“S’okay.” He plops down onto the bed, careful not to jostle your elevated leg. “Just…give me a sec to get my heartrate back down to normal.” Hand to his chest, he takes deep, exaggerated breaths that have you giggling. 

“I mean, I could find something urgent,” you tease. “Maybe I’ll try walking without the crutches, or I can take out my stitches…”

Eddie’s nose wrinkles in a combination of disbelief and disgust. “Bullshit,” he counters. 

“Bullshit?”

“Bull. Shit.” He grins, gently poking your bicep. “You got all queasy that time you had to pull out a splinter, and you expect me to believe you can remove your own stitches?”

You let out a defeated groan. “Ugh, fine.” He knows you too well, and you love him for it. 

He gives you a triumphant kiss on the cheek and starts towards the kitchen. “Anything else the fair maiden needs while I’m up? More water? Ginger ale? Perhaps some champagne and caviar?” His eyes light up mischievously at the last suggestion. 

“I’m not supposed to drink on these meds,” you quip, playing right into his charade. 

“We’ll take a raincheck on the champagne, then.”

You shift back slightly, wincing as pain shoots through your leg. The surgery hurt more than the injury, and part of you wishes you had just muddled through and hobbled around instead of getting it fixed. 

Eddie returns a few minutes later with toast that’s just the right shade of burnt and slathered in strawberry jelly. He has a glass of water in his other hand, though you hadn’t asked for any. 

He places both on the snack table he’s set up next to the bed before reaching over and grabbing the bell. He rings it one time, loud and purposeful. 

“Can I help you?”

Nodding, he sits down. “I’m bored and need someone to talk to.” He rests his head on his pillow and pouts. “Entertain me?”

“There’s not much going on here.” You shrug, scanning the room for a conversation topic. He’s been taking care of you nonstop, and surgery recovery doesn’t exactly make for riveting discussions. Your eyes land on a magazine. “I read some interesting articles in Cosmo, I guess.”

“Oh, yeah?” Eddie waggles his brows. “Anything spicy?”

The next activity, much to your relief, is on solid ground; or rather, the back of a car. The four of you watch your favourite romantic comedy, settling in under the blankets with fresh drinks in your hand. You all but swoon when Carol pulls out chocolate covered strawberries. It’s such a picturesque moment and you never want it to end. But unfortunately, like the champagne and snacks; the film finishes. Only, the trio have more plans. Of course they do. You’re stripped bare and within mere minutes they have your eyes rolling back in your head and your hands grasping onto whatever they can find. When you’re back at your - because you had forgotten to get something - you lead your women into your bedroom and present them with a card and a small gift each. They take it in turn to kiss you and open what you got them.

It was finally your birthday party and all of the boys were at your house. Everything was set up, from food to decorations, the plates and glasses on the table along with napkins and utensils. The cake that you bought was a chocolate cake with chocolate glazing and some strawberries with white chocolate drizzled on top of them. Everyone took a seat and you felt so happy to be surrounded by such wonderful people. You offered them all sorts of food that was laid out, along with sodas, carbonated water, juice and some champagne, for whoever wanted it.

But some kind of shuffling suddenly interrupted you two.

Garden Themed Table Design For Easter

I think that Easter has to be one of my favorite holidays. It has always been a laid-back afternoon celebration where we invited a few family or friends for a small intimate brunch. We set up a pretty table on our patio and enjoyed the weather if the weather was warm enough. It is a nice way to welcome Spring.

 On this day, I decided to create this outdoor garden themed table design for Easter using ideas from my trellis, garden roses, and other things I find in my yard. I like to start my designs using a theme since it helps me with the initial direction of my table.

This collection of spring flowers just is so sweet with the calla lilies, tulips, and roses.

I made this tablecloth using a lovely fabric with a pink/orange trellis design, and I found the material in a wholesale fabric warehouse in Massachusetts.

Hint: Designers love to rummage through antique stores, warehouses, and the like to find exciting things they can use for decorating.

I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING PORTMEIRION’S BOTANICAL GARDEN DISHES for years. They are perfect for a BOTANICAL garden party since they have flowers, butterflies, and other critters on them. I never get tired of them.

On top of my Botanical Garden dish, I’ve placed a linen napkin with gorgeous embroidered spring and summer flowers. The colors are just so sweet, adding to the texture and theme of my tablescape.

Pink Lemonade Mimosas

1 cup pink lemonade

2 cups of prosecco or any champagne or sparkling wine.

Just a few drops of Grenadine (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Assemble time - 5 minutes.

Serves 2

Chill all of your ingredients

Pour pink lemonade into two coupe or flute glasses. (I used pre-made pink lemonade from the grocery store. It saved me time and was just as good as if I made it myself.)

Gently add prosecco to the lemonade.

Add Grenadine for additional color and a hint more flavor.

Garnish with fruit such as raspberries or strawberries. I added a few edible viola blooms for color.

elizabeth: you grew up on a farm? that might have been the dream when I was a kid. Tell me what it was like? I grew up rather on a hobby farm, meaning we kept a few pets here and there ha. totally less farm. Favorite jam? See people should have stances on these. I feel like it's important to friendships. Ok I use to hate orange marmalade as a kid but now I kind of adore it. And who doesnt like strawberries with champagne jelly on the daily? You so have a point if you dont have that one thing how can you move forward? There is something about just the odd weekend throwing on a robe and resting in a hotel room even when you have your own place. I love it though your own sentence kept it into perspective, dont make it ordinary always remember it is a luxury.

elizabeth: ohhh youll definitely be in top three I send them too. i think this calls for a lapland bingo card really. every year we can switch back and forth see who can get more of them done.

elizabeth: Yes I got to go to Italy before going back to New York for work. I spent every weekend slipping out to Hamptons. I think I love them both. I know cheat answer but hear me out the Hamptons is the place you slip away to on a weekend and Italy is where you go to really unwind over week. I totally suggest it but if you do it there are a few things you have to do right in doing it. Im more than willing to give guidance on that. So Im taking it Italy is still your favorite?

josh: i'm a simple guy. i grew up on a farm and i've always gravitated towards foods and places that feel familiar. especially since i've been living in america for awhile now. i knew you'd understand. something about fresh jam on a piece of toast is so comforting. do you have a favourite kind? even the most amazing jobs have drawbacks, but i tend to try focusing on the positives. that seems to get me out of bed during days when i'd much rather just stay in bed. oh no, i have a flat in LA. it's not very big or impressive, but since i don't get to spend too much time either, it's perfectly serviceable for now. i do get to stay in some of the best hotels and still one of the greatest luxuries is getting a room service breakfast and being able to eat it in a robe in complete silence. josh: i'm expecting to see all the beautiful snowy christmas photos from lapland next year then. bonus points if they include elf hats and reindeer. josh: how were your trips? did you go to both already? i swear i've lost my sense of time, but we're just going to blame jetlag for all of this. which did you end up liking more? italy has the best food and scenery but the hamptoms seem like a very nice place as well. i don't think i've ever gone but maybe one day soon.
