Yep, let me just platonically spend years searching for this one missing person that I platonically care for even though there are a million other things I could be doing.
While he platonically flirts with every version of me that exists.
And when my boss says to knock off my obsession with this person that I platonically care for, I’ll just hang up on him, because no one can stand in the way of me and my platonic friend.
And when I finally find this person I have bent space and time for, we will platonically hug for way too many Mississippis while he platonically rubs my back.
And I’ll platonically put my hand over his heart while he gazes platonically into my eyes and tells me how much he thought about seeing me again.
And we’ll platonically be unable to stop touching each other for the rest of the day.
And we’ll platonically hold hands while giving each other a completely platonic look.
Because we platonically care about each other.
That’s all.
#me when people say prodigy kept them platonic#star trek prodigy#prodigy spoilers#prodigy season 2#janeway x chakotay#back on my bullshit#honestly who the fuck treats platonic friends this way#I know Janeway touches everyone#but this is a lot even for her

Star Trek Prodigy is just another one of those shows that loves the Star Trek franchise, and I will DIE on the hill that it's hands down the most gorgeous show in the franchise.
The fact that they brought back cetacean ops from Lower Decks is just incredible.
The fact that a... ahem.... mysterious returning character from Next Generation is a central figure for the plot is just so heartwarming and sweet and I love that they made him an insane dork!
The fact that the whole show is a Voyager spinoff, one of the LEAST popular Trek shows, is possibly my favorite part of the whole thing.
Anyways, Season 2 was really good, better than Season 1, and honestly Season 1 was way better than I remembered it being on a rewatch. Very much recommend if you want to see some of the most imaginative sci-fi out there! Please watch it so we get a season 3 ;-;

About Prodigy and J/C
So, first off, the new season of Star Trek Prodigy is one of the most phenomenal seasons of television I've ever watched, so please proceed and watch the hell out of it so that we can perhaps get a continuation.
With that said, proceed with caution, for there are minor spoilers ahead.
.
.
Regarding what we got (or rather, didn't get) in terms of j/c shipping, I have read several opinions by several people who, apparently, feel betrayed by the promises made by the showrunners, and I hear those complaints.
However, hear me out.
First of all with regards to the actual content of the ship present in the season, I have to say that it's rendered pretty clear that, no matter the type of the relationship, these two people are one another's most important human. This is evident not only in the way others perceive Janeway's emotional attachment as detrimental to her duty as Admiral, but also in the way the characters themselves talk about one another.
For example, Janeway refers to Chakotay as her "number one", and given that she never used that term with other first officers, the phrase seems to convey something different. The hologram Janeway is all that stands between Chakotay and a possible descent to madness during his isolation. In a flashback, he even hands her the rock with the spiral pattern drawn on it, refering to her in no uncertain terms as "home". The list goes on.
But it's not just that, and the fact remains that most fans of the j/c dynamic were looking for a more outspoken romantic tension, a kiss, or a confession. And I understand the frustration that it didn't happen, however keep in mind that the second season had been written in its entirety when news of the show's cancellation hit the press, and the writers were evidently planning ahead with no intention to wrap things up this early (there's also a point to be made about writers not having to abide by the dystopian laws of modern streaming, where there is always the fear of cancellation looming over your head and interfering with the organic development of the plot, but that's another can of worms.)
One final point to be made is about the Hagemans and the nature of the work they usually do. Anyone who has ever watched their work on Tales of Arcadia will tell you they love their romantic sub plots, touching on the love lives of teens and older adults alike. Tales of arcadia is perhaps unique in how much, how delightfully, and how unpredictably it ships main and secondary characters alike, and I cannot believe the people responsible for such a colorful selection of romantic subplots would shy away from dealing with the most notable semi-canon ship to come out of nineties Trek.
The bottom line is, the show is beautiful as is. And hope is not lost on the j/c front. Romantic or not, they are canonical soulmates. And the nature of the showrunners ' previous works makes me believe that there were plans to make the ship canon further down the road.
All the more reason for the rest of us to try and secure a continuation.

Dal really had one (1) pep talk from Chakotay, was like “ love means happiness is her in the captain’s chair and you serving under her”, and decided that was going to be his new personal prime directive. Now he’s flourishing: unbothered, moisturized, staying in his own lane.
#star trek: prodigy#prodigy season 2#janeway x chakotay#dal from prodigy#the parallels they smacked the audience with all season between jc and dal and gwyn were really a nice way of making it clear#they were not leaving jc ambiguously important but very explicitly framing it was capital r romance#like this is where you could get to kids#dal x gwyndala

Following especially the latest season of Prodigy, I would just like to give a shoutout to Chakotay.
I actually liked him even back in Voyager, although he could definitely have been written better in that show. But then Prodigy came, and despite his limited screen time, that show did him SO well I can still barely believe it. And no, I'm not talking about how unexpectedly hot he looks in a cowboy hat ... That's the bonus cherry on top if anything.
If Prodigy proved anything (besides that it is now one of my favorite Star Treks of all time) is that Chakotay's earned that captain's chair, and so, so much respect.
I love how we get to see him be the selfless, dedicated, strong leader that he is and has always been, entirely disconnected from Janeway or any other legacy character. Now more than ever Chakotay and Janeway are just equally hardcore, badass captains who would give their lives for the greater good in an instant, and that's part of what makes them so great. Their equality, despite the different ranks, really came across in Prodigy more than ever before, which I loved to see.
Honestly, whenever I see Chakotay dismissed as a doormat or "best off as second in command" I just kind of rage a little. Even back in Voyager, it was pretty clear to me that he wasn't (for example, some people seem to forget that he was a captain originally and only became a first officer for the good of the Maquis crew.)
And now that we have Prodigy ... Even though we don't really see much of it on screen (which is a shame), I like reminding myself how, since the launch of the Protostar, he went through 12 (!) more years of (self-)sacrifice and (leadership) hell and managed to come out of that seemingly stronger and more certain of his place and himself than ever.
Even the events of "The Last Flight of the Protostar" aside ... Just think about how many life-altering, defining, difficult choices and sacrifices he had to make in those 12 years.
In the timeline that was averted, he sacrificed his only shot to get back home through the wormhole (the Protostar) to save the Federation from the weapon on board.
In the new timeline, he sacrificed himself by choosing to stay on that planet where he and Adreek landed, also for the sake of protecting the Federation from the weapon on the Protostar.
Chakotay was technically stranded in the Delta Quadrant twice (once with Voyager, once with the Protostar), and despite how abysmally things went on his first command, he never sacrificed his integrity or his dedication to Starfleet's values. He becomes a little grumpy over 10 years in solitude, but honestly, who wouldn't? And then the first thing he does after being rescued is take over Voyager-A and continue his service ... That's some dedication if I've ever seen it. I think he may have wanted to prove something there ... and honestly, he couldn't have succeeded more.
And no, he did not "teach" Dal that his place was "the second in command" ... On the contrary, he very likely showed Dal through his own competence and perseverance that Dal himself was simply not ready yet for such a responsibility.
He's just an extraordinary captain who has gone through things and made choices that very few others could have made. Choices like sending the Protostar back in time, that had the fate of the entire Federation depending on it.
I adore Prodigy in general, but one of the things I adore the most is that it finally shows us more of why Chakotay is not second to Janeway or to anyone. He's his own leader, his own character, and his own captain who deserves so much more acknowledgment.
Although, I still feel that we were robbed of some of Chakotay's best moments by not showing us the arrival of the Protostar on Solum and later the events preceding its (presumably) emergency landing on that planet where it stayed for ten years (honestly, I'd love for future Prodigy seasons to have maybe a flashback episode or two about the Protostar's maiden voyage and Chakotay's arrival on Solum and maybe later on that planet where he was stranded.)
Anyway, long rant over ... All I wanted to say was that Chakotay has more than earned the command of Voyager-A; seeing him in that chair made me very happy, I won't lie.
And I really hope if/when Prodigy gets more seasons, he'll be a more major character because he deserves a more central role.

I’m a little over halfway through season two of Prodigy.
This show is a delight!
It’s almost as if 20 episode seasons allow time for true character development! And allows us to get to know the characters better and care what happens to them!
I’m in my forties and I just shed tears over them finding the Bird Man and laying him to rest on this animated “kid’s show”. And those kids giving Chakotay hope again. I was also genuinely surprised and delighted to see Wesley Crusher! 💖
If you’re a Trekkie and you’re not watching Prodigy, you’re missing out!
Also I had a major crush on Chakotay back when Voyager first aired and animated DILF Chakotay can get it. 🥵😍😂

Chakotay's first command, he gets lost for 7 years in the Delta Quadrant
Chakotay's second command, he gets marooned for 10 years on an out-of-the-way planetoid.
So of course, they give him a third command

Here is the deal. I was watching prodigy season two and I was thinking back about how gwyn is implied to be some type of clone.
That kinda always bothered me because gwyn never really looked like her father to me. Despite the sex difference, that can be easily explained through genetic manipulation, their features never seem to match. But then I saw Something.
Gwyndala and Ascencia have the exact same nose pattern!
They also share eye color and have similar ears (However you could also make the case she also shares those with her father)
But in the second season it becomes clear that nobody else shares their nose pattern! (It could be that some do share the pattern but its not clear since their nose are covered up)
So could it be that Ascencia is gwyn mother is some way?
Ok, hear me out. We don’t know alot about Gwyn’s creation but we do know she is artificially made. But what if instead of being a clone of Ilthuran, she is a combination of Ascencia’s and Ilthuran’s dna together. Or even crazier Gwyndala is a clone of Ascencia.
I’m not entirely convinced that could be the case but I don’t want to dismiss it entirely.
I know there isn’t alot of information about the Vau N'akat so ‘they have the same nose pattern’ isn’t really strong evidence. It is a possibility that female Vau N’akat just tend to look like that. That’s why it is unlikely that this is true but look at them.
Look at them!
Gwyn looks to me like a perfect blend of these two.
I don’t know how the theory would fit with all the time shenanigans, frankly I barely grasp what happend in the show. But i will try to fit it more in the narrative in the future.
Also I don’t know if somebody theorized the same thing but I needed to get my thoughts out about this.
#im on vacation now with less then stellar wifi but omg#i felt like a god for noticing that detail but i now feel like everyone is going to say that they noticed it too ;-;#star trek#star trek prodigy#gwyndala#asencia#gwyndala’s mom theory#prodigy season 2#star trek prodigy theory#prodigy spoilers#star trek prodigy spoilers
