so normally i'm in the 'please stop stuffing one million legacy characters in the new series' camp but it truly is a missed opportunity that it seems only the doctor joins janeway in on the chakotay rescue mission because i feel like we're supposed to parallel the kids' devotion to each other with janeway's devotion to rescue chakotay but it was never just them, there was always an entire family of them that they can't be whole without

You know what would've made the whole "don't let yourself be guided by emotions" scene between Tysess and Janeway even funnier? If Tysess had served on the Voyager during their time in the delta quadrant.

Just imagine, that guy had to watch his captain and first officer live with the most sexual and romantic tension in the whole galaxy for seven years.

Then, years later, he gets to serve under Janeway again and he thinks that since he is the first officer, there won't be that problem again. Just for the missing ship to show up just within their reach and the whole thing starts all over again just somehow even worse.
