Headcanons: How Tom Paris would comfort you after a nightmare
Headcanons: How Tom Paris would comfort you after a nightmare
Pairing: Tom Paris x Gn!Reader
Requested By: Anonymous
Warnings: Nothing really, except general nightmare related topics
A/N: I have not watched Voyager for quite some time, so sorry this is a bit short.
-
Before you and Tom were in a relationship, he knew vaguely that you occasionally suffered from nightmares.
He would offer some advice of how he would deal with nightmares on the uncommon occasion he would have them.
One evening when he couldn't sleep that he wandered into the mess hall and saw you sitting alone, clearly tired, and a bit shaken.
He came to talk to you and listened to you talk about your nightmares.
Tom felt bad that he wasn't aware of how much they effected you, and told you if you ever needed an ear, or someone to bring you back from the fear and adrenaline, to come to his room.
You thanked him, but weren't sure if you really wanted to worry him with your problems
But one night, you were having bad nightmares you couldn't seem to shake. You felt anxious, like you couldn't get out of your own head.
So you found yourself wandering down the corridors, and instead of ending up in the mess hall, you ended up outside his room.
It was the middle of the night, so you were worried he would be annoyed, but he welcomed you with a soft smile and kind voice and comforted you, talking to you until the thoughts of your nightmare faded.
Eventually you fell asleep in his bed, and he didn't dare wake you.
He ended up watching you for a while before falling asleep on his couch.
Any movement he would wake up, fearing you were having another nightmare.
He wouldn't tell you about this, because he knew you'd feel guilty, but he didn't mind, he kind of enjoyed having you around, and caring for you.
It became a sort of routine for you when you had bad nightmares to go to his room, or message him that you couldn't sleep.
He would often come to your room to see if you were alright, even if you told him he did not have to.
This was a catalyst to what would lead to your relationship.
He would help you find teas, treatments, other forms of sleep aid, that would help you sleep better at night.
But of course they didn't always work.
When you eventually moved into the same room once your relationship became more serious, he was very aware of when you were having a nightmare.
He would never force you awake, but would gently caress your face, hair or arms soothing you softly until the nightmare faded, or you gently woke up.
He would hold you in his arms, pressing soft kisses to your head an cheeks.
Tom would talk to you, often about nothing in particular as he just wanted to sooth and distract you until you drifted back to a comfortable sleep.

Chakotays mama, tananka. I’ve been thinking about her for months cause a while ago I remembered an old interview with RB and how he discussed that he wished they’d talked about her more on voy :(. I’m fixing up my lore for her and will post soon, but here’s some basic info from a post a made last year about her.
She is incredibly intelligent and graduated high school by 16.
She went on to further her education and received her bachelor’s and master’s in history with a minor in psychology.
Her role on trebus is a historian, scriber, genealogist, and teacher (she teaches maya-glyphs and history).
She has a personal library that she allows other members of the community to use. Through this library she introduces chakotay to figures like John Kelly which sparks his interest in space travel.
Chakotay and Tananka enjoy spending time reading together, and it is their favorite activity. (He’s a mamas boy hehe. They have a better bond than he does with his father, but they still have their disagreements.)

i’ve been thinking about getting into bookbinding for the summer so consider-
spock doing bookbinding! ( bc i feel like it’s something he’d enjoy plus amanda is a teacher so i think she’d get him to try a bunch of crafts and skills in general)
he takes it back up at some point between TMP and TWOK and starts binding copies stuff for jim for his birthday because he likes paper books but can’t always find physical antique copies.
also consider spock binding a copy of alice in wonderland as a first attempt as a kid and then finding it between TSFS and the one with the whales during their collective detour on vulcan (Amanda kept it).
i feel like fancy bookbinding in general fits the TOS movies vulcan aesthetic so yeah that’s my thoughts <3

It's time to bring out the big gif guns.....[by the very brilliant @itberice]
Chapter 40 of The Captain and Her Captain is now posted
[Janeway/Seven, post Picard, read from the beginning here on AO3],
and includes a Star Wars reference.
Chapter 41 will be posted in 4 weeks time as real life is being extremely problematic (by which I mean eliminating any and all writing and thinking time) and I need a little breathing space and writing to remain a joy and escape not a pressure.
May the Fourth be with you.... ;-)

When you're a kid and watch Voyager then see Star Trek: Generations when it comes out on VHS and are like
TUVOK ACTOR TIM RUSS IS IN THIS
But then you kinda forget about it and later Voyager does this
And you spend years thinking they linked the two and wanted us to pretend that background guy had pointed ears all along but then years later you rewatch all the movies and Tuvok isn't there on Excelsior in Star Trek VI it was actually Generations and the identical looking Enterprise-B that Human Tuvok was serving on and the link was purely in your head cos you're stupid.
Oh well.
