Whumptober Day 6
@whumptober To whoever finds this, enjoy the angst! <3
Teen & Up - Gen - Teen Wolf
Veritas et Ultio
Stiles rocketed down the stairs, heading towards the door before his grandfather’s voice called his name, sending shivers down his spine. It wasn’t too long ago that he found that voice reassuring, but that was before Scott had turned, and Stiles realized that the values he’d believed were nothing but biased lies.
He turned around and forced a smile on his face. “Hey, Grandpops. I’m just heading out. Got a big school project to do with Danny.”
“Not Scott?” Gerard asked, and Stiles barely concealed a flinch at the knowing tone in the man’s voice.
“Nah, Teach wouldn’t let us choose partners, so…” Stiles nodded, fingers drumming against the strap of his backpack. “Anyway, I gotta go.” He turned back around, only to freeze when a heavy hand landed on his shoulder. He squeezed his eyes shut, pressing his lips together. “Argent business?”
All he got was an acknowledging hum and a quick squeeze to the back of his neck. Stiles sighed, nodding and opening the door to gesture his grandfather through. “Fine, Danny can wait.”
He followed Gerard into a waiting car, cursing himself for not sneaking out instead of using the front door. Two of his distant cousins joined them in the car, and Stiles wondered if their trip had anything to do with the alpha terrorizing Beacon Hills. They arrived at a warehouse downtown, one of the many that the Argents owned and used to cover their underground activities. Stiles followed his grandfather silently into the warehouse and down into the basement before his curiosity became too much. “So, did you find the rogue alpha? What’s this about?”
All he got was a bare-bones smile as Gerard slid open the door to one of the rooms and gestured for him to walk in.
Stiles rolled his eyes at the curated mystery and walked in, freezing as he saw the scene before him.
“I think you already know what this is about,” Gerard said behind him, and Stiles felt like throwing up.
Scott hung on a roughshod metal fence, his face shifted and eyes glowing yellow as a low current of electricity flowed through him. “Scott…”
The werewolf barely had the energy to look up at him, Stiles’ name slurring past his lips before they amplified the electricity, the beta crying out in pain.
“You know how I hate it when you keep secrets from me, Stiles.” Gerard intoned, motioning for his cousins to take Stiles’ backpack. He didn’t fight it; there was no point. Gerard pulled out the bestiary and the medallion Stiles had stolen from their collection. He’d taken it with the intent to teach Scott how to anchor himself. It was a beautiful, handcrafted piece that his aunt Kate had pulled off an omega she killed years ago. It was molded with the face split in three parts, one depicting the sun, another the moon, and on the uppermost part, the Latin word for truth. Veritas. It looked jarringly out of place in Gerard’s hand.
“You really think you could take this without my noticing?” Gerard asked, and Stiles grit his teeth together, glaring at Gerard as he placed the items back into the backpack and tossed it aside like it was inconsequential. “You have greatly disappointed me, Stiles.”
Stiles flinched, just a little, at the words. Growing up, disappointing the family was something he hated doing. He wanted to prove himself so badly as an Argent that he had started training at a young age before they even told him of the family business. Because Stiles was clever and tenacious, and he knew things like how to eavesdrop without getting caught. It stung when he and Allison were finally told and trained, and she picked everything up so much faster than he did. It didn’t matter anymore, not with his loyalties residing with Scott, not with Allison standing to the side and watching with no guilt on her face, but that didn’t negate the conditioning of his upbringing that left him with a need to prove himself to the man.
Gerard grinned at the way he flinched, and his hand came to rest on Stiles’ shoulder again, propelling him further into the room, over to the table where the electric device sat. “I may be disappointed, Stiles. But it isn’t too late for you to prove yourself. All you have to do is kill him.”
Stiles’ eyes widened as Gerard set a gun down on the table in front of him, no doubt loaded with wolfsbane bullets. He felt sick, his stomach doing flips. He should have never asked Scott to go with him to find that dead body. He should have been the one who got bitten. It would have been so much easier. Stiles would have had no qualms about killing himself to protect his family, but now… Scott had already proven that all werewolves weren’t bad when he tried to save that bus driver. He couldn’t kill Scott. He just couldn’t. He closed his eyes, remembering the words he’d once heard his father say while Stiles eavesdropped. Back before Chris died, when Stiles was still so young.
“We hunt those that hunt us.”
“No,” Stiles said, shaking his head. “I won’t do it.”
Gerard’s face hardened like stone, his grip on Stiles’ shoulder tightening painfully. “You better rethink that answer, boy.”
Stiles curled his hands into fists, shaking his head again. “You can threaten to kill me, but I still won’t do it. You’ll never make me.” He looked up into his grandfather’s eyes. “I won’t become the monster that you have.”
Gerard’s face twisted in disgust, and he shoved him away into the hands of his cousins, who gripped his arms tight and pulled them behind his back. “You think I’m the monster?!” Gerard raged. “Everything we do is to protect the world from monsters like this!” He pointed at Scott, who looked nothing like a monster with the pain and fear written on his face. “They’re the ones that hurt people. They’re unnatural, sadistic beings who want nothing more than to kill us!”
“That’s not true, and you know it! Scott has never hurt anybody!” Stiles yelled, fighting against the harsh grips on his arms. “Dad said our code was to hunt those that hunt us!” He shouted, seeing Allison flinch out of the corner of his eye. “You broke that code years ago! You don’t want to protect anyone. All you want is power, you greedy hypocrite!”
“Enough!” Gerard motioned to one of his cousins, and a meaty hand slapped over Stiles’ mouth. “Allison!” He barked, sure to have seen her flinch earlier and eager to reinstate his authority. “Kill the beast.”
Stiles screamed behind the hand covering his mouth, trying to protest as his sister stepped up and raised her crossbow. She glanced his way only once, and Stiles closed his eyes in defeat at the look of hate she shot him. He couldn’t watch this.
A hand gripped his head, fingers pulling his eyelids open and forcing him to watch as Allison steadied her arm. Scott roared in betrayal, eyes glowing, and the arrow flew. It lodged itself right in Scott’s heart. The roar died out, and Stiles screamed, tears flowing as Scott’s head dropped and his body hung limply on the fence.
The men holding onto him shoved him to the ground as Gerard congratulated Allison on her first kill. Stiles stared at Scott’s body, tears welling in his eyes as the rest of the hunters slowly left the room, sneering as they passed him.
Only Gerard paused in the doorway, his voice grave as he spoke. “You’ll learn from this lesson, Stiles. You might not realize it now, but Allison saved your life by killing that beast.”
His footsteps faded away with the rest, and Stiles slowly got up, lifting his best friend’s body off the fence and lowering him to the ground, cradling him in his arms. “Scott-” He sobbed, holding Scott’s face and pressing their foreheads together. “I’m sorry.” He whimpered, tears dripping down onto Scott’s face. “I’m so sorry. It should’ve been me.” His eyes squeezed shut, and he wept openly with guilt.
     “It should have been me.”

TW: mention of CSA!!
Okay, so a Teen Wolf AU idea...
Teenage!Derek Hale-- HEAR ME OUT:
Remember when he was a teenager again during that one episode? I don't know a whole lot of stuff about TW, actually, because I consume most of my information about the show through fandom spaces, but iykyk--
ANYWAYS, make Derek a teenager throughout the whole series.
He could still be a teacher to Scott since he was born as a Werewolf and has more knowledge than him. He could still be introduced the same way, and his family dying can be pretty much the same, but the part of his story that I would change is his "relationship" with Kate Argent.
In Canon, when Derek was 15/16, Kate took advantage of his grief and groomed Derek into a sexual and romantic relationship with her in order to get more information out of him. In my AU, the grooming happened when he was 13, so two years ago, as of S1, and when he sees her again, he has a hard time processing all of it, because he would absolutely bottle that up. Kate would probably try to manipulate him again, and it would be a whole arc of Derek being able to stand up against his abuser, because I need that part of his story to be addressed more by the masses. Also, I want to give Kate Argent a very gruesome and painful death. Fuck predators!
Also, what if Coach took Derek in?? Hmm? Just think about it...
And, if you're a fan of Sterek, it's a much more age appropriate ship now! Bc instead of it being a 22/23 yr old with a 15/16 yr old, it's two 15/16 yr olds!
I'll plan to write a fic of this, and if you wanna write a fic about this AU, tag me in it so I can read it!!

Guess who's writing her second Neckz 'n Throats fic? This time, newbie Stiles who fills in for his roommate Kira when she has to cancel a shoot last minute.
For the full fic, watch out for The Fox and the Wolf coming to an AO3 near you. But for now, a tiny sneak peek ;)
--
“I am so sorry I’m late, but I also only learned that I should be here like forty-five minutes ago so honestly, fifteen minutes late is half a miralce. I may have broken several traffic laws.”
Peter was not the only one to stare at the rambling boy. He was… not what Peter had expected from the ‘barista roommate’ replacement that Kira had spoken of. He was pretty to look at, that much was a relief. The pale skin would do for marvelous markings. The moles dotting the side of his face were enchanting marks of their own. His hair was already messy like someone (probably the boy himself) had run his fingers through it repeatedly. Good for tugging, it would look splendid with clawed fingers curled in it. He was lanky, long limbs and slender build. A twink, to put it bluntly. Which was its own appeal, but it made Peter want to pair him off with someone else instead of Malia, who was supposed to shoot this at her girlfriend and mate-to-be’s side. Boyd might pair well with him. Mh, Jackson’s arrogance would also pair well, put the boy on his knees for the wolf.
Peter was startled when he felt his inner wolf growl and protest the notion, as soon as a delicious and tantalizing scent of sweet honey, dangerous lightning and ink-stained books hit his nose, making want flare up in him. The boy should be on his knees for Peter, bare that pretty, pale stretch of throat for the Alpha, submit to him readily and willingly, beg for—
“You must be Stiles,” Chris spoke with a friendly smile, motioning for the boy to join them. “I’d like to say we heard a lot of you, but all of this is very last minute…”
“Well, I heard a lot about you, so that makes up for it on my end,” Stiles grinned broadly and shook Chris’ hand. “Christopher Argent, though your reputation preceded you even beyond what Kira gushes about. You are brilliant, I mean, holy shit, what you do with a camera is straight-up magic.”
Peter’s wolf rumbled pleased and settled down some, his earlier agitation also dispersing at the sound of praise being heaped upon his mate. Yes, good. His Christopher deserved all the good words there were, because he indeed was brilliant and too few people recognized that. There were so many who thought photography was just about ‘clicking a button’ and Peter had threatened bodily harm on that matter on multiple occasions already (much to Chris’ embarrassment).

Inspired by an episode of "The Big Bang Theory" and staying with the theme of my new Thiam-Sterek Fanfic "Fall In Love With A Kiss" coming soon to Ao3
(In my new Thiam there will be no existential, suffering drama of Theo alone where everyone hates him!)
I INTRODUCE YOU....
Tumblr media
Lydia has been Theo's best friend since they were seven years old! Ah their discussions about how stupid Stiles was filled their days, along with movie nights (horror movies of course!) and secrets!
Tumblr media
Theo met Allison in high school because she started dating Scott. It was really a troubled affair between Scott and Allison, they were on and off for quite some time and Theo didn't know who to listen to! Scott was stupid and just screwed up, and Theo felt sorry for Allison!
Tumblr media
Malia met her in junior year when she moved out and started dating Stiles (definitely bad breakup apparently!) but still they hated each other especially because Theo always stays at her house! (Peter's fault of course!)
Tumblr media
For Theo, Kira is so innocent that she doesn't know why she is his friend! She was an ex of Scott's but their affair had lasted only a year and then Kira got a crush on Malia but she was still dating Stiles... Luckily, Theo's policy was "Never have romantic relationships with your friends, you always get in trouble!"!!'
Theo has endured too many conversations about his friends' sizes and how they have sex to say with certainty that this rule has actually saved him a lot of trouble! (Theo would never admit it, but he has been head over heels in love with the same person for two years, without having had any other romantic relationships)
Tumblr media
"Theo Raeken's ✨Council Of Ladies✨" meets every Thursday night!
A cup of tea, a fancy dress, lots of pastries and a big white cloth and a projector!
Bridgerton awaits them!

Today's useless teen wolf AU is everything is essentially the same except they live in Louisiana instead of California.
Stiles' dad is the sheriff of their parish, somewhere inoffensively middle-north like Rapides so they're surrounded by the national forest and still close to the Red River. It's a perfect place to hide a giant magic tree, for the record, and the bayou is no place for two teenagers to go stumbling around looking for a dead body. Best case you find it before the gators find you; worst case, your best friend gets his ass chomped by a rougarou.
Everyone knows the legends - the stories older siblings tell you with a lot less warning than your grandmother ever did - but they're just stories, right?
Except now that Stiles is really paying attention, there's way weirder stuff in the medicine cabinets at the vet clinic than you'd really need for dogs and cats and the bright blue paint on the outside of the building might be more than just an aesthetic choice for the doctor who always seems to know more than he's willing to tell.
When a family comes to town with their pretty daughter and French last name, Scott's already head-over-heels before Stiles can point out that there's bigger fish to fry. Lydia Martin is hosting the annual crawfish boil at her family's manor ("for charity," like they don't have their hands dirty from running a chain of river-boat casinos on the Red) and Scott needs to get his new claws in check if he's wants to steer clear of Argent. The hunter's been asking around in quick, clipped creole about all the recent rumors of black panther sightings, but Stiles knows that's not what he's really asking.
When the kanima starts wreaking on the town, Deaton sends Stiles to the graveyard to fetch a bag of dirt from his own mother's grave. He promises it will protect them and keep the kanima from escaping the rave, but only after Stiles accuses him of trying to use Claudia's memory in a curse. It works, but nothing else does, and Stiles has to break the line of goofer dust to let Isaac and Erica escape. He's definitely remembering that for the future.

Teen wolf fans, I have a vision/fanfic Idea.
Alright, so one of my old posts mentioned a time travel fic.
So my idea is that both the McCall and the Hale pack (+Peter, maybe) both get transported in the past to when their parents were teenagers.
In this timeline, they have to blend in and get help from the past Hale pack to get back to their original timeline.
But in the past, both packs learn something about their own families.
Stiles and Derek learn that both their mothers loved each other like sisters and that Stiles's moms family has been allies with the Hales for a very long time.
The Gajos family is also very magical (yes, I'm in love with magic! Stiles) and they have been the protectors of Beacon Hills with spark magic running through their veins, and they have also been emissaries to the Hale pack since forever.
Stiles learns about his mother's side of the family and sees how both his parents met in high school, which was Claudia making the first move, and Derek gets to see his family and his parents fall in love. Stiles also learns that Peter had a major crush on his own mother when he was a kid since Claudia was not just Talia's best friend and future emissary but also his babysitter, which Peter was not proud to admit.
Stiles also learns where he gets his attention span, adhd, and toughness from. Because young Claudia was definitely a force of nature, especially with her car Roscoe.
Stiles and Scott also learn that both their dad's actually knew each other, and Stiles' dad Noah was actually Rafael McCall's bestfriend and wingman for Scott's mother Melissa Delgado, whom they also knew in highschool. Stiles also learns that his dad was very socially awkward but extremely sarcastic and clumsy and will trip over air but give a non-serious answer. Stiles also learns how bad his dad Noah's relationship was with his own father. But Stiles is always eternally grateful that his mother made the first move.
Lydia also learns that her grandmother had a decent understanding of the supernatural and her banshee abilities.
Stiles also learns the reason why Claudia left the supernatural life and gave her position as emissary to Alan Deaton, which was to be with his dad. But that never stopped Talia from always seeking her council, emissary or not, Talia and the Hales always saw Claudia as family. Including Peter, and even though he will never admit it, Claudia was and still is his first love, and he was more than happy to have a piece of her within Stiles.
Stiles and Derek also get to see both their mothers being a bad@$$ duo against hunters and many other supernatural beings. Including them being powerful political leaders trying to keep the peace in Beacon hills and for everyone, including negotiating with the Argents and going to war w/ Gerard Argent. Also, I have no doubt that Peter and Noah were the only ones falling for Claudia's charms.
All I got for rn. ALSO, IF THIS FANFIC EXISTS, PLEASE SEND A LINK!!! AND IF NOT PLEASE! SOMEONE CREATE IT!!!!!
Also, let me know what you guys think.

Hi! I’ve stumbled across your different teen wolf fics and I must say they are absolutely delightful reads!!! Just finished WDNG and it was an experience, honestly did not know I needed bobby finstock to be the parent who stepped up but damn! So so so good 👌🏼 I also noticed you had artwork in the fic but for some reason I could not view it at all, is there any way I could see the pretty art some other way? I feel like it would be a shame to miss it. Hope you are doing good, and enjoying life!
Hi!! I am so sorry it took me so long to answer this-- I started digging around for an art post but apparently I didn't make one? Or maybe it was taken down for some reason, Tumblr does weird things sometimes--
I'll post the art here and maybe make a proper art post later! But yeah I was so sad the art links broke in so many of my fics :( Thanks for reaching out and yes, I didn't know I wanted Bobby to be a parent but here we areee.
All these art pieces are by @eklixio who is a fabulous human being and captured these characters and their essence so perfectly.

Chapters: 3/? Fandom: Teen Wolf (TV) Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski, Derek Hale & Stiles Stilinski, Allison Argent/Scott McCall, Scott McCall & Stiles Stilinski Characters: Stiles Stilinski, Derek Hale, Scott McCall (Teen Wolf), Allison Argent, Sheriff Stilinski (Teen Wolf)
Summary:
Many genies are cruel. Twisted. Bastards, even. They laugh at the misery of others. They revel in it.
Few are decent. Neutral. They just heed the words of the wish-maker, grant it, and then they're gone. Sometimes the wishes are good. Sometimes the wishes turn out horrible. But they’re never around long enough to find out. Maybe that’s a gift. Maybe it’s a curse. No one can really know for sure.
And then, there are the rare ones. The ones that were never really meant to exist. The ones that are kind.
They take the time to listen. To observe. To really take in all the events going around the wish-maker, both past and present. And what makes them the scariest of all genies… They’re the only ones that can ignore. They can ignore wishes, big or small. And there are no records to their limits. How many times they can ignore. How many wishes they can grant.
The most mysterious. The most powerful. The most scary genies. They are known as the kindest you will ever find.
- OR -
The one where Stiles accidentally makes a wish to a genie and shenanigans ensue.
Author’s Note:
I know I’m extremely late to the Teen Wolf fandom, but TikTok lead me to Sterek (because the algorithm knows me too well) and then to tons of fanfics (mostly on AO3)
Just a fair warning before you read! I have EXTREMELY limited knowledge on Teen Wolf. I'm taking BunnyFacey's (TikTok) wise words to heart: "PSA if you read Sterek fanfiction but you haven't watched Teen Wolf, don't watch Teen Wolf." I know I should watch it, especially if I end up writing about it, but I can't bring myself to start... I just want Stiles and Derek to be happy! To have a bit of danger mixed into their lives, with some angst and fluff for a bit of flavor, but nothing too tragic! My heart can't take it T-T

HOW I WOULD REWRITE THE TEEN WOLF MOVIE
First of all its a slice of life comedy
No villain just normal problems, but maybe background Monroe issues
Each character has a running gag or a funny arc
Scott:
Runs his own veterinary business but accidentally placed his building in a place with primary cat people. He can not treat cats because they go crazy around him (he tells the humans he's allergic to cats). So the whole movie is him talking to real estate agents about buying a new building and selling his current one. The process is painfully slow. (but the new place is in beacon hills were this all takes place)
Kira:
Is still not in the movie but a bit after 6b she came back from the skinwalkers and she and scott get married. During the movie she's actually having a girls weekend with the skinwalkers because they became good friends
Lydia:
She and Stiles have twins (like 10 years old or something) and a newborn baby. Stiles convinces Lydia to take a break cause she's so stressed and to go visit their friends (so thats why shes in bh) during the movie she'll be having a conversation interrupts by taking a phone call. Its the twins' school. She is the leader of the PTA. This happens multiple times throughout the movie. (minor detail of her being super successful, getting that feilds medal, and being like the second Stephen Hawkins basically)
Stiles:
Is at home taking care of the newborn, we cant hear his voice but Lydia talks to him on the phone.
Jackson:
Is just constantly hanging out with lydia the entire movie, her sidekick, her goon
Malia:
Life way more put together than in the real movie. She works as like a camp ranger nature person or whatever, has weekly dinner with Mr. Tate, and is overall living her best life. Shes currently single but like every guy her age in beacon hills is trying to get with her. Shes also internet famous. She has simps. She lives in beacon hills but has traveled to a few different countries, including france
Parish:
Is no longer a cop because he found his true calling in modeling
Sheriff:
Retired and tired. Lydia is staying with him during her visit. He's just really happy about being a grandfather
Derek:
Same basically, a cool dad, so similar to tyler heclens (idk sp) portrayal of clark kent that a joke about that is made
The scene where he talks to coach is there so that coach can not recognize him and then derek is like "oh sorry, how about now?" (he walked into the corner of the room, clenched his fists at his side, and started glaring like he was about to kill someone) and coach is like omg yeah i remember you, hows it been?
Also he is married to braeden and she is elis step mom
ALSO he has 11 kids including eli, he is tom baker cheaper by the dozen.
Eli:
Stiles' biggest fan, just like that one post✊ (i saw a post about that being why hes like stiles and it annoying derek and its one of the funniest things ever, i dont remeber the poster sorry) calls all of the original pack uncle or aunt. He and Malia besties. His arc is he has a boyfriend or girlfriend and is trying desperately for no one to find out because they all babysitted him and are notorious for telling embarassing baby stories to his friends and previous partners. He's the oldest sibling.
Chris:
Literally just chilling, planning a tropical vacation, is married to Melissa
Melissa:
Still works at hospital, overly mushy with chris, especially in front of peter
Peter:
Same as usual but 10x more dramatic. Lives on Melissa's coach. Theres a few random times in the movie hes being interviewed like hes in the office. He's the only one that this happens with.
Issac:
Only speaks in french, but there are subtitles for the audience. Only speaks English to Chris even though Chris knows french. Malia and him are friends from when she visited france.
Liam:
Professional lacrosse player, is in the lacrosse nfl (i have no idea if thats a thing) hangs out with mason and on his off time he leads an anger management class
Mason:
Politician, the only thing stopping him from being president is his age. Corey uses his powers to steal incriminating evidence against masons evil political opponents. They are married.
Theo:
He's a trailer life vlogger, very successful online. Regularly hits up scott and liam for no particular reason (its because hes lonely) its never mentioned but there's a brief shot of his trailer and on one of the walls there's a picture of the pack with a picture of theo tapped to it. And/or just a picture of stiles* Bonus points for hearts.
He goes to liams class as a demonstration on how not to beat someone up when you're angry (liam and theo usually end up fighting anyway)
Allison:
Either not in it or inexplicably alive. No mention as of how or why or when she came back. At one point there is a very clear reference to her death so the audience knows it wasn't reconned or something
OR ( my sister's idea) Chris Ouija boards her every friday night and they chat
Deaton:
Just doing completely unrelated shady shit, which all ends up being something super anti-climatic
This is my vision
*to clarify, i dont ship them, its just that how obsessed theo was with void stiles lives rent free in my head

isn’t it weird how Teen Wolf brushed over the fact that Derek was basically groomed ??
like, they don’t ever mention that Derek was like 16 (??) and Kate was an adult (i think she’s supposed to be in her 20s) 😭

“What does it mean?” Isaac asked, turning to look at Derek even as he interrupted Stiles. “Why are they blue?” “You had blue eyes,” Scott added. “Before, I mean. Before you became an Alpha.” “The color of a werewolf’s eyes depends on… certain choices that they make,” Derek finally answered. He spoke slowly, as if he were considering his words carefully. “Red is the sign of an Alpha, and most Betas have gold eyes.” “... And what about blue eyes?” Stiles prompted after a few moments in silence. “If a shifter has blue eyes, it means they’ve taken the life of an innocent.”

Heart of the Ocean 💙 | Teen Wolf Miniseries Part 1
Takes place in between 3A & 3B of Teen Wolf
Tumblr media
Teen Wolf Masterlist | part 2
Characters & Pairings: Hale/McCall Pack x supernatural!reader (female/platonic), eventual Peter Hale x reader (romantic), reader x male!oc ( past romance) & reader x supernatural!reader (platonic). Characters in this imagine: Scott McCall, Stiles Stilinski, Lydia Martin, Allison Argent, Isaac Lahey, Derek Hale, Peter Hale.
Content Warnings: light angst, profanity, references of historical event disaster, mentions of death, blood, murder | afab!reader (she/her pronouns) | wc: 3.1k
Requested 📨 yes/no (rules for requests)
Premise: Suspicious deaths were a common occurrence in Beacon Hills—especially after things seem to be actually looking good when a previous problem is fixed. Now Scott and the pack are having to investigate a string of murders happening that not only reek of supernatural, but linked to an renowned event they’ve learned in history class.
Note: I’m hyperfixating on Titanic as of late so I have a lot of ideas involving AU’s and retelling with various fandoms. I just did a TGM au with Bradley Bradshaw and currently have a Twilight one in the works so expect a lot of Titanic in my works when I’m not writing requests.
————————————
Riddles were a tricky little thing. And when used in a malevolent way where to find the answer to a solution one must crack the code, riddles can become a person’s worst enemy.
And the one laying on the table of Derek’s loft was becoming their enemy.
Murders, which was becoming a common occurrence lately in Beacon Hills, were happening where the people were nearly drained of their blood by cutting their throats and wrists before letting them hang upside down. Stiles' father was overwhelmed with stress. Not to mention he was having to come to terms with the reality his town was a beating heart for supernatural creatures. Like how his sons best friend since childhood was a fucking werewolf.
And while it was presumed a human serial killer was responsible for the murders, the pack had an inkling it was more sinister. Investigating on their own they found more suspicious reasons to believe it was supernatural.
Only problem, they had no clue who or what it was.
They were all gathered over the table—save for Peter who was nestled on the couch. Stiles was rubbing a thumb over his lip, becoming frustrated as he was usually on top of solving riddles. Lydia was beside him, deep in thought as she read over the paper silently.
“He just left this here?” Scott glanced at Derek, who was standing with his arms crossed on the opposite side of the table.
“Right outside the door. Like he wanted us to find it.”
“And you heard nothing?” Stiles’ question earned him a glare. “Super hearing and you didn’t hear someone stabbing a piece of paper into your front door?”
“If I did you think I would’ve let him leave the damn note?” Derek spoke harshly.
“Riddle.”
“—knowing all it is is a distraction so he can kill more people.”
“It’s not just a distraction,” Allison interrupted the two bickering, staring hard at the note. “It’s an order. He’s asking us to find someone.”
“Yeah,” Isaac scoffed, “who we have no idea is.”
“Read it again,” Scott sighed, running a hand through his hair. With a huff, Stiles took the paper in his hands, clearing his throat before reading aloud for all to hear.
Have you figured it out yet?
Were my clues not enough?
You’re thinking too hard now,
Let me show you it’s not so tough.
Our faces the same,
As they were the day we changed.
Only the eyes no longer its color,
A price for the exchange.
You’ll find it almost disheartening,
When you learn of what we do.
Our nature is uncanny,
But it’s not so far from you.
Find the one I’m looking for,
And I’ll stop the chaos and the pain.
Are you ready?
Here’s your hint.
Time is of the essence,
So you better make it quick.
Wearing the Heart of the Ocean,
She’s closer than it seems.
For I seek the one I turned,
Who was on the Ship of Dreams.
Silence fills the loft, everyone thinking hard of what it could mean. There were so many clues but so vague it was difficult to puzzle them together.
“Well we know it’s someone supernatural,” Isaac hummed, attempting to lighten the situation.
“Yeah we got that genius,” Peter muttered.
“And he’s looking for a woman,” Allison added, ignoring Peter’s sarcasm. “Someone he turned. And was on a ship?” It comes out more like a question, “that could mean a lot of things.”
“Could it be a werewolf?” Scott turned to Derek
The man shook his head, “I don’t think so.”
“But the thing about the eyes—.”
“Many shapeshifters' eyes are like ours. That doesn’t mean it’s a wolf. Plus he said they’re not wolves.”
“How do you know?”
Derek rolls his eyes as though it were obvious, “he wrote, ‘our nature is uncanny, but it’s not so far from you,’. If they were wolves he would’ve said so.”
“Maybe another Kanima?” Allison suggested, “the master looking for his puppet?”
Stiles cuts in, narrowing his eyes on the last verse, “Why would he bold the first and last line of the last clue—these ones,” he places the paper flat on the table. Lydia, the closest to him, leans in as his finger points to the verse. “Heart of the Ocean and the—.”
“Ship of Dreams,” she finishes, voice going low as realization hits her. All eyes turn to her, confusion in their gaze until the name leaves her lips. “Titanic.”
“What?” The question came from Scott, but all were thinking the same. There’s no way she was talking about the most famous shipwreck in history.
“Titanic,” Lydia repeated, this time more confidently. Her own finger came up to point where Stiles' finger had been. “They used to call it the Ship of Dreams.”
“Titanic?” Isaac’s tone was full of doubt. “You mean the ship that sank a century ago?” He couldn’t help but add, “And the movie Leonardo DiCaprio dies in.”
She rolls her eyes, “I don’t recall any other having the same name.”
“The anniversary is coming up,” Derek starts to say, deep in thought like it was all coming together. “It would make sense.”
“Wait—hold on,” Stiles lifts a dramatic hand. “We’re talking about THE Titanic—like Isaac said—that sank a hundred years ago. A hundred,” he repeats to show his point. “Anyone who is alive—even if they were a werewolf or shapeshifter or whatever the hell you want to call it,” he glances at each of them, “would pretty much be on their last breath of life. If this woman were a newborn baby at the time she’d be at least one hundred years old by now.”
In the debate none had noticed Peter moved from the couch to the window. The chuckle leaving his mouth caught their attention. Stiles makes a sound, “I’m sorry, do you wanna share with the class what you obviously know that we’re missing?”
“Our faces are the same,” he says the opening line of the second verse, only drawing confusion and annoyed looks from the others. “As they were the day we changed.” The man pauses, letting it sink in before continuing, “If the woman he’s looking for was on Titanic then she likely was an adult. Considering he turned her, probably by saving her from freezing to death or drowning, and she wears the same face she did the night she was turned…” Peter steps away from the window, now facing the group.
“She’s not aging. At all. Meaning…..she’s immortal.”
The silence following his confession is eerie, eyes flicking over each other to see if they were reacting the same. Immortal. Though the term was familiar it felt almost foreign. Never had they dealt with someone immortal. Unable to die and was walking the Earth acting as though they were human. Now Beacon Hills had two in its possession. They needed to work fast and the riddle only had pieces of the puzzles.
So who—or more like what, was immortal?
"What are you getting to?” Scott narrowed his eyes, Wanting a straightforward answer to what they were dealing with.
Peter clasps his hands behind his back, slowly inching forward,” It’s not shapeshifters you’re looking for.” He takes a step closer, “or a Kanima and its master.” Another step, “or a dark Druid.” Another step brings him right next to Derek, eyes flicking to the paper. “There are few creatures blessed with immortality—or cursed if you look at it another way. But most of them are born with it. Take Gods and fairies for example.”
“Oh my God—those exist?” Stiles feels his mind implode, “Are we about to fight Gods?”
“No,” annoyed at being interrupted Peter rolled his eyes. “I just said those are immortals that are born with their powers. And I don’t know if they exist, I’ve haven’t met one yet. Anyway, this one—.” His finger touches the riddle, “was turned. And likely the person who did was too.”
“So what is it then,” Scott was becoming impatient. And who could blame him really. For all they know it someone was already being drained of their blood at that very moment. “What’s the immortal that’s turned not born?”
“Come one,” he scoffs, like he couldn’t believe they hadn’t figured it out. “Ever wonder why the victims were drained of their blood?” The one question had everyone's face become colorless. “Has Stiles's father not caught on the wounds were made after they were dead?” Why their throat was slashed….but had two little puncture holes on either side?” Peter glances around at every person, catching the nervousness of their gaze as though they already knew what he was about to say but wished it wasn’t.
“The creatures you’re looking for…..are vampires.”
The rest of the night the pack was gathering as much information as they could about the passengers aboard Titanic—all 2,240 of them—while also trying to figure out any other clues within the riddle. They still couldn’t believe it was a vampire responsible for the murders. And that he was hunting someone he created who, still to their shock, was a passenger aboard Titanic.
And with 2,240 people on the ship during its ill fated maiden voyage…they were in for a long night.
“Okay so we know they’re vampires—our killer is the one who turned the woman he’s searching for into a vampire. She was on Titanic when it sank meaning—,” Stiles wrote furiously across the notepad, the riddle next right beside it. “He was on it too. Now we could narrow this down several ways. Either by searching through the passengers class or going through who survived because as Lydia pointed out,” the hand holding the pen points to the redhead, “RMS Carpathia recorded the names of the survivors before they reached New York.”
Either method was good, but there was a problem with the latter. As Allison pointed out, “but what if they never knew she was there? I mean having a newly turned vampire on a ship filled with people is a recipe for disaster.”
Derek nods, agreeing with her, “Her eyes would’ve made it obvious.”
“How so?” Asked Isaac.
Peter is the one to explain, “Vampires in our world are different from what you see on TV. They aren’t these pale, corpse-like, individuals who look like they belong in the morgue. They’re rather human-like if they’re equipped with a special glimmer that allows them to come off as mortal.”
“Glimmer?” Lydia raised a brow, finding the word a bit comical given the creature they were dealing with.
“We’ll get to that. But any vampire who’s newly turned will have red eyes—blood red eyes.”
“How fitting,” Stiles couldn’t help but groan. “So what, are you saying she’s likely wearing contacts to hide her eyes.”
“Possibly,” Peter hums with a shrug, “wouldn’t be surprised if she is. This day in age makes it easier for vampires to conceal their nature. But considering our little vampire was turned in 1912…her creator probably hid her on the Carpathia—or as outrageous as it sounds, swam her across the remainder of the Atlantic ocean.”
Derek closes the book in front of him, detailing the events of the RMS Carpathia rescue of Titanic’s passengers. “However he saved her can wait,” he leans his hands onto the table, “We need to figure out the last clue of this riddle.” Moving the riddle to him, Derek reads, “Wearing the Heart of the Ocean, she’s closer than it seems.”
Lydia bites her lip, typing away on her laptop. “If I didn’t know it any better…it sounds like he’s trying to reference a piece of jewelry. Probably a necklace or something.”
Peter rubs his jaw deep in thought, “That could be the source of her glimmer.”
“The necklace?” Stiles wonders aloud.
“Usually most vampires would prefer a ring or bracelet,” he waves a hand, “It’s small and concealable. Very easy for a Druid to enchant the item and allow the vampire to give off the effect to other supernatural beings they’re human. Prevents them from being obliterated by the sun. That’s their glimmer. Sealed within the jewelry to act as a camouflage. So long as they have it on,” he shrugs lightly, “you’d never know what they truly are.”
“And she’s been passing off as a human in Beacon Hills. For God knows how long,” Lydia opens a separate browser, hands hovering over the keyboard. “If her necklace has a name like Heart of the Ocean it shouldn’t be too hard to find. We find the Heart of the Ocean, we find her.” Her words have Allison come over beside her, realization crossing her face.
“Isn’t that the name of the necklace Rose wore in the movie?” Right as she finished her sentence, the image popped up on the screen of said necklace after Lydia typed the name into Google. “So it was real after all?”
“Appears to be,” Lydia was just as amazed. Stiles leans over her other side, eyes bulging at the sight of the large blue heart-shaped diamond surrounded by tiny little white ones.
“That’s gotta be worth a billion dollars.”
“350 million to be exact,” Lydia reads off. “At least today it is. Back then it was worth probably not even a quarter of that price—but still big for its time.”
“So…” Isaac taps his finger to his mouth, glaring up at the ceiling from where he was seated, legs perched on the table. “We’re looking for a vampire—probably at least 120 give or take a few years—who is passing off as human because of a magic necklace worth more than our entire lives. Wonderful.”
Scott takes a glance, letting out a whistle, “That had to have belonged to a first-class passenger. I’d say we start there.”
“On it,” Lydia begins to search records of the names aboard Titanic with First-class tickets. While she’s doing that the pack gathers to the makeshift board Stiles had created, adding notes to it as they go.
Stiles tapes the new information on the necklace to next to the verse on the copy of the riddle they made. “Heart of the Ocean a.k.a the magic necklace making the vampire appear human. To be honest, if someone were wearing a necklace that extravagant in Beacon Hills it’d be noticeable.”
Scott agreed, “She’s probably keeping it under her clothes. I mean I would. Lydia, did you find anything on who it belonged to?”
The redhead makes a huff, “from what the article says,” she clicks on a link, “it belonged to American socialite Y/n L/n as a gift from her husband Theodore Ford on their wedding day. He had it custom made overseas on a trip to France.” Lydia’s eyes widened at the next line, “She was the niece of John Rockefeller and he was the nephew of Henry Ford.”
“Good God,” Stiles made a sound, many of the others showing a similar reaction. “What a match made in heaven…and money.”
“Great,” Peter plops onto the couch, “our vampire was a once billionaire socialite—well maybe not billionaire. That’s a far reach. Since she was only the niece of Rockefeller and her hubby was a Ford she probably only had a snippet of their families fortune.” The man rolls his neck, hands clasped on his lap with his legs kicked up. “She shouldn’t be too hard to find then. All we need is a picture.”
Derek gives his uncle an annoyed look, “We don’t if it’s her or not. Maybe the necklace was stolen by her creator and that’s how she got it.”
“What else does it say?” Allison turns her attention back to her best friend. In her head she couldn’t help but feel there was something missing. That they were so close to the answer.
Lydia continues on, “It says here that they married in 1901–Y/n aged nineteen and Theodore aged twenty-one. They had a son, Benjamin, born 1905 and Theodore died six years later in 1911 from a car accident.” She scrolls down a bit, brows furrowing a tad and makes a sound of ‘eureka!’ “Y/n was gifted two First-Class tickets for her and her son aboard Titanic by her uncle John Rockefeller. They boarded the ship during Titanic’s first stop to Cherbough, France….survivors of Titanic recall last seeing Y/n place her son Benjamin into a lifeboat before being denied entry since it had reached maximum capacity,” a feeling of heartbreak fills the redhead, soon followed by defeat as she reads “It is believed Y/n L/n drowned as the ship submerged beneath the surface on April 15, 1912, as her body was never recovered as one to have perished from hypothermia in the freezing waters. Nor was she listed on the records of survivors on RMS Carpathia. Her son Benjamin was soon taken in by her mother where he remained in New York City until his sudden death in 1918 by influenza.”
A moment of silence passes as they take in the information. For Allison and Lydia, they couldn’t help the sadness for the woman they didn’t even know. To have to say goodbye to your child, likely promising them you’d get on the next boat and would be reunited shortly, only to never see them again.
The redhead suddenly straightens her posture.
“What is it?” Scott hears her heartbeat quicken. Worry takes his features when Lydia appears as if she saw a ghost. Everyone else looks the same when she brings a hand to her mouth. “Lydia?” There’s a slight tremor in her hand when she pulls it away.
“She’s closer than it seems.” She whispers the line from the final verse. Tone filled with near distraught.
Allison takes a hesitant step forward. From where they were all standing they could also see the light of the screen hitting Lydia’s complexion. Whatever was on it was hidden from their view. “Lydia…”
“I-I thought it meant that by finding the Heart of the Ocean we’d be able to spot whoever was wearing it. That we’d have to maybe knock on every door in Beacon Hills until we find whoever is hiding it—as stupid as that sounds. Because who in their right mind if they knew they were being hunted would just hide in plain sight? But….” her breath picks up, slight horror and astonishment as she stares back at the screen. “He knows where she is—h-he wants us to find her, because she can lead us to him.”
“Lydia….” Stiles slowly draws closer to her. Peter moves to stand from the couch, expression unreadable as was Derek’s.
But Lydia’s eyes never move from the screen. “The riddle—it was just his game. He knows exactly where she is. He has to. Because she’s been under our nose all along—closer than we could’ve imagined.” Finally the redhead looks up to the anxious eyes of everyone, revealing the shocking truth with the slow turn of the laptop.
“She boarded Titanic as Y/n L/n,” the screen shows a sepia image causing Allison to gasp, Isaac to mutter ‘holy shit’, Stiles to drop his marker, and Scott to feel his stomach drop. Derek and Peter shared a look, Derek more anxious than his uncle. “But she’s been living as Loretta Andrews.”
There on the screen, listed as the socialite Y/n L/n and wearing the jaw-dropping necklace called the Heart of the Ocean, was a woman whose face the teenagers had seen every Monday to Friday for the last three months. Who looked no older than the age of 30 like in the picture and had arrived in Beacon Hills shortly before the spring semester.
Their English teacher, Loretta Andrews.
