Searching: Part 2

I thought I'd make a post like this to answer your ask @luarsunny. I can't add a page break in the ask box, and I don't want to accidentally spoil anything for anyone.

Warnings: Graphic depictions of death and grief. Tobiuo is my OC. One Piece speculation and potential spoilers beneath the cut. Page break added just in case.

Canon divergence. I know that's not where they are right now.

First of all, I am very much in denial and have been since I read it. This was the initial comic I did hint at how I saw it going down without spoiling anything. She is looking for the remains of the Victoria.

If she ever found what was left of the Kid Pirate crew in the depths of the sea, the Heart Pirates would be the ones rendered speechless rather than Tobiuo.

"At Elbath, in the New World, the Kid Pirates lead by Eustass "Captain" Kid with a bounty of three billion berries... were destroyed."

There would be no words, no gasps, and no sounds made on behalf of the grief she would feel in her heart at those words. Immediately racing against time and daylight, she would not have to sign with her hands or write a word to have Law turn the Tang towards Elbath.

Being one of the few members of the Heart Pirates who could breathe and speak under water, she would frantically call out for any member to hear them in her search. The remainder of the crew would wait with baited breath, Bepo closing his eyes and whispering soft encouragements to Tobiuo while she attempts to remain composed.

Finding Killer first, who took the majority of the hit from Shanks, would break her. Killer and Tobiuo have an understanding between them: him being the middle ground who gives both Tobiuo and Heat that final push to get together. When she finds him half consumed by the creatures lingering in the deep, she would begin to unleash a scream that can transcend the barrier between oceans and air from beneath the water.

Bringing up the crew, one by one, she would momentarily pause on Heat as his eyes lay glazed and unresponsive. Her heart screams at her to stop and lay beside her lover, but Law commanded her to not rest until she finds Kid. She hasn't found him, and she's been searching for four days without rest.

Lethargic and hallucinating, she finds him. His body was locked between rock and bone. With his metal arm still attached, she attempts to use the last of her strength to drag him up. His body is bloated beneath the pressure of the sea, swollen and pruned with the salt pickling his skin. Dragging him up to lie beside the crew, Tobiuo would crawl over to lie beside Heat. Maneuvering herself to lie tucked into his chest and beneath his arm, she uses the last of her strength to let out a whimpering sob as she exhales the water from her gills. Once the water releases, her cries are once again silent as she mourns.

Regardless as to who attempts to move her, she lays there frozen and stubborn in her motion. She fasts for three days, only waking from her rest to cry for Heat and the crew in this time. The scent of death begins to linger in the air, the bodies of the Kid Pirates are given funerals on long boats lit ablaze by tongues of fire. As Law stoops down to gently rouse his prized fighter while she grieves, the only thing to physically make her release Heat from her arms is the promise of vengeance and crafting her wrath. Just as Law sought his revenge for Doflamingo, he swears by blood oath to aid her in unleashing her scorn onto Red Haired Shanks.

As a final say in mourning her lover, she openly weeps as she sinks her teeth into a lock of his lengthy blue hair, severing it's link from his decaying scalp. Clutching it in her webbed hands, she witnesses Shachi and Penguin cast the boat away to join his body with the others at sea.

Reaching behind her head, she twists the cutting of his hair in a braid interwoven into her own strands, mourning the man who held her heart completely. She would only eat to make herself stronger, develop her Haki to have her abilities foster, and lose a part of herself she had only once again regained. Sleep brings little rest, the world falls to a life without joy and colour, and her once cheeriness is all but lost to her and her crew.

She knows she can't kill Shanks alone. He's a yonko, and Tobiuo is not an idiot. But what she does know now is her reach is not limited to those who walk along the land…

Clan Culture expansion for WindClan on dealing with cows when???/jk though throwing out to the crowd that WindClan's moorland territory usually borders multiple farms (and the forest territories have every Clan pass through them to get to the Moonstone) there is So Much Potential for rumor, legend, and WILD misinterpretation for the cats wondering what cows are. Perhaps linked with the Rouge of Rot story, the touch of Twoleg taint makes the black-and-white ones forever starving, rotting inside..

ADMITTEDLY, I haven't put nearly as much thought into having cows present in either the Lake or Forest territories as you'd have expected. This is because I am actually not super familiar with conservation grazing revolving around cattle yet.

Re: Moorland is a managed biome which requires burns and/or grazing to maintain.

In my research, I found that specific animals are deployed to accomplish certain tasks. Cows and pigs are considered more "intense" than sheep, and risk turning the moor into grassland. So, I backed off and focused more on sheep.

That said...

I visited Elan Valley recently, and they are actually beginning a conservation grazing program using highland cattle. In the three hours I spent eith an expert asking questions, I barely scratched the surface of learning about all the different ways that livestock animals impact the environment.

I walked away from that realizing that I need to get more educated on what ALL the livestock animals contribute to British ecosystems. For example-- logging using horses leaves scores in the ground that mining bees use for habitat. Cattle are more effective browsers than sheep, so they're probably more suited to sparse woodland grazing.

SO, livestock in BB are under active construction right now. I have a lot to learn.

Diabolik Yuri Propaganda

Quick Diabolik pitch so that you too can enjoy the yuri even tho you're not part of the like 4 people to know who it is : Diabolik is an Italian comic series from the 60s (with an incredible movie by Mario Bava (link)), where the eponymous character is a master thief in a gimp suit that uses hyper realistic face masks to disguise himself and steal shiny trinkets or jewelry, and it's often for his girlfriend and partner in crime Eva Kant, former industrial spy and singer turned noble woman who left everything behind for a life of crime. They are relentlessly pursued by inspector Ginko, police guy obsessed with Diabolik (and vice versa) with whom he has a rival/arc nemesis relationship. Got everything so far (it will be on the test) ? Ok, so a few days ago a niche unofficial Diabolik James Bond crossover movie released in theaters in France called "reflet dans un diamand mort", in which Diabolik is a woman............... But we kinda never see her real face (it's complicated-), so I took the liberty of making up her design based on a mix of the actor from the 60s, who already looks like a butch woman, and a bit of Luca Marinelli who played him in the first remake <3

More yapping about Diabolik, this au and little aspects of the characters I love vvv

-For my Eva Kant I mixed her designs from the comic and the 60s movie, because I really like her with bangs, but to not get it in her eyes during heists she uses pins ! .... And I gave her brown eyes because she deserves them. So now it's a gorgeous brown eyes 4 freakish blue stare situation and it suits them a lot <3

- Diabolik being very off putting and not emoting much (outside of the diabolical laugh) because she entered civilization in her 20s and prior to that was raised by unhinged criminals on an island who didn't even bother naming her- that and the autism

- before meeting Eva, the secret lairs were purely functional grey brutalist basements (like seen in the first modern remake). Diabolik doesn't need decorations to fabricate her masks or dyi new gadgets ! But Eva suggested that for their "main" hideout, the huge cave under the sea, they should do something more dramatic ! More colorful ! Lady Kant won't tolerate living at least part time in something that looks like an underground parking dammit ! Hence the iconic lair with the stylish showers, circular rotating bed, and colors we see in danger diabolik <3 (or why their villa suddenly has round colorful windows in the third remake)

- I really like that they're not each others first love/relationship ! They're both in their late 30s early 40s, and had a life and multiple partners before that. Diabolik had two other lovers (that I know of), that she did care about but never to the same degree or in the same way she loves Eva. And of course never forget Eva Kant tricking her uncle into marrying her for revenge and status, and killing him djdkkd Diabolik is very much the first woman she loved, and that's why she's this unhinged about her

-speaking of love ! Their relationship is not healthy in a 'if one of them dies the others will kill herself with no hesitation' type codependency :)) also they often keep important secrets from one another, they both know that but don't resent the other for it. Their discussions are about 1) crimes and 2) how much they love each other kfkfkd they don't usually need more topics

- In canon, Eva Kant gives off major trans woman energy (never forget the plot point in danger diabolik 1968 where she must go see her special doctor for patients who need discreet treatments, or the comic where she disguised herself as a man *with no trouble* even tho there's a huge focus made on the voices of the characters having to match with the person they're replacing- like Diabolik got caught because he did not have a similar enough voice multiple times-), and it's an aspect of her character that I really like and could be integrated so well into her backstory... In a nutshell, she is the bastard daughter of one of the lord Kant, when she's 16 her father betrays and kills her mother because he is manipulated by his brother into doing so, kills himself right after, Eva is disowned and sent to an abusive boarding school but manages to escape years later by impersonating another girl she just burned the face of, flee the country to South Africa, becomes an industrial spy and a singer, runs into her uncle who ruined her life but *he does not recognize her*, seduces him into marrying her thus reclaiming the name Kant, does a dramatic reveal the night after their wedding that chocks him so bad he has a stroke and end up in a wheelchair, then she kill him years later with a panther after he tries to assassinate her with the same panther......... And it would be so easy to make her transition once she gets to South Africa- why does her uncle does not recognize her (even tho she did not change that much in the comics) ? Well, woman <3

(And if one wanted this to be t4t... well there *is* a story where Eva drugs Diabolik multiple times without his knowledge for something trivial.................. Could do the same with estrogen. She could force femme him, and I don't think he'd mind. She's Eva's girlfriend now :) ! Or extrapolate with the non binary plot point of Reflet dans un diamand mort)

- the fact they are loved, and at worst ignored, by lower and middle class people because they only rob the rich and the government <3 Diabolik and Eva Kant don't go after them, it makes for great stories to read in the news and sometimes they get to not pay taxes thanks to them ! Also they make the cops look like idiots and that's always a plus
