Wanting advice because we saw your post about names and cultural appropriation (for context we are white/asian mixed, but not Japanese) -- in our space we have two alters that have Japanese sources, and Japanese names in said sources. (for clarity's sake i'll refer to them as C and M. C is a splitroject that uses she/her while M is an introject that uses they/he)

C and M have both taken on non-Japanese names (for various personal reasons, including appropriation - note that neither were forced and they themselves picked their new names), is this a good idea? The both of them still use their old names internally, as secondary names.

They both very much hold attachment to their sources, and don't want to detach that much. C's new name is temporary while she looks for a more permanent one; M's name is more long-term, he's happy with it.

Honestly I think that's a really good idea and a really good way going about it. I think trying to change names and avoid appropriation is important if it's something you and your parts are capable of handling and exploring at the moment and something you are motivated to kind of do, but I also think a lot of online environments really put a lot of pressure and push for an IMMEDIATE change and a COMPLETE change

I think its important to take things at steps that are comfortable and sustainable to take and I honestly don't think there is a single thing wrong with internally / within your own mind and system referring to one another and oneself by a name that could be considered an appropriated name.

It's one of those things that you take at your own pace and honestly - I've heard this from a lot of Asians / Asian systems, that while its not "exempt" or gone for one type of Asian to another, it's not as much of a thing to sweat too much about - especially depending on which type of Asian you are and the historical relations to the culture the name comes from. (For example, a lot of colonialization from the Japanese has made it so some non-Japanese people had to take on Japanese names and thus I've heard at least one Japanese system say it seems a bit weird to say those people can't use Japanese names when historically their people were forced to have those names)

I'm not entirely sure if there was something in specific you wanted advice with since I'm not fully sure what post you were referring to, but either way, I think you are doing great.

Being forced to educate your girlfriend about Dissociative Identity Disorder and WHY SHE SHOULD NOT ROMANTICIZE IT?? As a splitroject of William Afton, it is so appalling to me to see someone, ESPECIALLY A PERSON IM DATING, desire to be disabled. Desire to be someone they are not for “fun” or because it’s “quirky”.

Not only that, I am aware of my problematic source. Many of the fiction based parts are problematic characters because body had latched onto those characters either for their trauma or behaviors that we, as a person, struggle with ourselves. Heavily relating to the character and finding comfort within the caricature, enough the brain develops an interpretation, and therefore: a formation of an alter. It SUCKS. I don’t want to be the fucking yellow rabbit bitch, but here I am. Sure, I make jokes about it and all, but it sucks.

So in short, fuck “you”. That is sickening behavior coming from a loved one who I rely on as “you” are someone who is constantly taking care of me whenever we’re together.
