those weird social situations where you only vaguely-know people, one of my favorite questions to ask is "what is your favorite food crime." a food crime is like the food combination that you love that other people find revolting. press them to take it further than pineapple on pizza, that's rote. food crimes is a good topic that has many benefits as it turns out all people are degenerates and also it will give you some cool ideas to try out later in the privacy of your own degenerate kitchen

the other good thing to ask is "okay but has anyone here ever been someplace haunted" bc it turns out if you ask most people directly they don't believe in ghosts, but many people are like "oh yeah i lived in a haunted house. ghosts aren't real tho"

Easily one of my favorite things about Zoro and Luffy (not necessarily in a shipping context, though *I* enjoy them in a shipping context) is the way they seem so different on a surface level - this whimsical sunshine boy captain and his big, stoic, serious right hand man - but when you actually get to know them, they’re pretty much two halves of the same weird goddamn idiot

Specifically, I love that whenever Luffy is doing / saying something totally absurd, there’s a not insignificant chance that we’re about to cut to Zoro, whether he’s two steps away or halfway across the island, doing the exact same unhinged shit, and it’s so goddamn funny every time???

In TDP this works in multiple directions, far too many directions to take this criticism seriously, so it's funny again. 2 me.

Please don't stop thinking once you've just got started, not with this show. Its whole vibe is about how characters in different situations are still people, and still have things in common despite their differences. Even the dark things.

This "you're the worst and you deserve to die" vibe is one of the characters' many mindsets as they all struggle with anger and hurt. If you've never been this hurt and angry, that's fine. This show might not speak to you on that level. But for those of us who can relate to this pain and fury and don't want to feel terrible for having a normal reaction to extremely bad circumstances, it feels appropriate, and we feel seen.

Please don't trivialize a story just because it didn't land for you. Don't be That Guy.

August’s big thing is actually something they did many times already, but in the comfort of their own environment. This time, Allura booked their performance, one of her favorites, for a party - proud friend as she was, never shutting up about how many competitions they won her.
