In my special self-indulgent headcanon version of speech gifts, telepathy is a mind gift, but the equivalently difficult Speech gift is speaking in concepts

#so instead of using words you use straight concepts #this is a difficult skill not just because of its technical challenge but because there’s a proverbial language barrier #The way you think about something the way you understand certain ideas is different than other people’s #So communicating in concepts becomes a very intimate act in which you must intrinsically learn to #wrap your head around someone else’s worldview and respond in kind #The way I imagine it when you get to this level of study Speech classes begin to resemble anthropology #for example #what is a woman? What is a house? Are these concepts immutable?#How do those ideas translate across the bounds of culture? How do you specifically conceptualize these things?#One of the final assessments in Speech is choosing a word and defending how/why you conceptualize it the way you do.#You do this in a conversation with a professor that is held entirely in the language of concepts #It’s not just an assessment of eloquence but an assessment of whether you’ve #thought about how and in what ways you want to participate in society #anyways #yeah #I can and will extrapolate about dem sense higher ed and speech gifts and are so fun and malleable #celias journey #speech gifts #worldbuilding

It was days before Regulus made contact and even then it was with Evan. He wanted to come round and talk. Barty was nervous but they needed this. He went into the spare room and got the bouquet of books and put it on the coffee table.

Regulus arrived early that morning and rang the bell. Evan answered the receiver and buzzed him in. Barty took a deep breath and let Evan take his hand and squeeze it. He held on tightly, needing Evan to keep him grounded. Regulus walked in and glowered at Barty.

“Reg,” He began, not letting Regulus spit venom at him before he’d apologised. Praying that he didn’t choke. “I was a total arsehole, and I am so sorry for what I said. It has been brought to my attention that I was jealous of Sirius because I thought you’d replace me with him. That same person also pointed out that you are not replacing me, just adding to your collection of people who give a shit about you and I really hope that Sirius continues to stay in your life as one of those people,” He’d spent hours writing and rewriting his speech and had Evan read it over. “Basically Reg, I fucking missed you and sorry I’m such a shit friend. I got you a gift to say sorry,” He let go of Evans's hand to pick up the bouquet and held it out to Regulus. Regulus blinked a few times but eventually accepted the gift and smirked at Barty.

“Twat,” He said before peering into the plastic wrap to see what books Barty had got him. He let out a laugh.

“You went to see Dorcas, didn’t you?” Barty nodded. “She’s the one that talked to you?” Barty nodded again. “Fine, I forgive you, but if you do anything like that again, I’m going to set Pandora on you,” Barty gulped, he really didn’t want that. “I’m actually here because I need both of your help and Pandora, too, if we can track her down.” His grin turned wicked. "How do you feel about a spot of revenge?” Barty grinned, now Regulus was talking his language. He caught Evans's eye and knew that the mischievous glint in his eye mirrored his own.

"I think we'd be very up for that," Evan's smile promised their absolute worst.

I decided to go with ImaKasa and Coffee Shop AU (well, it's not really a coffee shop, more like a café/bar)! This was my first time drawing Imayoshi as well as my first time actually thinking about this ship. I got really into it sooo I decided to make a little comic! ☕️ I also decided to try something different from my usual art style, something a little simpler and with less bold colors... Had a lot of fun working on this and I am pretty happy with how it turned out! I hope you will like it, too! 🤍

something that pisses me off in RA is that Flanagan will occasionally hype up Pauline as this super important and prominent figure in Will’s life, even treat her as a proxy for the mother he never knew, and yet will just refuse to show it beyond the like. two or three (personal) conversations that they have in canon. I get that he was attempting to make her an important person in Will’s life but why not do that by actually making her an important person in Will’s life

#hey Flanagan I hate to tell u but just because she’s married to Will’s father figure does not automatically make her his mom figure #what REALLY annoys me is how easy it would have been for him to connect her & will #like hey. if only there were a pretty clear gap in Will’s education that halt couldn’t fulfill - say for example mmmm diplomacy?#(cause we all know how gifted halt is at conflict resolution)#then he’d have a valid reason to seek out a master of diplomacy for lessons in negotiating compromises & treaties #but no I guess not. Will’s just naturally good at diplomacy despite never really being exposed to it #yk what extra sucks?#if Pauline HAD taught will about treaties & stuff then him receiving the last name treaty wouldve been 1000x more meaningful #it would’ve spoken to her influence on him and solidified her as a sort of parental figure in her own right #AND as an extra extra bonus: if she came to the cabin to teach will about negotiation tactics and such #then we could’ve gotten more halt/Pauline interactions. as in: we could’ve actually seen them being in love ON SCREEN instead of just being #told that they loved each other #will could’ve had a chance to see how much the two of them mean to each other. and then he would’ve had some actual basis for a speech #at their wedding or whatever #but yeah no why do that when we can just imply that will & Pauline got super close off screen? same effect right?????#ranger’s apprentice #pauline dulacy #halt o’carrick #will treaty #I love these books so so much don’t get me wrong. but there are just some things……#anyway.#jackie rambles

So I wrote this next song a few days before my nineteenth birthday. And, um, back then, I was so terrified of change, and I was especially afraid of growing up. And I'd, like, cry at all my birthday parties as a child. Very, very emo.

Now that I'm 21, I don't feel afraid of growing up at all. In fact, I'm really, really looking forward to it. #We've had our yearly secret santa gifts exchange at my dorm and I've been gifted the first volume of Beast 😭😭😭😭😭#I'm crying forever. This december marks three years since I've watched the first b/sd episode #and yet this is the first time I actually own a b/sd manga volume. Like I own it and I can read it whenever I want!!! How cool is that!!!!!#Like there's so many Akutagawa images in it!!!! It's insane!!!!!!!! AND IT'S BEAST AT THAT #I'm deeply moved because I never spoke about it to virtually anyone here (at my dorm)?#Like I suppose a bunch of people vaguely know I like anime but only a couple of close friends know I like. Like-like reading manga lol.#And the person who gifted it DEFINITELY didn't know I like anime in general much less b/sd specifically much less Beast in particular!!!!!#I'm 100% sure (they just arrived this year and we hadn't even had that much occasions to talk to each other).#Which means they went through the trouble of gathering intel from my close friends about what I like and actually follow through‚#seek for the specific manga in a comic store etc... It's such a nice gesture I'm so heartwarmed.#And of course I'm glad for every gift I've received in the last years (genuinely)‚ but the fact that this was the most *specific* to what–#I like. It makes it so special! They were so kind.#There must be one (1) person in this whole 60 people dorm who knows I like Beast–#(that would be the girl who introduced b/sd to me in the first place) and the fact that they asked them for it...#I feel both very grateful and lucky lol #When I unwrapped it!!! Like I thought it was just a random book which would have been nice but like!!!!!#When I actually saw through the thin paper the cover!!!! The scream I screamed in my head #Anyways!!!! I own a b/sd manga now!!!!! I've only got time to go through the first chapter so far but it's suchhhh an experience.#It's like reading it for the first time again 😭😭😭 Half because the translation is so much different than the English one lol.#And I basically know the English version by heart. Half because I never saw this kind of high quality!!!!! It's!!!!! Insane!!!!! Like!!!!!!#I'm crying 😭😭😭 The drawings are so sharp and crisp (in the good way). The lines are so clean there's no disturbance at all #I literally never saw anything so good in my life I'm crying a little. I'm so so glad they blessed me with Beast specifically #The takebon edition is pretty cheap (it's just planet manga so there's no color illustrations or dust cover or anything unfortunatelly.#But to make up for it the volumes are significantly cheaper then let's say J-Pop)#There's also some unique typesetting choices? The text from the book-like boxes is in lowercase which is interesting!#Initially I thought I wouldn't have liked the translation (opening it randomly there was Akutagawa saying “crepa!” (“die!”) to Dazai in ch1 #Which was kinda jarring since it's very low register and everyone knows Akutagawa has very complex speech patterns.)#But actually reading it I'm really enjoying the translation so far!!!!#There's so many choices that made me grasp details I actually missed all the times I've read the English translation.#That is to say! Very excited to read it!!!! Will probably make a review / translation commentary if I can find the time!!!!!
