I’ve started Stargate SG-1 and I love that Sam and Daniel have such similar hairstyles. They are twins. To me.

When you time travel to the 60s your name is now James T. Kirk, whether or not it was before.

I know more people who identify as women who love
Battlestar Galactica
Stargate SG1 (and the spin-offs)
Farscape
Legacy Star Trek (DS9, TNG, VOY, ENT, TOS)
Firefly
X Files
M*A*S*H (original run, and now)
Dexter
Angel
Futurama
The Killjoys
Warehouse 13
The Man in the High Castle
The Prisoner (original 60s)
Quantum Leap (original, don't know a single person who watches the new one)
Magnum P.I. (original, don't know a single person who watches the new one)
Doctor Who (original and continuation)
I've talked to men who enjoy these shows, but I've only known women who call themselves fans of the shows to be women. But every one of these shows were definitely written to attract men.

Rewatching SG1. Everyone remembers Teal'c is a fan of Star Wars but I guess we all missed him learning about vampires.
He compares the Unas to a "Vampyr" in Thor's Hammer (S1E10). At that point he's been on Earth for about half a year (next episode is six months after Daniel's return in Children of the Gods, according to Catherine Langford). It seems like no one wants to let him leave the base- his first time leaving the base is three episodes earlier in Cold Lazarus (where he displays his knowledge of Chicago. Apparently, he prefers the Sox over the Cubs).
So he's been stuck at SGC. Probably a few weeks between each mission. Best guess he's checking out library content and watching a lot of TV.
Though it's fun to speculate exactly what he's been checking out. Is he a fan of expressionist films? Has he checked out other vampire content? Is post series Teal'c a Dracula Daily subscriber?
Yeah it's just one line and O'Neil's follow up joke about having to drive a stake through the Unas's heart, but it does get me thinking about things.

Stupid question, but what's some of your favorite shows?
Not a stupid question at all, thanks for asking!
My favorite live action shows: House MD, Stargate SG1, Star Trek DS9, Bones, Doctor Who
My favorite non-fiction: RuPaul's Drag Race, PBS Space Time, Whose Line is it Anyway?
My favorite cartoons: Daria, Beetlejuice, Batman TAS, Over the Garden Wall
My favorite anime: Evangelion, Cardcaptor Sakura, Chainsaw Man, Death Note
I am, admittedly, more of a movie person! I watch shows that are not nessacarily my favorite all the time, too. Right now I'm watching Prison Break, and earlier this year I watched Supernatural and The Leftovers and I wouldn't say they're my absolute favorite. I like movies because I can easily watch them more than once to really study them, and they tend to have a more consistent direction. For a lot of shows directors can change, seasons can get cut short, etc etc, so as the show is coming out they can't really go back and edit something established earlier that no longer fits in with the story they're telling. But with a movie, once it's out, it's out, and the better ones tend to be self contained complete stories. Maybe that's why I never really liked the MCU. Because a lot of them are trying to tell this one big cohesive story but it suffers the same risk tv shows do when it comes to consistency and external factors that may force them to change things.

Nine people I want to get to know better
Thank you for the tag @clintbeifong
Last song - Half Life by Livingston, I like a few of his songs.
Favourite colour - burgundy or red in general
Currently watching - I’m rewatching Farscape, but also after seeing all the posts about Star Trek: Prodigy I have started watching an episode of that every evening and I am loving it.
Last movie - Deadpool and wolverine, I was a little disappointed in it to be honest.
Sweet/spicy/savoury? - I’m more of a savoury and spicy kind of girl, I do like some sweets though especially if it’s caramel.
Relationship status? - not really looking for anything.
Current obsessions? - Sanctuary, always Sanctuary, I have loved that show since I first watched it when I was 16. But also Farscape, Star Trek next gen, Star Trek voyager and stargate sg1.
Last thing you googled? - I had google spell out *definitely* 😅
No pressure tagging @arachnias-bride @ness029 @demigodofhoolemere @sarcasticsciencefictionwriter @truedairship @sweetteaandpie @janzan @chartreuseian @hallofhelios

SG1: To get to an alternate reality on purpose we had to set off a bomb inside a wormhole, and it caused a cascading effect across multiple realities.
DS9: Popping over to another reality to kidnap people and children is easy and safe, and we will likely be repeating this plot approximately every other season.

... I've always heard of the apparent lore going on in Starset songs (A band I've become clinically addicted to years ago, even now because I've always had a fascination with space themes, and sci-fi (even though fantasy is my fave.. The combo of both though? It's delicious). Honestly probably because my dad watched star wars all the time, and because he started watching SG1 then, Stargate Atlantis my love for the sci-fi genre in particular has been renewed. I don't know how I got bored of the genre? But I think it's because most sci-fi I ended up seeing was kinda just repetitive ideas of guys in space suits, remaining on a ship 24/7. It's hard to explain).
I remember wanting to make characters based off the names of the Albums, however i never fully liked the base concept I had for their story. (It was a dystopian world concept i barely remember at all now.)
Either way, besides realizing Starset has, lore.. Even though I already knew about it, at least vaguely. (Based from a comment on Perfect Machine, and Monster I believe.) It seems like Carnivores (honestly this should've been obvious to me, but I'm a slow processor that gets confused easily and misinterprets information or the implications and points of what I'm told.) are an actual thing in the lore? I gotta read further into it. I have no idea if these Carnivores are human, or something else. In I think more than one song, Carnivores are mentioned. In the song Antigravity, there's the mention of "and far below, the carnivores are looking up to where I soar".
Besides realizing Starset has, a shit ton of lore (it's shown via their music videos, which again how did I not realize this.. They play out like a movie. A very interesting one.) BUT, I've heard apparently Starset has BOOKS?? WITH THE LORE?
Man I don't feel like reading a shit ton of lore but I definitely want to jump into this like a ball pit, I've been desperate for years to actually know what's going on in Starset's music videos, besides the meaning behind the songs for YEARS after I read vague comments on the meaning behind Perfect Machine, etc. So yeah I knew and didn't know...? That or I didn't expect there to be so much lore.. Somehow.
But god fuck, I want those books 😭

Star Trek SNW
Just started watching Strange New Worlds and really enjoying it! I’ve only seen 3 episodes so far though. Some thoughts:
I love the visuals!
The actor who plays Spock reminds me of Leonard Nemoy, especially his voice.
I am really enjoying the characters we know and love from TOS like Spock, nurse Chapel and Uhura. The new ones are equally great, though why do we have a ‘StacheKirk? 🤣
The musical communication thing in the comet episode was pretty cool. And the virus transmitted by light in episode 3. I figured the first officer HAD to be augmented or something. It was brought to my attention that Guinan is also an Ilyirian.
The title of episode 3, Momento Mori, has occurred in 2 other TV shows: X Files and Stargate SG1.
