that anon yesterday really ground my gears so lets quickly review some historical facts:

1. white men get accused of rape, pedophilia, and incest, and more often than not escape any form of tangible consequence. this is especially true when their victims are people of color.

2. men of color get accused of rape, pedophilia, or incest, and get lynched before there's even a trial. these accusations often come from white women to escape consequences for sexually assaulting the man in question.

3. rape and pedophilia have been used as forms of colonial-imperial violence to enforce white supremacy by both white men and women who, shocker, almost always got off with any consequences. and yes, its an issue that is still incredibly, horrifyingly relevant today.

4. people of color have been systematically painted as sexual deviants, incestuous savages, rapists, and child predators by white society from the moment they met us, which was then used to justify hundreds of years of enslaving, torturing, raping, and murdering people of color across the globe.

so, to review and add it all together:

rape, pedophilia, incest, and other forms of sexual violence are, first and foremost, an extension of violence, NOT sexual desire. treating sexual violence as solely an expression of desire is a privilege of white heteropatriarchy. when people of color open admit to wanting to engage in acts of sexual violence, they get killed. when white people do it, they make a new porn category for it.

Gathering Storm

Made another animation this one starring Olivier! I’ve been wanting to illustrate Olivier’s weather abilities for a while now since they’ve always looked so darn cool in my head whenever he used them.

Anyway this was a lot of fun to do and provided the opportunity for me to experiment with different rendering techniques for animation. Gradients and blended stuff overall takes some practice to learn how to move without looking choppy.

The effects also took a long time, I did a lot of experimenting with those to figure out what looked the best. The version up above is certainly the most dramatic looking but I also ended up with some calmer ones.

I just think this is the funnier chunk.#Lan Wangji absolutely is the kind of person who has a perfect internal alarm clock for when it is time to get up.#He already has a dedicated sleep schedule. He is accurate within 10 seconds of 5am every day.#I think the Jiang disciples are most likely used to waking up around 6:00-7:00am #But the allure of having a guaranteed time keeper getting you up in the morning is worth the earlier hour.#I imagine they started outside lwj's door and slowly moved closer as the weeks went on.#Now LWJ has to cope with being way too warm in the night from all the extra body heat.#LWJ is not a fan of this but they scamper off immediately after he wakes up and they at least show initiative to follow routine.#NHS joins in only because he is a chronically heavy sleeper and needs this level of intervention to get up early.#His boldness would be a death sentence in the cloud recesses but here? Whole new game.#Yungmeng Jiang isn't a lawless land. It's just a land with different laws.#And one of those laws is to forcefully domesticate the catboy coded Lan boy through any means necessary.#Completely different tangent: I drew the thumbnail for this before I did comic 134. I then realized they had the same visual gag.#So I had to space this one out so it didn't seem like I repeated the waking up joke. I keep seeing people say buck has never gotten a breakdown moment and every time I have to reply well what's all this then

#i get that it was different from eddies in the sense that eddie's was the climax of his mental health arc and led to his healing journey #but sometimes a breakdown is just a breakdown and there's no immediate relief #(not that that was the case for eddie but for us the audience we saw him truly start to heal within the next two episodes)#buck just picked up his pieces and put himself together again into a recognizable shape #until the shooting and the crane brought it crashing down #and then he existed in a self destructive limbo all of season 5 until season 6 where we're finally FINALLY starting to see him heal #but that doesnt take away from the fact that the warehouse was a full blown breakdown after three decades of slow simmering misery #and the heartbreak grief desperation in his face is one of the most devastating things this show has ever done #evan buckley #911 fox #weewoo brainrot
