WIP Wednesday

Despite saying that I was temporarily done with Lokius fics until I catch up with other writing projects, I saw Deadpool 3 and it infected me with ONE MORE IDEA. This idea? That Paradox and Brad might actually make a pretty good couple, and why don’t I explore that with a little Lokius on the side? I just started writing this fic, and it begins with a flashback, but I gotta say I’m already enjoying playing with this new dynamic.

Paradox kept his hands in his lap, back ramrod straight, smile small but pleased. He had no desire to show off when Ravonna gave him such open praise. “Paradoxes, as you know, are not common temporal phenomena. It does give my bureau more time to improve our processes where we can.”

Pulling a bottle of sour apple martini from the hidden fridge, Ravonna prepared his drink. She carried his and hers around the curve of the couch and sat opposite him, across the coffee table. Sliding his drink to him, she said, “It’s common enough for the Timekeepers to dedicate a whole department to them.”

“And name one of their employees ‘Paradox’ to begin with,” he said, picking up the martini glass by its delicate stem.

“Destiny,” she said, lifting her glass to her lips. “The Timekeepers created each of us to play unique, vital roles in protecting the Sacred Timeline.”

Paradox nodded and waited until she drank to have his first sip of the tart, fruity drink. She really did indulge him, but then again, he’d earned it, hadn’t he? He worked himself to the bone to ensure his Bureau had a pristine reputation and standing within the TVA.

There was no greater pleasure he found than doing his job, and doing it well—except of course, having his work acknowledged by those above him. Perhaps one day he’d even earn an audience with the Timekeepers. If he ever did, he’d ask them about a promotion. Judge Paradox. That sounded quite nice.

chakotay was a captain originally, he only became a first officer for the good of the maquis crew, and dal may not be captain material yet but you bet your ass he will be at some point, so none of that “janeway and gwyn are the badass ladies and the men (of color) are their ever-patient enablers”
