I love that kevin grieved riko. like, of course, he did. don’t people say that grief is the final form of love? and kevin did love him, I think. he loved him once, before, and he loved him after, still. loved him in a way a kicked dog still loves its owner, because even with face twisted in anger and palms shaking from violence that owner is still the same person that gave it a home once. he grieved him because when someone suddenly becomes undeserving of your love– does it ever leave? that love? or does it grow its own legs and continue to wander this world without regard for the validity of its existence

Okay, wait, let me explain this for a second—

So I think generally Jack and Sally are one of those classic and iconic fictional couples that people and ships are frequently compared to and/or strive to emulate, so this might seem a bit cliche at first glance. However, what if I told you I actually based my Milkshake/Trinkets dynamic primarily off of Jack and Sally personality-wise, especially when it came to developing my headcanon personality for Unparalleled Innocence such that it'd be a good compliment for Pebbles's canon personality?

Specifically, I like the idea that Five Pebbles, like Jack Skellington, is confident, skilled in what he does, a very good speaker with an eloquent vocabulary and style, and a person who, although not passionate about many things, puts his all into whatever endeavor he sets his sights on, even if it means he sometimes gets a bit too enveloped by his ambitions to the point of obsession. Meanwhile Unparalleled Innocence, like Sally, lacks much confidence, yet is equally intellectual and very romantic, a lot more clever and resourceful than she may seem at first glance, good at noticing/appreciating the little things around her, and loves to watch her crush from afar despite being much too shy to interact with him directly. "Sally's Song" is as of now pretty much the best musical explanation/representation of how I interpret her thought process around the time of her spreading the knowledge of Pebbles's rot.

I hope to go more in-depth in my interpretation of these characters and their relationship later, but for now I figured I'd take a break from my chubby Moon exploits to give these two a little love (I may be all for Lilypad, but I won't stop sharing my love for this ship too!) and some cosplay action to harken to this inspiration. Plus, in case I don't have enough time to draw my other Halloween-themed idea for the Local Group before the end of the month, I can at least say I posted this on time!

I don't personally think this is even a particularly hot take, although you might think so judging by how much you see Noldor bias in the Silm fandom, but just hear me out:

Olwë doesn't owe the Noldor and/or Fëanor shit. His refusal to give the ships doesn't mean he doesn't care about his kin in Middle-earth. He has every reason to be suspicious of Fëanor and his company just showing up at Alqualondë, demanding for ships. He is not and never was involved with the unrest of the Noldor and at this point probably has only a vague idea of what has happened. He probably thinks something ought to be done about the attack on the Trees and undoubtedly is sorry for Finwë's death, but is that going to be managed by a crazed Fëanor leading only a small group of Noldor? Yeah, that's weird. If this were a Valar-approved mission, then it would be more orderly, Eönwë or some other high-ranking Maia would be commanding it, and the rest of the Noldor and Vanyar would be there, too. Or, they would not just show up requesting passage - there would be messages and planning and preparations, not angry and heated demands.

Olwë and Teleri were never involved in the Morgoth debacle because Morgoth thought about them as useless, so the atmosphere at Alqualondë would be very different than in Tirion. They are content in their circumstances and are not interested in going back to Middle-earth. They don't want to go on a potentially dangerous journey on a moment's notice, their ships are as precious to them as the Silmarils are to Fëanor, and they probably want to hear what the Valar say about this all. Perhaps they even have concerns about whether their ships can sail all the way to Beleriand.

Look, I like Noldor as much as the next person but not everything is about them.

I was thinking... It seems to me that you mostly like the post-canon character states of Jayce and Viktor? I think you like the more confident and self-aware post-trauma Jayce (when he is present) and the more insecure Viktor, or... As if he has an enormous guilt to overcome.

Ulysses obsession with the Courier is a special type of sad to me cause the Courier’s part was so important but so unwitting. They had no idea what was in the package they delivered and neither did he. Neither had an idea of what it could’ve done and the Courier was only caring out their job (mind you the Courier could be killed via notes in the express contract if they don’t). To them it was just another regular delivery to the divide and one that they likely thought would help, just like all the ones before.

It’s so tragic for Ulysses to hold so much ire to the Courier when it really was the case of it could’ve been anyone. Anyone could have delivered that package but they did and so he focused the blame on them and it destroys what he is trying to instill in the courier on a fundamental level.

the problem with all these white authors like rick riordan who are revealing their stances on the israel-palestine apartheid is that they barely do anything but virtue signal when they claim “i’m on the side against war” “i’m anti-violence” “i abhor terrorism.” zero people are going to disagree with you. zero people believe what hamas did is justified. zero people think israel shouldn’t have a right to defend itself against terrorism. but that isn’t what israel is doing when they collectively punish all of palestine, who doesn’t even have an official army. when rick riordan says some wishy-washy bullshit about the violence suffered on both sides of the conflict, and words his whole dumbass blog post like it’s violence that is in any way equal, that literally helps no one. in fact, it’s so damn negligent of the 75 years of violence that palestine has suffered and been oppressed for. yes, there are innocent civilians in israel who are suffering, no one is disagreeing with you. that doesn’t erase the fact that israel is a disgusting state that has used state-sanctioned violence on a systemic scale since its conception, and the oppressed people have responded to that in violent retaliation (because OBVIOUSLY they would). israel is built on the subjugation of palestine, there is no equal suffering between the two.
