Faketober 2024 day 13: Echo.
Tumblr media
Sound/Ghost
This pokemon is not... technically a pokemon, this is the final message of an extinct species given life. They float around the oceans they once called home attempting to recreate its former home.

So, I recently rewatched this video, and if you haven’t watched it yet, you probably should, as like most works of Jello, it’s best experienced blind.
[ If / Once ] you have, you can read the rest of this, because I’ll be talking about something at the very end.
Caught up? Good.
So, you may have noticed that a few of the Pokémon names at the end may have been.. slightly incongruous, to say the least.
And you know, I think that’s a shame, because those Pokémon deserved actual, well-thought-out names as much as the others.
So that’s what I did; gave them all proper, fitting names:
John -> Lyrechoir
John 2 -> Jerbellow
Fuqet -> Harmonate
It was surprisingly easy, reflecting on it.
Anyway, @jelloapocalypse, you have any thoughts on these new names?
Because I’d be happy to donate them.

Pokémon fans have always played about with ideas for additional types, and if you look in the right places there’s like...somewhere in the 20s-50s? Not including repeat interpretations? So early 2022 I decided to scroll through a bunch of these different fan types, compiling them into set groups whether that be existing types or a new type. I ended up with 11 new Types from this, so I then went through people’s interpretations of these types and assigned relations based on common interpretations (e.g. Cosmic is almost always good against Sound when they’re able to interact). I also ended up assigning them to the Pokémon TGC types lol (brought back Fairy as ‘Sacred’ and renamed Fighting to Earth) As such, here’s what I got for these 11 types!
(Disclaimer: Nuclear from Uranium and Crystal from Azurite were also both considered but those two are largely simple with the former being the Mutually Assured Destruction type and the latter being pure neutral. TGC wise they’d also be their own weird gimmick types like how Dragon is)
Light
Fairy never really took a Light type’s niche - if anything, the actual Light Pokémon was Psychic type! Light also can loop in a ‘holy’ aspect as well to further differentiate.
Super Effective: Flying, Ghost, Dark, Wind Not Very Effective: Grass, Water, Light No Effect: N/A
Weakness: Grass, Ice, Dark, Cosmic Resistance: Fire, Ghost, Light Immunity: N/A
Trading Card Game Type: Sacred (if no Sacred, Lightning)
Cosmic
Space. Time. Pokémon has always had aliens, and many have thought about a type dedicated to that idea of the unknown.
Super Effective: Fire, Flying, Fairy, Light, Sound Not Very Effective: Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Cosmic, Mystic No Effect: N/A
Weakness: Bug, Rock, Poison, Ghost, Dragon, Mystic, Cyber Resistance: Normal, Fire, Flying, Fighting, Ground, Dark, Cosmic Immunity: Sound
Trading Card Game Type: Psychic (a few come out as Water or Metal to represent the unchanged typings of Palkia and Dialga)
Sound
A typing just as common as Light, Sound doesn’t need to change 100% of the sound based moves to be Sound type: If necessary it could even be interpreted as a general Vibration type
Super Effective: Electric, Fighting, Psychic, Ice, Mystic Not Very Effective: Rock, Ghost, Ground, Sound, Wind No Effect: Cosmic
Weakness: Water, Ground, Cosmic,  Resistance: Electric, Fighting, Psychic, Sound, Mystic Immunity: N/A
Trading Card Game Type: Colorless
Mystic
Where Psychic represents mind powers, Mystic is meant to represent the more Magical and, well, Mystical side of things
Super Effective: Psychic, Ghost, Fairy, Cosmic, Chaos Not Very Effective: Normal, Dragon, Sound, Blood No Effect: N/A
Weakness: Normal, Psychic, Dragon, Sound, Blood Resistance: Ground, Fairy, Cosmic, Chaos Immunity: N/A
Trading Card Game Type: Psychic
Blood
Blood is surprisingly popular enough: if not by it’s own then a combination of the ideas of both Blood and the body, and hunters and dangerous beasts. (Yes, both Vampires and Werewolves would likely be part Blood type.)
Super Effective: Fighting, Mystic, Blood Not Very Effective: Poison, Ice No Effect: Ghost
Weakness: Bug, Fighting, Poison, Ice, Blood Resistance: Dark, Steel, Fairy, Mystic, Emotion Immunity: N/A
Trading Card Game Type: Dark
Wind
Flying types are just things in the air - quite a few people have come up with one (or several) types to do with the air itself: Wind, Gas, Fumes, Mists, etc.
Super Effective: Fire, Water, Rock, Ground, Aroma Not Very Effective: Ghost, Ice, Dragon, Steel No Effect: N/A
Weakness: Flying, Poison, Ice, Light, Resistance: Water, Bug, Sound Immunity: N/A
Trading Card Game Type: Grass, but can be seen in Colorless & Lightning
Rubber
I’m not quite sure how Rubber got in here, but I’ve seen at least two or three people with their own takes on the Rubber type, as well as similar type ideas like Plastic, and the more silly but easy to merge into like Toon and Clown.
Super Effective: Water, Electric, Poison, Not Very Effective: Fire, Ice, Rubber, Cyber No Effect: N/A
Weakness: Fire, Ice, Dark, Cyber Resistance: Water, Electric, Poison, Ground, Rubber Immunity: N/A
Trading Card Game Type: Colorless
Cyber
By Far one of the most popular fan types with the most number of different names as well, but the core of the idea is always the same: Robots! Artificial life forms! AI creatures! Porygon! (Also, the relations it has ended up getting with Bug and Poison are very humorous given the context of computers)
Super Effective: Electric, Steel, Fairy, Cosmic, Rubber, Cyber Not Very Effective: Normal, Bug, Poison, Emotion No Effect: Dragon
Weakness: Fire, Bug, Electric, Poison, Dragon, Cyber Resistance: Ice, Steel, Rubber, Emotion Immunity: Fairy
Trading Card Game Type: Lightning or Metal
Emotion
Psychic and Fairy are the easiest types to mug from I guess. The Emotion type is to do with feeling: Love, Hate, the Heart...and yes, even Memes.
Super Effective: Fighting, Ghost, Emotion Not Very Effective: Psychic, Blood, Cyber No Effect: N/A
Weakness: Fighting, Psychic, Emotion Resistance: Ghost, Dragon, Cyber Immunity: N/A
Trading Card Game Type: Sacred (if no Sacred, Fire)
Aroma
Food, Candy, and nice smells/consumables make up this fan-type. One may think this a joke type, and maybe it is. I don’t think Ghosts are laughing though (they cannot eat the cake)
Super Effective: Poison, Ghost, Steel, Aroma Not Very Effective: Psychic, Fairy No Effect: Fighting
Weakness: Fighting, Poison, Wind, Aroma Resistance: Fire, Steel Immunity: Ghost
Trading Card Game Type: Grass
Chaos
Chaos type is exactly that: Chaos. Disaster, unpredictability, the uncomprehendible. I’m not even sure really where all the stuff for this came from. I guess being the only type to be immune to itself is neat.
Super Effective: Fire, Rock, Poison, Ice, Dragon, Steel Not Very Effective: Grass, Electric, Fighting, Psychic, Fairy, Mystic No Effect: Chaos
Weakness: Normal, Electric, Fighting, Psychic, Mystic Resistance: Rock, Poison, Ice, Dragon, Steel Immunity: Chaos
Trading Card Game Type: Fire

Note
I could *maybe* see a sound type, since we do know of Pokemon with resistance and immunity to them, like Toxtricity and the Whismur line, along with a few that seem to get something like STAB. I still think it's a stretch, certainly.
what are your thoughts on proposed but not scientifically backed types like the light type or sound type or space type or food type
i think it's stupid. they're "categorizations" sure, but not Types. because if they were types, they would be scientifically backed. tell me the advantages and weaknesses of a """"space type pokémon"""" before we talk

A new treatment combining ReCET and semaglutide could eliminate the need for insulin in type 2 diabetes, with 86% of participants in a study no longer requiring insulin therapy. The treatment was safe and well-tolerated, and further trials are planned to confirm these results.
Groundbreaking research presented at UEG Week 2024 introduces a promising new treatment approach for type 2 diabetes (T2D) that has the potential to greatly reduce or even eliminate the need for insulin therapy.
This innovative approach, which combines a novel procedure known as ReCET (Re-Cellularization via Electroporation Therapy) with semaglutide, resulted in the elimination of insulin therapy for 86% of patients.
Globally, T2D affects 422 million people... While insulin therapy is commonly used to manage blood sugar levels in T2D patients, it can result in side effects... and further complicate diabetes management. [Note: Also very importantly it's fucking bankrupting people who need it!!] A need therefore exists for alternative treatment strategies.
Study Design and Outcomes
The first-in-human study included 14 participants aged 28 to 75 years, with body mass indices ranging from 24 to 40 kg/m². Each participant underwent the ReCET procedure under deep sedation, a treatment intended to improve the body’s sensitivity to its own insulin. Following the procedure, participants adhered to a two-week isocaloric liquid diet, after which semaglutide was gradually titrated up to 1mg/week.
Remarkably, at the 6- and 12-month follow-up, 86% of participants (12 out of 14) no longer required insulin therapy, and this success continued through the 24-month follow-up. In these cases, all patients maintained glycaemic control, with HbA1c levels remaining below 7.5%.
Tolerability and Safety
The maximum dose of semaglutide was well-tolerated by 93% of participants, one individual could not increase to the maximum dose due to nausea. All patients successfully completed the ReCET procedure, and no serious adverse effects were reported.
Dr Celine Busch, lead author of the study, commented, “These findings are very encouraging, suggesting that ReCET is a safe and feasible procedure that, when combined with semaglutide, can effectively eliminate the need for insulin therapy.”
“Unlike drug therapy, which requires daily medication adherence, ReCET is compliance-free [meaning: you don't have to take it every day], addressing the critical issue of ongoing patient adherence in the management of T2D. In addition, the treatment is disease-modifying: it improves the patient’s sensitivity to their own (endogenous) insulin, tackling the root cause of the disease, as opposed to currently available drug therapies, that are at best disease-controlling.”
Looking ahead, the researchers plan to conduct larger randomized controlled trials to further validate these findings. Dr. Busch added, “We are currently conducting the EMINENT-2 trial with the same inclusion and exclusion criteria and administration of semaglutide, but with either a sham procedure or ReCET. This study will also include mechanistic assessments to evaluate the underlying mechanism of ReCET.”

Note: If it works even half as well as suggested, this could free so many people from the burden of the ongoing ridiculous cost of insulin. Pharma companies that make insulin can go choke (hopefully).

The new Jenny Nicholson video makes me want to write a Star Wars fanfic based on her experience in the Star Wars Hotel. Amiithia Tope, a wealthy influencer from Coruscant (Jenny's actual choice of "character," if I spelled her name right), trying to help the First Order but getting ghosted by them even as the Resistance tries to recruit her.
Chewbacca escapes because Lieutenant Croy assumed her attempts to warn him that a high-profile prisoner was escaping, come on, were just a youngling prank. On the Baatu excusion, Amiithia and her sister end up doing a mission for the Resistance out of boredom and confusion, but it turns out their Resistance contact gave them inaccurate instructions and they have to check all the crates again to find the Holocron. Amiithia meets Hondo Onaka and discovers she dislikes him. Sammy thanks Amiithia for helping him steal a TIE Fighter even though she never even responded to his text messages. Maybe Lieutenant Croy hears this and Amiithia gets in trouble with the guy she wanted to surrender, which is why Kylo Ren Force-tortures her to get Rey to talk.
Worst cruise ever. There was a support column in front of her table at the dinner show!

Name: Clefegy Name Etymology: Portmanteau of (Trebel/Bass) Clef and Elegy Classification: Piper Pokemon Type: Sound Evolution Method: Evolves into Capriccegy with High Pride Flavour Text: It loves to play various songs to enrapture surrounding Pokemon. It rarely does this, however, as this leads predators to its location.
Name: Capriccegy Name Etymology: Portmanteau of Capriccio (A lively piece of music, usually free in its form and short) And Elegy Classification: Piper Pokemon Type: Sound/Wonder Evolution Method: Evolves from Clefegy with High Pride Flavour Text: This Pokemon has the ability to control the minds of others with whatever tune it plays. Different tunes have different outcomes ranging from total subservience to causing other to take their own lives. This Pokemon is only permitted to be owned by seasoned Trainers as this is one of the few ways to temper this Pokemon's power. It's peculiar pipe is actually 2 separate pieces that can be wielded similar to tonfas.
Symphony Andante Sound Special – BP / 90 Acc / 15 PP Capriccegy’s Signature Move. It plays a mesmerising tune that causes the opponent to attack itself with the attack it was going to use next. The power of this move depends on the move the opponent planned to use.
Kobudo Strike Wonder Physical 50 BP / 100 Acc / 10 PP Capriccegy’s Signature Move. It takes apart its instrument and using the two halves, strikes the opponent. This move hits twice.
(It's supposed t be a kitty! With long ears similar to a caracal. I chose a cat cuz of the original story of the Pied Piper. It's really colourful as a reference to the "pied" part. But, as you can see, I took marching band elements too. The idea for the pipe tonfas just came to me and I NEEDED to incorporate it.)

Steve tries to stay quiet while he gets ready for work, but Eddie hears him. He keeps his eyes closed and just listens- to Steve grumbling to himself when his hair doesn’t sit quite right, who starts to hum and whisper some catchy song. Eddie turns his sleepy gaze onto Steve as he shuffles around their room- watching quietly as he slips on his clothes, his shoes, a simple chain with Eddie’s ring around his neck. A warm, affectionate smile breaks across his face. Before he leaves, Steve glances at what he expects to be a sleeping Eddie, but instead, he’s met with a rasped, ‘Hey.’ Eddie sits himself up, stretches his arm across Steve’s side of the bed, and reaches, fingers wiggling. Steve crosses the room to cradle his face.
Their foreheads press, noses bump, and Steve brushes his fingers across scars and dimples.
He breathes a quiet,
‘Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you.’
Eddie huffs a tired laugh,
‘You know I never mind.’
Because, yeah.
Every morning Steve tries to stay quiet while he gets ready for work, but Eddie always hears him.

i like to think that the tentacles in dungeon meshi are kinda like mushrooms or perhaps even lichens in that they are very confusing to identifty and have 200 completely different species that look very similar ("delicious brown tentacle vs BROWN DEATH TENDRIL") and you need to be an Expert to determine the difference between some of the more confusing species and some of them have like 300 different sexes and some of them are actually composite creatures composed of several different species and somehow yeast is involved and also no one really knows half of whats going on with them and in like 50 years someones gonna figure out that uhm actually these are two completely different types of tentacle creatures that arent related like at All they jusf happen to look similar and oh btw that one common house mold is actually a tentacle
