I'm glad that I spoiled myself on what Luffy's Gear 5 looks like in the anime before I got within 500 chapters of its manga introduction, because in my opinion, it doesn't really work in the manga. Maybe that's a matter of scan quality or something, but I suspect Gear 5's whole aesthetic doesn't work without motion.

It's a bunch of Looney Tunes nonsense that just Makes Sense when you can see how each absurd pose leads into the other, but manga doesn't have all of that. It's basically just a storyboard. You can have great fights within the limitations of manga, or even ones that rely on those limitations to work properly, but I don't think you can adapt a Looney Tunes aesthetic of visual comedy to any medium without motion.

That sound isn't inappropriate by nature nor from it's games origins. I decide what is inappropriate for this blog and if the nature of something is too much - hence not doing screams from specific horror games or anything that sounds too gory.

my take on the localised names thing is that eustace winner is actually a better name, it clearly shows his obsession with being the best while also showing hes a loser, and the name that should be getting hate but doesnt because its established since the first game is miles edgeworth. its completely random and the only part they managed to keep was 'edge' as in swords have edges which is a bit pathetic when you think about it

a lot of dreamtale chapter 1 is good! the concept is fantastic but that's the most of what i enjoy about canon dreamtale and dream. like that's it

fanon dream, on the other hand, have a lot of problems that's similar to fanon papyrus and fanon blue (swap sans) so i don't exactly mind it but i don't enjoy it either

i've always been annoying (apologies to everyone who had to deal with my dreamtale "takes" at age 16. i know some of yall DETEST me because of my terrible "takes" then) about writing my own interpretation of dream and dreamtale LOL

i don't think they're two different characters at all. i think canon dream is the same as fanon dream because i think canon dream was influenced by fanon and totally tainted him forever

i have gripes with both canon and fanon but they share many traits and the infantilization is definitely one of them.

Hey, just wanted to say thank you for being one of the few writers that writes Aemond centric fics without feeling the need to bash the living daylight out of Aegon. It’s always so frustrating to see most fic writers drag Aegon through the dirt ten times over to make Aemond seem more likable.

I do try to walk a very… delicate line with how I write/discuss Aegon. Because though I think it is fair to dissect the disparities between how narratives were set up, at least in s1 (Aegon vs Rhaenyra, team black vs team green, Alicent vs Rhaenyra), I do not want to slip into rape apologia territory. Which unfortunately, and I don’t think people are trying to but impact and intent aren’t the same, I do feel like a lot of people trying to ‘defend’ Aegon or just make sense of the choices the writer/producers made end up doing. It is entirely possible to write/discuss his character true to form without either erasing the bad parts (even before the events of ep 8) or exacerbating them.

Honesty, one of the reasons why it’s hard for me to continue with my Aegon centric work that I never feel like I have a good handle on his character. I try to do the characters justice and I’m annoying about my shit always, and it’s made worse when I can’t characterize someone right. It’s something I’m working on slowly but surely

hot take (aka headcanon) but I kinda think that nishiki and kiryu’s relationship pre-split wasn’t on both sides platonic/familial or fully romantic; I feel like nishiki had a thing for him (not sure if he fully realized it though) and that he had developed feelings for kiryu over the course of a good long time that were deeply confusing on their own, but even more so considering they would’ve been hard to sort out with what could just be attributed to close friendship or a familial-type bond.

and on the other side of this, kiryu was utterly oblivious and never thought to question what they had as being anything other than a close friendship or familial-type relationship or whatever it was being called out loud (we know kiryu, he’s blunt as hell and takes things at face value– not the best at reading between the lines) hence why the split between them, though both were clearly hurt a ton by it, hit nishiki harder and more acutely– because on top of losing the most important person in his life, which is bad enough, it would’ve crushed any tiny shred of hope he may have had to live out his long-time, perhaps even since-childhood fantasy of being by kiryu’s side forever as his one true confidant, in a more intimate way than as a friend.

Even my views of it being personal preference I think it is still interesting. I look at it in a similar vein as shipping content increasing in fandom spaces. In my experience there used to be a lot more variety.

To me it’s offputting because it’s inserting vital things into less important topics, which is frustrating. I wouldn’t mind understanding all the hard facts of the situation that people draw from to reach these conclusions so it could be less offputting or anything, but to be sure, it is a different kind of offputting than the things I do view as societal ills (the horrors)

The only further clarification I have is that I tend to rb posts like this in hopes of an ongoing convo, so the idea of adding a bit more and more over time. i dont really know how to articulate this but its crazy just how many people dont even realize they dont care about female characters. all their faves are men. they never talk about girls without being led into it. and when you try to point this out to them they try to defend themselves that their faves are just the archetypes they like, despite clearly not caring when that same archetype is a woman. like i feel like at a certain point it is your problem with the common denominator if you cant find a single female character to enjoy
