aside from anything else, if tommy doesn't come back in season 8, it would just feel incredibly narratively unsatisfying, which i think is how you know a lot of the people who are calling for tommy to just be written out between seasons don't actually know how stories work/really only read bad fanfiction because do you know how confusing it would feel to re-introduce a character that has appeared several times in the past as a romantic partner for a main character only for them to break up off screen with no resolution. which i think is especially funny because sometimes some of these people will call him a plot device, which aside from them using that term wrong, doesn't make sense if you also want him to be written out with no explanation. if you think he's a plot device, he actually has to be used for the plot. not just show up, show potential, and then leave with none of that potential being realized.

even when it was natalia, a love interest introduced for the first time in the back half of the season who had no background or defining personality traits, it still felt weird that they just broke up off screen after all the hype around how great their relationship was going to be for buck. it felt unfinished and empty.

imagine that feeling but 10x worse because we actually know tommy already and general audiences have had the time to get connected to him. we have been told directly (i.e. bobby) and shown directly (i.e. the hospital scene, the coffee date scene, the dinner scene, etc etc) that tommy and buck's relationship is significant. regardless of if they'll break it off and do something different with buck's character, at the very least, if contracts n such permit, they will keep him on to see that storyline through.

I'm constantly flipping back and forth wether I should trust tabitha or not because Its really suspicious how protective she is of us, even if we're an complete asshole to her.

Also there's the whole ritual thing going on with the goat, it could be possible that tabitha has ulterior motives and wants us alive because ... well idk a sacrifice seems the most obvious option but whatever she needs done, it seems to hinge on the mc's health.

There's also her connection to Wayne and the death of her mother.

Wayne apparently disappeared at the estate around the same time pearlanne did and pearlanne died of sleep apnea but apparently had no autopsy. I've seen some people propose the idea that tabitha mightve smothered her mother with a pillow, and I think that could check out.

Apparently it's very hard to tell if someone was suffocated with a pillow or not, and often times investigators have to rely on checking fibers near the victims mouth and eyes to idenity what suffocated them, and handprints + finger marks.

You also have to be relatively strong to suffocate someone- which powerful build can say tabitha is surprising strong despite her size (it's if tabitha threatens you and then you push her off)- and most of the time the victims for suffocation are people who would be unable to fight back like children or elderly (I'm not sure how old pearlanne is, but her corpse looks pretty damn old. Since tabitha is in for early to mid twenties iirc, I think I would place pearlanne somewhere in her 50s-early 60s?).

Also it's very clear tabitha did not like her mother, and calls her a monster. So like I feel like it adds up that tabitha is perfectly capable of murder and able to do it again (rip reese) but also at the same time, I have a hard time thinking she's preparing to do something terrible to mc especially if you go down routes where you have a good (or good-ish) relationships with her.

Like, for example with my main mc Mckenna (yes I chose her name cause it had mc in it) I stayed the night at Stella's, hung out with her in the mines and on day 3 but didn't invite her ghost hunting, then when I got threatened in her office on day 4 and had mckenna cry I got a couple very interesting reactions.

And idk maybe I'm the fool for trusting but that line about being family, and how that still means something to her feels so geninue it makes me doubt she actually intends to harm the mc.

Plus there's other interactions you can get with Tabitha, like if you have a very good relationship with her and question if she's happy in scarlet hollow or not she'll say no, but that she's happy you're here.

And idk, I just feel like somebody who had already planned to stab us in the back from the very start wouldnt be able to open up that much and be that vulnerable with their potential victim.

Also tabitha herself states she didn't want to like us (you get this by hanging out with tabby and calling her hypocritical for giving us such a hard time for living in the city), which of course could be spinned towards the idea that tabitha is planning to backstab us but also at the same time, it's not an uncommon defense mechanism for traumatized people to push away loved ones.

Tabitha has had a very hard life- from the pressure of being one of two scarlets left, having to run a dying coal mine, and the abuse from her mother to then her sudden death (and also her mother maybe possibly killing her ex).

It's very possible alot of her standoff-ness towards the player isn't because she has some malicious scheme, but rather it's her way of coping with the shitty cards she's been dealt in life (like the idea of pushing people away so you won't be hurt if they betray or leave you. It's a toxic mentality to have as it creates a self fulfilling prophecy, but it's a mentality some people have nonetheless).

I rambled alot but those are just some of my thoughts about tabitha. It's obvious she's gonna do something weird with that goat (my first idea is a sacrifice), but I'm not entirely sure wether she intended to betray the mc or not from the beginning (I lean towards not but I can still see a situation where she didn't intend to betray the mc from the start, but does so later depending on your relationship with her).

god I really wish tim was more willing to let the main characters get into conflict for longer than an episode.

because, yes, maddie acting as a sounding board/voice of doubt in buck’s queer arc is probably down to convenience from a writing pov, but tugging on that thread/turning it into something would be sooooo good. not only is there the obvious queer angle (does maddie have some lingering hang ups? or is it something else? is she projecting her own experiences with men onto buck?)

but because of how the buckley’s are sandwiched in between the other dynamics it could all boil over so deliciously. chimney/kenny fucking ate in buck begins and I’d love to see more of him stuck in the middle trying to balance his loyalties. doubly so this time bc he’s also friends with tommy. and even if the root cause was more nuanced than straight up homophobia (and I’d hope it would be) if that’s the assumption, would hen get dragged into it? would her old issue with maddie get brought up again? shit they could even bring josh into the mix! or let her have a conversation with athena about handling a late stage coming out from someone you love.

The way Chimney had his big speech but it didn’t resolve Buck’s core issue which is the 118 isn’t listening or caring about Buck and by the end of the episode, they still aren’t listening or caring about Buck bc he’s talking to a random realtor about moving. We don’t see any of them care that Buck is moving AGAIN.

I would fine with this if I actually thought it was going to lead somewhere like Buck actually transferring. Do the writers even know what they’re putting Buck through is angst?

Lowkey find it hilarious that Lin likely joined the White Lotus as a gesture of love towards a man that she probably saw as a father figure but it just ended up resulting in her having to babysit and then chase a group of teenagers across the Earth Kingdom decades later.

And, though it isn't explicitly stated, I say that Lin is it is likely a member of the White Lotus, because Lin specifically says "we" when referring to the people who interrogated the Red Lotus.

Additionally, in book 3, Zuko orders a White Lotus guard to send word to Lin Beifong to protect the Avatar, which seems to me like he was activating some sort of agent for the White Lotus.

Surely, if she was not, he would have activated some sort of trusted high-ranking member instead?

We know from the Kyoshi novels with characters like Jinpa that White Lotus members aren't always forthwith with their status even to avatars if it might be advantageous.

If that isn't enough, just look at the White Lotus taking orders from Lin the same way her officers do 😂

Also, there is the fact that, going all the way back to the first episode of book 1, Lin alludes to being in "the know" about the avatar's movements.

How else would she have this information? It certainly doesn't seem like her and Tenzin are chitchatting every Saturday at this point in their relationship.

She just seems to know a lot about this stuff.

Another nugget that could possibly point to Lin Beifong being a White Lotus member is that Zaheer is relocated to Republic City for his imprisonment. Assuming Lin is the chief of police and also a White Lotus member, I believe this could mean she was entrusted to oversee this to a certain degree. After Korra asks Tenzin to see Zaheer in book 4 and he says that he will get the "clearance" from Reiko, Korra is shown with White Lotus guards who use metalbending to unlock the fortress's various gates. Now who would be more adequate assisting in a metal fortress right next to Republic City than the daughter of Toph herself?

Anyways, ya, idk if this is obvious or headcanon, but the only thing that makes sense to me is that Lin is some sort of member or agent of the White Lotus. Obviously, it has never been confirmed, but also it is the only thing that would make any of this make sense.

The evil parent club thingy made me think about something if JJ did effect Tim to the point where he still thinks the joker and Harley are his parents imagine how it would impact his interactions and identity

Yeah. The shitty part about domestic abuse is that it's not clear cut to the victim. Due to certain tactics (like love bombing), it may be hard for someone to realize that they are being abused or that it's the abuser's fault.

I haven't seen much of the Harley Quinn show, but I remember thinking that the first season showed this. Harley kept going back to Joker despite how he would hurt her. Leaving abusive relationships is grueling.

For Tim, he would know before and after the JJ period that Joker is a bad guy. A monster. Despite that, the brainwashing, electrocution, manipulation, etc. would be detrimental to his ability to be strictly rational. Add on that this happened when he was a kid and his brain was still developing?

It's understandable if Tim would have conflicting feelings about Joker and Harley. You're right that you can loathe your parents and still miss them. It is also reasonable that someone might miss their abuser due to emotional manipulation and other tactics employed. This is one of several reasons why people get stuck in a cycle of abuse.

For JJ specifically, I could go in depth about many layers. We could chat about why he would miss the Joker, the shame and confusion and horror he'd feel when he realizes it, his need to hide this realization from others, the many ways he may lash out or try to process his emotions/trauma, and overall how this would permanently change who he is as a person.

I think, and I am in no way a professional, that Tim would benefit from group therapy for domestic abuse victims. He wouldn't need to say who hurt him, but hearing others and their similar struggles may relieve some of the guilt and shame he feels. Due to his unique situation, he may need to be convinced that he does qualify for this group. Maybe Harley is the one to suggest it and support him. Maybe not.

She would not be able to be Tim's therapist due to her role in his abuse, their relationship, and her revoked license. However, she may still provide him support and care if Tim has enthusiastically expressed her presence as an aid rather than a trigger. Boundaries are important
