The Chandrilan spring breeze had tousled up his hair beyond fixing with a light brush, and his pristine white clothes were covered in a mixture of dirt, dust and grease, with a few spots dotted about his face. He cared little for the state of his appearance, such was the disposition of most young children. All that mattered to him there and then were the tools in his small hands, ones taken from his father's toolbox in the garage, and the broken utility droid lying in the grass that he was intent on fixing all by himself whilst he sat under the mid-morning sun.

Perhaps more normal children would be at the park or playing with friends, but even at the age of four, Ben Solo knew something was weird about him. He didn't know precisely what and didn't think to ask lest his parents became alarmed that their son was too strange. Yet, he did know it was abnormal to hear the rushing waters of a river miles away or the flutter of butterfly wings. Sometimes, voices that weren't there spoke to him, and he questioned whether it was the wind, the dead or a creature. It had occurred to him that he should be fearful of the odd abilities, but the fear never came. Instead, Ben simply accepted what was somehow a part of himself as the earth did the rain.

His grandfather sat a few feet away, seemingly curious to see if his grandson could fix the droid. The two generations existed in comfortable silence without the need to exchange words, and Ben was far too busy for idle chatter. All he had left was to screw a final panel back on, and theoretically, the droid would spring back to life. Except the screwdriver Ben brought outside, which had disappeared from its spot beside him. He looked about for the tool, discovering its location a few feet away, probably blown afar by the breeze. No matter. He pushed his hand outward, and after a few seconds, the screwdriver trembled before rocketing into his hand as if it were the easiest feet to accomplish.

Ben returned to fixing his droid, and that's when his grandfather finally spoke, asking him a question that both perplexed him and made sense, for Grandpa Anakin was weird, too. But he didn't know how or why. Ben looked over at him briefly, shrugging his narrow shoulders in response before answering with a simple different.
