I guess this has been commented on ad nauseam but I was rewatching The Disease earlier and I just love Janeway's hesitance in this scene:

The pause when she says "your feelings for Tal are no different than mine for... what, the man I was engaged to marry?" But of course she's definitely not thinking about Mark there. The pause is just a moment for her to try to find in her mind another example of being in love with someone, because she was thinking about Chakotay from the second Harry posed the first question.

And when Harry continues and asks about the hypospray to make herself stop loving him, this is the face that Janeway makes:

This woman is not thinking about her ex-fiancé. She's thinking what would it be like to be able to simply make her feelings for Chakotay go away, so that she wouldn't have to fight them, to act professionally, every time they are together. And yet, she knows that Harry has a point, and she wouldn't take that hypospray: her feelings for Chakotay, and any pain they might bring with them, are too precious to simply erase them.

She loves the man fully, with everything that might entail.

Good sci-fi is almost like religion in that it raises way more questions than it will ever answer and leaves you chewing on drywall. And that's the good part. Good sci-fi is just philosophy for weird people

I had intended on posting this on the 29th and forgot. Oops. What kind of Trek fan am I? A forgetful one it seems. Threshold won an emmy for outstanding makeup but is an episode hated by many Trek fans. I loved this cartoon version of a part of the episode living on YouTube channel: Gazelle Automations called "Star Trek: Voyager: The Animated Series" go give it a watch.
