i havent talked much about the new wr talon skin(s) so i will just say that i likeee his base, dont like his prestige much at all, and his bio overall disappoints me.

Stargazer Talon: It takes only a slash of the blade for Talon to shatter the fate of a sphere. Unlike the bookish scholars in the Order, Talon thinks nothing of the destruction of dimensions, for his allegiance lies with the very threat that causes it.

this is a fine bio. more good than bad. better than primal ambush for sure imo. but like, i hope this won't be a trend of 'making him a traitor' after the kat comic. i think that's why im a lil more wary of this bio off the bat. it better not set a trend bc oh god no. i would've loved at least a hint of something extra, that he was being manipulated or smth. yanno, more tie ins if we're going that route instead of just painting him as evil. but whatever.

and i DO like the fact that they mention bookish scholars as if talon ain't one of them, fits my hc very well. and the note that he doesn't care about anything else (though i dont like the implication that he doesn't care just bc he's 'evil,' instead of not caring just bc he doesn't give a shit)

overall though i find the bio a missed opportunity for talon. his whole character centers around control/the loss of it. and stargazers is a skinline focused on fate and futures like.... that's a gold mine of interesting conflict rather than just talon being a boring traitor. but alas.

🗡 if i had a nickel for every time talon's narrative focuses on interacting with horrors beyond mortal understanding, I would have two nickels (classic and stargazer.) which isn't a lot but it's nice to see there's some narrative overlap for talon across verses.

Have a picnic outside (she can’t fit inside, so any food you have together is technically a picnic)

Braid her long, coarse, golden hair (she’d braid yours back, but she doesn’t have fingers)

FUTURE Ramattra General and romantic headcanons

This is my au that I don't know what to call it so oof...

Also, im not good with headcanons either...

Warning: i add spoiler alert, so if you see red, it means it's a spoiler to part 2. You can either skip it or just read it, it not that much important... I think...

General

So we're talking about Ramattra, but in the future, where he won the War, disbanded overwatch and well murdered a few junkers and talons... yeah.... sooo

10 years since he disbanded overwatch, so right now, he's 38 years old. Five years ago was the worst years for him, for many reasons, one of them is what you read in "this is what you wanted right"... punching zenyatta faceplate, and also realizing how his rules and his actions were too cruel, blinded by power.

But he changed, still stubborn and thinking he's the right, but he isn't cruel or power hungry anymore. He's got wiser.

Height, future ramattra upgraded his body, so his normal form is 7'5 feet tall. his Nemesis form is now 9"1 feet tall

Ramattra normally always in his office. He never gets much breaks, too focused on his paperwork and leader thing.

He hates people who try to outsmart him or use his words against him. He won't hesitate to switch it back at you.

Mentioning him about Talon, he won't hesitate to get you out or shut you up, never EVER mention them.( The same goes Overwatch, but he'll show some respect)

Spoiler alert for part 2: Ramattra is the leader of the Seven Captains who help him with society, authority, and more.

His scarf has stars and constellations, but it's small... The clothes he wears are his old monk outfit but upgraded to show he's more than just a leader but a protector.

Now, the way he expressed his love language would be a word of affirmation, this man would praise his reader and compliment them when they least expected. Would love see his reader get flustered. Bonus: If you praise him for doing something, you may not see it, but he lets a few steams(aka you flustered him)

He isn't much into physical touch, so his reader might have to give him time. He also prefers to do it private. He doesn't care about his reputation. Literally, he does not, but he doesn't like people interrupting his time with his reader.

Imagine Maximilian or some random omnic/human worker entering his office while he was about to get a kiss on the forehead or having a bunch of lipstick kisses all over his faceplate. He's gonna get teased.

When it comes to dates, he prefers simple places like a cafe restaurant(probably be annoying considering people will gossip or some paparazzi ruins it) in case his reader hungry or takes them to a place where both can do stargazing and talk about different constellations.

He has a lot of patience with his reader. If his reader is angry or something, he'll patiently wait for them to calm down.

Sometimes, he will ignore his work to have some alone time with his reader. Or make some excuse to check up on tjem.

Spoiler alert: if his reader is a human, he will get pissed if one of the seven captains ever insults or uses racist slur towards his reader, especially if his reader is married to him. He's not gonna tolerate any vile words towards his spouse.

There were many things Takashi expected from when the Emperor had come to claim him as his son, and Takashi had thought he'd dealt with all the surprises he'd deal with. Then the IXth had come and he'd come with wings white as snow, and a small winged child still with the grey feathers of a young chick. His brother apparently had his wife recently killed, but the girl... he knew that look. She was scared and very overwhelmed, having already nearly scratched the face off of an Astartes.

Having noted that, Takashi decided to approach the girl carefully and gently, "Hello, I am one of your uncles, my name is Takashi" He says softly kneeling down to be more at her level.

The girl looked at him with distrust, her wings flared out and puffed in an attempt to make herself look bigger. Yet, she did come closer to him and sniffed him a bit before replying in a rather thick accent, "My name's Lilith, Ayah calls me Lili."

Takashi smiled as she came closer to him and lowered her wings, hidden as it was behind his veil. "Are you liking Terra so far?" He decides to ask

Lilith seems to mule it over for a bit before saying "Trees. I like Trees. Smell very nice. You smell different. Like...water? Salty? Don't know. Leather and ink is comforting"

Before Takashi can really make much sense of what she said, he freezes as she...crawls onto his lap and begins....kneading him? Yes, she's definitely kneading him like small kitten and she's getting fluffy again. Except it makes her look like a small fluffy pillow then anything else.

He starts to stroke her head, running his fingers through her hair, as she starts to rather loudly purr. He can't believe she's this comfortable with him. They just met...but she's...on his lap, falling asleep. It's not long before his own purrs start. Rough and deep, it's very quiet at first before he realizes that she's simply not bothered by him.

She's just accepted him as he is, not even blinking at his scars, as if it were normal to see chemical burns like his own. His fucked up purrs don't seem to bother her either, if anything she's just fluffed herself even more. She's adorable.

He wants to melt she's so cute, and yes her talons do hurt going in and out of his skin. But he's willing to take make the sacrifice of his robes, if it means she gets to be comfortable and feel safe in this new place.

Ostara, Ēostre who stemmed from Astarte is both an Ancient Germanic Goddess and one of the eight Neopagan Sabbats which make up the Pagan Wheel of the Year. The Sabbat, or Holiday celebrates the re-birth of Spring after the barren winter season. The face of the Goddess Ostara is the Virginal Maiden of Spring, the smiling celestial crescent, emerging in the sky from the black horizon of winter.

One must imagine the ancient European Winters to truly appreciate the return of this gentle fertility Goddess. To get through the barren season, families would store grains, nuts, dried meats and herbs for their survival. This preserved prosperity directly from the land equated with the sustaining of life when external conditions i.e. weather did not support it. Ēostre emerges from the rich Pagan canon of deities who came about when survival truly depended on the fertility and abundance of the land and humanitie’s harmonious relationship with it. She is and was and is a Goddess of the People, the Workers, the Creators, the Stargazers, and the Bacchanalian Merry makers. Now more than ever, in our modern age of convenience, and urban aversion to the laws of Nature’s Cyclic cornucopia, do we need the return of an abundant feminine force.

Even in modern astrology, the wheel of the zodiac starts with Aries, which correlates to March (the Sun enters Aries around the Equinox).

hi i'm only 10 million yrs late. gonna try to be less longwinded than usual cuz i wanna do stuff for iktom And hakim a bit

7. Are they a physically affectionate couple? Are they fine displaying those affections in public or do they prefer to be in private? If they're not, how do they prefer to show their love instead? What does their ideal date look like? Do they go on much?

for hakim: in private yes very much hakim has to be pried off lucanis and neve with a crowbar. but in public? i think he teases pda sometimes but he doesn't actually do it that much. like he can be generally physically affectionate in the like. kinda way that you might think is pda before you see he's also like that with harding, taash, davrin, etc. that's just how he is with ppl he cares about. but in terms of like romantic pda i think most people would be surprised to find out that neve and lucanis prolly show more pda with each other than either do with rook unless theyre specifically messing w each other (neve and hakim are the worst offenders of this, esp in the endgame where their pastime is butting in on talon business to bother lucanis)

i think hakim likes dates that get Away from everything. rooftop dinners and people watching in treviso or dock town, maybe a walk or hike in rivain. its like, low pressure and not super social like a fancy date would be, and also very intimate in its own way. just him and them and the world for a bit.

for iktom: i think he's pretty average on the physical affection spectrum, but he seems like very much an acts of service focused kinda guy. or like. just being present With his partners ig. hes not shy about pda when hes feeling it, like picking up and kissing emmrich or davrin after an exciting/scary fight or something (cue get a room noises from taash lol). he's kind of just the kinda guy to get swept up in the moment but he's not crazy touchy feely on his own outside of that.

and with the date thing oh my god iktom is such a 'i wanna show you a place' guy. he will make you hike 4 hours and itll be worth it because you Will see the most amazing natural wonders in the corners of places you thought could only hold agony. granted he hiked around the anderfels professionally since he was like 15 so it makes sense he would be like this but like. yeah. there is often also an activity involved. like sledding or stargazing or some kind of game or something. he will see something beautiful or fun and instantly catalogue it in his brain to share with his loves later.

12. Any inside jokes?

hakim neve and lucanis have to have SO many. hakim and neve especially. unfortunately i am not very good at coming up with inside joke situations for characters on the fly but i know theres been many times where hakim just says A Phrase out of context to try to get one of them to crack up in a situation where it super isn't appropriate (that being said hakim is peak class clown he has inside jokes with everyone sdfghggf)

i think iktom and emmrich keep having this thing where they think they have an inside joke but the other didnt realize this was a thing they were gonna bring up around other people and they get kinda flustered. davrin and iktom definitely have more especially both being wardens i feel like you get a ton from that alone. all the weisshaupt training stories...

(me being like im not gonna be longwinded but then i polyship everyone so i doom myself w questions like these LMAO)

hakim: i think though lucanis does see himself as having been caged or molded towards something his whole life outside of his control (and he Is), i think hakim like. admires his ability to stay kind and such despite this. in that way he's always choosing to be the person he is and that's worth something. idk if that makes sense. but lucanis' thoughtfulness was the first thing that struck out to him.. i guess this is kind of true of neve as well. esp considering neve is hardened in his game its like...despite the hardboiled detective protector of it all, she never stops caring. she has a lot of conviction idk. which is part of why they butt heads sometimes but its good that she keeps him in check. they all keep each other balanced idk. theres a lot of more surface level attraction stuff he has with both sure but hes had that with dozens of people. its that stuff that endears them to him initially beyond the attraction and he holds onto that. says some corny shit like even if we weren't together thats something about you that will always be worth loving

them with hakim though....hm. hakim has this like. infectious like. positivity isnt exactly it but kind of? he's not wholly optimistic but he's always gonna look forward. always gonna find moments of joy or humor or something that can make the tension and fear kind of melt away. idk. thinking about lucanis's 'break apart my perfectly gathered clouds of doom' line w that especially. i think neve also likes this about him but the angles a bit different (and where lucanis is almost like dumbstruck by how much this mf brightens his day neve is almost like frustrated by it cuz like! hes distracting! but like its what she needs a lot of the time + she knows it. idk.)

iktom: i think theres a certain attraction iktom has towards someone who is ultra-competent in their field for one. which i think makes sense for both monster hunter davrin and fade expert emmrich (and also why he was having a constant bi panic with the group overall LMAO) but hm. i do know he loves to listen to them yap so maybe that Is part of it cuz he wants to do what he can to care about what they care about bc they care about them so deeply ykno? with emmrich its all tied up in his compassion. hes such a romantic but not in the literal romance sense like in the way he talks about things. it brightens something in iktoms soul. and davrin has Such conviction to make something of himself and do right by the responsibilities hes been handed and it makes iktom want to do the same. theyre both such fundamentally good people to him in ways that both make them good at what they do and make iktom wanna be better

their favorite thing about iktom though? hmmmm his chest i mean. idk i think davrin admires his strength like sure in a literal way but also in a mental/spiritual way. he's a bit of an anchor for him i think.... like. idk i think about davrins dialogues about being able to change your future and stuff and how he'd see iktom as having done that more than once and they both have this like. strength is shown in protection as much as might kind of thing + thats definitely like. part of it. (also i think in some way they're both each other's examples of why it is their place as wardens is so important/meaningful idk. i love a warden power couple.) for emmrich i think like. iktom has a thoughtfulness and cleverness to him that goes a bit under the radar esp considering hes this huge tank of a guy but emmrich Does catch it and always tries to encourage him to engage/acknowledge it cuz its this wonderful spark that doesnt get enough attention! its the why everyone keeps getting taken by surprise with him, himself included! (iktom is a tanky ass warrior but hes very kinda ranger-y in some ways hes very good in nature esp in the anderfels and is consistently surprising emmrich by just how much he can teach him)

The scholars of the order could see, will and break, the threads of fate that are interlocked with Spheres; All that will and ever exist. A sworn duty to watch, learn, and record befalls all who join their ranks.

Talon has done all of this. Watched as Sphere's crumble. Learned what their superiors prioritize. And recorded every snapped thread of fate, both by the order's blades, and by the dark phenomenon encroaching toward the Stargazer's dimension. Talk of their own fated calamity is carried upon hushed lips, cryptically mentioned in archives, and continues to befall more and more worlds like a dark omen. But there is never any plan of action from the eldest scholars nor their leader as this foreboding nebula encroaches, only to continue gathering knowledge. This would not sit with Talon. They would not wait idly for this end time that their peers had already accepted would come to pass.

So they watched for the snapping threads to follow the strewn lines. Learned what the aftermath of this malignant force wrought. And recorded... Nothing. Again, and again, there was Nothing left behind. No amount of confirmed calculations or reviews of outdated records assisted in their search. Their peers in the order spoke of sharing the desire of finding answers, yet were hesitant to do much else without the command of their leader, Camille. Restless nights and gnawing uncertainty haunted Talon as their search continued and former duties were shirked. Convinced, that if they could just find what was destroying the spheres, everything else would fall into place, too. The final line drawn in the complicated diagram of the weaving universes. The precipice of revealed truth was dizzying. Desperation clamming all sensibility, willpower, morals.

Talon needed to know. By any means necessary.

If the calamity interfered with the fate is a sphere, snapping it's threads, then perhaps a way to summon it, to reveal what it was, would require manipulating a sphere's fate to be doomed. Such a cruel action would do more than go against the oath of the Stargazer's that they had sworn to. But then, if they didn't learn the mystery of the threat to them all... A single sphere left unattended, unassuming and delicate. It was almost too easy, with how little swings of a blade it took. In their mind this outrageous crime was justified; the excuse that it would have happened sooner or later, regardless of their imposition. If another order member were to discover this... But comeuppance from their colleagues is far removed from Talon's mind as they joined the sphere's collapse in action - perhaps if fate truly wanted to punish them, their end would be met within the doomed dimension.

Instead, what Talon found was something far, far worse.

Colossus that filled the sky, snuffing the cosmos of it's light in horrible revelry. Hunger never sated, the silenced cries of countless worlds burned into Talon's memory forever. Here was their answer; the threat that would destroy the Stargazer's, and bring an end to humanity. And they had aided in it's horrible cause.

To go unnoticed now, after their notable role in the destruction of this existence, would be a great loss for the possibility of more annihilations. And so a pact was formed; For their continued existence and a smidgen of the force's power and its vast knowledge, Talon would sever the fates of even more spheres, left adrift in the ocean of existence to be hunted by any monsters that lurked in those starless depths.

i am going to also ramble a liiiiil bit about the other skins in the line in connection with talon, and also go into sett a bit more and at the end i'll talk about a talsett lens. ofc this is all just my opinion blah blah im yapping. this will be a very long post.

OKAY SO FIRST OFF LET'S TALK ABOUT THE DESIGN.

I think splendor opus talon's design is... probably his weakest aspect of him... like imo his design falls into a line of 'there's too many things going on.' too many bells and whistles. i know there was some contention about his colors but i personally like them, tho i dont really like the swirly stuff he's got going on by his shoulders. and idk if i dig his anglerfish lure like hmm. his outfit is kinda a mess but that's okay i forgive him. i wish he had visible eyes always and its interesting that you can see them sometimes they're just super fucking yellow.

like wow hello!

imo his splash art is also great!! compared to his last skins, primal ambush on pc and stargazer/prestige on wr (we dont talk about the prestige) this one just gives off a better vibe to me?? the pose is better than stargazer imo.

and his EXPRESSION is so good here. it's cool neutral, and if you squint then yeah maybe he COULD be smiling just a tiny bit, or maybe he could be frowning. its so GOOD.

(once again not a fan of the wispy shit but blah blah)

in terms of model animation, like the wild rift entrance visible in the spotlight intro,, i don't like it as much? just in the starting animation, when he's on the boat all the way up to looking at the camera, i think he gives off yone energy there, not talon energy. i think its because he looks too put together. i think talon should be noticeable for his less than stellar posture lol. he's got some grime i think they should let him keep it.

wild rift offers several poses and there are several that i think do a better job. i dont think his default screams much talon, tho i understand that he would keep good posture sometimes. (i reference it while writing too.)

he breathes fire in his animated performing pose, which is fun. i think poised and the end of performing are his best poses. idk i just think dignified is a strange word to associate with talon, personally. i wouldn't even associate that with enduring blade.

extra side note about his model i love the lil thing that ties his fuckass hair back.

as a side note (but generally more unimportant compared to other apsects of his skins) the animations and in game of him is also very good, but that's a given bc of the better wr models. i love his e, and sometimes ingame he pulls out his fan for a sec? the way his cape moves almost reminds me of rakan.

EDIT: FORGOR to mention that sett is LITERALLY IN HIS RECALL??? AUGHHH

anyway, model aside, let's talk LORE/THEMATIC:

now full disclaimer there's gonna be an event ingame so if there's more lore revealed i'll have to make a summary post or smth, but we'll find out later.

lore/thematic is what i was most wary about, especially because wild rift was handling it, and their last entry (stargazer talon) was so brutally boring in terms of thematic. ive said this before but it gave him no real texture, just someone who was 'secretly working for the enemy.' when i refer to narrative texture i'm more talking about complexity. talon is such a complex character, so if there isn't a layer of complexity in his bio then its shrimply not as good. i always consider skins to be a 'translation' of the character. so painting talon as a flat villain is a poor translation of the character. there are a couple champs that suffer with this tbh, getting reduced or translated to other skinlines poorly. (yone. for example. sett too. maybe some other day i'll make a post about it going into my thought process.) all this to say that i dont really trust wild rift's quality when it comes to character interpretation? like i trust lol pc much more. i think wr gets away with things that wouldnt get through on pc. stuff like putting heels on all their women models, etc.

anyway.

i was VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED THEN BC the lore isn't actually one note or flat or leaving little room (primal ambush for example, was a filler line that didnt really give lots to chew on). but this line not only interprets talon but also gives a fair amount of texture!!!

but basically it boils down on first glance to 'sett and the others have to defeat talon (and mundo technically who is like, following behind talon) i'd assumed talon would be a villain from the teasers and i was scared of him being just a flat villain. but that's actually so opposite to the case, because once you look at talon's bio and voice lines he's a tragic and textured villain fighting to choose his own future.

there is admittedly a lot of haziness in regards to the actual world context. even the cinematic they released (here) is set very non-specifically. we know that teemo is Literally Destiny and 'is [trying to] ensure that the chosen ones walk their destined paths.' in sett's bio it mentions being chosen by the 'Paints of Providence, being chosen to take on the mantle of The Gallant Hero' and defeat talon. are the paints different from teemo? uhhhhhh... dont really know.

there are some instances in riot lore where im like 'they totally didnt mean to do that' but i think they very much intended talon to be seen as 'correct' in his motive (though prolly not his actions.) trying to achieve his goals in the wrong way.

i think from all the lore (as in the bios and voice lines) its implied that fate gives you a role to play and erases your past memories? im really not sure about that last part because sett references his ma in his legendary lines... but at the very LEAST fate gives you a part to play. and in talon's case he doesn't want to play it. he's got lines about deciding his own destiny and its fucking sick and on brand. there's even an animated emote (which i'll post separately) explicitly called 'i define who i am.' and YET he's portrayed as someone who 'needs to be defeated.'

ITS TRAGIC. in a talsett lens it really is peak enemies to likers, and FINALLY we're back to themes of control/loss of control that we have with talon's best skins (thematicwise.) and its more tragic if you push it further and think maybe teemo (destiny) knows that him 'fighting his destiny at any cost' is just him cementing himself in his predetermined role of antagonist.

HE IS FIGHTING FOR HIS OWN AGENCY LIKE. HELP.

like high noon also has the same reoccurrance, of things happening to talon outside of his control and him struggling to deal with it. enduring blade: loses his POWERS? (irelia, chill) and suddenly being cast down to mortality. i thiiiiiiiink i've said this before but thematically across (most of) his skinlines talon has two major vibes:

struggles with control

themes of being pushed too far to the point that he doesn't care if the whole place burns down/anarchy. (withered rose and blood moon are two notable examples.)

if you pair this with the idea of him loving perfection and also the idea of 'the edge' you get a tragic portrayal of someone who is just pushed too far (edge) to the point where they snap. feast or famine, all or nothing. and i think that's SUPER interesting because when you look at like, his base/lore that stuff is very much under the surface/not as evident. (imo this is because he's just not at that breaking point yet in story.)

splendor opus is thematically very good because it covers both of his major vibes. it's kinda what i was missing from the stargazer skin. (my criticism was that it's a missed opportunity to put talon in a story about fates and futures without adding his struggle with them.) it also portrays him as a foe but sympathetically, which imo is 90% of the time how it should be. high noon was: yeah he's a devil but he's going through it. enduring blade was: yeah he's a prick but he's going through it. KATARINA COMIC was: yeah he tried to kill her but he's being manipulated. she even let him live like she knows this!!! AGH

as an added note, because this is peking opera themed, i havent ruled out the idea that this is all a stage play and that irl this isn't actually happening. but idk if that can be determined yet. unless i've missed smth, we'll have to see if anything else is revealed.

in summary: i personally rate this thematic VERY high tbh, though still under like, high noon at the very least. i wish the setting was more established but the lore/theming surrounding talon is quite excellent imo, even if his design leaves stuff to be desired.

ALSO, a note on splendor opus sett:

i like his skin a lot tbh! (mythic chroma not as much) and the model/animations are great ofc, but as a legendary skin released alongside another legendary skin this is definitely the lesser of the two. the voice lines are very nondescript and add little thematically compared to talon, and he only has 1 alternate pose? (and a different alt pose on his mythic chroma) so it seems like unequal quality? strange. i think they could've added a tiny bit of doubt to his bio, personally, because a lot of sett's theming is around fighting for those who need it, and talon kinda... needs it? (well, he doesn't need it, but he could USE it.) but this is once again dipping into my opinions on how sett's character is often reduced. though talon actually DOES have a voiceline with him where he calls him stupid, so maybe its something that clicks later for him.

that being said i still like his skin. i'll take what i can get.
