having an existential political crisis rn bc of a convo i had at lunch today. once you start listening to stories it's not hard to realize how insidious politics can get even at a very small localized level. at the barangay level there's already shit like hoarding insulin (firsthand account from my grandfather only recently receiving his months worth of insulin) + at the mayoral level you already have political dynasty stories that sound like some mafia type of shit but are Really Real. and some of the horror stories as recent as like, three or four years ago. and we even had our own mayor assassinated just fairly recently! while that info alone isn't enough to dox myself (there's a lot more mayoral/mayoral adjacent assassinations that happen than you would think. i checked) i won't talk abt my proximity to the site but like It's Real. politics is terrifying. sometimes you realize really one of the only ways to incite change is to let the old fuckers finally die off so the power keeping their opposition threatened no longer sticks around and they can finally be replaced in whatever seat of power they used to hold. mahirap patayin ang masasamang damo etc etc. like i don't wanna be cynical but we are kinda fucked.

As someone who ships people more as friends and someone who is genuinely cool with Sonadow and Superbat...

Can I see their relationships more like platonically? I want the soft moments of them, but something between them. I want their relationship to almost always be a slow burn friendship.

I want Sonic to chill with Shadow after a tough battle, not kissing and being all over each other. Both of them collecting themselves, as they are tired from the battle. I want them to maybe hold hands for a few seconds, but then stop once one of them moves or speaks up about something (like the sunset or the flowers around them).

Let me see Clark being a reporter for a charity event and spotting Bruce Wayne. I want them to "bump" into each other and just do a interview that turns into a casual conversation. Maybe even add a silly Bruce with his fake persona on throwing a flirt by accident and getting a small blush from Clark.

Have Shadow need to carry Sonic as he cannot move. Shadow being uncomfortable at first holding Sonic in his arms, however as he speeds along he starts to like the feeling of Sonic holding onto him. Sonic would be shocked by Shadow holding him, but he would clutch tighter to the soft chest from Shadow. Sonic would know it would not last long and could not be talked about, so he melts with the touch he loves to give others as he is in the receiving end with one of his closest. They both would blush once Sonic tightens his grip, but it would last only for a second.

How about Bruce as Batman needing to block Clark from a kryptonite bomb coming for Superman. So Batman has to hug Superman to block the explosion from him, which Bruce almost never touches Clark. The moment is panic at first, but Superman will instead lean into the hug. Their faces would be close, but no one makes a move as they just stare at each others eyes. Superman would hug back as the smoke fills the air, It would make Bruce flinch with worry for Superman, but it would fade into love of the small touch they have before the debris cleared.

Let me see more casual romance/platonic ships. I like Sonadow and Superbat, just differently I guess. I am not a hardcore shipper for these two ships, but I do think they are both adorable if played out correctly.

I know at least a handful of local Indonesians follow me on here and I've already seen concerns over whether Lunar Boy is available in book stores after a recent take down of queer books. I'm here to assure you that as far as I know and from quickly checking, Lunar Boy is still available on periplus, tokopedia, and open trolley. While I know this is a frustrating time, please exercise patience to the staff working at these places- they're doing what they can.

I say this as someone who has to walk this tightrope between being vocal about queer representation online and in western spaces but also having to carefully navigate how things are in this country- keep this discreet and on the downlow, locally. I understand how the immediate reaction is to make recommendations lists or databases on other queer books to find and support, but right now it's clear someone is targeting these books and reporting them to be taken off shelves. I fear all this does is put a target on our books, and I don't want it to happen more than it already has. Imported books are hard enough to come by as is here.

I've already had book reviewers from the US ask permission to have Lunar Boy on recommendation lists, and that's fine! Feel free to add Lunar Boy on your lists. The accessibility of these books in western countries is a different story. But at home- locally- the motto is "tread lightly". Be cautious and discreet. Smaller things have caused huge moral panic and I think this is a precarious moment. Be safe out there.

honestly the more i hear about engstars and its TLs the more i absolutely dread the inevitable release of poltergeist and what may ensue from it, bc if if the translators themselves are already invalidating arashis identity then i Really Truly do not want to see how theyll translate natsume and tsumugis microaggressions/transphobia towards her. esp since ive noticed a rise in people being comfortably transphobic towards her, and i REALLY do not wish to see natsume and tsumugi being stupid fucking morons be used as evidence to discredit her

and i think this is all the more reason why its VERY IMPORTANT for engstars to DIRECTLY ACKNOWLEDGE arashi and her gender. bc sometimes characters are STUPID and RUDE and APATHETIC. enstars is a story with NUANCED and FLAWED CHARACTERS, and when a character is being a fucking asshole youre meant to PROVE THEM WRONG. but they dont even acknowledge arashi as a girl themselves. so, if you do use engstars, please keep pressuring them bc omfg this is so bad and i can only see it getting worse
