I took a quick look at who got the main writing credits (I was too lazy to check the details, because sometimes there's like "dialogue by" or "written by"). Simply because of my hard time believing that their "actually the scripts were finished before s1 aired" really fits.
2x09 Alex and Christian 2x08 Alex, Christian, Amanda 2x07 Alex, Christian, Amanda 2x06 Alex and Christian 2x05 Alex, Christian and Kristina Felske 2x04 Alex, Christian and Graham McNeill 2x03 Alex, Christian and Henry G.M. Jones 2x02 Alex, Christian and Nick Luddington 2x01 Alex, Christian, Amanda
1x09 Alex, Christian and Conor Sheehy 1x08 Ben St. John, Mollie Bickley & Christian Linke 1x07 Alex, Christian and Nick Luddington 1x06 Alex, Christian and Conor Sheehy 1x05 Alex, Christian and Amanda 1x04 Alex, Christian and David Dunne 1x03 Alex, Christian and Ash Brannon 1x02 Alex, Christian and Nick Luddington 1x01 Alex, Christian and Conor Sheehy
It's interesting that there's actually more consistently in writers compared to season 1 (ie 7 cooks in the kitchen instead of 9). And it's interesting that in season 1 Christian and Alex probably weren't brave enough to write an episode without outside help, but here they take solo writing credit twice.
I looked up Conor Sheehy to see how come they didn't write for season 2 anymore. Turns out their only other credit is for video game writing (for Legends of Runeterra, which is a card game). So maybe the episodes where Conor is the third writer can be seen as "solo" Alex and Christian episodes as well because Conor wasn't an experienced tv writer either?

Jess Watches // Sat 27 Apr // Day 213 Synopses & Favourite Scenes & Poll
RRR (2022)
A fearless warrior on a perilous mission comes face to face with a steely cop serving British forces in this epic saga set in pre-independent India.
The power of male friendship! As an English person who isn't patriotic, it was refreshing to see British colonizers depicted as the entitled evil entity they were/are. And the queer-coding of the two leads was delightfully unexpected. Epic choreography and cinematography throughout. A film worthy of the 3hr length.
(I thought the audio sync was weirdly out in the Hindi dub because I didn't learn until after that it was originally in Telugu, and Netflix didn't offer it as an option??)
The Artful Dodger (with L) 1x02 Blessings of St. Coccyx
Trying to steal 500 sovereigns, Dodger and Fagin witness Darius in a compromising situation.
How do any of their patients survive in such a filthy hospital? The stench alone should be enough of a warning sign. But it's an intriguing setup and I like all the main characters. So hopefully they don't need medical treatment any time soon. (*looks very concerned in Belle's direction*) Also, The mattress hitting him in the face with each thrust while he hides under the bed of a man he was trying to steal from. Poetic cinema.
Six Feet Under (rw) 2x06 In Place of Anger
While at a boat party, a drunken man falls overboard. The family tries to convince his widow to use their funeral services.
Adam Scott AND Patricia Clarkson guest starring. What a treat. Every scene in which Ruth tries to connect and bond but falls short breaks my heart. Learning more about her history with her sister to further understand why she is the way she is makes me want to hold her, gently stroke her hair, and tell her she's a good person who deserves nice things.

PHEW, this thread. Ok I have thoughts.
Tagging folks tagged above: @moodyeucalyptus @espumado @tinfishlove @ambeauty @tvfantic87 @currymanganese @thoughtfulchaos773 @brokenwinebox @glitterslag @angrymilkshakecat
So I noticed something in 3x10 Forever at about 19:40. A shot spliced in there that didn't seem to make sense to me at the time but with this thread, I've got some clarity on...I think.
At the above timestamp, Carmy is having flashbacks as he stares at Chef David Fields at the Ever funeral service. He's just had a flash back of Mikey saying "what'll we call this place?" in reference to The Bear and then the next shot is this:
Tumblr media
Before I look at the significance of this still, I wanna work through some things. Please be patient lol:
@vacationship I wanna maybe take what you're proposing and suggest that Carm's decision to date Claire wasn't just a way for him to go back to the past before Mikey died but also a way for him to stay connected to Mikey after Mikey's death.
Mikey was non-communicative with Carm for a while before his death, right? Its still not clear to me for how long that was happening but it had clearly started by the time of 2x06 Fishes because Carm asks his brother at the beginning of that episode if it would it kill Mikey to answer his phone. So lets say from that point in time, their communication falls apart. If that's the case, then there's three things that are canon that we know Mikey said or expressed that he wanted Carmy to do before he died:
Let it rip with opening a restaurant, The Bear;
Be with Claire, the wizard whose glasses have come off (lol); and
Inherit The Beef (via a will that Mikey would have prepared before his death).
Carmy is ticking off these boxes. He's done all three.
Now The Beef and The Bear are beautiful things that gave Carmy relationships that also continue his connection with Mikey. But not in a way that he can recognise (probably because his too-literal, neurodivergent ass didn't hear Mikey say, "I want you to maintain healthy happy relationships with those who you'll meet at The Beef"). But Mikey did tell Carmy to pursue a relationship with Claire. And now Carmy is using his relationship with Claire, that Mikey told him to get, as a substitute for his relationship with Mikey. A reverse-engineered haunt to keep his brother in his life.
Now about the still I've included here and why I thought it was relevant: that shot is of Claire by the fridge as Carmy inadvertently breaks up with her + a shot of Carmy's face. The shot of Carmy's face is from 3x01 Tomorrow when he gets the phone call from Nat that Mikey's passed away. In both these instances, Carm's relationship with Mikey (the one he had when Mikey was alive and the one Carm has with Mikey after death via the reverse-engineered haunt) has been severed. And THIS is what scares the shit out of him. He’s scared of losing Mikey (someone please send this man to a grief counsellor).
This is why he finds it so hard to say sorry to Claire. Because it means saying sorry to Mikey, for not trying harder, for not being there and not knowing the depth of struggle that Mikey was contending with before he passed.
But as Carm goes into the fridge in 3x09 and whispers sorry to his phone, as Claire resets a bone in a hospital somewhere in Chicago by snapping it back into place, somewhere in there, I feel like Carmy has started to rid himself of Mikey's ghost. He certainly has begun that process by the end of the episode when he sets down Mikey's funeral service card of St John the Apostle next to Claire's scrunchy before heading off to Ever.
ok damn didn't mean for this to get that long but I've got thoughts on grief and how this show deals with it is magic to me.

So has anyone noticed this or am I tripping? I may be tripping, but the season starts with L (and we sees trains several times all over), and during the ep1 we see Carmy happy in a plantation and Syd under a tree… All the Faks did this season was talk about being haunted, all season, all of them... And Claire only speaks whispering and always says everything is fine… Like, seriously, am I tripping a lot???
