you open yourself up to the devil by celebrating Halloween in the same way you open yourself up to the devil by celebrating St. Paddy's or Mardi Gras.
if you play ouija or try voodoo, you open yourself up to the devil. if you dress in a slutty costume or take psychedelics in a cemetery, you open yourself up to the devil.
likewise, if you get wasted on Guinness in downtown Savannah, you open yourself up to the devil.
if you twerk half-naked for plastic beads on Bourbon Street, you open yourself up to the devil.
these kinds of bacchanalia are by no means inherent to the holidays in question, and in fact, are extremely recent perversions of traditions which go back centuries. Centuries of Christian history.

Ephesians 4:31-32
"Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

Chickens likely domesticated themselves the same way wolves did which is basically by hanging around our settlements and eating our refuse.
Living with chickens in this sort of way was likely happening way before the estimated times of 8,000- 10,000 years ago. The relationship was likely already long established it was just during that time some chickens started developing smaller/weaker adrenal glands which caused them to become much easier to raise and handle which eventually lead to the domesticated chicken we know of today (and how that happened so suddenly is a completely different but very interesting topic)
Also due to this you could argue that there isn't any true wild red jungle fowl left untouched and uninfluenced by humans anymore. Not only due to constant cross breeding with domestic chickens but because red jungle fowl are still doing what their ancestors did in their current range, if there is a town or village nearby the bravest junglefowl will still choose to intermingle with the village and eat the refuse, agricultural byproducts, and waste. People will still catch and care for these "wild" birds like their ancestors did. This isn't to say we shouldn't try our best to preserve the wild red jungle fowls wild genetics, their should be populations left to be in their natural environment but it's likely they are not truly same wild birds they once were thousands of years ago and honestly that's OK because thats how its been for thousands of years.

Listen. LISTEN, the longer I spend in the academic world, I am more convinced that describing Judaism and Jews as a religion/ethnic grope/ethnoreligion is unhelpful outside of Academic circles.
The best way to explain Judaism is using the tribe model. A lot of times Judaism is a community first and a religion second, i.e., your level of religiousness is rarely a thing that alienate you from the community.
Think of other tribes, like the Sámi, Aboriginal Australians, Māori, Yurok, Inuit ect. Each have their own unique religion, but we do not think of them as a religious group, because the tribal identity is more important, and the religion is considered part of the culture, not the opposite.
IMORTANT SIDENOTE: I am aware that many of those tribes, and other tribes have a big chunk of Christians in them, usually more Christians than those who follow the indigenous religion of the tribe. BUT for the sake of discussion, I am equating Judaism to the section that does follow the indigenous religion of the tribe.
So, despite the fact that the religious structures of Judaism is very integral to Judaism, it is partly because of the community based focus of Judaism. The most basic example is the Minyan, the fact that prayer is preferred to be done in a group. Or the fact that the Sader is meant to be a celebrated in a group. and so on.
SO, ethnoreligion is a great academic term, but for outside that world? A tribe is a much better term to explain Judaism.

if one more person tries to claim that the oh hellos are no longer christian i am going to lose my shit
#they are no longer EVANGELICAL and they don't associate themselves with the organized church#but like ... the whole anemoi series is about deconstructing their faith and coming back around to a new faith? still in god??#they don't just use christian themes. they are christian. if u think that they are NOT christian then u are not understanding their music#like .. i am not religious so this isn't coming from a place of needing them to be recognized as gospel music#if u want to interpret their music differently then go ahead!!!#but straight up. we KNOW what those albums are about because they have TOLD us. & they're deeply intertwined with tyler and maggie's faith#going around spreading the idea that they aren't christian at all is so so so so so so fucking stupid#it's fine if u don't want to think the songs are about christianity but then don't pretend u know what they mean!!!!!#don't pretend u understand all the albums while claiming they're not christian because they ARE!! that's like the whole point!!!!#idk. whatever. just feeling some type of way about people like refusing to use absolutely any critical thought#yes the oh hellos are extremely progressive. no they are not evangelical. yes they try to be subtle about their faith & make music that#non-christians can also listen to & relate deeply to#but making up lies about their personal lives is like. ok whatever. but ur missing the whole point of the albums then. don't pretend ur not#please someone tell me they understand what i'm trying to say here#like this isn't coming from a christian perspective it's coming from a frustrated album-listener perspective#the oh hellos

Do you think lgbt people need the gospel? I know you said you just disagree and will still be friends while they make their choices! I think that’s lovely! But should we still give gay people the gospel if they think getting it is homophobic? :(
Yes! We ALL need the Gospel and LGBT people are no different. Everyone has sinned and deserve Hell and need Jesus to save them, me especially. We should give the Gospel to everyone who will hear! So yes, we should give LGBT people the Gospel, even if they think it's homophobic. What I mean by I'll not shove my beliefs is that I won't try to force people to believe in something they won't believe in. If I tell someone the Gospel and they choose not to believe it, it's not my duty to force the Gospel on someone who isn't ready to accept it. If someone declines the Gospel, that's between them and God, my job is to pray for them and love the.

a somewhat under-acknowledged premise in the whole USAmerican Evangelical Ethos™ is the fact that a good number of these people genuinely believe that being constantly oppressed is an inalienable part of their existence as a religious group.
like legitimately this is why so many of them throw hissy fits whenever there's legislation that separates church and state or extends rights to religious or social minorities that don't line up with them. they believe that they are ontologically oppressed in every situation and therefore start grasping at straws to explain how, even in a society built by and upon their own values and acolytes, they are still the victims. all of a sudden it's "oppression" to have to call someone their chosen name and pronouns or walk past somebody else's house that has a pride flag or not force their students to engage in prayer in a public facility.
"this is just as the bible prophesied! we are being persecuted!" they cry when they are told to please follow science-based health regulations during a pandemic.
"you are trying to silence us, you followers of satan!" they say when they are forbidden from harassing random women outside planned parenthood.
"this is a conspiracy to destroy christian values in the usa!" they proclaim when they are required to accept the presence of visible religious minorities in communal spaces.
if evangelicals cease to be oppressed for their faith, then the entire house of cards that their denomination is built on will collapse. therefore, they must condition themselves to twist any inconvenience to them into oppression, even if they are the ones with the clear advantage in the situation.

1 Corinthians 10:13
"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

I was just thinking about how I was introduced to dip and pip back in high school and how my 'friend' group were a bunch of extremely Christian girls. They would wholeheartedly argue over how dip and pip were clearly very straight and how crazy it must be to be their girlfriends considering all the crazy fans online shipping Dan and Phil together. All while my closeted ass was sitting there reading the most devilish phan fiction and shipping them to hell and back. I wonder if they know :) I would have loved to be a fly on the wall of them finding out that not only are Dan and Phil gay as shit, but are very much gay for each other :)))
