✔️ADVANCED DESIGN LAB/////WEEK 5/////DISCOVER TO DEFINE AN INTENT STATEMENT
youtube

Activity 1 : Create the intent Statement for your project Reflect on the goals and objectives of your project and create a statement that clearly communicates them. As always, don't forget to add it to your Trello wall.Mark as done / Създайте декларация за намерението за вашия проект Обмислете целите и задачите на вашия проект и създайте декларация, която ясно ги съобщава. Както винаги, не забравяйте да го добавите към стената си в Trello. Answer: STATEMENT OF INTENT Pfizer from Moderna; Sputnik V or Astra Zeneca? These questions become more relevant as the winter season approaches. In parallel with them, we often ask ourselves the question: are they necessary at all? Isn't it all a matter of psychosis and unnecessary panic? What are the risks of applying vaccines to us.Unfortunately, such doubts are not without reason: recently, a lot of data has come out in which the increased risk of heart attack after the use of the above-mentioned vaccines is taken into account. Since the beginning of November, there have been debates in the British Parliament (as well as in the European Parliament) about deaths and serious illnesses caused directly by vaccines. This year, 16% more (young) people have died from heart disease than in previous years (before the 2020s) at the same time.
youtube
youtube
While more and more people are asking themselves whether vaccination is really necessary the government campaign continues - widely covered by the mass media (even in some poorer countries of the European Union instead of being free the vaccine is sold and only the traders and private entrepreneurs have profit from it.)
This necessitates a rethinking of the strategy to combat the covid-19 virus. In order to avoid the above-mentioned possible negative emotions and to instill confidence in our customers, we decided to present a completely new concept of covid-19 prevention, emphasizing the fact that more timely awareness of the meaning of such prevention is more effective than vaccination 2-3 or 4 times in a row in one season.
So, our GOAL is: to propose a better strategy than known until now for prevention against the virus covid-19 by developing an appropriate visual identity of a series of medical products that reduce the risk and prepare the autoimmune system to overcome the potential risk of covid-19 infection.
OBJECTIVES for the week 5 is : ---
-Creating a new concept for a new look for our covid-19 prevention product as well as some collateral products. -
-Determination of the target group of users/customers and its location. How to intrigue them?
-Setting deadlines for the implementation of current (weekly) objectives as well as checking their implementation at the end of the week.
Tumblr media
Activity 2 : Make your sprint review and plan the next sprintAt the end of this week take some time to reflect on the first print of your project. Did you finished all tasks? What went right and what went wrong? This is the moment to start preparing the next sprint. You will be working on social innovation and emotions. Answer : OBJECTIVES for next week (6) are : -Making a model/prototype of the product. -Promoting and testing it in various pharmacies and medical centers, as well as reporting its effectiveness (comparing it with the products of competing companies.) -Increasing the efficiency of the product : Organizing brainstorming to increase customer satisfaction with our product by improving functional qualities and emotional perception. Goal: achieving maximum easy and emotionally acceptable realization of the product ~ what visual (and taste) image evokes a feeling of delight on you? - brainstorming ~ what association with medical activity could cause repulsion/emotional barrier in the potential user/client? - brainstorming.

Servitor - Statement of Intent
[Auto-written and subsequently edited on the 23rd day of 2021, anchoring a thought process which began on the Winter Solstice. Initially provided to interested parties to solicit and secure invested support. Shared as-is (grammar mistakes and all) to complement the public announcement, even as further inspiration evolves the concept.]
Over a century ago; The Great Beast, Aleister Crowley, once declared:
“Every Man and every Woman is a Star” (The Book of the Law, 1904.)
Yet every person is more than a single star. We are a vast multitude - a galaxy of stars. A thousand points of light, each representing a different aspect of presence and potential, wilfully or subconsciously cast into the void. In our online activity we create new light, data points which radiate in their own indecipherable luminance. Chaos.
The ancients once stared into the heavens and projected stories into the swirling firmament. A contrivance of imagination, embodying aspects of the psyche in the form of constellations, to model and comprehend the complexity of existence.
In the modern age, we are no less creative. We draw lines of association between the aspects of ourselves that we know, in order to understand the unknown. Inferring what ought to be from the limitation of what is.
We do not exist in static. We are influenced by countless cycles through time and space; visible and invisible. Our place in the cosmos is delimited by day and night, the weather, and more obliquely the realms of planetary movement.
Each of our constellations project into an interconnected, complex, yet opaque mechanism; and new meaning is often impossible to derive.
But the interactions of cycle and metaphorical star can be plotted, analysed and acted upon. We just need better tools to map the complexity of being. The Servitor is this tool.
With consent, the Servitor will apply Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to analyse social media posts, favourite music, and many other aspects. A custom ‘Apophenia Engine’ will infer connections between these disparate points of data. To aid self-understanding and define areas which may be acted and improved upon. To set one’s course in life.
The Servitor will achieve this through regular reports of behaviour patterns. Demonstrating and revealing surprise interactions between the different aspects of our online presence, and how they may be affected by external cycles.
A scrollable ‘timeline’ will show how these different cycles interact with each other, explaining how they can influence our actions, moods and emotions. Revealing new connections and constellations we may not have been aware of.
These constellations will be visualised, to inform and describe your unique, individual complexity.
Fluid, Mercurial, Capricious. The Servitor will learn who you are, constantly updating and revising itself to be the best reflection of the best of you.
Let the Servitor into your life - Because there’s a little Magick in all of us.

B A C K  T O  M Y  S T A T E M E N T  O F  I N T E N T
As I mentioned in my video uploaded below, I have been finding it very difficult to continue with the acrylic painting of Lilah and really needed to put it aside for the moment to look at new avenues for my FMP.
For inspiration, and to keep myself on the correct track, I have returned back to my statement of intent and looked again at the initial pages of my sketchbook. Although I would have liked to revisit life casting I do not currently have all of the correct materials to do so. I do however have a decent amount of clay that I could put to use in a hope to capture unveiled moments of communication.
Although embryonic, in my experimental stage of the final major project, I had taken two plaster casts from my previous pathway project Mend and Repair. My new plan of action is to create further casts of these at home and fire them in the dustbin in the garden.

My Final Major Project
The title of my Final Major Project is Evolution of Art. Inspired by my childhood art work that covers my home and homes of others. I am mainly interested in personal development and the wider matter of the progression in the history of art, I wanted to focus on how people change their style and how this style is established or advanced. While doing research on this I noticed how the art of children could be linked to the work of professional/famous artists. Making me think do children copy and learn this or is it something that they are born with. This led me to questions like ‘Are people born creative?’, ‘Are some people more naturally artistic?’ and ‘Can artistic talent be learnt?’. This theme also links well with the overriding theme of cycles I have used in other projects. A person’s life, the passing of genes / evolution and the never ending expansion of art history can all be seen as cycles.
 Influences, Research, Sources and Ideas
Thinking about other work I have done that could link to this, in A-Level Psychology one of our topics was on the debate of nature and nurture. This concept puts forward the idea that all human behaviour is controlled by either biology (genes, hormones etc.) or environment (parental, childhood, etc.). I will also consider how art has changed through history, like different art movements and their techniques. I would also like to acknowledge artists who have drastically changed their style in adulthood, for example Pablo Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Henri Matisse, Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol. Some of whose work I have seen in places like the Tate London, Musée National Picasso and Musée d’Orsay. However, for a starting point I would like to use my own childhood art works and redevelop them to show personal growth and how my existing understanding of the formal elements would influence my development of these pieces. I may additionally like to collect other student’s childhood art. As a child, work is instinctive. Composition, shape and line would not have been considered. Have we improved or just become controlled?
Techniques, Processes and Timescale
I am often inspired by techniques and artists from a range of backgrounds such as Fine Art painters and Graphic Designers. I think it is important for my work to be stimulated by this as a feel people working in textiles are often seen as being cut off from things like Art History. During my project I will use lots of different techniques and media from a range of specialisms not just textiles. Combining textiles methods like screen printing and stitch to things like drawing, painting and photography. I would also like to develop techniques that I had used in the previous projects, like dark room photography, paper cutting and projection. However, I would like to stay as open as possible to new techniques that I may discover.
Method of Evaluation
I will continually evaluate and record all changes and developments in a journal, and take part in both group and peer critiques. Where other students can evaluate my progression and I can evaluate theirs. I will record the success of my project from the overall success of the exhibition. An evaluation will also be completed mid-way through the project and at the completion so I can clearly see the direction my work is taking. I think that evaluation is particularly important in my project as the theme is based on progression, growth and improvement in art.

Idea 2
Idea 2
Microscopic
Change as the only constant
Renewal of body - most cells are dying and replacing themselves constantly.
Cellular - There are between 50 and 75 trillion cells in the body.... Each type of cell has its own life span, and when a human dies it may take hours or days before all the cells in the body die.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Photos of cells
This is Unseen change - invisible to naked eye.
Activity that we have to work to see - beneath a layer/skin - under the sea - just out of sight - hazy/foggy  - behind curtains/gauze
How enormous was the invention of the microscope - made visible worlds within worlds - really like this concept.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Magnifiers used to burn - burning glasses. Interested in exploring this by actually using a magnifying lens. Thinking paper changing to ash...could either use the burn or use the ash in some way?
Tumblr media
Fresnel Lens - allowing the light from a lighthouse equipped with one to be visible over greater distances.
Tumblr media
Trivia - They were named lenses because they are shaped like the seeds of a lentil.
TO DO
Experiment with magnifying glass to see what effects I can make from burning.
Research body and cell regeneration - ideas around this?
Look at the idea of worlds within worlds…..thinking about visual imagery

Revised Statement of Intent
1. Before the impact of the current change of circumstances (essentially meaning being separated from the communal studio: certain equipment, resources) what were your plans for your BAPD203 module?
Revisit this and think about the research you had done in BAPD201 and how you were planning on building on this in BAPD203.
I have already completed a number of research initiatives and have written these up in a handwritten sketchbook.
Individual practice
Combining painting and printmaking.
Texture, layering, using mediums, collage, mark making, different grounds,
Learning new printmaking processes, carborundum, sugar lift, collograph.
Collaborative Practice with Cate Rogers.
2. In these changed circumstances what are the most significant factors impacting on how you will continue with your previous plans? ****What has changed for you?
No access to printing press, lack of space at home.
Not being able to continue collaborative project in the same manner.
Any shift to a requirement to digital submission, would entail a lot of reworking of my sketchbook to a digital format.
Prints, work and paper left in studio plan chest drawer.
From the things you have itemised above ……..Take each point and think about an alternative strategy that will enable you to continue with your original aim. Can you think of ‘equivalent strategies, approaches, methods’ to achieve what you were originally intending to do?  What are these and how can you implement them in this new setting?**
Look at ways I can produce prints at home.  Consider ways to work collaboratively without contact with the collaborator, research ways other artists have approached this. Start an online blog, digitally rewrite my sketchbook.   Reuse, recycle old unresolved work to continue work with collage, combining printmaking and painting.  Do this in line with ‘Ever Tried - Ever Failed’ GCOP lecture ethos.
4. Now rewrite your Statement of Intent for BAPD 203 (Still include details about overall concept and research & material execution. Write out a timeline for this from now until the submission date).
Having already completed some successful tasks of collaboration, I want to take this further, investigating how other artists have collaborated remotely. This will be in line with my GCOP essay, in which I am looking at how to deal with others interpretations of narratives and the risk factor associated with collaboration.

Final Major Project, Statement of Intent
Section One - Your Final Major Project
I intend to title my project “Overload” as this follows the theme of stress and pressure on young adults and students. The work I plan to explore and develop will vary from sound and video to painting and drawing. I intend to go back to my exploratory project, experimenting with the different properties of media and how I can manipulate these to portray a certain theme or message.
I am still unclear as to what I want to work towards for a final outcome however at the moment my clearest idea is having a video loop projected over a painting so that the painting looks as if it is moving and maybe incorporating sound or music into this to build an atmosphere.
I will be working to represent the effects of stress and overload figuratively, using the body as evidence of overload.
Section Two – Influences, Research, Sources and Ideas
As a starting point I will be looking into relevant artists to inspire my work such as Jenny Saville’s squashed figures and Jaume Plensa’s use of text. I can use these artists to adapt and develop my work so my theme is being portrayed effectively. I will make visits to different galleries for inspiration such as the Hepworth, Wakefield and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. A visit for me will include things such as a cinema experience and sightseeing because with will impact upon my process and influence it.
An important part of my work will be researching the statistics of young adults dealing with pressure because this will help me understand how I can represent this visually.
Watching artist interviews (such as Jenny Saville’s ‘Life through a Microscope’ interview,) making questionnaires and peer reviews will also be steps I take to develop my work towards a final product.
Section Three – Techniques, Processes and Timescale
As I have mentioned, I intend to experiment with materials and manipulating their properties revisiting my exploratory stage. I also would like to experiment with other specialisms and medias such as photography, video and music/sound.
Working with video and/or photography will mean lots of planning, such as booking out the studio or preparing a space to work within.
Our first exhibition date for my Final Major Project is on Thursday 27th June and so I need to be prepared for that date. I intend to start experimenting with media and ideas such as drawing/painting/using text/video/etc. and then begin to develop and refine my work from those experimental pieces.
Photoshoots with classmates and my life drawing model Helen will help me further develop my work and document my ideas quickly.
E.g. pressing the model’s body against glass or plastic to distort it.
Section Four – Method of Evaluation
Reviewing and evaluating my work is important to me because it helps me understand where I need to further develop my work and to present my ideas accurately.
I will take part in peer reviews, ask friends, classmates and my tutors to review my work and have them write critiques to document their opinions.
I will be documenting my time in the studio in my Journal daily as a clear indicator of how I am managing my time.

 Time scale
Week(s) 1-2:
This time period will be full of extensive research and review of my topic/ideas and artists. This research will be carried throughout my project. Everything will be documented in my sketchbooks(s), Journal and project file.Throughout this period also, I will be gathering materials and media which I feel will be the best for my up and coming experimentation. Small photoshoots will also take place within this time to flesh out my ideas. Critiques with peers and tutors will take place throughout this time frame to develop my ideas.
Weeks 3-6:
These weeks will be spent in the studio experimenting with different media. These pieces will then be developed into more refined ideas later on. I will be using painting and drawing, video, sound manipulation and photography however I will filter this down to one or two different specialisms for my final outcome. Group critiques and peer reviews will help me develop and refine my work further by looking at my ideas from another person’s perspective. Trips will begin within this stage such as our trip to the Hepworth gallery, Wakefield and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (Y.S.P)
 Weeks 7-9:
This will be spent refining and developing my ideas towards a final outcome. Tutor critiques at this stage will be crucial as a means to see how successful my work has refined and developed throughout the project.
 Weeks 9-11:
This time will be spent setting up my exhibition in my space ready for Thursday 27th June. This process should be documented through photographs and recorded in my sketchbook.
