re: friend ghosting; online fandom friendships

I've made some fandom friends here and there, even meeting with someone through twitter although I ended up moving away so we stopped keeping in touch.

Then in late 2020, I got extremely obsessed with a Japanese drama and decided to start my own discord server to get my dopamine fix. After advertising that I would start a server if I had help, someone reached out to me that they could help and we created the server together.

Fast track to now, it's been two years since and I'm still friends with my co-admin (who helped me create the server) and some of my mod team (one mod had left and the other is currently MIA). And I'm still friends with a bunch of the server regulars, some of whom joined in the very beginning and some joined later on.

We're a pretty international server although some in the server have managed to arrange meetups with each other. I personally have never met with any of them yet due to my geographic location, but in place of meetups, we've started a small little pen pal group within the server and have mailed each other letters. It gives it that physical touch when you're separated by vast distances making meetups harder to achieve, although someday I hope to meet everyone in person.

We started with the J-drama as our shared interest, with our peak server activity happening when the show was still airing. After the show finished airing, the server fell quieter with some leaving the server, but a couple regulars still stuck around and I had off-topic channels and some of us moved on to different fandoms with some diverging and some converging. But we've all still kept in touch despite our busy schedules and also most of us being spoonies.

Bed-bound Buddy System

Hokay, so.

I'm thinking about starting a thinger for all the spoonies out there who are bed- or house-bound and can't have much of a social life as a result.

I've been bed-bound (cfs/me) going on a month now and my god it's lonely. Health Update

I know some people on my blog are fellow spoonies who wanna know what’s up or who might be able to offer support or advice so... here’s what’s been up lately. 

I was officially diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome in January after waiting over a year to see a geneticist. As it stands I have a whole list of doctors I need to make appointments with and get referrals for. Gastro, cardiologist, pain management, and orthopedics to name a few. 

Lately my pain’s been anywhere from like 7-10 within the past few months. 7 is really good days, 10 is absolute worst days. But then I’m not just dealing with the pain in my joints. 

I’m also dealing with feeling weak or sometimes dizzy (or like I just ran a marathon) upon walking short distances, going up the stairs or down them, etc. I’m having a difficult time with hydration so Gatorade is now my best friend. I’m finding it difficult to eat sometimes, less difficult others. I’m being dealt very few spoons a day to deal with work and school. 

On top of that, I started getting migraines again, which I haven’t had many of since I was about 15. Around that time, I only had one or two a year. Now I’ve had two or three in the past month or so, some of them lasting through multiple days. 

I’ve somehow injured my right knee (probably while I was sleeping bc I have no memory of hurting myself) and it’s bruised and swollen and it hurts v bad. I’m dehydrated and nothing I’m doing is really helping. My back and hips are killing me on a daily basis. A cane isn’t doing enough these days to justify messing up my already messed up right hand to use it. I’m in a tough spot. 

I would really love to start doing something like writing pen pal letters again because I can do that while I’m stuck in bed. I’m also looking into getting an iPad when I have the money, or getting more games for my 2DS so that I don’t get so down when I’m stuck in bed and tired of watching TV. 

If anyone’s down to talk or has read this and has any advice or anything, my ask and messages are open. I’m just looking forward to something making me smile today.
