Thanks again anon! I think I would pretty much would ship anything if I find it funny enough? Transformers also live for like, over a million years and that's an entire humanities worth of drama multiple times over all in one bot, so they all should have something that would connect them and give them some chemistry. Megastar and optiratch just makes me go wild. I like wavewave too, oh man I can't really think of alot rn but I'll make it very obvious if another ship sinks its claws in my brain, optiratch is a pretty recent obsession so there's always room for more

I can also flip flop between dynamics pretty easily, do I like the command trine as triplets? Yeah, and I also like them in another universe as a threesome, same with Bumblebee, Frenzy, and Rumble, as much as I like making them younger, alot if the time in canon they're pretty much as old as the rest of the crew. I avoid incest and underage though.

also this is just my own takeaway of the events, it doesn’t necessarily comply to the Ultimate Truth of Canon-Alignment or represent the actual facts of what hussie intended! v sentimental smh but hopefully its still interesting to read

i love when characters inform each other by proximity, it's one of my fave things to see in media :') it feels even more significant when two characters deliberately choose to stick together, so that when one operates, you can tell the other is similarly aligned in associative solidarity.

sollux is a keystone of this trope — whoever he aligns with is a wordless statement, a nod of approval. this stood out to me bcs the main four humans were alr friends by default, but once you reach hivebent you realize the trolls can actively choose who they want to hang out with.

and as we all know, after assessing every troll's biases/loyalties, sollux is the only one who maintains his selective preference for innately Good 👍 people.

aradia is such a beautiful character honestly, she evokes such incredible feelings in me. she might not have been consistently written with care but the best parts of her character are truly stunning. i think it's easy to remember sollux as the self-sacrificing one bc he's so open about it (and his friends frequently react to his Moments) but when you compare him to aradia, it's always struck me

how much more. raw it is

to be so alone as an agent of time, having to orchestrate immeasurably harrowing events nobody understands or gives a fuck about

with your role painted in the story as one who must tend to the needs of the narrative, responsible to match every next note

because when you're given the capabilities, it becomes your duty to carry it out.

it becomes expected of you to keep experimenting and arranging the machinations to work for everyone, dusting off hundreds of necessary failures to keep going

and having to be so unwavering in your drive knowing miserably that there's no one who can help you but yourself.

or alternatively: to make things fun! so other people won't think twice about letting you go off on your own.

sure she's had some very good buds, notably thanks to Team Charge v Team Scourge antics.

and yet, at the end of the day, the one friend that kept choosing her time and time again was the friend with the highest standards.

i can see why people like to define arasol as moirails/matesprits but surprisingly i find the nondescript, unlabeled aspect of their relationship more straightforward to understand.

there's no shortage of people who would accommodate sollux. most of the surviving trolls are his oldest friends bcs he’d chosen them well. his transparency with his feelings had built him strong friendships that won’t falter or break, regardless of how much of a dick he can be. they’ve already seen and accepted him at his worst, and they still like him for who he is.

contrast that with aradia, who'd been so approachable, friendly and reliable in her exchanges it was super fun to talk to her. but the moment she became depressed, all her connections broke down.

her friends became hesitant to interact with her (until she became god tier, “happy” and amicable again) because her gloom and resignation didn’t serve them. she dealt with it alone.

there’s def something of note here abt the disparity between the way male & female characters are written+perceived in homestuck (esp parallel arasol with davejade) but i won’t go into that lmaoo

with this in mind i like to think of sollux as a gift to her, a loyal companion given to complement and commend her resolve. she's capable of doing so much alone but hussie took the time to build her and sollux's relationship as one of a unit; a set.

the ambiguity of their status does complicate things, but i do believe it makes sense with their characters. aradia's relationship with romance is a rocky one, the dubious stringalong equius had with her is a pointed reminder that her feelings of attraction are ultimately controlled by the author writing her.

unlike the other trolls who can openly address and own up to their crushes, aradia had romantic emotions forced upon her (especially when hussie implies 'she kissed equius back on her own volition'). and it seems like her character is so intrinsically neutral abt attraction that even when forced by the almighty powers above, she's unable to retain it wholly.

however, looking back to pre-game when she could actually "choose" her own feelings, she did have a crush on sollux.

their soft spots for each other were so obvious to the point where other people could see it.

taunting aside, when vriska comments on their unit as bf/gf it actually informs the audience that arasol's relationship is romantic in nature despite not aligning with the quadrant system.

even while dead, aradia could still describe her care for sollux, expressing that she would like to see him happy. if they had more time to explore their relationship on alternia, it's possible they could've settled in a quadrant once they grew older.

but going back to the lack of labels, their dynamic was affected once more when aradia became god tier.

to me, her ascension was both the perfect culmination and possible closure of her character. it's the light at the end of her journey toiling through countless of timelines where she had to actively assess and participate. that's why it's cool to see her being silly and having fun giving guidance, passively exploring and watching other people do their parts.

and yet the joy of her freedom makes it hard to explore further introspection. if we take her by her word, she'd already come to terms with the hurt she's been through and forgiven those involved.

i can't help feeling attuned to how impersonal and detached it can be, to devote and meld your identity so completely with your designated position as Maid of Time until you've become hard for your old friends (and even some readers!) to personally connect to.

idk post-canon but i assume there’s some degree of similarity to be bridged here with aradia's god tier and how the hs2 humans' Ultimate forms was described as a consolidation of all their possibilities. since aradia's classpect is inherently of service to Time, going god-tier may have elevated her beyond personhood with the "game construct" possessing her entirely. sollux doesn't realize the extent of it bcs he's still mortal, but a part of him may have subconsciously understood this.

i think there is a core aspect to aradia that was lost to the dehumanizing glory of god tier — a core aspect that may have contained an element of why sollux enjoyed talking to her in the first place.

to him, aradia hadn't just been a nice girl, she was a cool girl. despite not having much in common, he's still willing to chill next to her so she's not alone while she does what needs to get done.

back on alternia, they held a mutual and equal-level regard for each other that could've definitely settled into something permanent. but now, he's placed himself in a position where he can be kept around or left behind at will. the parameters of the relationship are largely in aradia's court, so any label she suggests to identify their relationship with he's likely to accept.

but that's why it's so difficult to label it. because god tier aradia may not necessarily Want quadrants or relationship labels. rather than the initial romantic attachment, their commitment to each other had evolved into one fundamentally of companionship.

no label? ok fine. no matter what, he still thinks she's a good soul worth latching on to. the best, actually. aradia > everyone else.

even if it gets stilted at times. there's an unexpected struggle to connect when sollux's go-to default for talking points is his feelings about things, and aradia may not want to talk about emotions all the time.

not to mention god tier aradia became an observer, especially of chaos. but sollux's avoidance of involvement comes partially from his innate pressure to get involved if something goes wrong. and he can't always tell when something goes wrong, because aradia doesn't mind if things go wrong anymore.

it's a non-negotiable preference that causes them to take the occasional time apart, a new boundary that wouldn't have existed before the game and aradia's god tier.

but just like how his friends tolerated his moods, sollux accepts aradia as she is. with no quadrants, their connection doesn't break down because there's no implicit romantic expectations to be disappointed by or resentful over.

sometimes when i see hs content that deliberately distances sollux from aradia, i assume this is the dissonance people might have felt. people might find it "easier" to be cynical about them bcs of this strange tension.

but idc lmao. grab that shit by the neck

lack of easy resolutions and cleanly tied ribbons is pretty standard of homestuck and imo it doesn't make arasol's dynamic any less incredible. with the right affection and consideration, there's still so much potential to develop the nuance of their relationship outside of the popular quadrant-based depictions.

hs has a lot of really great character compatibilities but the way aradia and sollux are in their own special orbit is why i can write this much about them in the first place. it's that frail innocence between first loves that makes it so sweet to me, two kids who grew up too fast playing guesswork without being clear where they're going.

ultimately i do think you're meant to feel a little tragedy for just how much they care for each other, even if they can't quite establish it in simple terms.

maybe they keep taking breaks to progress their own paths. maybe they remain as anchor partners while seeing other people. but even if you decide to separate them, they're still (awkwardly) texting each other updates all the while. and when they reunite it feels like coming home.

and well. more than anything, i like to believe that they do want to be exclusive.

they're just afraid. after all, they're still learning how to love, beyond the projections of the foursquare quadrant system they had inadvertently distanced themselves from since young.

they might not have everything figured out, but they'll get there eventually if you just hold them together and write them there.

optional post-canon segment:

one of the limitations of main hs is that (monogamous) relationships are often written as the go-to solution to wrap up character growth; it's an easy "patch" to imagine characters getting their happy ending because they have a partner, and those who don't end up with someone don't get that closure (most notably jade).

hs2 reaffirms this by suggesting that aradia's character cannot progress without letting sollux go, because happily settling in a relationship automatically locks your potential.

that pathetic panel of sollux staring emptily into the sky is still my fave hs2 spoiler ngl i find the impact of their parting so emotionally provoking precisely bcs they were written in original hs to be each other's forever, coming back together again and again

but now, they're subject to the decisions of the post-canon authors who might choose to deviate from that.

it's not new for them to part, but now there's an underlying worry that her dropping him off this time might be the last time. while i think the prospect of shattering their stability to make them grow separately sounds fun on paper, no amount of me desperately hoping for a good execution is gonna guarantee it

idk. i guess prediction-wise im expecting sollux in classic dramatic-hs2 fashion to tell dave to back off aradia LMAO. otherwise it's just gon be sollux and karkat pathetically watching aradia and dave from a distance swimming in their unresolved feelings for narratively-powerful time players smh obvs it sounds corny as hell but who knows its still plausible

srsly tho i hope they take the opportunity to develop arasol's relationship in a fresh direction that doesn't hurt me too badly...... and i hope they force sollux out of his comfort zone. i like watching him struggle :-)

Chippy steals EVERYTHING. She's kind of a menace to everyone he meets. She was created in the show to teach a lesson more specific than "bullying = bad," so they did "stealing = bad." Even with her "negative" purpose, she still proves that she could make real friendships like her and Gigi. Gigi's friends might not be too fond of their possessions disappearing after a hangout, but they tolerate her for Gigi. A lot of other Toons (like Teagan) think that she can help Chippy. It hasn't worked out so far and resulted in a tea set missing...

Nobody likes File. Or at least, like him for who he is. He's what people would call a "Stick in the mud" or "Vibekiller." He's very adamant on the "canon" and what's he believes is right. This gives him a very black and white view of the world. For example, he doesn't believe in character development, especially with Toons like Shrimpo. In his mind, Shrimpo is a bully and will always be a bully. His linear thinking drives many Toons away, but some stick around for answers. File didn't work with kids, but instead, the Toon Handlers and Arthur and Delilah. It's the reason why Dandy hasn't killed him or Rodger actually talks to him. In their minds, he's the closest thing to the "status quo."

okay so I had to search up circus rolls so I’m going off of this one reddit post I found

this post may be a bit long (when isn’t it lmaoo)

Ringmaster: Cartman. -> he would immediately assign himself this position but he would mysteriously get a lot of funding so no one has the guts to overthrow him. Is your stereotypical neglectful ringleader who acts like a tyrant. I’ve also decided to add Wendy as his co-ringmaster or assistant because she’d be the one keeping him in check and managing basically everything while Cartman manages finance. He hates working alongside her but she’s a key worker for his circus and she’s GOOD at her job so he can’t really do anything. Always rips on her though.

Strongman: okay. LISTEN. I’m going to put Gregory here. He’s a blond British political man. His hair also looks like a stereotypical Ken doll. He’d be the generic strong blond who bends iron bars and the crowd goes wild.

Contortionist: Tweek seems like the type to freak other kids out with his hyper mobility and the ability to bend his fingers all the way back. He’d make a mean contortionist except for when he’s having a bad day and can’t fathom the thought of being stuck in a small cube

Ariel Artist/trapeze artist: as mentioned before, Kenny is THE perfect fit for this. He’s got a knack for shooting himself out of canons and walking precariously on thin rope. I just feel like he’d be a really loose limbed guy. All his fears disappeared years ago, his deaths making him reckless.

Acrobats: I feel like the girls (Heidi, Bebe and Red) would be the acrobats. They would have colour coordinated fits and would already have a history of gymnastics. Bebe would also be on silks.

Fire Performer/knife throwing: Kyle immediately came to mind because I feel like he’d have a stick up his ass about safety and then the dude goes on to shove swords of fire down his throat. Also red hair equals fire OBVIOUSLY 🙄

Manipulator (aka the juggler, plate spinner, hat tricks): Butters because can you imagine him on a tricycle juggling with balls and clown face paint? Because I certainly can and Cartman gets a lot of amusement out of it (sorry butters)

Fortune Teller: Henrietta. No further notes.

Animal tamer: Good ol’ animal lover enthusiast Stan. He’d be dangerously protective over his animals and would shoot down any of Cartmans performance plans that would put the animals at risk.

Stilts: Craig. No reason why just, Craig.

Musician: Jimmy. Cartman attempted to make Jimmy a ‘freak’ for the circus but his music is just that good

Magician: Clyde would be those dorky magicians who’s embarrassed himself several times before but he’s getting better. The crowd always thinks his fails are a part of the act so it works

Horses/Extreme Dressage: Tolkein would still manage to stay elegant while working in a circus. He’s just like that. He also LOVES his horse.

If this is a stendy au, Stan would be jealous and HATE Gregory’s flirting with Wendy because he knows that Gregory knows how attractive he himself is and being a strongman and all and Stan is stuck being a vegan animal trainer :,)

Knowing Cartman he probably has a ‘freaks’ section but I honestly don’t even want to go into that because we all know it’s full of minorities 😓

This is honestly really messy and really bad because I just discovered several of these circus roles in the last five minutes. I tried to match the characters to their job as best as I could but honestly I can’t say I’m super satisfied (not the worst I still like a few roles) 💔

this helps him a lot with art and he's actually pretty good at it even though he's not as passionate about it as he is with football/soccer

he started drawing through doodling his favourite manga characters and he's able to recreate art styles almost perfectly

he's actually pretty careless when it comes to his schoolwork (esp for STEM) so sometimes he'll hand in incomplete work bc it looks like he's already filled in certain questions

like no. you doodled an eye instead of solving for "x"

he canonically hates science, but if he had to choose one branch as his favourite, it would be chemistry (not boring & derivative memorization like bio but not absolutely insane like physics)

something might contradict this in canon but i hc his handwriting is pretty shitty lmao

since so many sports anime characters look like him (nanase haruka, kageyama tobio, etc) i like to pretend they're all cousins and they meet up at family reunions to compete to see who's better at their respective sport

so yeah despite having no siblings he has a shit ton of cousins who he's really close to

he was conceived by accident 💀 his parents love and coddle him despite this

despite showing the exact opposite of the typical symptoms (great spacial awareness, scarily good empathy, etc) i still say he's got autism lmao. he just has a really unique type yk

he's just spent so much time walking around saitama he has a map of most of it installed in his mind

he really doesn't use his phone much at all. he has a few accounts in case he wants to check something out, but he doesn't post anything + barely follows anyone + even has a blank pfp on everything

he apparently received 0 valentine's chocolates in the previous year, but a few ppl from school had a crush on him

he's not popular or anything but some ppl over the years thought he was a genuinely sweet guy and quietly observed him from a distance

his school friends all have way more romantic experience than him and they all tease him for this

Now which one of us survived these two arts? Certainly not me. The fact that these are set post-canon, showing not only how their bond is stronger than ever but that Haru is the one initiating the contact, and the fact that it's proof beyond doubt that Makoto is SO significant to Haru's journey as a swimmer (when we already know he's significant - see: most important - in every other aspect of life outside the pool), the idea that he only got this far bc of Makoto, "it's meaningless without you" and "i appreciate you being here for me" walked so these arts could run. I remember when this spoiler dropped it was just so 😮‍💨 honestly what makes this scene so peak for me is Ikuya walking past, watching them being gay and is like... u know what not my circus not my monkey. He's so valid for that. But overall the fact that Makoto knows Haru well enough to help here even when he's not his coach, the fact that Haru trust him when his body needs to be in peak condition. Stop it. Their trust and respect for each other just gets me.

I have not much new to liveblog (tho i did make a psych side blog, @lassiesloveoflarping ) but I gotta know: is the fact that the episode titles are Like That because Shawn names them canon/word of god, or do we simply know because of how cool and sexy we all are?

We as Psych fans (Psychos) know how cool and sexy we all are. The Psych fandom is so fucking hilarious and wholesome all at once. I remember when I first watched Psych and thought “Omg, I’m like Shawn & Lassie as one entity” because I’m chaotic like Shawn, I say movie & TV show references on the daily, make dumb ass jokes at times where everyone is probably like “really?..” and I’m just like “but the joke was pretty funny, right?” Then I’m like Lassie in the sense of being totally over it, having a resting bitch face, sticking to facts alone, being emotionally constipated, but also pathetic in a sexy & endearing way. Lmaoo. I love the Psych fandom so much that it’s insane.

When Shawn started rambling off Lassie & his ship names I started laughing so hard when I first saw it because he literally has no shame. Lassie being in pure horror and dread just made it even funnier. Shawn flirting with Lassie & basically any person who walks this planet is just a mood and I love it. Lol.

Lassie secretly does love Shawn though. Like, all of the characters who are so over Shawn’s BS all secretly love him and his chaotic nature. It’s honestly very sweet. The creators of the show did such an amazing job giving them such an amazing dynamic.

Like in the episode where Shawn was shot (Season 4 Episode 9: Shawn Takes A Shot In The Dark) and Lassie, the one who is known to dislike Shawn and just looking at him makes Lassie wanna lay in the street, mainly referred to Shawn by his first name, genuinely wanted to find him, was very persistent on finding him firsthand, even though he didn’t want Henry involved, still allowed Henry to join him because he understood that that was Shawn’s dad & was indeed a good cop in his day, called Shawn “Detective” as a way of complimenting his bravery, survival skills, deductive skills, and firearm aim, etc.

Then we have Shawn, who we know makes fun of Lassiter and mocks him at any given time to annoy him, immediately tried phoning him after he couldn’t get through to Gus when this were getting serious, when he was being choked by the kidnappers while Lassie & Henry were outside, he tried saying Lassie’s actual first name “Carlton” but it was blocked because of him getting choked, trusted that he would be found by Lassiter, his dad, and the rest of his friends, etc. It showed that even though Shawn gives Lassie shit, he genuinely trusts Lassie, knows he good at his job, knew that if something was wrong and if Gus didn’t pick up, to get ahold of Lassiter.

They both give each other so much shit but they both do genuinely care for each other. It’s very much seen as the show continues. It’s also very much shown in the second Psych movie “Psych 2: Lassie Come Home” when Shawn holds Lassie’s hand as he was sleeping. The actor (James Roday Rodriguez) did that for a different reason as well because Timothy Omundson (Lassie) had just recovered from a major stroke that could’ve ended his life. So, it was a welcome back sort of thing and a way of comforting him. I literally adore basically every single character & episode within the Psych series and I adore the cast even more. They’re all so sweet. I know they all want to make more Psych movies together buttttt they’re all busy people.

Kipperlilly - I LOVE her little passive aggressive jabs at the Bad Kids even before she outwardly lost her cool at the cafeteria. Calling them the Photosynthekids because she knows Adaine doesn't like the name, looking Directly At Them when saying her platform is based on fairness, that 30 seconds of silence at the food trucks when Kristin asks how she could be studying if the rogue teacher found her. My girl is fighting TOOTH AND NAIL to reign in her rage and keep a relatively pleasant, put-together outward appearance and even then she can't resist doing these petty, immature little things to get under their skin she's so funny (Goro Akechi-core I'll never shut up abt it).

Ruben - I like how Genuine and earnest he defaults to being when he doesn't have an excuse to be rageful. The Wanda Childa bits where he seems genuinely into her and kind of nervous around her, saying dorky one-liners that he thinks will impress her ("stay chill-da"), saying he's getting mobbed by autographs when he and Wanda are the only people on the bus, the fact that he said "frick" instead of fuck. Just based off of these I really get the impression that he isn't the most experienced with being an angry person and so much of how he acts is performance because he's now Expected to be mad.

Buddy - HE'S SO FUNNY "It's why I never hit anybody. I raise my hand, and sometimes a spell comes out and obliterates people" WHAT DO YOU MEANNNN THATS INSANE. I think I like the description of him at the party best, "positive but deeply judgmental", my guy will say the most snarky shit but with an upbeat positive tone, "You and what god?".

Mary Ann - Honestly just the fact that she's stayed the same since freshman year with her pink sweatshirt and Tamagotchi. My girl knows what she likes and is STICKING with it which is DEEPLY relatable. Plus I just love the concept of a tiny 3-foot tall barbarian with a squishmallow collection lmaoo

Ivy - Ivy we haven't been given a lot to work with but I LOVE the interaction she has with Fabian at the party, "Your ping-pong table's fucked up. Legs are different lengths, yeah?" "Fuck you." "Is that a threat?". I wish Ivy and Fabian got more chances to interact thanks to this scene alone. Plus her jabs at Oisin are very fun I love the dynamic those two have.

Oisin - I know I've said this before but "You didn't see the storm coming? Must not be a very good Oracle." SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!! HE ATE HE'S SO SNARKY!!!! Bro went OUT OF HIS WAY with a 3rd level spell slot to send that to Adaine he's so DRAMATIC I hope Adaine gets to punch him.

Lucy - This is more about the concept of Lucy than who she is because we still don't rly know a lot abt her canon personality, but her entire situation is just the perfect tragedy, the way all her friends came back Wrong but she "stuck to her guns", the clearly fond way some of them look back on her, plus the entire scene in the clearing after Frosty Faire where the Bad Kids discover her and Yolanda's body. I thought the entire scene of seeing a reflection of the two of them in the lake was very beautiful.

SPEAKING OF THE BAD GUYS JUST. FUCKING CHILLING ONCE THEYRE REVEALED TO BE EVIL. what's up with Hotspur??? he was literally the movie villain big baddie who like tried to literally MURDER all dogs and also imprisoned his brother and basically tried to murder his brother and his nephew (LITERALLY Scar-Mufasa-Simba style lmaoo they didnt even try to hide it and its so fuckin funny to me) and then we enter the series and he's just???? allowed to continue being a respected werewolf elder and also running his evil dog shelter??? i get that the series is almost sort of a 'separate/alternate canon' but technically at the end of the movie they also showed him just like?? doing community service?? i literally find it so fucking funny that when someone tries to commit an Evil (see: Cherry, Ric, Hotspur, etc.) the rest of the characters are all like "hey i know you tried to murder me but just do some community service and you can join the pack again kay? 🥰"

but despite the little plot holes the series still seems to run so smoothly and i just love how it knows the right amount of seriousness to take itself, and i love how all of the characters work together... like they could have just had Ivan be a stuuuupid bully forever but within the first few episodes they were already showing him being a better person and being a good member of the pack, all while still keeping his personality... like he even tried to protect Batty's secret!!! even though he was being dog racist you KNOW he would still protect Batty and Freddy with his life even though they're dogs because THEY'RE HIS PACK!!!

also i just love how Freddy LIKES being a dog! like obviously in the movie he reached the conclusion that dogs weren't bad/inferior and he was fine being a pink poodle instead of a big scary werewolf like the rest of his family, but i was afraid the series would revert him and make him all "oooo im just a stupid dog i want to be a powerful wolf!!! no one takes me serious!!" but nah, in the series he's literally like "being a dog is the fucking best and if you disagree you can fucking suck it 😎" AND in 200% Wolf the whole plot is going to be that he DOES get transformed into a wolf and he WANTS TO GO BACK TO BEING A POODLE!! i love that!!

But hmm— this is a lil difficult to answer but if the original cast WERE in my au, my initial thoughts are:

• Mabel would be friends w/ Rag but I imagine Rag would tend to really baby her or simplify things as if Mabel wouldn’t understand them. She’s better friends w/ Gangle, they’d doodle together and make some up a silly comic idea together to keep themselves occupied. One day they’ll present the comic to the circus like a pitch and Mabel would dress them both up lil business women in oversized suits. She’d give Kinger and Caine makeovers. I think she’d try and help zooble feel comfortable.

• Dipper would keep to myself in my mind, I’ve thought about him maybe thinking Jax is cool similar to how he’d find Wendy cool, but since Jax so much more cruel with pranks where someone’s always the butt of the joke— he’s lose interest pretty quick on being friends. He’d spend more time wandering the walls tryna spot some way to leave but otherwise he sticks to Mabel to keep his sanity up and of course Ford. He’s pretty intrigued meeting his unknown uncle. I imagine he likes Pomni a lot though, despite pomni being overly anxious like him— i think it’d make him feel better to know someone is as open about their fears of never escaping. He’s rocking with Zooble, dysphoria buddies for sure [me asf]. He likes Ragatha, she’s nice to him

• Ford probably sticks to taking care of Mcgucket and only discusses with everyone unless it benefits his by now endless goal of figuring out an escape. If it weren’t for his family showing up when they did, I imagine he would’ve been on the brink of losing his mind. In my mind, he could dislike Kinger only bc his incoherent behavior would frustrate him, but he’d become apart of the ppl he tries his best to check in on despite how much he could get frustrated at. He just feels guilty being with everyone or too many people, so anyone outside Stanley and Fidds doesn’t really know him— the kids try to anyway despite how survival mode he’s in. If he did have to like anyone— he enjoys Ragatha’s determination to be optimistic, he likes Pomni cause of her blunt remarks and determination despite being fearful, zooble and gangle because they’re sooo much more quiet than the others [I’d be so over drummed in the circus so he gets to be too cuz I put my autism beam on him]

• Gucket and Kinger would be friends idc, I feel like when they’re more lucid they have really great talks. Gucket also probs like Ragatha, i feel like she reminds him of Emma-May for some reason.

• I feel like Stan would be the first to read Jax to filth, if that guy even messed with him or the kids too much— he better get ready for Stanley to start calling him out on it. He’s going straight for that “so did dad not love u or something?” LMAOO. I think he’d freakin love Zooble, I feel like he’d adopt them as his cool older kid similar to how he would with Wendy— feel like he sees a lot of himself in them. Likes Pomni cuz of dipper and also I imagine he finds her snarky remarks amusing, bluntfulness gets you points to this man [same with ford]

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE EVAN ROSIER HEADCANONS

(ive been asking everyone because he's slowly becoming my favourite)

just now realising you asked this nearly a month ago i'm so sorry i don't know why i struggle with answering asks so much!! but anyways evan headcanons i will GLADLY give. my characterisation of him is less concrete than characters like barty or regulus but i think about him loads still i love him...

this is a classic ofc but i will always see him and pandora as twins!! i love siblings in media so much and i think it allows for suuupper interesting dynamics between them, even in canon

in muggle aus my go-to career for him is either a piercer or something in the medical science field. i can just picture him as this mildly off-putting medsci student who goes on to be a forensic pathologist or something, he's really intrigued by the human body and how it functions in various ways. could definitely also go the way of unlicensed surgeon or mad scientist who performs fucked up experiments on people but that sort of thing doesn't quite fit into every fic lmaoo

i've always thought of him as more of a piercings guy than a tattoo guy (which is the opposite to barty). he'd definitely have both but i associate him more with piercings if that makes sense? i imagine he'd have a labret, bridge, stretched lobes (~7/8"), stretched septum (~0g), eyebrows (normal and middle placements), and high nostrils. all symmetrical!! plus probably some other non-facial piercings

he'd love sci-fi, thriller, and horror (especially psychological) films. anything super tense and probably confusing

when he was a child he and pandora would trap and kill insects. they'd spend ages examining little bug bodies and dissecting them with sticks and stuff... as he grew older he became more and more interested in bigger animals. occasionally he would kill animals himself but more often he'd search for those already dead, especially roadkill. once he was finished with any given specimen he'd carefully remove, clean, and reconstruct their skeletons to give to pandora. she didn't like the organs stuff as much as he did but she loved collecting bones and taxidermy insects, in exchange one year for his birthday (10-14th, maybe) she spent ages searching to buy him a surgical set from an antique store

waaay scarier than barty. if you don't know them you might be more initially scared by barty but while barty is loud and crazy and violent and laughs at pain/danger, evan is creepy. he knows way a million and one ways to kill someone without leaving behind any evidence. he knows every single pressure point on the human body. someone mentions a medicine they've taken their whole life for the first time and when someone else asks what it is he can explain in minute detail exactly how it works to the point where not even the person who takes it knew even half of what he says. he's super quiet moving without even meaning to be so he scares the shit out of people all the time. he doesn't blink as often as he should but just often enough that you don't notice until you're paying attention. and this is all revealed gradually, whereas barty's most "scary" traits are purposefully the most surface level things about him

he loooves medical dramas. he's watched tons of them. he HATES the good doctor though, purely on principle because once someone said that must be his favourite because he's autistic. his actual favourite is house

he runs cold and NEVER wears shorts. lots of beanies and jackets

Of Fire and Flesh is an AU set in modern times, but wow!! zombie apocalypse !! all the characters were in the same big city when the break out happened, so they're all in the same vague area and cross paths.

This is primarily a horror survivial AU, and to be blatant and open about it, apocalypses are my special interest and I despise the genre for its impracticality, lack of focus, and male power fantasy; this AU is not that. it's about survival, trusting in each other, and creating a future humanity can thrive in again. Even if it takes time to get to that point.

Sean is very dear to me, and I'm glad my reading into him as much as I do strikes a chord with other people ;;u;;

The way the general fandom often characterizes him isn't very surprising to me, given his personality & the surface level impressions he gives, but maybe for now I'll save THAT rant for another time, else we stay here forever lmaoo

So, to start answering your question, I believe you're talking about my post from a few months ago, where I talk about how I believe Sean & Lenny would've sided with Arthur & John if they'd lived to see the final confrontation. In it I mention how I find that final confrontation a lot more unlikely were Lenny & Sean to survive that far and stick around for the entire thing.

Now, WHY do I believe this? I touch on it briefly in that original post, but let's really get into it here!!

Okay to start off, there's a LOT of ways I see things going, in regards to Sean and Lenny, were they both to survive, because it adds SO MANY variables, but let's start at the very top.

At a meta level, it is important to recognize that RDR2 is a prequel to RDR1. This meant from the get that RDR2, as it is canonically, was bound to a certain outcome, to set up for RDR1. This ALSO means, that every step from the start of RDR2 was very much there not only to lay the groundwork for the end of RDR2 but also add another emotional layer to RDR1. This is all certainly things we are aware of already, but I think it's important to have that context in mind while we talk about alternative outcomes.

Because, see, Sean and Lenny HAD to die for the outcome in RDR2 to be the one it is. Not only them, but Hosea, Kieran, Molly, and Susan's deaths are ALL integral and important to the story, they ALL make a difference and contribute in pushing the story a certain way, and in reinforcing the steadily increasing hopelessness which infest the gang from Sean's death and out.

So if we're like "what if none of them died?" there are suddenly a LOT of new variables for every mission and every scenario we know from the game, which need to be considered. This is true EVEN if the change in survival count is only reduced to Lenny & Sean.

How different do you not think Shady Belle would have felt, initially, without Sean's death hanging over it? What about the bank job -- would Lenny & Sean end up on the boat to Guarma? What would've happened to them there, then? Would either of them be caught by the Pinkertons instead, with John or in his stead maybe? What other options would there have been, where would they end up at the end of that?

And already here we have to consider how those experiences might've impacted them psychologically, because of who they are.

In the post I mentioned earlier, I talk about how Lenny is new to the gang and probably isn't as stuck in it mentally as Arthur and John, nor do Sean and Lenny have the same emotional attachment/baggage in regards to Dutch. They're loyal of course, because they feel a sense of obligation to the gang, because it provides them with safety, friends, and allies, in an otherwise unkind world.

But what then happens when that changes?

How do you expect Sean and Lenny to respond when the gang starts turning on itself? When Dutch visibly starts losing it? When people start snapping at each other and threatening one another in the middle of camp?

(I have a half-formed thought here about how people would ABSOLUTELY be snapping and talking down to Sean in a way more cruel way towards the end of the game, for trying to keep things light and easy, yknow, fulfilling his role in the gang. I can only imagine what that'd end up doing to him, tbh.)

And, I'll be repeating myself from other posts here, but how do you think Lenny, a young black man painfully aware of the social structure as it exists in America at that point in time, would react to realizing what Dutch's plan with the Wapiti is? Same goes for Sean, who has SEVERAL instances through the game showing him just as politically aware as Lenny - certainly moreso than Arthur.

Would the outcome for the Wapiti tribe be the same, do you think, if Charles had more people than a very sick and tired Arthur to lean on, willing to help? Would Lenny in particular want to stick around to see Dutch attempt to drive the tribe into the ground for his own gain?

Also, I'm sorry but like, Lenny has a camp interaction with Dutch where he disagrees with him (about Miller, Dutch's favorite author) and explains why in a very well-articulated manner. In one instance, Dutch gets straight up offended by it, bcz Lenny can argue very well (and is RIGHT mind you lol).

I do absolutely believe that Lenny would not just sit around quietly in Beaver Hollow. I'd expect him to be among the most vocal in their discontent with the situation, and probably the best at arguing against Dutch.

That is, up until a certain point. Lenny is a young black boy, and Dutch is a white authority figure. Watch Dutch snap and yell at him, like he does John in Ch6 for example, and see how much longer Lenny sticks around fr. The trade is loyalty for safety and the same in kind. Why do you think members start leaving when things start looking their worst? And don't you think Lenny would be among the first to see the writing on the wall?

Though that is hinging on that very specific vibe in Beaver Hollow, where they're all scattered and losing their ties to one another. Add then in Sean, who is VITAL as social glue, and for making conversations easier. If he, and Lenny, and Mary-Beth, Tilly, Arthur, Charles, etc etc, insert your favorites here, managed to retain some of that community feeling, despite it all, then I absolutely see Lenny sticking around for them.

Same goes for Sean, tbh. I can see him leaving earlier, bcz the trade stops being equal and bcz he's not being taken seriously, and I can see him staying, for his friends.

There IS also a version of things where things are similar and I do see Sean siding with Dutch; but that is a very sad and lonely Sean, who is VERY different from where he's at in Clemens Point, and I think that's an unfair perspective to take for him in general.

Okay so, now we're back to that final confrontation, after I said I found it unlikely, why is that? Because, with every question I've posed thus far, about what Lenny & Sean's reactions might've been to canon events after their deaths, I have essentially presented a variable that comes with their survival to those points. Them being there for it, HAS to mean a change, has to mean something different happens, because their deaths are direct contributors to the path we already know the story takes WITHOUT their presences.

Now, what are those differences and changes? I honestly can't answer; something being different earlier or later can butterfly-effect into something completely new or remarkably similar to what we already know. I could sit here all day and wax poetic about all the different options and possibilities for where things could go, were ANY character to survive past their death point, BUT thankfully, that is what fanfiction is for, lol.

He’s never had any control in any of it.

Rayni doesn’t know what she doesn’t know. Scared and humiliated as a teenager, she thought Gisela had shown her that. She learned to be confident in what she believed and to do whatever was necessary. And it was working, so she stood by it. And then, one day, the illusion was shattered and all she saw was another woman willing to break any promises. She fulfills the debt she knows she owes and tries to wash her hands of all of it.

But she can’t wash her hands of it, of course. Having defected only makes the black swan suspicious of her, and she’s sick of it. So she sticks to what she knows. Snark and confidence. If she can convince them she’s the one who knows what she’s doing then she has some form of control.

She needs some form of control.

They’ve both felt helpless throughout their lives, handling it in different ways.

Wylie looked for someone to blame, since if he didn’t have control, then someone else must, and it’s all their fault.

Rayni assumed a cool and calm near-arrogance, presenting as though she had control, like she could manifest it into existence.

At first, maybe Wylie blames Rayni a little, because of her involvement with the Neverseen. And maybe Rayni shows Wylie how much she doesn’t need his help, how there’s nothing he can give her but plenty she can give him. Maybe at first they both fall back on what they’ve always done to deal with their lack of control.

But the more time they spend together, the more those masks fall away. The more they realize just how much the other needs, and in turn, just how much they need. And they vow to be that for each other.
